Happy New Year!

To another year of ponies!

@Flutterbat/Vampire Stuff
Vampire Fruit Bats eat regular Fruit Bats.

This is about to go horribly wrong.

@TSG
I honestly can't get annoyed at the episodes 'misuse' of the vampire terminology and conventions.
It's obvious that they just wanted to play with some of the concepts, but do so in a way that was still safe for the young children in the target audience.
Lots of shows have done this kind of stuff and inventing an all-new creature would require extra set-up and exposition that they could sort of skip by using a common monster archtype.
Plus, Fluttershy and Pinkie's 'Did I try to eat ponies?' conversation at the end was a massive lampshade to the whole thing so you knew that they knew that it was all in good fun.
Overall, I just saw the episode as a way for the MLP crew to introduce the creepy, evil tranformation-y elements of vampire horror in a relatively safe and fun way.
Mission accomplished, as far as I'm concerned.

But yes, Twilight needs to be more careful with her magic.

To steal a Simpsons quote: "Magic: the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems!"

The preview of this arose some time ago, but it is finally done!

CAKE!
(And 'Daww…' at that ending)

>implying it's a burn

If you go on Fimfiction right now, you will witness an event rarely seen by mankind. An event so rare, it's never been documented on camera before. So awe inspiring, that people have openly wept in joy and pure euphoria at the sensations it invokes. So precious, that it's fragility and delicacy will remind those who view it of the struggles that life itself must endure to survive.

If you go on Fimfiction right now, you will see a Featured Box that doesn't have a single Mature rated story in it. Cherish this moment, for it will be moments like these that bring hope to us when there's three fics of filly Twilight getting her "clock cleaned" by Shining Armor sitting on Fimfiction's front page.

Hay guise…

Happy New Year

So…the vote for the best pony video of December 2013 has opened up. I'm just gonna leave this here…

I wonder who will get on the list this month. You can vote for your favorite pony videos by leaving a comment listing them in this video's comment section.

…In a completely unrelated note, did you know that it's been over 3 weeks since Exudes and I published our animation "Take a Bow" on DECEMBER 10th of 2013? Time sure flies huh? I'll just link it here in case you've forgotten that animation that took us months of blood, sweat, and tears to produce.

What's that? NO, I AM NOT VOTE WHORING RIGHT NOW!

…that's what the alt accounts are for.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL HANGOVER DAY NEW YEARS!

In other news, Mane6 just released a big update for their not-FightingIsMagic-but-still-kinda-is project. You guys should take a peek.

EDIT: Faust has also released some official art. Here it is:

@Fifths
Wouldn't be a KYM Pony General if we didn't have some kind of vote rigging going on.

Biotic Zombie said:

That depends on who you ask. If you asked Hasbro, they'd say "My Little Pony is a fun, action packed experience that provides entertainment and values to the whole family," If you asked Equestria Daily's Comment Section, they'd say "It's the greatest show on TV (: XD (;" If you asked Tumblr, they'd say "It's because Patriarchy is using it to continue to suppress the real desires of the womyn," If you asked Youtube's Comment Section, they'd say "Bob is building an army to take down Google+" If you asked /mlp/, they'd say "What is glorious marshmallow pony vag porn. /thread"

And if you asked us, we'd say
>2014
>expecting the ride to end

Your shiggy is showing. Better zip up your pants.

How did we suddenly go from posting Flutterbat (and giving Fifths votes like the filthy slut he is) to this?

Then again I suppose all we were doing was reposting the same flutterbat image over and over. Maybe it was time for a change to the 'default' topic

Good for them.

Forgive me for being skeptical, but that didn't really strike me as an update. I know there's a lot of things that are very bothersome and very frustrating that they've handled already, but a lot of work doesn't necessarily mean that they're closer to an outcome. So they kinda just reported a gameplan. I'm not sure if anything moved along (but I will grant that I just scanned over a lot of it.)

The main thing I saw is that they raised over $725,000 (for another project, but one they've benefited and benefiting from,) and they'll need a year's salary to work on it full-time for about a year (maybe more). I assume they won't want to live on beans and ramen during this time, so if they have just 5 people working on it, then I'd expect there to be at least $150,000 more to be raised before they even get started again. I don't know, but $30,000 apiece sounds low, so they may ask for more. Including finances for convention trips, business stuff, lawyer fees, etc.

This is not counting Lauren Faust, who may make that much money either way (even though I'm sure she's not devoting full-time to this at any point. If she is focusing her full attention for an extended period of time, then color me impressed and even more admiring of Mrs. Faust.)

Since they don't have ties to Hasbro anymore, they can easily attempt to make a profit off of their work after they got paid for working on it for at least a year.

I do wish them luck, and I understand that the game may not come out for 3 or more years if they can't work on it full-time. It's also a lot less stressful not having to balance two different responsibilities. But I'd be much more likely to commit the same amount of money if they were working part-time, just because I know I wouldn't be paying their rent for a product I can't hold them to.

It's mostly on principle. For WayForward, I know their work, and I like their work. I know they're professional. I trust them, even though they can just jet since they don't get a monthly check from their backers. I have faith that Mane6 will try to complete the project based off of their efforts in Fighting is Magic, but I can't hold them to it (like Nintendo or EA Sports will), and I don't have a nice background of games to trust (like Mega Man or Mighty Flip/Switch/Shantae).

@Butts: Obligatory Backy.

It’s 2014. How is this still a thing

Because, technically speaking, if there are 12 million bronies in the US alone, and the US has around 300 million residents, around four percent of the United States' population are bronies. Or, if you prefer, three South Carolinas.

Hey guys, I haven't been on for a few days, but I'd just like to wish you all a happy new y-

@Japanese videos
That bu bu bu is going to be stuck in my head for a while now, and the Japanese Derpy sounds cute!

@Butts

On an unrelated note, today is exactly one year after I made my account here. I enjoy coming to this site everyday, even though I'm not the most active user, I still want to thank you all for making this a great first year.

Is that Cutie mark what I think it is?

I think so… Yes I think so.. I personally don't currently have a real reaction to it yet, and I won't until I see it in the show but it is very curious indeed… I don't know what to think… I need context…

Alright everyone, 3……2……..1! Spoiler tags are no longer needed when talking about RARITY TAKES MANEHATTAN

Wow…..so this is what it feels like to watch a new Rarity episode, haven't felt this in years. It feels good, also, I've never understood the hate for Dave Polsky a lot of people have for the guy. Sure his episodes feel a little more 'different' than the rest of the series but (I may change this after rechecking out all the episodes he wrote) but the only stinker I've seen from him was Keep Calm and Flutter On, which still wasn't really his fault as he had to write around a premise given to him by a 15 year old Brony who had connections to the guy who signs Meghan McCarthy's paychecks which was basically "Wouldn't it be amay-zing if Fluttershy and Discord were roommates?" Okay anyways, enough about Dave Polsky here.

Well anyways, I thought the episode was pretty good. It was great to see Best Pone get an episode and have the other 5 best pone's join her. I particularly liked the moral of the episode, a nice little something to teach the kids watching this in a world where we all like to screw each other over. Also, Rarity Singing: Yes. Just yes. Plus who can hate Dave Polsky using Rainbow Dash as a way to point out the silliness of a musical (which indirectly starts a musical number itself) and pointing out Applejack's brutal honesty. I'll have to watch it again later, but until then I say it was a pretty good episode.

In a slightly related note, how much do you guys want to bet that a shitload of clop artists are already planning out porn of Cunt of the week's Assistant the second the episode ended? I mean she was cute and you know how much the internet likes to make cute things into porn.

Dudes if the 5 of the mane 6 overslept in the hotel why did the bellhop say he saw them leave? What's up with that railing that made Rarity go rainbow eyed? That spool looks important but it ain't gonna fit through no keyhole so what gives? O_o

The eighth episode of season 4 is called 'Rarity takes Manehattan'. The eighth Friday the 13th movie is called 'Jason takes Manhattan'.

About the episode, it was pretty meh. The story was bland and predictable. There was a few funny moments with Rainbow Dash, but nothing about this episode really stood out (except for that cutie mark).

You see, Sweetie Belle is a lot like the St. Louis Rams. Nobody's really sure if they actually exist or not. They just seem to be there to fuck your shit up.

@Episode
I found it to be a very enjoyable episode. The moral was actually useful and fairly well done and I look forward to seeing that antagonist brutally murdered by Rarity in the "Rarity's a serial killer" [Grimdark]s that are weirdly popular on Fimfiction. I was also glad they didn't make Manehatten too modern.

On the downside, I'm growing increasingly annoyed by PRINCESS Twilight Sparkle's lack of princessness. It's all right that you can write Twilight off as being too "humble" or "timid" or whatever to whip out the princess card and pull rank, but that fact that nobody--especially strangers who have never seen her before--even mention or react to the fact that there's an alicorn and one who just had a massive coronation party not several months earlier is disappointing and getting somewhat sad.

You can't really say the status quo has changed when there's nothing different. It's starting to remind me (disturbingly) of Pokemon, where big status quo "changes" happen every couple of seasons (switching regions) and yet nothing actually changes.

7.0/10.

@Episode endings
Am I the only one who thinks that they're just "fun" endings and won't ever be mentioned or used again? All these people thinking that Flutterbat or the Shadow Pony are going to be big plot points down the road are going to be bummed out.

And then Rarity and her gang of backwards-walking mercenaries came and ruined everyone's day.

Anyway, yeah, the episode. I liked it! I mean, it isn't the best this season or anything, but it is so refreshing to have a Rarity episode. I forgot how many good one-liners she gets.

The show must have found their lost bucket of facial expressions, because we are seeing some new ones. Also, great one-liner.

I love this new smile they made. They used it on the CMC that one time, and I think on Rarity before the song started. Either way, it's really cute.

I'll let the next two speak for themselves.

Enter new fandom cutie. Well, she earns the title. Though I do sorta worry that Suri is going to suffer from 'BlueBlood Syndrome' and become a fandom dartboard despite not really being any worse than characters before her, like Chrysalis or Trixie. I actually enjoyed the character a lot, though maybe I just like her little 'Okay…' verbal tic. I've always liked characters with verbal tics. Like how JuneBug said 'Uh' before every line during her appearance.

ORGIES!
…I'm sorry.

Cue the Rarity-ness.

ISN'T. FRIENDSHIP. MAGIC!?
God I love Rarity.

Foreshadowing…

Coco, you already won the prize of new fandom cutie. You can stop now. Speaking of prizes…

Rarity, here's your 'best at being the second best mane 6 pony' award.

What was that thing that was teased a little while ago?

Well, I could be wrong, but I think this proves that the stuff that has been teased so far this season probably is building up to something, or at least a bunch of smaller things. And seeing as I'm out of gifs, let's just bring this one back for good measure…

I was looking forward to this episode for quite a while, and even though it wasn't the greatest episode of all it still satisfied me and I think this was an episode and lesson very fitting for Rarity. I like this continuing trend of the mane 6 being together without it feeling like they are just sitting around doing nothing the entire episode. It's also nice to see Twilight as the voice of reason again instead of the Twilight we got last episode who only considered one side of an argument and ran with it. Thank god she didn't try to cast a spell to sew the clothes faster only to have then turn sentient and attack their wearers or something like that. There have been complaints about Dave Polsky's writing in the past because his episodes feel very different from other episodes, but I actually think that this episode felt more like a part of the norm than any other episode so far this season, and I like that. Moving on, I think this episode carried a very important lesson that anyone should learn, not letting people screwing you over keep you from being nice to other people. And this wasn't just a lesson shoehorned into the end, either. We see throughout the entire episode how Rarity's acts of generosity have come back to her in a good way.

Overall, I give this episode a solid passing grade.

You know how some people get a reaction like "I can't watch this" when they see something terrible about to happen yet they can't do anything about it?

I get that… And when I get that I stop watching…

The weird part is the thing that made me stop watching this episode was what looked to be that sewing club mare about to take credit for Rarity's fabric.

The feeling will probably pass eventually… And then I'll be able to watch the rest of the episode without feeling like I'll be stabbed in the feels.

(Don't laugh, its a serious problem. I can't even attempt to write sad moments in a story without wondering if I'll burst into tears myself, and it's almost impossible for me to stomach reading "sad fics".)
