There are times when you should argue even when it makes you upset, but only when something meaningful is being achieved. If you think that we can't have some meaningful discussion, then so be it, let's save everyone a lot of stress and hurt feelings. To be frank, your attitude kind of disgusts me as well.

Let me just say that I prefer a world where I die five years sooner from "just dealing with it" to living in the cold, sterile, and overly formal world that would be needed for me not to.

The discussion was Derpy, but currently she is just a byproduct used as an example for the subject you two are actually discussing and who is right or wrong in their opinion. Thus making it no longer pony, and therefore no longer at home in this thread.

The forum is populated by Athiests pretending to be overzealous Christians that demonize everything and deliberately start arguments with anyone that falls for their troll posts. Well I think this discussion has reached the peak of its productivity. It went for about 2 pages without any controversy however it appears that it's reverting back into the shitstorms of old days.

I'm not pointing the finger at anyone but certain users here have allowed the conversation to devolve into another shitstorm over whether or not Derpy is offensive and that discussion topic has always been the No.1 Shitstorm brewer that caused us to go silent about Derpy in the first place

You should all be aware that every time we discussed that topic, the answer is always the same: Someone found her offensive, so she was. You cannot really argue that. But failure to grasp that reality is what kept the shitstorms a-storming. One day we will learn that.

So, the Derpy discussion you started a few pages back has now come to this. What is your take on the results so far? I'd say that we have learned that we can talk about Derpy now…but our ability to so is still limited. Evidently there is still a limit on just how much we can discuss here before it goes to hell again…just like always.

However it seems that this Derpy discussion lasted longer than the last and generated less heat…at least until Verbose and Fifths decided to pack a fight

The last Derpy discussion was the one introduced by me where I invited that guy to come talk about the SaveDerpy movement. That was the time Popper first appeared here. You remember how well that went. By comparison, I think this discussion went a bit better.

While I agree with many of your points I want you to know that I cringe every time you call Derpy 'mentally disabled', I really do.

Yeah, I know she is just supposed to be goofy, but I can see how some people might see more than that. I do think though that in many fanfics, she is portrayed with a debilitating speech problem and that bothers me a bit.

It's not in August, EqD had a chat with one of the Hub's people and they said the date isn't quite set but they will announce the premier one month prior to the airing.

So I'm guessing Late September/Early October.

I don't think I'll repeat the actions that happened during those pages. Let's just keep it with a lot of jimmies being rustled. So yes, this discussion went a lot better, until now at least that is.

But let's not forget the difference in factors during that time. The incident was still fresh, different posters. The atmosphere was of course a whole lot different because of that, which also resulted in different opinions and posts.

Nonetheless, I never saw the need for the whole movement. Their cause was ok, their reasoning lacked on all sides. The dude who first contacted us about it presented it more like a crusade than a movement. They also wanted me to add a section in the Save Derpy entry. The way they brought it, it was more than obvious they thought they could simply use the entry for some free advertisement. I told them I wouldn't add anything until the movement bore some fruit and/or became notable; they were ok with that. I never heard anything from it ever again after that. Perhaps Popperfett can tell you how the movement ended.

Ok, I did not pick a fight. I never try to pick fights because fighting is stupid. I try my best to calmly explain my opinion and everyone reacts by going freaking berserk. I'm like the eye of the shitstorm, calm while everyone freaks the fuck out around me.

Remember those mlp trading cards? I saw some at Toys'R'Us today and almost bought a pack but then I remembered how I couldn't stop buying booster pack after booster pack of Yu-gi-oh and Pokemon cards when I was younger and didn't want to fall back into that mess again… so instead I bought 3 lego minifigure blindbags (fuck logic) But it a bullshit hax stroke of luck, I got the bitchin space marine, badass evil knight and viking lady. Oh yes. Everything did go better than expected – MUCH better than expected – Because instead of getting all the minifigures I wanted in one foul swoop, I could have wound up paying $10 for 3 Sexual Harassment Easter Bunnies…

So now I'm thinking I may as well have just bought a pack of those freaking cards while luck was on my side. I could have got a Celestia to make up for the Charizard I never got lol.

Ponyville crime rate increases by 200%…no that's being optimistic, more like 500%. Elements of harmony would most certainly be called into action. Dolan wouldn't last 12 hours before he gets thwarted by a rainbow but he could probably spread a huge syphilis plague before he goes.

Another topic is this article which Platus posted in the MLP comment section. I thought I would share it here as well since one of the reasons people stick to the comments is the news that gets shared there first.

So KYM's effort in documenting MLP gets some use as a news article references it in a discussion about controlling the franchise. Thoughts?

I've read the article, I've seen bunches of comics and pictures, and it even got its own Memebase site, but I just do not get it at all.
It's like it's trying to be 'so bad, it's good' but it just comes across as flat-out bad to me.
What am missing here?

I'd never heard of Landover Baptist before, so I had no idea that it was intended to be satirical.
Poe's Law does kick in a bit though, because I don't find it difficult to imagine that there are people out there who do actually believe that RD was designed as a symbol for lesbianism (it still bugs me sometimes even when she's used that way by the pro-homosexual movement), but point taken.
I will gladly rescind that example.

Actually, I think typing about her with our fingers is just a tad bit cruel.

On a serious note, I like that the character is popular, I just think we went a bit overboard with assuming she was obsessed with hands and humans based on her seated position, which has since been adopted by countless others. Maybe it's just the asshole in me talking, but it gets immensely annoying having the human obsession crammed down my throat with 90% of pics involving Lyra.

As for fluffy ponies, I think they're awesome and adorable, and can't understand why people would abuse them. It is 4chan, of course, so it's to be expected, I just want to know why they're generally accepted as retarded torture-bags.

I personally like the Dan vs Tumblr fluffy pony a lot.

I was never really dependent on Ponibooru, save for finding reaction images or Octavia / Spitfire pairings. Luckily though, from what it looks like, you can still pull up the Google previews. So if you were really desperate, you could save the previews and reupload them somewhere else.

I still can't believe that they would just shut down poniboo.ru like that, as it was such a massive and integral part of the brony community. When it went down, it took a large part of our history with it. Sure, there will be other sites, but they'll never replace the hole poniboo.ru has left in our hearts.

I found out late, and only have 12 hours to produce an idle animation for Daring Do? ATG challenge nummer 1 accepted!

An hour in, and I have a yawn animation completed. Working on blinking, closing eyes, eyes half open, etc. I'll do something with the legs, some wing stretching and so on, and probably just trace a bitmap for the background. At some point I'll have to record myself yawning and any other miscellaneous nosies I need. Luckily, I'm very tired. Wish me luck!
