As far as I know, no. The only merchandise she's been in is the official Equestria Girls comic.

In unofficial merchandise related news, this pretty mare will now be a long-term companion for my desk.

Can anyone say, "best pony"?

I can say "Best Pony" But obviously this guy can't

↑↑↑That image is best image. lol.↑↑↑

On a side note of best princess…

I picked up the two on the right the other day. Originally I was just going to ignore this set since I don't really like the non-brushie-able mane and forelock (and I was really upset they didn't include Applejack), but my mom surprised me with Pinkie after watching my brother last week while she was out of town. (She doesn't really hate the pony, but she hates me liking loving them. She banned them from the house.) But anyways, I now have these three. I was going to trade Pinkie in for Rarity, but I can't decide what to do. I feel like I should just sell these since I have Pinkie and Luna from the actual toy aisle set (along with others. I have the Con DJ-Pon3), but part of me wants to collect them all. I'm so torn!

Edit: I feel like I should at least keep the Pon3 one, but Luna is best princess, and I really like Rarity. But then how would I leave Twilight, and-OH GAWD this is a slippery slope.

Edit: I've been meaning to have this discussion with you guys, and I want to see what you think on this. If you don't want to post your opinions here, you're more than welcome to inbox me. Just remember, "Rule 6: Be friendly."

So I've wondered where you guys/gals think the line should be drawn? How far is too far? Is there a place where liking the show should cease? What do I mean by this?

I recently acquired what you are currently seeing in the image above. (I say this nondescriptly because, for reasons, I may want to remove the image at a later time.) Online purchasing has been my friend and bane. I was able to purchase these after much deciding, but of course this is not the only "pony swag" I own. Is there a point where it's been taken too far???

</existential questioning>

@Cute Master
Well, I make sure that any personal beliefs and hobbies do not interfere with my job and try not to mix it with my studies. Especially with ponies. So, when would the limit be drawn? In this case, it should be when you can't do or think about anything but ponies. It's when you allow it to become an obsession instead of a hobby when that limit should be drawn.
As for ponyswag, I don't think it's bad to own a complete set of ponies or whatnot if you have the money for it. In my case, I don't purchase ponyswag since I find it a waste of money. Instead, I purchase pencils and paper to draw my own stuff. It makes me feel better when I make something instead of buying it.

Anyway, that's pretty much all I can say for the moment.

God, this image…

The Cute Master :3 posted:

Is there a point where it’s been taken too far???

That point… Only exists so far as when you decide you have enough stuff.

In theory… You probably won't get to that point because you wouldn't get something you don't want.

…Though its always possible you may already have a few things that you look at and think they're not as good a quality as other stuff you already have… And then that's the point you take the stuff you don't like and give it to someone else.

For me… I think I'd be fine collecting a mountain of beautiful soft plushies, but a pile of crappy ones probably is going to make me feel… Disappointed.

Speaking of Ms. Harshwhinny:

Sounds like we will get to hear a bit more from our favorite professional soon!

@Disturbed

Enjoy your Derp(ke)y!

@CrazyC
Oh, nice!
I remember seeing that Luna going up for sale.
Cool to know who got it!
Didn't she allow you to choose what was painted on her sweater?
Love the Orion!

@Birthday Game
Applejack, Carrot Top and I share a house.

I'm going to be breaking up a lot of fights, aren't I?

Someone taking pony merch too far?

I feel like I should plead the fifth on this question…

<div class=spoiler title="Me, Re: Pony">

BUT LET'S KEEP GOING AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS!

Honestly, though, it's basically up to you.
I have plenty of pony, but you would probably never guess if you met me anywhere other than my house, but that's me.
I'm nowhere near comfortable enough to show off my pony in public, but more power to those who aren't hindered by crippling embarrassment.
As long as you aren't being exceptionally creepy or forcing ponies into every interaction or something, you should be fine.

@-Plushmaster- Deadparrot:

Oh no, I'm just as uncomfortable with showing it off in public as you probably. I used to wear the occasional pony seatbelt belt or pin, but that all changed when the fire nation attacked when I came home and my mom had boxed everything up (including the posters I had carefully placed on the wall). Now I'm living with my Dad and he doesn't even know I'm a brony. (He's the type that pretty much wouldn't understand, period.) All my merch is still boxed up except for these socks and polo I just got and my wallet and keychain. Hell, I don't even take my wallet out of my pocket without shielding the Derpy on it with my hand. I caught my self doing it subconsciously the other day. Still a stable brony I guess.

Edit: Now wouldn't this be awesome to own.

The Cutie Master :3:

How far is too far?

I've always seen tattoos as being past the line, but I'm against tattoos in general. The thought of being ninety and having this shriveled up, wrinkled, veiny Fluttershy on your arm. Ugh. I think the same goes for those who change their name.

Speaking of blindbags,

I like Ashens, but that intro is kind of cringy. For someone who has a degree in psychology, he sure does like the "ironic/troll" idea behind the fandom (and porn). Why is it so hard to accept that people like a cartoon? The comments, though. They could fill the Cringeworthy Thread for days…

There's also the first instance of potential rigging in the Straw Poll. "Quit with the 'Ponies for Prosperity SuperPAC' shit already." is not a valid KYM user name. It might not be rigging, though, as there are fifteen votes, but sixteen usernames.

Don't blame me about the SuperPAC. Blame Citizens United v Federal Election Commission.

"Why do you ask what…"
"… when the delicious question is when?"

"Trades, traded, will trade…"
"… It is only a matter of perspective."
(I think I found my favorite reference in this series!)

Now, die!
All of you, die!

AHAHAHAHA!

Oops…

They broke Dashie…

This was a fun little episode.
Nothing to wild or crazy, but everyone felt in-character and there were plenty of entertaining moments.

Lookout guys! We've got an OC! Not only that, a Tragic OC.

I thought the episode was good, nice little message at the end. Seeing Rarity and Applejack basically argue over who was being more generous the entire episode was pretty funny. I can see some new Brazzers edits being made with quite a few scenes involving that dog….Speaking of that fucking dog, the whole twist of "I watched that thing all day and I don't want it anymore because it's crazy" seems pretty stupid. You mean it took you ALL DAY to realize that thing was fucked up when it destroyed a lamp, chewed through a chain and not even the crazy looking scary ass pony with the possible scar/tattoo across its eye couldn't handle it? Seriously, I would've looked at it after it chewed through the chain and said "On Second thought just try to get me some sort of Daring Doo Merchandise".

Oh, yeah. Whenever I saw that guy, I kept thinking, "This is like it's straight out of Pony Creator…"

Also, doesn't this guy look a little… BDSM-like?

Yup, I'd been waiting since January, when she announced she'd be making another one, for it to pop up. I told her I was wanting to buy it within 5 minutes after it was put up on dA (lucky timing for me).

It's a winter sweater. Orion is a winter constellation. It all works out~

Really though, she did a beautiful job with it.

Honestly, with that scar on his face and the fact that he keeps monsters from ancient Greek mythology for pets, I'm thinking he's a ponified version of a certain video game character:

I remember a while ago when we were debating whether we could finish the thread before the season started. Oh well.

@Thread age: Whoa! We've slowed down on the posting rate quite a bit I guess. Seems like we used to go at least a page a day. I mean we got up to 6 1/2 threads in BEFORE season 4, and now it's taken us over a month to get in 10 pages. lol.

@Episode: I liked it. It kept my attention and didn't really feel childish like it can feel at times. Truly and entertaining episode. It was almost like watching an episode about the Craigslist /barter/ section where people are always trying to trade up. lol.

Sidenote: So I watched today's episode on Hubworld since they've been doing really well at getting the episode up the day of. In the background of the page I noticed this vector of RD and couldn't help not extracting it. Anyone know what episode it's from???

While I was extracting it I happened to accidentally make this:

I downloaded Inkscape so I can try to make a vector of it because it's really cool and stuff. lol. We'll see how it turns out.

It's not from an episode at all, it was some a promotional poster/picture that's regularly seen on the Hub Website.

@Kewln00bs: Well then, that would be why I don't recognize it. I've only been to the Hub's website a handful of times, mostly to see the new episodes. I feel like I need to make more of these Neon Dashies however. Anyone got any suggestions of images to convert? Or maybe I should try some neon vinyls. lol.

(Also, searching for neon ponies turns up some pretty cool wallpapers. I think I know what I'm doing for the next 30mins. *Fuken Saved*)

Alright, I'm gonna talk about the episode this time.

I liked it. Of course, this is one of those episodes where all the ponies suddenly care that Twilight is a Princess. It's just weird to me that level of "fucks we give" varies from episode to episode ever since Twilight became an Alicorn. You know what I liked about the previous episode? Twilight using her wings. She has them, might as well use them. I really enjoyed seeing Twilight flying with Rainbow Dash in the sky. But now I'm getting off topic. This weeks episode was good too. It had a lot of funny moments.

Hey guys! It's been a while since I said something constructive…
…And it's going to continue to be a while! Because I'm just here to say that starting in less than two hours, I will have been on this site for two years! PARTY TIME!

I expect a fresh batch of anniversary butts on my wall by the time I wake up tomorrow. You may continue with your pony now. I'll jump in when I have something more constructive to say. So maybe next decade.

Yaaay! Happy anniversary!

woah woah WOAH back the fuck up. a pony general lasted a whole year!?

That's really something. It used to be we blew through these things in like 3 months. If I'm not mistaken only the first pony general lasted this long.

@Deadparrot

Of course! 80s ponies knew how to party.

@new episode

That was a pretty great episode imo. Rainbow Dash's trading crisis reminded me of the trading games in Zelda. Plus there was a lot of cool stuff like the double dog and god of war pony. I laughed quite a lot too especially at this part.

DOUBLE PRINCEEEEESS!

And now, Iamslow delivers the hnnng induced heart attack at 10:33 AM central Murrican time.

Happy Easter!

@Iamslow
Hyah! SHAH!

Yeah, I thought of the Zelda trading games the instant Dash's little quest began, too.

In case anyone was curious about the wheeled pony from this last episode:

He was actually voiced by a young boy who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy type III and he was granted this part (and an official character to go with it) by a joint effort of the Make a Wish Foundation and DHX.
I'll admit that I found him a little awkward in the episode, mostly due to the color palette and the acting being a little off, but knowing the full story makes him pretty cool.
I did like the fact that he was clearly disabled, yet he did not seem to be treated any differently than anyone else by the ponies.
He was just another guy… selling Discord lamps.
(Now, I realize that a lot of this was likely because the writing and recording all took place long before the character was designed so no lines wouldn't have been possible for them to reference it anyway, but it is still a nice touch.)

Now that I think about it, Derpy had a similar first outing, with her being treated like any other pony, and this was also exemplified by Dash yelling at her.
Apparently, if you want to show acceptance of disabilities, just make a character talk to Rainbow Dash.
>inb4 Scootaloo

@Episode
I thoroughly enjoyed it, although Pinkie continues to affirm her Worst Pony status. Yeah, Pinkie, terrify a little girl, not let her have valuable learning materials that would have very likely fostered a desire and thirst for knowledge, and turn Twilight into a hoarding packrat. That's great.

One thing I've noticed they've increasingly had problems with is the need to force the Mane Six together. You have episodes where Twilight, Fluttershy, etc only say a line or two and really add nothing to the story. Then you have Pinkie, who's role has rapidly become "act like as big of a dick as possible" because they just can't find anything else for her to do.

This was the kind of thing they needed to do--break things down and give the characters more balanced screentime. If you're going to do a "Fluttershy" episode, then focus on Fluttershy, and don't crm in characters where they're not needed.

Dash was Dash--bold, aggressive, and stupid. /mlp/ loves complaining about "characterization"--it's the main component in "the show sucks now" or "x was terrible," but I saw Dash as being pretty in-character. She always seemed like the type to not read the fine print and just hastily plow forward. I wonder what her mortgage contract looks like?

The part I'm happiest about has to be Twilight's role. Finally, after most of the season, they're starting to wring the Princess angle for some plot elements. Not only that, but she did the role of arbitrator flawlessly. Instead of buckling to her bias and siding with Dash, she took the strict legal overview of the case (if both ponies get what they want, it's a fair trade) and applied it. Already she's showing maturity and we haven't even gotten the "needs of the many" moral decision yet.

8.0/10.

@Shitstorm
Since we had another convention, it's not surprising there's another shitstorm. This one comes courtesy of the Writers Panel and the formal torpedoing of Sparity--which becomes the first ship to officially be sunk (via Word of God).

Meghan McCarthy said:

He is a child…she is a grown up…

Amy Keating Rogers said:

She's a grownup, he's a little boy. It's not appropriate.

This has caused a substantial jimmy rustling, not only of Sparity folks, but by Spike fans in general, who, tired of all the Spikeabuse, see this as a sort of "straw that broke the camel's back" kind of thing.

Personally, I've always disliked Sparity for the same reasons as the writers and see it as a simple boyhood crush, but it certainly doesn't help /mlp/'s perception of the writers that Spike almost constantly gets the short end of the stick and now, one of his main character attributes has been effectively rendered pointless.

@QWERTY
Andy does great faces, especially for Luna.

More Luna:

Cuteness:

I was actually kind of sad that this only lasted a second or two.
I kind of wish that Dash had just stayed covered in tape, glue, and Band-Aids for the rest of the episode.
It's too cute!

@Sparity controversy

So let me get this straight…we're having a shitstorm because the writers wont give a canon sanction to our favorite bestiality/pedophilia ship?

You know, maybe there's a reason why everyone hates us so much.

@Sparity Sinking

This is why AUs are surprisingly appealing to me, despite my constant internal plea that my ridiculous headcanon remain relatively plausible…

Because it's relatively easy to solve these kinds of problems in an AU… It just requires a little bit of messing around with the order of events.

The ironic thing is, Spike's chronological age relative to his friends is relatively set if one keeps the event where Twilight hatched his egg. And you mess that up and virtually everything goes upside down.

That said… There's always the chance of setting the ship at a point of time in the future when spike's grown up. But then who knows how old Rarity will be then?

Thankfully, there is always time travel.

Last edited Apr 21, 2014 at 01:14PM EDT

So Sparity has been sunk eh? You mean the ship where they pair the equivalent of a 20 something with the equivalent of a 5-10 year old has been sunk? People are surprised that this happened? Anyone actually thought that this would work out in a children's cartoon? Besides, I like the childhood crush Spike has on Rarity a lot more than a possible "THEY'RE FUCKING!" Scenario.

Besides, Spikeabuse is a lot better than any other ponybuse because in newer episodes he just shrugs it off now which makes it a lot funnier. Like when Spike got launched from that trap door in Castle Mane-ia, just got launched 30 feet in the air and smashed on the ground without making a sound. Whereas Twibuse is what makes it hard for me to watch Winter Wrap Up or Feeling Pinkie Keen.

So let me get this straight…we’re having a shitstorm because the writers wont give a canon sanction to our favorite bestiality/pedophilia ship?

Hold on there. Let me go get back my sides.

So does this mean we can continue the Sweeke (Or is it Spelle?) shipping?

@ Sparity
Lunar nailed the point that time-wise, Spike isn't much younger than the Mane 6. But yet he still hasn't grown past an adolescent stage. Why? Because he's a dragon that grows differently than a pony does.

Either by greed or magic, and in both cases, being monitored 24/7 by ponies doesn't give him much opportunity to grow up. Hence, Sparity probably will never be canon. Doesn't mean people will stop shipping the two.

CrashGordon94 wrote:

@"Sparity": Forgive me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it ALWAYS purely one-sided?

Oh ho ho, silly "Still in Season 1 peasant". But in all due seriousness there's an episode in season 2 where there's a moment that makes people think it might not be all 'One sided'. It still no doubt is One sided as Rarity most likely looks at Spike like a good friend or little brother but don't let the Sparity shippers hear that as they will fucking eat you alive.

I was thinking of making that point an explicit part of my post… But I couldn't find a way to say it elegantly, so yeah. Not to mention… Some of its up to interpretation.

I think I was going to make some age estimates; something like Twilight being five or so when she hatched Spike, which in theory would put spike in his mid teens. Though for all I know Twilight could have been closer to eight or ten… Eleven would be as far as I'd push Twilight's age at the time.

So assuming that Twilight started the show at 18… then the lowest Spike's age could have been was 7, with the highest being about 14. However Twilight could have been older than that, and probably is given how many years have probably passed in show time.

I'm going to guess that four years may have passed. Which places Twilight being at minimum as of now… At 22. Which means the youngest Spike can be is 11, and a highest (for twilight being 22) age of about 18.

Considering the number of possible ages where Spike is still a kid is outnumbered by the number of ages he should be a teenager… This either serves as a very good estimation of Twilight's age if Spike is 11 or 12… Or more likely that Spike is indeed aging slowly given that its more likely that Twilight was younger than the maximum her age could have been when Spike was hatched.

That said… We'll have a definitive answer by the time season 5 or 6 rolls around. Depending on whether Spike is growing or not.

(Have I mentioned this isn't a very elegant way of noting ages.)

Ah yes, that's from Carnifex – the patron saint of Sparity (and bondage – lots of bondage). I imagine that this turn of events was hardly optimal for him.

@Sparity
Two things:
#1: No ship has ever been (nor is likely to ever be) canon.
#2: When has #1 ever stopped anyone?

People shipping Spike and Rarity have already had to make a number of alterations to canon to make it 'work' so I don't really see how this changes much of anything.
Shippers gonna ship.

… unless people were actually thinking that the show would have Rarity and Spike start dating or something.
I mean, the show couldn't even commit to having the main character hook up with the guy in the stereotypical 'awkward high school girl' story despite obvious implications.
If they are shying so far away from the low-hanging fruit, I kind of doubt we'll be seeing much in the way of actual relationships from this show, at least for the primary cast.
And one between a kid and an adult should be even further off the radar.

@Sparity 'controversy'

This has caused a substantial jimmy rustling, not only of Sparity folks, but by Spike fans in general, who, tired of all the Spikeabuse, see this as a sort of “straw that broke the camel’s back” kind of thing.

Whoa hold up, hold up, hold up…just one second…hold up….

There are Spike fans?

….

But jokes aside. I agree that there should be no surprise of this outcome. Regardless of how a Dragons technical age works in comparison to a Pone. Fact of the matter stands that Spike is portrayed as very underage in personality compared to Rarity. The general public aren't going to understand any fanon theory that makes it okay. So not pointing that out, let alone allowing Sparity to be canon, would be more controversial than shooting it down.

Is the ship really "sunk" though? No more than any other! Cherimac in no way sunk everything-else-mac and this is no different,

Shipping has no rules. That means no amount of 'word of god' in any way holds it back. The Sparity fans can still Sparity. Nothing is stopping them from continuing to do so.

Nobody can say "You cant ship that! It doesn't work with the canon narrative!" and then turn around and enjoy Kitchensinkdash. In fact 99% of all ships never respected canon in the first place, nor do they need to. So there's no need for anyone to be upset. Now if only I could tell /mlp/ that

Oh ho ho, silly “Still in Season 1 peasant”. But in all due seriousness there’s an episode in season 2 where there’s a moment that makes people think it might not be all ‘One sided’. It still no doubt is One sided as Rarity most likely looks at Spike like a good friend or little brother but don’t let the Sparity shippers hear that as they will fucking eat you alive.

I see, thank you for the explanation! Still sounds like they really didn't mean it that way, but when the so-called shippers are willing to go so far on practically nothing, I could imagine that even a little "encouragement" would go a long way…
With that in mind, isn't it surprising that this:

didn't lead to a resurgence of "Pinkiedash"?

@Harshwhinny numbering: Not that anyone particularly cares, but I decided to go with 48.

Also, I managed to grab an episode so I have some stuff to post now!

I actually saw this one really quite a while ago, so I can to go on the MLP Wiki to refresh myself a little. Don't worry, it's not affecting my judgments or anything.
Before I actually start talking about this episode, I think I ought to confess something: I really dislike the concept of Cutie Marks. Yes, really. Mostly it's two thing: I really hate tattoos for the most part, and "Cutie Mark" just sounds so obnoxiously cutesy to boot… Though I also don't like the way the meaning is often played so fast and loose with them, ranging from "exactly what it says on the tin" to "completely obtuse and sketchy symbolism" on a complete whim.
The opening also bothered me, for an admittedly silly reason… Basically after all the butt fetish stuff I've witnessed in this fandom (and yes, this thread) seeing them do a close-up on all these little kids' hips made me rather uncomfortable and slightly sickened…
More on the fandom angle, it seems they really exaggerate Twist's lisp. It's definitely noticeable but it's not CONSTANT by any means and she does pronounce s sounds properly sometimes, so it's not nearly as severe as most seem to make it out to be.
Oh, and Dash started the whole "try lots of stuff to see if it's your talent" stuff? Basically setting Apple Bloom down on a path that's going to cause them lots of confusion and misery? BAD DASHIE!

Really though, it might be intentional but I see a hole in this plan: Wouldn't it make more sense to stick with each thing until you get it right before moving on? Even if one of those things is your talent, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't get your mark for it if you fuck it up.
Lastly, I'm really kinda confused with the setup with her meeting Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle, because we see them huddle together in the pilot but they apparently meet for the first time in THIS episode…
Overall, this actually is a pretty solid episode, if it sounds like I was whining a lot, I guess I just had more to say about the little problems because other than those and a slightly-too-cutesy-for-my-tastes aura (which was barely noticeable at all), it was fine.

First off, I gotta say this episode has a good moral, I think even some adult fans of the show could do well to remember this one, given some stuff I've heard (for example, in competitive gaming)…
Next as much of an asshole as it might make me sound I also gotta say that Applejack's issues with Dash using her wings didn't sit right with me… If her using her wings gives her an "unfair" advantage then doesn't just mean her wingpower makes her better?
And on that note, some of Dash's victories seemed a little forced, it probably would've been better to just have Applejack won those rather than pull out the "WINGS R CHEATIN!!!111" angle, which quite frankly just makes AJ sound like she's pissed because Rainbow has a talent/skill that she can't use herself…
She might be my favorite character in the show but Twilight seemed a bit forced in this, honestly. She seemed to be basically a blatant moral mouthpiece in this one, and it seemed very corny indeed… Also her placing just seems goofy with how far behind she was at all times and every*one* in front of her of her… And yeah, they explained it with the others tiring themselves out but I still don't really buy it…
Pinkie was a tad obnoxious with her announcements, though it wasn't too bad since she had a minor role at most.
Is this really where the "egghead" thing started? I thought it was "Read It And Wheep" that started it…
Also, the plot catalyst is another manual season-change thing. If I'm quite honestly, I really don't like that part of the show lore, it's really goofy and I tend to have questions along the lines of "why not just leave it in the 'best' state permanently?" as the whole nature of our seasons and why we work with them the way we do is pretty much all because we can't control it and it just happens. If we COULD control the weather things would be very different.
All in all, I actually didn't care much for this episode, aside from the universal "YAY PONIES!" feeling I get from watching ANY episode (watching one is almost like an event to me) it didn't really hold much appeal.

So, for anyone who cares, BABScon ended yesterday, and it was awesome! They featured a lot of different artists/brony celebrities there, including people like KashiiPanda, Pikapetey, Yaplap, dustykatt, and even Andrew Price!

(Sorry for my shitty photography)

Anyways, back on topic

Off topic what about Jan Animations being able to repost 2 videos? I heard he talked to hasbro about it and they let him put em up. Any other information other than that or how this effects the fandom?

↑ Don't think it effects anything atm. I think they let him have back DMaN because it was set in a different universe from the MLP one for the most part, and they own the images of SB and Button, but I doubt it would be fruitful for them to try and defend that in a court of law since it wasn't strictly set in their universe. (That's probably how MAD gets away with it. The whole "Parody mashup" concept probably defends it.) The other videos are probably still screwed because they are clearly based on the entire FiM concept. The only hopes of getting them back that he might have is if Hasbro would somehow let him license them, but I doubt he'd pay for a license no matter how cheap they'd make it because they'd undoubtedly have to review and censor parts of the Button Mash Adventures and other videos and what artist would want that?

So, how about the new album?

link

I kinda wanna buy it, but I don't want to but -sh-it from Apple. I wish they'd make a physical CD version of both soundtracks, but I'll probably just wait until they release it on Amazon since I have a decent Amazon mp3 library. Although you know what the best part about the album is???
EXTENDED VERSIONS OF MAKE A WISH, FIND A WAY, AND THAT MLP THEME THAT HAD REALLY CHEESY PUNS!!!
lol. Okay, I probably went a little overboard there, but I was curious if Daniel had an extended version of MaW and…and…YAY!

Edit: Page get. Pinkie declares we make a wish and throw a party!
