Speaking of thread, when are we voting on the name of the new one? (Which probably won’t be for another twelve seasons since you guize are so fucking slow…)

First, Blue Screen needs to start having visions of the "glorious future" he will lead us into, then Verbose needs to warn us of the coming storm that he's been having visions of, only for us to scoff at his silliness and internet knowledge of the Pokemon games. Then, Disturbed B needs to be murdered by a social network person he was getting involved with, only for it to be revealed several days before page 200 that he knew Blue Screen's dark secret, a secret he would kill to protect.

Rated PG-13. Coming to a Forum near you.

Wow – mention the new titles once and everyone shoots for the archives.

Serious business right her.

And congrats on the get.

A summary of past titles:

  • KYM Pony General
  • KYM Pony General 2.0
  • KYM Pony General III: This time, it's personal…
  • KYM Pony General IV: Electric Scootaloo
  • KYM Pony General V: We Just Don't Know What Went Wrong
  • KYM Pony General VI: Return of the Poni
  • KYM Pony General VII: Live Free or Twi Hard

My Suggestions:

  • VIII: The Ride Never Ends
  • VIII: One Pony Away From A Cease and Desist
  • VIII: Crazy Ponies (As in 8 Crazy Nights)
  • VIII: (Pick a title and poni it.)
  • VIII: The Eighth Wonder of Equestria
  • VIII: The Lucky Thread of the Horse (It's the year of the Horse and Eight is a lucky number in China.)
  • VIII: Now with more Oxygen! (The atomic number for Oxygen is eight.)
  • VIII: To ∞ and Beyond! (because an eight sideways is…well…meh. Ignore this one.)

I'm fine with "VIII: What isn't our fetish?" but I just wanted to throw these out there since eight only comes once. (Assuming we can even count to 10.) Now have some cute!

Psst.
Hay.
That new episode with the super secret special guest… oh who am I kidding? We all know who it is by now.
Point is that you can buy it in advance if you want. So if you're like me and you would rather wait for the actual air date, just be aware that very soon, some brony sites are going to be a big ol' Cheese Sandwich of spoilers.

Gentlemen…
The ScratchMobile:

Gotta say, slightly disappointed that the glasses aren't quite up to Scratch's level, but that's a pretty rockin' car!

@Chinese New Year
China gets to have all the fun!

Someone over there is really going all-out to take advantage of this 'Year of the Horse' thing.
No complaints here!

@Episode
Ah, I was wondering if we'd be seeing more leaks.
They had actually been pretty good about it the last few weeks.
Still going to hang on for Saturday, though.
<div class=spoiler title="Also, continuing the trend…">

SOURCE (He's up for sale, too!)
Yep, we're now making plushies days before the episodes actually air.
Pretty soon people will be making plushies that the writers then create episodes from!

Oh, and are we just posting pure, uncut adorableness?

@The glorious DeadParrot

Ah, I was wondering if we’d be seeing more leaks.
They had actually been pretty good about it the last few weeks.
Still going to hang on for Saturday, though.

I don't know if I would call it a leak (unless by "leak" *YOU*_ meant "early release")… seems more like they *ARE*_ aware how much HOT, sticky hype that this episode has so it didn't matter if they put it out early. I could be wrong, but they released it in two different places, so… whatever. I'll be waiting along with DEADPARROT.

In other recently discovered news, you know how I went through the Backy tumblr a little while ago? Well, when I was done, I ASSked them a few questions myself, and one of them got picked! Hooray!

That little sphere in the sunglasses is me! I know it is too, because I remembered the wording of the question. I mean, I can't prove it to YOU but you guys trust me by now, right?

I asked this question because it ticked all the mental boxes I had set up:

  • Avoids blatantly forcing the artist into a specific answer (Check).
  • Is open ended enough to let the artist answer in any way they like (Check).
  • Never been asked before (Check).
  • High chance of close-up on butt (Check).

The last one was the most important. (Yeah, I think that's enough of me talking about butts for a while. I'm sure you're getting sick of it.)

I love it when stuff like this happens. It's similar to one time I reported an error in TF2 that nobody else noticed and I got an Email saying "Good eye!" from one of the people from Valve (The one about the Engineer training images being swapped for those of you wondering.) It feels like a way of writing "Stunthead waz here" on the internet. Anyone else have little moments like this they want to share?

It's been serious business since there was election fraud, although it might go back even further. I wasn't here for the previous thread titles.

Thanks for the congrats.

God, that looks hideous. I wonder what the IIHS's rating on a giant sunglasses windshield is? If that thing actually appears in the movie… it might be worth watching just for the narm alone. Lord knows my sides need an extraterrestrial outing.

Hey… Remember that time I said Lyra was basically Miku Hatsune?

Well… I did a thing.

…Still needs to be colored properly, and the hands are being crazy as usual… But eh, I'm mostly happy with it.

That said… It turns out that It's hard to get a thinner chested body to look right… And also Miku Hatsune figurines have horribly long legs that give horribly distorted proportions that look wrong… So no matter what I did I'd end up fussing around with something. Which I did.

Wow, TSG is paying more attention to thread title details than I am.

TSG, have you considered the possibility that you are just a leeeeeeeetle too overly obsessed with the whole thread title thing? Since you obviously have the date penned in all your calendars

@The scratchmobile

Holy hell, looks like Vinyl Scratch sent her Prius to Pimp My Ride and Xhibit just went to town on the damn thing

@Lunar

How does that look colored?

Oh no guys! If you haven't caught one of the leaks of the episode by now, make sure you have an emergency defibrillator on hand. I was sad by the time I hit the 6 minute mark, but I hit the 8 minute mark and had to take a break. IT'S SOOOOOOO SAD! ='(

Wish me luck, I'm going back in now to finish the rest of the episode. If I don't report back, I'll be in a closet crying for the next month.

(Also, I didn't slept at all last night, so not sure how that effects my perception of sad levels. lol.)

Edit:

SHIT GOT INTENSE AND AWESOME FAST! I'll join in after everyone has watched it, but that Cheese vs Pinkie song! WOW! And the song where Pinkie realized she was a super party pony! Only MLP could make you feel sad while making you laugh and then make you super happy again! Now to finish the last 5 min!

Edit again! This is all I feel like now! 3 minutes left!

EDIT 3.0: SO MUCH SQUEE! This one take the cake for me as best episode of the season! I love it!!!!

Oh, no no no no that's not what I meant!

What I meant to ask is how it looks when you fully color it in

@Grey Hoof

Scour all surrounding area's of bandits and Hyperion robots, ensure Fluttershy's safe passage

She's probably worth tons of EXP, but so help me Jack I will not let anyone shoot her down

What's funny about this is, at one point in my Sims 3 game, Vinyl actually had a Prius. No joke.

@Weird Al ep

Yeah, that….that was something…

I didn't really much care for this one. I Thought it all felt very awkward and forced, and I found it very hard to maintain my suspension of disbelief. I just don't think Al and Al's kind of humor mixes all that well with mlp. It all just felt a bit too surreal and cartoony for me (Yes, I did just complain about a cartoon being too cartoony). It kind of goes back to that trend I pointed out a few weeks ago how pony has been slowly getting less tight and more pop culturey and vapid.

The music was also surprisingly disappointing for a collaboration by two songwriters I really enjoy.

Yeah, this one was a flop in my opinion. Oh well.

Last edited Feb 01, 2014 at 11:17AM EST

I'm just glad that this episode wasn't a disappointment like Power Ponies, an episode so hyped up but managed to live up to its hype IMO. Also, they DID kind of do a Weird Al parody of one of the Pony songs, something I secretly wanted but didn't think they'd actually do so I'm good here.

BSOD wrote:

…Oops!

This is embarrassing and awkward for everyone involved.

In any case, I just finished blocking out the colors so it's now roughly how it should look. Even though there still needs to be shading and that added… And a background for that matter… And I only just noticed I still haven't added the cutie mark yet.

I also adjusted a few things I thought could look better as well. Namely more messing around with that one hand and a mild change to the eyes.

Which reminds me… I was on a live stream of someone doing their own update… And I was told some things about shading so now I'm probably going to wind up messing around with that for a while.

at first I was like

but then I was all

and then ponka severed dash's spine.

Anyways that was seriously a good'un. So much singing, cuteness, and wacky shit! And Weird Al makes a better pony than I could have imagined.

Also this part was pure feels.

Also something awesome I saw in the livestream I watched

It was hilarious. I had to pause the video at least three times because I was laughing hysterically. I like Pinkie Pie episodes, it seems every time a new one comes out it's my new favorite. Both Pinkie Pie and Weird Al were very funny. I think my favorite part was when it went live action.

I have to agree, some of the parts were a little too cartoony, but they were also pretty funny. I couldn't stop laughing at some parts. On top of that, it was a really moving episode, and it actually gave me a lot if feels.
And about the music, well, I agree that not all the music in the episode was good, but I thought the song at the end was one of the best in the series. Personally, I think this was by far one if the best episodes of the season.

You know, after hearing Weird Al singing that lyric from Smile in his typical Weird Al fashion this reminds me of his Polkas.

Good Ol' Weird Al Polkas. Now I want to see him do a Pony Polka as I have a feeling he could make a nice 3 minute song out of bits and pieces from the songs of the show and bring them to a new level: Weird Al Level. Hey, he did one for Pokemon. Hell might freeze over one day so there's a chance he could make a Pony Polka! Or never make one after this suggestion gets posted all over the Ponyweb causing every brony to spam Weird Al shouting "MAKE PONY POLKA FOR US YOU PLEB!!!!" annoying him to brand new levels.

Also, just in case you haven't already go check out Weird Al live one day. It's probably the most fun 'concert' I've ever seen that's for sure. Also, I am not just a mindless puppet that Weird Al is using to put him on a pedestal so high that he's almost as high as Jesus at this point: I'm just a plain old pone thread enthusiast. Alright Al I said it, can I have my family back now?

You know, with all of these special voice actors things coming up, I just realized something! In the pony dubs to other languages, they're going to loose the "special guest" voice actors and not get to have the hype of having DeLancie or Weird Al on the show! The episode won't get that extra hype! =(

At the same time I feel super privileged for getting to hear these actors in a language I know! God I love being american! XD

Edit: @Kewln00bs: Yeah, they might do something, but I don't even know who does all of the language direction stuff over seas. For all we I know they don't even have a budget to really work with and are strictly in it to make it a cash cow, low budget production. I guess it might be fair to say they get the same treatment as us. I mean china did get this:

Which is kinda similar to the "Friendship Express" thing they did at SDCC:

They're obviously putting a little bit of money and extra treatment into it instead of "lets' produce cheap dub overs to sell twice the toys!"

There's probably some wacky Japanese celebrity they can get for Cheese and some distinguished celebrity for Discord. Only thing they'll miss out on is the whole "Discord is based off of Q and is VOICED by Q as well!" situation.

Yep, that character is so much Q and it was only right for them to get John de Lancie for it.

Speaking of guest stars, after today's episode I had to go back and watch Al's stuff, Amish Paradise, Virus Alert, Eat It, things like that.

No shortage of awesome there Al, none at all.

Blue Screen said:

What makes you say that?

@Episode
I liked it. Pinkie has never been my favorite character but I though tthat they handled her very well in the episode. She wasn't ear-bleedingly annoying like she can sometimes get. I also really liked the fact that Cheese Sandwich wasn't a villain or even really antagonistic. He was just a normal guy (well, maybe abnormal) who was planning Dash's party and Pinkie just happened to be left high and dry.

The songs were eh. Personally, I'd rather have one long song then five super short ones. Polka's never really been my genre but I though tit went well. Certainly something we don't normally see. They really need to work on Dash's ego, though. Me thinks another Mare Do Well is going to be in order soon with the way she's been acting.

7.3/10.

Whoa! I missed this entertainment weekly article 2 days ago. Looks like some of the new books coming out include:

  • A poster book with 40 removable posters!!!
  • The Journal of the Two Sisters (Similar to the Elements of Harmony book) by A.K. Rogers!
  • My Little Pony: The Daring Do Adventure Collection!!! (With at least 3 books coming!)

That's all the article mentioned, but some of the pics are pretty freakin awesome. I'll probably line my bookshelves with them! So long money! XD

I really enjoyed this episode and I think Weird Al gelled with the show pretty well. Most of the songs were pretty good too. The only thing that kept bugging me throughout was the pacing. I thought the setup of the episode in the beginning was excellent, showing both Cheese and Pinkie being admired for their work, and then it started to go downhill once Pinkie started feeling outshined. It felt like Pinkie was going through emotions way too quickly. First she's excited to work with another party pony, then less than two minutes later she's bummed because Cheese said one line about how there was no one like him, which somehow puts her into this state of feeling worthless, then she has her sad song and halfway through sees some pictures and suddenly realizes she's awesome again with almost no transition from one extreme to the other, and then she gets competitive and two minutes later she realizes she was wrong for getting carried away. It's like there was no time to breathe and have Pinkie transition from emotion to emotion, she was on one end of the spectrum one minute and then the very next moment she's on the other end of it. It also bothered me that Pinkie's "rainbow beam" happened during her sad song without her noticing and her eyes didn't shine until later, when the other two times the pony in question was noticing the rainbow beam when they came upon their realization of who they are or whatever. That last part is a nitpick, but still.

@Mike and Mark
Well, I suppose at least two people seem to be in support of the butt-talk. I guess I'll stick with it!

@Extisgex

They really need to work on Dash’s ego, though.

What part do you mean? I didn't really notice anything wrong with it. Unless you just mean the general size and scale of the party, in which case I would probably disagree with it being about her ego. It's just a big party that Pinkie seemed to want to throw. Unless I'm missing something obvious.

This is probably just my bias for Dash, but I think she's been written well this season. She's very boastful and talks herself up a lot but not quite to the level of it being a major issue that needs to be adressed. Sort of like with Fluttershy's shyness. Nobody should call Fluttershy out for that. It's just how her mind works. It's the same for Dash. A flaw is just an extention of a personality trait, and I'm always happy when I see a show that can portray that well.

Also, yeah, I made sort of a reversal of the "Fluttershy's shyness should be treated as a flaw, not an excuse to look cute" complaint, but that's just fan works. The show does it fine.

Hahaha, I covered my bases. Now they'll never know that I'm actually just bias towards Dash!

@Episode
I managed to find pics of everything I wanted to say this time! Hooray!

The cakes and Diamond Tiara singing… nice! Surprisingly nice, actually. This is making me feel a little sad that we didn't get the original smile song where Pinkie spoke to individual ponies like this.
DT has a really good singing voice, too. It's a shame the voice actress hasn't had the chance to sing for her before now. "Sure it was pretty good all thanks to Pinkie Pie~"

"Uh, Pinkie… could you maybe not sit on me like that?"
I saw this first time through. Then I asked myself why.

"Hoookay…"

Actually, something I noticed… they say it's her birthday and anniversary of when she moved to Ponyville, but… wouldn't that be the same on every birthday? So why were the others so surprised? Unless she meant her one year anniversary. Then again, considering how she only made friends with Pinkie in "Griffon the Bursh Off", I suppose maybe she really has been living in Ponyville for only a year. Huh… that may shift some headcanons a little.

Also, Cheese Sandwich shouted "FEELS GOUDA!" at one point. That made me laugh.

I guess this is just how they say hello now. Going to be hard to do over the phone.

"Great. Good job, Pinkie. Cherry's dead now."
Also, why is that cupcake iced to match the coats of the mane 6? Stop getting ideas, Pinkie.
By the way, didn't expect them to show a surgery. No blood or anything obviously, but by the way he was sweating it's pretty clear that it was indeed already in progress and not just about to begin. I very oddly like seeing things like surgery, funerals and even just toilets in this show. Gives a sense of "Yeah, we're magic and all but we still need to do stuff like cut ponies open sometimes. Not everything is just up to a magic spell.

This is the second time this building has been destroyed. I wonder what it was going to be. An orphanage, probably.

This is the SADDEST possible way to deflate a balloon.

…Well hi there, new sister. Nice to meet you. You should go join Sweetie and Shining Armor in the Suddenly Siblings Club.

Derpy. Derpy, what are you doing? Derpy, I know you're excited about being back on the show being part of little gags, but pace yourself. I hear people get really upset when cute things like birds stick their heads in those.
Also, Rarity, I know you like hitting on stallions, but pace yourself. Before long we'll be getting episodes all about this sort of thing and all the bronies will get upset about it. Save your strength.

I loved the little "Hm?" noise Fluttershy made here. Is that the sort of thing they would put in the script or is it just the natural way Andrea read that line?

Pinkie! STOP GETTING IDEAS!
So, do you think this really was a nod to Cupcakes? Because I know it would still make sense if Cupcakes was never written, but then again, that doesn't disprove it seeing as all good references should make sense in the context of the story. And how much closer to a cupcakes reference can they get than Pinkie holding a rainbow cupcake shaped like RD? I really am starting to think that it isn't the most unlikely thing in the world…

Oh hey, Cherry isn't dead. I don't know if that's more or less funny than if she had vanished for the rest of the episode.

Also, just as a general note, this was my favorite song in the episode. It really felt like a Weird Al Polka Medley to the point where I even wondered if they actually were taken from somewhere else. But no, just the Smile song (it was really cool to hear Al sing the Smile song) and Dale Dale Dale (and it was really cool to hear Pinkie sing in a different language).

…Uh, Derpy? You okay? What are you doing with that stuffed animal? Why are you staring at Boneless?
Guys, I think we broke Derpy.

Gummy on the other hand looks great.

Aww, Dash looks so sad trapped under there. "Well, I guess this is my life now."
Also, does anyone else find it funny that the eye-rainbows thing was triggered by Dash this time rather than just a light reflection? Because I do.

"Uh… Dashie? Could you maybe not rub my nose like that?"

Oh hey! Filly background ponies! Flitter, Cloudchaser, Lyra (hanging out with Bon Bon), Bon Bon (who looks like Twist for some reason), Derpy (with Dinky's mane style) and Colgate (with braces!)

"Uh, background pony? Could you maybe not boost me up like that?"

YOU AGAIN! Damn these eagles! They always come when you least expect them to!

And as a final note, can I mention how much the last few minutes felt like a season finale? Big night party, upbeat song where they all see off the new pony at the end like the season 2 finale, different credit song like the season 3 finale? I can't be the only one who felt like that.

Overall a really fun episode. Worthy of containing the Weirdest of Als, if I do say so myself.
