Gawd, I love this thread.

New topic: When did Sweetie Belle go from being a dictionary, to a marshmallow and now a robot?

Casting the spell known as "The My Little Pony Mind Meld," whereupon I enter a trance state and commune with The Grand Goddess of The Elements of Harmony, who transmits the music for the show to me while I am in oneness with her. The music for the MLP:FiM is not written by me, it is given. I am just the vessel for the transmission. The music is from The Goddess of the Elements of Harmony.

Sweetie Bot started from Friendship is Witchcraft or the Mentally Advanced Series, right? One or the other, I don't really keep up, but I think FiW.

Congratulations on Page 42, you really did humanity and ponykind a favor there. All of you.

@Solaire; Steven Magnet is my slave for the day.
Well. Just tell him to not cause trouble and don't kill people and I should be good. Just the usual day here.

@Sweetiebot:

Oh dammit what did you do now… gonna take ages to fix

"Who is this Sweetie Bot of whom you speak? Is it a normal pony?"

Thrackerzod knows damn well who the best Sweetie Belle is.

Edit @DeadParrot

Thrackerzod trumps Sweetie Bot because two Thrackerzods

And because.

Yes, Sweetie Bot is originally from Friendship is Witchcraft.
No idea how they came up with the idea exactly (probably something stemming off of a Blade Runner parody or something), but I really do love it!

@Birthday Game
April 25th…
Pistol duel with Philomena?
Never been more happy to have fingers!

@Exudes
I honestly can't decide if I like Sweetie Bot or Trackerzod more.
They are both awesome!
(Why does Sweetie Belle have so many entertaining alter-egos?)

Lookie what I found!
Another one!

And now Lauren Faust has gained access to my internet history.
This could get weird…
Oddly enough, probably one of the most plausible outcomes on this chart.

@All who answered question

So, Friendship Is Witchcraft started it. I see. I should probably get around to watching that.

It definitely did not come from the Mentally Advanced series, that one introduced the "Demon from the nether realm" version of Sweetie Belle (Otherwise known as Thrackerzod)

@Solaire

That joke was hilarious when you first posted it, but you can stop now.

Applejack reads my diary aloud in public eh?

Well, have fun with that AJ. I haven't written in mine since I was like 12. IDK what I wrote; probs some of the usual girly stuffs like crushes and Jigglypuffs and rainbows and poems that were entirely plagarized from Shel Silverstein and all that shit. I have this vaguest of feelings that I put hearts for tittles. Yes, I was a lot more feminine that I'd like to admit back then. It's sort of funny, I always considered myself a tomboy at the time. Wistful thinking, I guess, if I'm using that phrasing correctly. Probably not.

Anyways, going off on a tangent here. I did have a bit to drink today (what, can't a girl have some fun once a week), although I assure you that I am not drunk.

I think.

Drink in moderation? Ehh, could go either way. I've been abstinent for a long time, and have only recently begun to discover the true joys of alcohol. An aneurysm would not be fun though. I'll keep that in mind (translation for those that don't speak girl: haha no).

Um… I never thought I would say this but… Can you go back to R34 discussion please?

Yes, Sweetie Bot is originally from Friendship is Witchcraft.
No idea how they came up with the idea exactly

It was part of Cheerilee's class in the first few seconds of the episode "Cute From the Hip."

I would imagine they just threw Sweetie Bot in at the end as a gag, but liked it enough to give her her own episode. Glad they did, too. "Neigh, Soul Sister" is my favorite by far. To all of you who have yet to look into Friendship is Witchcraft, I strongly urge you to give it a try! It's absolutely hilarious, and can even evoke emotions like the show on occasion. (poor Pinkie Pie…)

@El Slinker
Even if we were still on page 42, that would still make the meaning of life pony fucking.

@Everyone
When is the last time we've had a Pony Thread TF2 game? Anyone up for it Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Saturday night? I've got those days off work, but other than that, I'm busy until midnight (in eastern US time).

And to keep the discussion pony, here's a little discussion to tac onto your responses. I don't know if any of you have been following Fighting is Magic as fervently as myself, but are you aware that there has been a bit of a split between fans of the project over the soundtrack? A lot of fans don't like the fact that there are two different musicians behind the soundtrack. For those who are unaware, RainbowCrash88 wrote the songs for Twilight, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash, while Whitetail mad the themes for Rarity and Pinkie, and will most likely be making Fluttershy's as well. Numerous individuals complained when Whitetail first started releasing music, saying his tracks did not fit the characters, or they didn't fit a fighting game. What do you think?

My personal favorite song from the soundtrack is Rarity's theme, although I can't help but agree, I think RC88 does more fitting music. I can imagine Rarity's song in a fighter. It has a Touhou sort of energy to it. But I think it could stand to fit the character better. And I just don't get Pinkie's song. It doesn't seem to fit at all to me. I didn't realize what I liked more about RC88's style until Whitetail said his Pinkie Pie theme was inspired by the work of Foozogz. Rainbow Crash uses instrumentation borrowed directly from the show. Applejack has her banjos, and Twilight Sparkle has glockenspiels or whatever. While Rarity's song was good, the piano was Whitetail's idea. But Rarity is usually accompanied by harpsichord when Will Anderson channels the spirits. Add to that, Pinkie's song was fandom-inspired instead of show-inspired, so it just never felt right when I listened to it. After hearing it in-game, I'm sure I'll like it more; but I doubt it will ever match up to Twilight's or Applejack's canon-inspired tunes.

Oh-tee-freaking-pee

I'm down for Wednesday. I'm pretty much open all day then.

Also, when was the last time we had a synchtube? I miss those. I can maybe set one of those up this coming Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

And let's try not to turn this into TF2 chatter, alright?

there has been a bit of a split between fans of the project over the soundtrack?….. What do you think?

I'm not aware of any sort of "split", but if you're asking for my personal favorite, it would have to be the Pinkie theme with the Twilight theme as a close second.

Personally, I prefer Whitetail's music, though I think the reason some fans dislike it is because, as you said, RC88's tracks fit the style of the show more, while I think Whitetail's is more electronic, and that was what pushed some fans off. I'm aware there is a good bit of electronic-enthusiastic bronies, but it doesn't exactly fit the style of the show, IMO.

@Friendship is Witchcraft

Never watched it.

@TF2 game discussion

I'm all up for it on any of those days but lets please take all TF2 arrangements to TF2 General

there has been a bit of a split between fans of the project over the soundtrack?….. What do you think?

I don't see what the problems is. I think both artists are doing a good job.

Oh only Celestia knows what kind of shit I am in because of Pinkie Pie. (my birthday is Sept. 9th)

You are now aware that Pinkie is in your filthy monkey world at this very moment. Pinkie has been here for a week. Pinkie already committed five felonies. Also has a bounty on Pinkie's head. As we speak there are mercenaries trying to hunt Pinkie down. No worries. YES! Pinkie is okay sense you token responsibility. When Pinkie comes back to Equestria. The possibilities of Pinkie being followed are quite high. So Pinkie improvised. By taking YOU as a detraction. This plan is flawless! YES!

@That second birthday chart:

Cheerilee forces me to take part in an embarrassing play. More than likely, it involves the schoolfoals, so I don't even give a fuck, I get to play with pony children.

@Fighting is Magic:

I've been sorta keeping up with it, and I knew about the music conflict some people had. Personally, I like both artists a lot, but I think that RC's music is more fitting of a fighting game, especially with the theme the game is aiming for, at least in my opinion. I really think Twilight's fits her character while being, I dunno, 'visceral' enough for a fighting game, while Rarity's is kind of calm and relaxing, which doesn't fit in a fighting game very well, though it kind of fits her character.

I really don't mind too much, though, as I'm not the biggest fighting game fan. I'd be fairly satisfied with the music from either musician.

@Halfway:

Martin Luther King Jr. was dreaming about ponies.

Well, for one, I'm not sure in what circles you normally run, but I haven't had a problem with a "hater" in a long time. Granted, this is the site I post more frequently on, but I'm starting to think that some bronies are just easily trollled and are easily rustled.

Second, playing a little devil's advocate here, since when has the Internet cared what nation-specific legislators think, let alone a body whose actual dominion is unknown to me (because I know they don't rule the world, and I know they don't make legislation for day-to-day matters for any country)?

Third, details.

  • You have the right to love. Not love from everybody. As long as someone is showing you love (no homall the homo!)
  • You should be taught love and tolerance. Not shown love and tolerance. Granted, there is that whole "social learning" theory (thank you, based Bandura) that states that people learn by watching others, put simply. But again, not everyone has to teach you that.

Bronies: 0
Haters: 0
Octavia: 1

Also, could a few users post what they were going to post originally, but also tell me if they can see these images? I think I had problems posting from Derpibooru before, but I don't know if they're still issues now.

I just heard about the Fighting is Magic leak. I know I’m a little late on it, but I still have a few things to say. The developers didn’t want to release it until it was finished, whoever leaked the game is an asshole. If you’re going to download the leak, well, no one is going to stop you from doing it, but you shouldn’t.

I dont get the hate for YOLO. Seems people hate it because people use it to justify reckless behavoir, but isnt Carpa diem being used for the same thing in this case? Couldnt it be used the same way as YOLO really? Its just hipster behavior to hate it really. People just hate it because its popular. I dont really care that people use it really. LOL I saw that, and it's halrious on they get drunk on not even a full can of beer.

That being said, I can't pull a Berry Punch and get drunk. The last time I did all I did was want to go to sleep. Not sure how people are able to do things drunk and all that.

That is why people hate YOLO.
The basic concept of 'live life to the fullest' is fine, commendable even, but that is not it's most infamous usage.
Most people yell 'YOLO' as justification for extreme stupidity or just flat-out horrible behavior.
If 'Carpe Diem' were to suddenly explode into similar popular misuse, I'm sure it would receive its fair share of hate, too.
This isn't even getting into the idea that a long-standing, well-respected Latin philosophical phrase will automatically have a lot more intellectual gravitas than the latest hip-hop acronym.
If you are out there using YOLO correctly, more power to you, I guess, but the idiots have sort of ruined it's ability to be taken seriously.
'Carpe Diem' works just as well, without all the pop culture baggage.

@Pony related
So, I just got back from a trip to my neighborhood Fry's (big warehouse electronics store, in case you don't know).
Just walking around with my dad when what should I see but an episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (the Gabby Gums one) being projected up onto one of the back walls of the building!
No sound, no fanfare, it was just there, looming over the computer department.
I wish I had had my camera with me because I sure didn't expect to see that!
I kinda told my dad a little about the whole pony thing a couple weeks ago and basically left it at 'It's an internet thing, kind of a cult following' and he seemed okay with it, if a little confused.
Seeing in the store let me give him a direct example that I'm not some lone weirdo, this show is actually a real thing and it's popular enough that someone is using it as the demo footage for a projector system in a crowded electronics franchise store.
That was quite cool.

@Latest Birthday Game

As they force you to use a middle name, I have to improvise a bit.

Viciously Receive Oral Sex From Octavia

@deadparrot

Working hard is good, that much is true, but life without fun is meaningless. I'm not excusing those who drive drunk and scream YOLO, but is having a few at a party really that reckless and stupid? No. Many users here drink, go to concerts and EDM festivals. Things that many would scream tweet YOLO to. Who cares if some people use it to justify downright reckless behavior. That's not everyone and are just the worst examples, most are just examples of relativly harmless youthful behavoiur. Honestly, I'm certain it's because of its origins in mainstream hip hop that many hate it.

@Name scenario:

Blissfully marry Applebloom.

Assuming she's an adult, that's pretty good, I guess. If not…

@Carpe Diem:

Teddy Roosevelt said it best:

'Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.'

Knowing you only live once and taking every opportunity to better your life and the lives of others, and working hard at what you do is a good rule to live by. That's the main message of Carpe Diem and all that.

But, seeing as how YOLO was in a hip-hop song, of course drunken kids are gonna here it, take it the wrong way, twist it, and use it as an excuse to be hooligans.

This isn't very much related to ponies, though.

I propose we uncover or make a picture of Teddy Roosevelt as a pony. And then ship him with everything.

That's… basically what I said.
I didn't mean to imply that all fun is stupid or that everyone who says YOLO is doing it incorrectly, just that the phrase has a lot of things going against it in terms of being taken seriously by mainstream society, the major one being popular misuse as justification for irresponsibility.
I mentioned that the hip-hop angle probably hurts it substantially as well, because it does end up being thrown in with other similarly annoying catchphrases like 'swag.'

To reconnect it with the subject of this thread, I'll relate it to 'brony.'
I think all of us here have a relatively positive association with the word, but it can't be denied that there are people out there who only seem to run into the annoying type of brony (you know the kind).
To those people, 'brony' would have a much more negative connotation.
Same goes with YOLO.
Whatever its true merits are (and I do think the concept is a good one), anyone who sees it primarily misused and chanted on a regular basis is going to grow to dislike it.
Just flip through Failbook for plenty of examples of misuse by idiots.
No, it shouldn't be automatically discounted, but some annoyance is understandable simply from over-saturation.

@New Game
I've been angrily friend-zoned by Twilight.
I'm… not sure if that's good or bad…

At least I'm her friend, I guess.
