You know, I'm just wondering. Has this #DownWithMolestia thing been developing for months or did this literally just spawn overnight? Cause seriously, I haven't heard one lick of this DWM movement since yesterday when I went on the Image gallery and found a shitload of pictures talking about Taking Down Molestia. If it literally spawned overnight do you guys think this might just be an elaborate hoax? Cause I've heard a few people say they didn't care for Molestia but I haven't heard about this so called movement wanting to take down Molestia over rape jokes. Never typed Molestia so many times in one post in my entire life…..Holy shit….it must be a conspiracy started by JJ so people will talk about Molestia more!

Or I'm just shitfaced…..what? Someone has to finish this here Vodka and I don't see no Berrypunch ponies in my house…..maybe if I get drunk enough…..There will be? Molestia.

@Objects to Left Save you from Molestia.

I have an Entire corner full of fake/improvised weapons to my left, lets go over them shall we?

…Lets see… I have a couple of foam larp swords that might hurt a lot but give no real lasting damage.

…A plastic scythe that will do jack all…

A Huge ass Wooded buster Sword that would at best do no worse than swinging a plank of wood… Which knowing the difference in our strengths she'd shrug off before I got a second swing…

…and a hollow Metal Pole with a plastic Spiral on the end. Which would require a lot or practice before I could use it as a decent weapon.

So I guess I either have to become a Monk… or a Wizard.

…Wizard it is!

Yes, that last one might legitimately work if she wasn't a princess. Therefore you'd have to call for backup from your friends instead.

Looks like I only made one drunk post. That’s it? I even used coherent grammar. That’s not too bad.

Wait, you go on drinking binges and then post? Blue Screen Confirmed as the KYM version of Applelight Limited. Now hot a taco already. (God, why am I referencing this? Nobody's going to get it.)

Molestia's just been her good ol' self. I think the Tumblr SJW spun their "Wheel of Butthurt" and it landed on Molestia. Next week it'll be how female zombies are portrayed on The Walkiing Dead compared to their male brethren.

In related news, I'm surprised there isn't a "Petition Asking Tumblr To Ban the Ask Molestia Blog For Promoting Rape and the Rape Culture" on change.org yet. Those tumblrists sure do love their useless petitions. (Fun fact: the only change.org petition I ever signed was one asking for an Ed Edd & Eddy movie, and look what happened.)

Not usually. I try to refrain from posting when I'm drunk. But that one post slipped out. I was a little butthurt when I made that post because a friend looked over my shoulder while I was on this thread and saw diapered Pinkie on the last page. I had to explain that. This was not long after we talked about disgusting fetishes on the internet. Being drunk, I was compelled to rant.

I guess that answers my earlier question. Figured as much.

A lot of people have been pointing fingers to the user supposedly responsible for starting the DWM movement named PinkiePony just doing it to sell shirts and other merch. Considering how overnight this whole drama is and how this seems to be going away just as fast, I'd believe it.

@Kewl
Yeah, it really did pop up pretty much overnight.
I do recall occasionally hearing someone complain about Molestia and some may recall that AskPricessMolestia was actually taken down a few months back when people spammed Tumblr's reporting system (though it was obviously restored since it broke no rules), but this new thing came out of nowhere and the ringleader immediately tried to spin it into t-shirt sales!
That is pretty messed up and an obvious ploy!
I propose a new movement dedicated to eradicating the use of branded clothing to support manufactured 'crusades' for the protection of all internet users!
I've already got a logo and everything!

I- hmmm…
This… may need more thought…

Hey, look!

Trading card game stuff!
Three things:
1. A little glimpse of actual cards.
2. An official name for the math pony.
3. And by the luck of random chance, Scootaloo and Bill Neigh in the same picture. Being a math major myself, I consider that a win!

Great idea, my uncle works in advertising. I'll draw up blueprints for the Billboards right away! Also, Lol at the Petition's comments.

Huh, so Bill Neigh™ has actually been Trademarked? Huh, the more you know.

You see, I knew no one would get it. There's a user on the TV Tropes Pony Forum named Applelight Limited who has on occasion gone drinking with his buddies and posted while drunk out of his mind (including the typical "you guys are my best friends" posts). As he got drunker, his posts made less and less sense, until, when responding to a user asking that he not drink and drive, his response was: "I'm gonna have to hot a taco." The other users were able to decipher that "hot a taco" is apparently drunk for "call a cab".

Damn it's been a while since I lurked on that forum.

There's sad and then there's that. Part of me wants to feel pity, but than I remember part of thier argument was: "What if a child finds Molestia? That child is going to think rape is okay and go into a rapist [sic]." and that pity is replaced by sheer unadulterated rage.

CrashGordon94 said:

Making the faces seem slightly less artificial only ratchets up the Uncanny horror. It's no longer in the Uncanny Valley, it's in the Uncanny River Basin.

What's funny about that petition is that – if successful – it won't even shield most of the adult pony content on the internet from children's eyes; It looks a lot more like Pinkiepony (just to clarify, the person who started DWM) just wants to get even with John Joseco. according to this post on her blog, Pinkiepony was babysitting for a kid who identified Celestia as a rapist, apparently because of molestia.

However, google "pinkie pie" for example and you immediately find gore and porn results. Dontcha think seeing a bloody pinkie pie with half her skin missing could make children think differently about her too?

Click on safe search, click on filter explicit results and nothing changes.

I'm not saying Pinkiepony is evil or something or needs to be spammed with quotes from some doped up comedian about how uncool they would think she is for being offended. I just think she's ignoring the bigger picture and dragging a lot of people into an awful mess for something that nobody can have real control over.

Last edited Aug 19, 2013 at 11:13AM EDT

In retrospect I'd think people would rather go and try and take down the person who continues to make lovable ol' Pinkie Pie into a serial killer who turns everyone into cupcakes (Am I seriously the ONLY one here who really gets annoyed now that almost every other bit of fanwork depicts Pinkie Pie as some psycho killer? Welp, guess it's just me) than someone making Celestia a 'rapist'. Problem is (like I said) EVERYONE out there makes Pinkamena constantly, it's harder to take that down compared to basically one of the only people who do Molestia (at least do it to the point where it's the only mainstream version).

I hate people these days.

The problem though was this "campaign" turned into an organized mess once the weekend occurred. PinkiePony could barely keep the focus on one thing. What started a mudslinging venture against Ask Princess Molestia quickly changed to this being about "rape culture" and how this should not be associated with a children's cartoon show to insults to those who disagreed with this perceived view of the world. The idea of creating T-shirts and material was probably the point the most sane individuals started to view this campaign as a lost cause. Honestly, could you imagine the regular public seeing these shirts are raising eyebrows? The fandom has done a darn good job with keeping a positive view to those on the outside looking in and this would have been far more damaging than say .mov cosplayers. It should be noted her mom actually pulled her from doing the T-shirts which led to the stores downfall.

It also showed how stupid the #hashtag campaign truly is. It's great to raise awareness but marking post with #(insert fuel here) does not solve the problem. Had PP followed the steps of pixelkitties who posted four prominent abuse awareness sites rather than doing the "buy my stuff and proceeds go to charity", she might have made an impact. Granted revealing that she would only receive 5% of the funds from the merchandise bit her on the backside, it felt like a scam when you could donate directly (which she finally requested others to do late Sunday). APM and the Daily Derp even made fun of the protest style by showing how asinine it can be; JJ with the direct approach of cake is bad so ban cake, and TDD changing it's protest sign each frame and requesting to by my shirts and buttons. What didn't help was the response to those who were hellbent on this campaign, making the claims that JJ doesn't understand (though if people followed the tumblr, the series is much tamer than when it first started), that he should be castrated and that he was insulting fat people (again, PM in story has been battling weight issues based around her prominently protruding princess posterior).

Then there are those who want the fandom purged of anything that is not wholesome and innocent. Simply put, these members want the fandom to return to the "old days" when there wasn't such grotesque and unsavory material. They believed that by stopping APM that it would cause a ripple effect that would make the rest of the fandom turn their heads and force others to follow suit. Luckily this mentality seems to be left on one site and hopefully they will remain in their ivory tower.

At this point most of the fandom gets the most basic concept: rape is bad. But we knew this BEFORE this all started. We also know that My Little Pony is fiction. When stuff happens in real life, we know it sucks and we do want to do something. Most of us can separate fantasy from reality. Princess Celestia and all her forms: fantasy who has no bearing on how the real world works (minus Hasbro in hopes of "it prints money"). The small town Ohio rape case from a while back: reality and how you take on a culture that allows sexual abuse to go unanswered.

Now can we move on to the next set of drama. I'm ready for complaints about the season 4 intro.

@ Object on My Left
A safe that is slightly taller than me, filled with all my valuables and a personal defence weapon, sits on the left side of my bed. But who says I want to save myself from getting rather intimate with Molestia?

xTSGx stared into the mirror, her mane ruffled and her eyes tired. Not something Blue would enjoy seeing… she thought to herself. She also emanated a faint smell of sweat and salt, undoubtedly from last night as well. She reached with her wing into the shower, feeling the warm water softly hitting her wing. She deemed it ready, and entered.
She was extremely satisfied with the night before, the hot moments flooding exciting thoughts into her head. She sighed in pleasure as she remembered, and as the water ran down her face, she became wide awake. She waited for a bit as she let the water soak her coat. She decided then, after her coat was damp with warm water, to scrub herself and clean the smell and grease off her.
She heard a sudden bang on the floor, and she seemed startled at first. She noticed the bottle of shampoo had fallen from it’s resting place, and she wondered what knocked it over. The only thing she saw was her stiff wing, extended and throbbing a bit. She realized her wingboner knocked it over, and she blushed and giggled to herself sheepishly as she realized this. She picked the bottle up with her wing, and began to apply it all over her body. She began feeling the cold, thick shampoo sliding slowly all over her, and she trembled a bit as it did, giggling as well.
After doing so, she set the bottle back, and used her wings yet again to scrub and lather the shampoo all over her coat, slowly and thoroughly. She made sure that she scrubbed every inch and corner of her body and scrubbed it well, and as she was satisfied that she was thoroughly clean enough, she walked back into the stream of water coming out, slowly rinsing her off, humming as she did.
The foam of the soap slowly dissipated as she stood under the stream, indulging once again in the welcoming heat of the water. She helped the shower rinse off the soap by rubbing it off her body with her wings, stroking much of her body to remove the remaining suds. After seeing her entire body was clean, she slowly turned off the faucet, and the water ceased to run. She reached for a towel, and began to slowly dry herself off.

Blue heard the water in the shower had stopped, and he jumped back onto the bed, awaiting her. A few moments later, xTSGx stepped out of the shower, using her wings to dry herself with a towel. Blue couldn’t help at admiring her beauty, and she slowly placed on her costume.
"I'm ready now… care to hear what I had in mind, Blue?" xTSGx asked bashfully.
"Of course…" Blue said, a bit nervously.
“Well… I don’t know if you noticed it, but Platus… has a thing for smoking,” she stated. Blue nodded in conception. “Well, he was constantly complaining about running out before he left… and I believe he did. What I would suggest is checking the only smoke shop in Canterlot… perhaps he would be there,” she suggested, swinging her foreleg back and forth.
“Do you know where this shop is?” Blue asked.
“Of course! I bust robbers there all the time!” she exclaimed excitedly. “But there’s a problem… if he isn’t there, we’ll have to check for any signs of where he could be… either sales or footage. And they won’t let anypony have access to those easily…
“What are you suggesting?” Blue asked, more than a little suspicious of what she was planning.
“I’m suggesting… you ‘_rob_’ the store, checking for any signs in the back of Platus, and before the Royal Guard arrives, I’ll show up and ‘
capture
’ you. We use whatever we found to track him down, and then you do whatever it is you planned on doing. How does that sound?” she asked expectedly.
Sounds like the stupidest idea of all time, hooves down. First of all, I’ve never robbed a store… much less faked a robbery. I don’t really know how other ponies do stickup robberies, either… do you need experience for that? And what if the Royal Guard comes before she does? Off to jail for me! He was about to completely deny the idea, but he saw xTSGx removing her mask, grabbing something from her pockets, and eating them. “Um… what’s that?” Blue asked.
“Hmm? Oh… you mean these?” she asked, holding out her hoof to show Blue, revealing a few green tablets. "Medication… need to take one each day. But forget about that… what do you think about the plan?" she persisted.
Blue was now reminded of xTSGx's disorder, and he sighed in regret. "When do we go off to Canterlot?" he stated with fake confidence.

>what is Safesearch

I think the thing that pisses me off most about the SJW crowd is how incredibly lazy they are. They don't want to do anything themselves and instead want the government to do [insert cause here] or, in this case, they're too lazy to look after their children and so want the internet to censor itself so they don't have to monitor where their children go online. It's poor parenting like this that's why the high school graduation rate is at 75%.

I can already hear /mlp/'s jimmies rustle softly in the wind. For an added bonus, I hope they use a dubstep or techno remix. That'll really piss people off (including some on this Forum if my memory of the long dead TogetherTube streams serves correctly). Just imagine something like this as the intro:

Speaking of, whatever happened to the TogetherTube streams? Tim the Enchanter said he was taking a break for a few weeks and then dropped off the face of the Earth and no one really picked up the rally flag.

@Down with Molestia

It's times like these that everyone forgets what the first rule of Feminist Critical analysis 101 is. As well as their counter parts for other social issues.

Always remember, it's perfectly okay to like things that contain problematic elements, so long as you acknowledge why said elements are problematic and try not to perpetuate behavior relating to those element in real life.

Basically… The fact its called "Molestia" may be problematic, but that does not mean its wrong to enjoy the rest of it.

… Ironically, this doesn't necessarily apply to the problematic element itself… So if anything, the Hash tag campaign should be about having them change the name of the blog.

… Not that that's any less stupid, but at least it doesn't devolve into breaking sane tenants of one's own philosophy.

>2013
>Asssuming these morons HAVE any critical analysis skills (or would remember and apply pretty much anything they learned about it that doesn't immediately appeal to them)

Seriously though, that's an excellent point, and it really doesn't end there. Pretty much everything they've done regarding this reeks of a lack of critical thinking, or just flat-out stupidity. I mean, just to give a couple examples, they pull the "rape is male on female" shit when the alleged rapist IS A FEMALE CHARACTER and Pinkiepony doesn't know about Gamer Luna (which is like protesting Batman and not knowing who Robin is).

And it's absolutely hilarious that the merch scam was shut down by her mom, I'd say that your VALIANT LEADER getting her shit shut down by mommy is a pretty big red flag! XD

On another note, I too am wondering about the Season 4 intro/advertisting/trailer/whatever. Shitstorm forcast?

To be honest, it's unlikely to cause much, if any shitstorm. Far as we can tell so far, Twilight is at least able to see the original Nightmare Moon incident ( it's not clear if it's some form of timetravel, or something else) and we have either superheroes based off the Mane 6 or the Mane 6 as superheroes. We have the Apple family apparently welcoming Pinkie into their home, so that might cause a shitstorm depending on context. ( specifically, assuming Pinkie is actually living with the Apples, what happened to Sugarcube Corner?) There is an episode with a visit to Ponyville by Pinkie's family, Rariyt is getting an episode, and Derpy will, apparently, be appearing in S4.

what IS likely to cause a shitstorm unless Hasbro is very careful is that Scootaloo is apparently disabled. ( Personally, I an praying that this is an episode about overcoming disability- Say, Scootaloo actually managing to fly despite a disability that can prevent pegasi from flying. It'd be a neat two-sided aesop for the show ( one being not to write off disabled people, and the other to disabled people not to give up))

in short, so far what we know of S4 looks pretty good.

Last edited Aug 19, 2013 at 06:43PM EDT

Okay, that's good then!

Slightly wondering whether the apparent stuff with Derpy would be background antics or if she's actually getting a part again, though I'm guessing we don't yet know.

@Scootaloo disability
I was actually sorta hoping for it to be a permanent disability. Something I've always disliked about disability episodes is when they find some way to 'fix' the disability before the episode is over. And I don't mean finding some way around it with some sort of invention or something. I mean when they literally fix the person. Whenever they do that, I feel like the episode loses a lot of impact and sorta poisons the moral for the sake of a happy ending. So, yeah, I would rather the episode end with Scootaloo accepting that she can't fly but realising that it doesn't make her lesser or useless. Then again, it might not be a disability episode at all, but rather one about never giving up no matter how many times you fail. If that's the direction they go then I would be happy to let her be flying by the end.

@Derpy
I doubt they'll give Derpy a full part, but it's not impossible for her to make a few foreground appearances or short gags like in Hurricane Fluttershy.

I'm still holding out for a shot of Derpy delivering mail.

Last edited Aug 19, 2013 at 07:47PM EDT
problem if Scootaloo is permanently disabled: Scootaloo has been shown in Canon to be able to hover, so any disability that leaves Scootaloo grounded is realistically going to be due to injury. Is MLP really the type of show that would have a permanent injury to a young girl? I don't think so…

I have this theory that characters that are sweet and happy about everything are actually some sort of psychos.

@sstabeler: Of course it won't! Probably some day they will make an episode with "Jeez Scoots, you are actually flying!" because, regardless of being a kids show, it would TOO much to just utterly destroy one of the biggest dreams of a character like Scootaloo.
She is adorable, everyone loves her

"She is adorable, everyone loves her" No, that's just Deadparrot and I. We just spread so much positive buzz of the Best CMC it just seems like everyone loves her.

Also doesn't help knowing I have thousands of Sock accounts all over the internet constantly saying Scoots is best pony.

@sstabeler and Bruno

@stabeler
She doesn't necessarily need to get injured. Yes, she can hover, but that doesn't mean she's guaranteed to have the ability to fly. Hovering might just be as far as she can get. The animatic seems to have already set up that she has trouble flying, so if it is going to be a disability episode then they don't really need a major injury. Plus, like Plush Master Parrot always says: if she learnt to fly, her scootering talent would become sort of obsolete, wouldn't it?

@Bruno
While an injury would be a bit extreme, I wouldn't say it would be too much to ground Scootaloo. Handled with care, I think they could pull it off.

By the way, has Scootaloo ever actually expressed any interest in flying before? I know she idolizes Rainbow Dash, but has she ever actually mentioned that she wants to fly one day? Not being a jerk, I really don't remember if she did.

Last edited Aug 19, 2013 at 10:16PM EDT

I guess I can't not get into this now, can I?

<div class=spoiler title="Season 4 Stuff">

So… you guys want to talk Scootaloo, eh?

Yeah, I think I'm down for that…

(For my full dissertation on the subject, please refer to Tiny Wings)

I have thrown my views and hopes for Scootaloo's arc out before, but it's been a while and you guys are mostly new, so here goes again, I guess.

Well, actually…
Stunt kinda hit my major points already.

'Curing' a disability for a character, while potentially creating a 'happy' ending for an episode, kind of defeats the purpose of showing kids with disabilities that they can succeed despite their hardships.
No one in the real world is going to come along and say 'So you can't walk, Timmy? Guess what? Now you can!'
Cue Slow Motion Crying Scene
No, kids in wheelchairs (etc.) are, sadly, pretty much stuck there in most cases and I'd much rather they be shown that 'disability' does not equate to 'no ability.'
They may not be able to do everything they want to do, but they can still dream and achieve tremendous things if they really apply themselves.
Learning to deal with bad things that you can't change can be a pretty heavy dose of reality, but if done correctly, it can be really powerful stuff and would give a massive chunk of development to one of the show's most neglected characters (outside of the princesses).

Oh, and injury is definitely not a required element for grounding Scoots.
That, I do agree, would be a bit over the top for what a show like this would do.
(Though I honestly never thought they'd even touch the subject of a disabled kid, so take my 'It's never going to happen!' with a grain of salt.)

Waiting for it is going to be the end of me!

I'm honestly just excited to see exactly which direction they are going to take this.
My preferred version would be… well, the one I wrote about: Scoot is permanently incapable of sustained flight, but she eventually accepts this and learns to grow and pursue her true talent for scootering and such.
Now technically, the little clip they showed of the episode is still somewhat vague.
They could easily still spin this into 'Scoot just never had a teacher, Rainbow Dash steps up, Scoot flies by the end' which would be cute and endearing for sure, just not quite as interesting as the alternative.
Or they could just go totally nuts:

@Stunt
Well… I don't think she's ever explicitly said that her greatest dream is flying.
In Sleepless in Ponyville, she did repeatedly talk about her dream of Dash becoming her big sister and 'teaching her everything she knows' though.
That's pretty heavily implying that her greatest dream is to be taught to fly by her idol since, with no offense to Dash, outside of flight skills… she ain't really got a lot to teach.
Flight is kind of all that Dash really knows so I'm pretty sure that's what Scoot is referring to.

@Derpy
Having Derpy talk to Scoots would indeed be kind of cute, but it's not going to happen.
For one, Depy has next-to-no characterization in canon so having her suddenly provide some pivotal advice to a primary character would not really make much sense for anyone not following her internet portrayal and would undoubtedly smack too much of fanservice.

Second, Hasbro has basically said outright that Derpy won't be speaking again, at least not for quite some time.
Someone asked that question at a panel with Hasbro execs (New York ComicCon I want to say) and they said something along the lines of 'She loved having a speaking part, but all the attention scared her.'
Obviously, we've seen that she's still hanging around in backgrounds, but I highly doubt we'll get anything like Last Roundup again for quite some time.

@Superhero Episode
Pleasepleasepleaseplease…

@Kewl
This guy knows what's up!

@Pinkie vs. Molestia
I've said it before and I'll say it again, for whatever reason, I still think our society is totally ass-backward on the whole sex/violence debate.
Why is brutal murder and destruction prime-time family fare but any hint of a nipple instantly unacceptable?
To the point of pony art, I have always found the violent stuff far more unsettling than the sexy.
(Well, until you combine the two… Then just… ugh…)
At least with sex you can say that the characters are at least enjoying themselves, but with horror, murder, and grotesque mutilation?
Nuh-uh.
It's never made sense to me why people can love 'crazy Pinkamena coming to kill errerybody' but then complain about 'sexualization.'
Neither one is kid-friendly obviously, but I do think we focus way too much on the less disturbing of the two.

Oh, and another thing: At least the sexual stuff requires some initial knowledge for a kid to understand.
This whole Molestia thing was apparently started when some kid found content on the internet (Great parental supervision there, guys…) and began associating Celestia with rape.
But little kids don't just know what rape is, do they?
Not that depictions of it wouldn't affect them, but suggestive and even explicit sexual content seems like it would be a lot less immediately recognizable to children than violence.
A five-year-old may not get why those two ponies are 'wrestling' but they sure as hell know what's going on when red stuff is spurting out everywhere.
So again, why is sex worse than violence?

Pretty much everything they’ve done regarding this reeks of a lack of critical thinking, or just flat-out stupidity.

Pick one.

To be honest, [season four's intro is] unlikely to cause much, if any shitstorm.

Somebody doesn't go on /mlp/ very often, I see. It's going to have Twilicorn in it. It will rustle their jimmies.

@Scootaloo's plot
I'm still really hoping she doesn't end up disabled. Not only would that send in a tsunami of feel fanfics and fanart, and give the Scootabuse folks actual canon to work with, but it would probably strain my SOD. In a world of magic and advanced medicine, they can't fix [insert issue here]? What's worse is that they'll probably not even mention what caused it. It'll just be some generic thing which only strains things further.

@TSG: They could always go down the route of a cure being available, but expensive, and her parents can't afford it. It happens often enough in RL…

Oh, and I don't go on /mlp/ at all. Which, considering I have a low tolerance for shitstorms over minor stuff, is probably a good thing.

@DP

why is sex worse than violence?

I think we've had discussions before on this. I don't recall the conclusions of those past discussions but it was somewhere along the lines of "Sex is taboo, simply put." and "Nobody knows why"

It's an odd topic because this fandom really seems to highlight the fact that gore (a concept of physical bodily harm and pain) upsets people a lot less than sex (a concept of…well…the opposite)

Gore seems more pronounced in a world of cuteness, friendship and ponies but it still gets far less controversy. The most popular gore fictions get an adverse reaction at worst but usually it stops there. No protests, petitions or massive debates or anything. Instead, those gets shelved along with all the other gory horror stories or images of the world and people don't try to explain it any further

But how many times have we had to debate R34? Oh boy, plenty.

When you look at sex from a neo-perspective, it doesn't make any logical sense why it's so much comparatively worse to view or why it warrants any greater concern than violence. If someone sees a sex scenes, I guess that means that person likes watching sex. But its a stretch to assume that same person will be justified by said scenes to commit harmful acts. We know this because we're already exposed to so much violence in media, but said media definitely does not justify everyone to go out and commit violence.

So in order to explain why we have this taboo on sex, we have to look well into the distant past.

The sex taboo took centuries of human cultural evolution to form. And perhaps in the past there were good reasons. I don't really know what exact factors were involved but I'm guessing that when contraceptives didn't exist, sex was much more of a big deal and rules had to be laid down. If being promiscuous meant ruining a lot of people's days unless controlled or suppressed then it becomes a bit easier to understand how the taboo began

The rest is history. Sex has been potentially complicated for the better part of human history and only in recent times has it begun to come with minimal consequence. Taboo's have a tendency to stick around. And after staying in effect for so long, the sex taboo is going to hang around long after the modern era decides we don't need to be so scared of it anymore.

Now while all this was happening, why didn't gore and violence end up with a similar taboo? It was just as harmful if not more, right?

My theory is that violence was too common to cover up. Sex could be controlled in both physical and media, but violence could not. Human history is filled with blood. Battle's back then were far bloodier than modern ones and they happened way more frequently. Even if you weren't drafted into the military by your overlording king, I'm sure you still had to be exposed to a mutilated animal that's been hacked up into bloody pieces and that's just how dinner was served. Rather than try and limit how much gore your children could see, it was better to just teach them to deal with it and so no taboo could have formed. Sure sex was just as much a part of everyday life, but you could at least tell people to go screw somewhere private.

Going back to the modern era, what does this mean for MLP fan produce? I'd say that after all that time, society has developed a mindset that gore and violence, no matter how nasty, is part of life. Growing up is accepting the fact that it exists in all it's forms. Even if said violence features adorable colored horsies, it's more likely to get passed off as more of the same.

Sex isn't so lucky. That taboo is still there. It's purpose hasn't been challenged enough over the last century. So it still strongly dictates that sexual expression must be suppressed in all forms. Including where said adorable colored horsies are involved. Sex applied to anything innocent will get even more of a backlash

Now of course I could be wrong here. This is all just me speculating.

What I do know for sure is that taboo's are very, very powerful and can make some things carry heavy implications, even if their actual impact on humanity is less serious than others

TL;DR: Sex is more taboo because it just is

@Crash

When thinking of posting on /mlp/ always remember: It may be a pony board, but it's still 4chan.

@TSG

Are people still upset about Twilicorn?

@BSoD on /mlp/ and parts of the image gallery here they are (with some posters here still saying "Oh, when's the real Season 3 coming out?")

@sstabeler Umm dude, the mere fact that they'll end up changing the animation (again) big time to the intro will rustle jimmies, now ADDING Alicorn Twilight will cause a rustle tsunami that will last like maybe an hour or two?
