Just go all the way, ROYAL FLUSH INCEST: Blueblood, Luna,Celestia and Cadance. How would that work……

Thanks for the help. Now that I know where to send it, I'll just need to transcribe the thing on my head… That will take some time.

Making something that is not a pile of bullshit is hard! In your head everything is neat and organized. But when you write it, everything seens to be messed up.
Also, I know what to write (The main theme), it's about War. But make it in a way that other people can understand, is… So difficult…
Oddly, I have no such problems with Fluffy-Pony Green Texts.

Well, back to the work I think, thanks again BTW.

I noticed that Dr. Whooves and Colgate have the same cutie mark, but you rarely ever hear of them together as partners or shipping in any fanfics. Also, why do we associate her with teeth cleaning (even if her mane looks like toothpaste) if her cutie mark's a time turner (what's the actual name of that… thing?)

The toothpaste mane is pretty much the only reason she's a dentist.
(The cutie mark is an hourglass BTW. )

Another nick of Colgate is Romana, which matches with a character in the Doctor Who series and thus with Doctor Whooves. Then again, they have used multiple ponies to take the assistant role of Doctor Whooves. Most commonly are Twilight, Derpy and Colgate (Romana). But their similar cutiemarks was most likely a reason they named her Romana as well.

So yeah, regardless of their similar cutiemark, she's most commonly named Colgate for her toothpaste like tail. There are other character who are more commonly used as an assistant of Doctor Whooves. So one less is no biggy.

Fun Fact: Hasbro has named Doctor Whooves "Doctor Hooves". In other words, his last name is Hooves. Same as with Derpy Hooves. Yeah, it's a common reason for people to ship Derpy and Doctor Whooves, they share the same last name. That and it's just a popular ship. But their shared last names fuels the whole family scenario bronies gave to Derpy. Derpy as mother, Dinky as kid, Doctor Whooves as father and that pony from Sister Hooves Social I forgot the name of as kid number 2 and big sis of Dinky.

After playing more Darksiders, I have a new opinion on best pony.

Ruin is so cuddly.

@Flutterfrench:

Seriously, guys. Stop posting stuff I have to be gay for.

What is with you people?

As for Colgate, I don't really get the whole deal where she's a dentist, based on the fact that she has a toothpaste mane. I mean, Flim and Flam have bacon manes, and they sell apples. I dunno, man, I don't think manes give a fuck.

WTF at RandomMan's posted comic.

Anyways, I am still working through S2…but I finally got some rankings at this moment and my thoughts:

  1. Fluttershy
    --Yeah, I'm a Fluttershy fan…but I dislike sexually explicit versions of her cause it's not in character. Very peaceful and lovable.
  2. Pinkie Pie
    --Despite her Cookie Monster-styled behavior with food, she's much smarter than you think. Also fun all around
  3. Twilight Sparkle
    --Cool I guess…is sometimes cool and thoughtful, kind of gets crazy at times, but those are hillarious
  4. Applejack
    --Um…not much…she works hard but…nothing much
  5. Rainbow Dash
    --This pony is a freakin bitch. Think's she's #1 in the world and acts like she's queen of the world. Only cares about being as cool as she wants to.
  6. Rarity
    --Least favorite right now…gets annoying, wants everything clean…clean…and clean. Reminds me of one of the cleaning villains from Darkwing Duck TBH. Also, her personality's kind of annoying.

Those are my opinions.

@RandomMan
Sparkler is unimpressed that you have forgotten her name.

They're an odd little family, cobbled together from fanfic trends, vague physical similarities, and semi-canonical but randomly assigned relationships, but that just makes them all the more fun!

@Colgate

Colgate was simply one of the earliest fan-named background ponies back when the criteria for picking a name was much less… strict.
Someone could just say 'Hey, she looks like toothpaste! Colgate!' and it stuck.

@maplejet
WELL YOUR OPINIONS ARE WRONG. RARITY IS BEST PONI.
Yeah, I didn't like her at first either, but she really grows on you, and by the end of Season 2, she is everyone's favourite pony. No exceptions. I had that exact same ranking, except with AJ and Fluttershy switched mid season 2 too.

And lucky you, you get to watch a whole lot of ponies, while the rest of us are stuck pondering the philosophical matters of ponies until Hasbro makes moar eps.

Colgate is possibly the most hard-working pony in Ponyville (after AJ and Big Mac of course). With apple and muffin consumption at an all time high, coupled with an apparently general disregard for teeth brushing makes her a busy pony indeed. And judging by the sparkly clean teeth of just about every pony in the town, I'd say she does a mighty fine job at it too.

She may not be the most recognizable or loved pony, but remember, behind every great pony, whether Rarity or Derpy, you have a great dentist.

This is always my response when checking on this thread, but here it goes. "Uh…wait, what?" haha

@ Shipping on the last few pages

No TwiDash love from the bronies here? And I love how most respondents said they were indifferent to shipping and then proceeded to list their favorite ships. The irony…it's there!!! And I love it!

I guess I can see people shipping Derpy with Doctor Whooves, but I personally couldn't do it with her original (and best) voice. I don't think a pony Ph. D. would go for a borderline-derp pony lol. Not to detract from her awesome fucking standing in the fandom or anything, though. Her eyes in the first episode sealed the deal for me and…uh…everyone else haha.

@ Colgate phenomenon

Love it. Dirty mouth? Clean it up with COLGATE.

@ Joe above this

Dude, you managed to create a pony-relevant post in two sentences. Sweet!

@best pony ranking list
Personally, I think Sethisto has the best approach to best pony. They're all equally awesome (but Trixie is equally awesome by a larger margin) and it's just better to go with a weekly pony.

No TwiDash love from the bronies here?

I now declare TwiDash as this week's best pony.

And I love how most respondents said they were indifferent to shipping and then proceeded to list their favorite ships.

Indifferent meaning, I don't like it enough to seek it out, draw art for it, etc. Just because we don't like it a lot doesn't mean we don't have preferred ships.

AND THEN A COMIC OUT OF NOWHERE!

Twixie is still funniest ship.
Even more so when it's unrequited.

@Colgate page get

Can't have a Colgate page without the Colgate game! Anyone who hasn't played it needs to do so. I need to go back and do that agian. I had to play offline after loading it up, so I never got to see the end due to it freezing when it needed to load again. :C

Yo, it's been a while. We talking about shipping now? Okay. First off, I'll list my fave pairings:
Doctor/Derpy
Lyra/Bon Bon
RariJack
ApplePie (Sounds yummy…)
FlutterDash
TwiJack is starting to grow on me. (I loathe you, Joe.)
Sparity (Still backing away from implied pedophilia.)
Soarin'Dash
Braeburn/Carrot Top
FlutterMac
Spike/Sweetie Belle (This I'm okay with)
and… uh… that's all I have at the moment…

'But Slinker! What is your OTP?' you may ask. Well, blatant transitional question, they seem to change depending on the day, but currently it is PepsiCola

Why? Because fuck you, that's why!
Welp, I'll see you in a day or two… or week… or three…

@Rarity growing on you
Yes, this is true. When I first saw Rarity, I was all 'Oh, not this character.' Mainly because, as some of you might know, one of my pet peeves is arrogance.But after a few episodes, she shows some of the best characterization I have seen this side of Avatar. I mean, she has complexities, quirks, wants, needs (good lord does that sound dirty), ambitions, and shows genuine care for her friends. Plus, the fabulosity gets to you. But she is still not my favorite pony. That is reserved for that special somepony.

@Hooves family
I know a great fanfic for this concept.

@Colgate
I want more fics of her, dammit!

Edit: PAGE GET BITCHES!

Let;s do a cmc page since I already put up the song.

I have listend to some of your stuff and i think that you would appreciate some feedback.

First of all, it is really cool that you have started making music, but there is one major problem: It's the microphone. If you really want to become better and if you really want that people can enjoy your music, you will have to find a better microphone. Right now it sounds very undynamic, lacks detail and has a boxy sound. Perhaps you can somehow improve the way you record without investing lots of money, i am not a pro when it comes to recording, but your music is currently spoiled by the way it is recorded!
I hope that you keep producing and that you stay motivated, but at the moment i just couldn't finish one complete song…but Tiny Wings and Earth Pony Blues have potential!

I think that the brony musician who does the best recordings and mastering is Replacer.

and Le Soldat Pony is quite good as well:

"TwiJack is starting to grow on me"

@Equestrian Po-Po: There is no police in Ponyville because the place somehow manages to remain stable.
That, or there is, and we just haven't seen them because they're not really needed.

@Rarity: Hidden Depths all up in this biatch. However, as usual, everypony is best pony, so realistically that means in a best pony debate I win or at least stall it into confused nonresponsiveness, since I am simultaneously everybody and nobody's opinion.

@Screwball: …huh.

@sparty
Stable? Their town has been wrecked twice already by a dragon and parasprites. That's twice more than were I live. But they did have that security guard at the hospital, I'm sure they have law enforcement.

@Dac: Well… I meant on the kind of crimes being committed. It seems criminal activity (besides the town's repeated destruction) happens to be almost completely nonexistent. Law enforcement can be things other than police (security guards).

@deadparrot: Well besides that, and the dance police, and the time police…

@Solaire: She seems a bit… not happy right now. Besides, I at least follow the cardinal rule of "don't be a dick", and that seems to fill almost every law in existence.

Sort of a random and inconsequential thought, but anyone remember that massive hourglass in the Canterlot Royal Archives back in It's About Time? The animators must have put that in for a reason. Could it be TARDIS? Could it be foreshadowing dark events to come? Or is it just an ordinary time keeping device? I can't shake off the feeling that this is the timey-wimey thing the Time Turner/Doctor Hooves trading card is referring to.

I don't know, mabye. Or mabye they just put in in there just because it looked good. It would be cool if that becomes important later on. Have they ever done foreshadowing in mlp? I don't remember any.

maybe they just don't have clocks

@Twins
I'm pretty sure the hourglass was just a cool statue that they wanted to put in because Twilight was looking for a time spell.
Makes sense that the archives for time magic might have a giant timepiece nearby.
I really doubt that there's any special significance.
And the 'timey-wimey stuff' on Time Turner's card was just a direct Doctor Who reference that they snuck on there, not foreshadowing.

@Dac

I guess it depends on what you classify as foreshadowing. There have certainly been some interesting little nuggets referring to future moments in a particular episode, like NMM's face appearing in that other hourglass in the first episode. Then there was Twilight's declaration that all the ponies in Ponyville are crazy… that turned out to be far more accurate than she realized, haha.

As for the big hourglass in the Star Swirl the Bearded wing, well, that was the episode about time travel after all. It seems that ancient wizardly figure was interested in the subject of time, hence the spell and the hourglass. Who knows if there's anything significant or magical about the timepiece itself.

It's fascinating to me that Star Swirl was mentioned in three different episode in Season 2, establishing that not only did he create hundreds of unique spells (even including some pertaining to time travel), he also mentored one of the very founders of Equestria. I hope we hear more about "the most important conjurer of the pre-classical era" and the events that unfolded during that period in Season 3.

@dan
Now there's the over analysis I wanted to see.

Yeah, now that I think about it, they have mentioned Starswirl more than a few times, and season 3 will hopefully expand his character. He's definitely more than just Twilight's idol, he's the Aslan/Dumbledore of the pony world.

Let's not get too conventional here. The hourglass is most definitely somehow connected to Starswirl. Perhaps he left it as a relic of a long lost time. Perhaps Doctor Hooves is the only pony in Equestria who understands its unlimited potential. Perhaps it shall play a major part in the role of bringing down the next major villain of the series. Perhaps Starswirl is the Doctor.

We need some fanfics, like now.

@The hourglass:

ahem

That weird-ass villain that was posted a while ago from unused Hasbro website files will arise from the depths of the Netherwold when the sands of binding run out in the hourglass. He will bring forth sweeping change in the form of plague to cull the weak, fire to kill crops, and vidya games to lull everypony into a state of inability. He will then overthrow Celestia and take his place as ruler of Equestria, and lead the enslaved ponies with an iron fist.

Amirite?

But, seriously, I think it was just an ornament for the room of a wizard, same as the one in Twilight's room in Canterlot. Nothing spectacular. And Starswirl is probably just a name the writers come up with and stuck with whenever they needed to reference a powerful figure from the past.

You know what else I find interesting about this topic is the level of security that the Star Swirl wing seems to have been placed under. I can't imagine it's any accident that it's all barred up and under surveillance by the palace guards. What is so dangerous about the information stored there, I wonder? Did someone attempt to use those spells for some kind of nefarious scheme in the past? There is definitely some good story material to be had there.

@Solaire

Oh come on, you're no fun at all.

Last edited Jul 24, 2012 at 05:57PM EDT

@Dan:

"Oh, the Starswirl the Bearded Wing, the one with the time spells made by the one of the most powerful wizards of the past?

NO GUARDS, NO DOORS, FREE ACCESS!"

It's guarded for the same reason museums are guarded, probably. They're valuable relics, books, etc. from an ancient time made by somebody who was once revered. It'd be very stupid not to put some form of protection on it. They really only had a door, and the guards just patrolled around the entire palace, which the wing happened to be in, being a wing.

As for me being no fun…

That's me in that pic.

God, I loved the past.

@Twins: Well, if we're linking this to Doctor Whooves then my bet is that hourglass turns into his sonic screwdriver.

@Dan/Solaire: Idunno, if I had a wing that allowed access to fucking time travel spells I'd keep that really well-guarded. As in, "at least one squad of JTF2 guarding at all times" well-guarded. Time travel can seriously fuck the universe bad in some iterations, and I'd rather be safe than sorry on this one.

I figure very few unicorns are able to actually use those spells (this is Celesta's star student we're talking about) so it doesn't really matter. I could walk on over to Barnes & Noble to get a martial arts book right now, it wouldn't make my fists registered weapons.
