Garde: I really like your idea dude. Give it a catchy title and I could see it being a niche hit on Steam. You should hold on to that idea, it might be useful in the future.

I'm an artist, so if this is something you are serious about, shoot me a PM! I'd love to make some art for it.

@ADCoRB Well so far the working title is "Civil War II: the game nobody wanted"

Current plot idea is story mode, where your character deals with the outbreak and comes across plot an information that the outbreak can be contained, vaccinated and possibly "cured" in is early stages. (remember anti-body guy?) However they have to get that information to the already broken military and government before they decide on going nuclear to wipe out infected populations. (Because 50's doesn't know any better.)

Multiplayer missions take place after story mode where you have to go get supplies (from abandoned factories or places of work where the routes have been cut off) or clear areas to help restore society from the aftermath.

I love how she has the audacity to pretend Gamergate was involved when the majority of the movement didn't care in the slightest. Even on this very thread people didn't really care. If you check the KIA thread you'll even see people wishing her well and for her to get new job soon.

In all honesty though, what the hell was she thinking pushing in favour of pedophilia while being a PR representative for a kid-friendly family friendly company? Are you sure it was GG harassing you and getting you fired or was it the simple fact that as a PR representative you weren't being a PR representative as much as a PR disaster?

LMAO called it. I knew that if she were to be fired, it would be due to her being bad PR no matter what Nintendo's views on CP were.

On one hand I don't think one should usually get fired over their opinions, generally speaking (and I didn't read her thesis, so I can't comment on whether her views were reasonable or not), but it's hard to have sympathy for someone like her who appears to be acting so immature. I guess sometimes, you probably shouldn't have certain political views and flaunt them about, and right now that's views on pedophilia and CP.

GethN7 has an article on the Rapp Situation.

Mister Roast.

I am well aware my work would be rather controversial (Well, most of those I have exposed the idea to, including my sister consider if well done it would be more or less niche) and I from the inception never had intentions to include nudity or even imply sex between the main characters (I preferred to leave that to the rule 34 part of the audience), but the more I hear about censorship the more I think I should increase the lewd content.

The whole game is intended to have political commentary on things such as war, social justice, censorship, and physical age vs mental age. It is a game intended to open debate and mock SJWs (One of the antagonists is based on Sarkeesian, does not fight, and is guarded by literal white knights). It is basically a trigger fest. But I never wanted to make it super lewd, specially with the main characters. I wanted to focus on elements of action, adventure, and RPG and make it sort of a Western/Japanese RPG hybrid gameplay wise.

Nudity was never in the plan until literally the Overwatch mess. The more censorship there is the more compelled I feel to make it more suggestive. If censorship does not stop soon I will end up making it too lewd even for me… Well, maybe I could set things for a spinoff mixing elements of Bernd and the Mystery of Unteralterbach and HuniePop.

Regarding future employment, my plan is long term, and once the game is released I intend to dedicate my life to gaming as a whole by opening my own company. My sister is in fact sort of my boss at that. She said she will support my project and even finance the whole ordeal, but I must make sure the story is good so people will "overlook the furry loli werewolf panties".

Well, the only way to find out how it will result is getting things done. Of course, my sister is sort of my adviser and she is the little voice that says "We can't put that" so she will be the one who will dictate how it results. Who knows what will come.

To Garde: Your idea sounds great. Mocking the faults of both social justice and cliche shooters at the same time sounds like something worthy a try. In fact parody seems to be the genre of the future.

Sorry if it's been posted, but this is Nintendo's official statement regarding Rapp's termination from the company

“Alison Rapp was terminated due to violation of an internal company policy involving holding a second job in conflict with Nintendo’s corporate culture. Though Ms. Rapp’s termination follows her being the subject of criticism from certain groups via social media several weeks ago, the two are absolutely not related. Nintendo is a company committed to fostering inclusion and diversity in both our company and the broader video game industry and we firmly reject the harassment of individuals based on gender, race or personal beliefs. We wish Ms. Rapp well in her future endeavors.”

TL;DR. We fired her because she is into something shady and we no longer like her, she is not trustworthy and we want to make sure the PC crowd is appeased by saying the irelevant inclussion bit.

I wish to confess something. I have not seen much of "Overwatch" before this stink with Blizzard.
Only just tonight have I watched a video of the beta game-play.

It is ballistic, and looks stinking awesome. I have never been one to play any of Blizzard's games; never really cared for the MMORPG type games. However, I love "Team Fortress 2" and "Overwatch" looks like it's as crazy fun as that.

Despite the bull "Blizzard" decided to pull, I would honestly consider purchasing their game. I will not pre-order it, but if a good sale comes around sometime, I just might spring for it.

Hopefully, by the time that comes around, they will have gotten their head on straight.

Also, someone in the comments of the "Overwatch" page suggested that it was done on purpose to stir up the controversy and get the attention flowing.
That just might be possible. This could be a Protein World thing all over again.

It turns out Alison Rapp's firing has nothing to do with GamerGate or harassment.

Meanwhile at NeoGAF they are blaming GamerGate for her firing.

Not only that, but if you check Rapp's Twitter she actually has nothing but good things to say about her former employer, and urges people to keep supporting Nintendo. So the real irony here is the stereotypical SJW types calling for a boycott are going against Rapp's own wishes.

I think the whole thing is horrible. I mean, in one side we have pro GG users who actively tried to get her fired for wrongthink, which is not right even if she is a total jerk, and she is. Then we have AGG users calling to boycott Nintendo over her firing. We have her playing victim sometimes and at the same time showing no animosity toward Nintendo, which actually makes her a better person in my eyes. And then we have Nintendo, who decided to cut her more because she was running personal business which breached her contract (And also because she made a terrible job as PR) than because of GG.

And all for what? Censorship did not end, feminazis and SJWs did not fall, there was no victory at all, everyone lost! And especially GG lost because now some of us lowered to the levels of AGG actively seeking to get people fired over opinions, opinions that have no real worth and are composed of hot air.

So guys what is your opinion on the overwatch controversy?

Blizzard is mentally retarded to throw their customers under a bus to pander to some offended father who is worried his too young to play the game daughter with grow up bad if she sees a female vidya character outside a burka.

That's my opinion.

@AlarkozTheAncient

No, GamerGate won easily on this.

She ended up getting fired for being shit at her job (publicly endorse child porn & camwhore with your employers products while being employed by a company that spent decades building a reputation as the Disney of vidya? You're getting fired.)
Her attempts at playing the victim failed when Nintendo made a public statement (that almost never happens, but I'm half convinced that GamerGate is a giant probability warper with how often million-to-one chances keep happening).
The GameJournoPros 2.0 trying for a "gamers are dead 2.0" ended up with egg on their face when their narrative blew up.
Now Rapp is desperately trying to backpedal while her "allies" try to use this as ammo against GamerGate & the Wayne Foundation (i.e. the anti-sex trafficking charity that actually did something to get her fired) and fail miserably at it (the hit pieces have comment sections full of deleted posts).

And she got fired for being shit at her job, don't listen to anyone trying to pull that "GamerGate is the same!" BS. When someone's job is PR and they cause massive headaches for the executives they're going to get fired in any sane company (Gawker decided sanity was for losers & look at how that worked out for them). And that's not getting into the parts where she's rude to customers. And of course GamerGate neither tried nor achived getting her fired.

Between Moonlighting is actually accepted at Nintendo & To pay off student loans (weeee), I started moonlighting under a fake name, and with no real identifiers she's contradicting herself all over the place (Why did she use a fake name if moonlighting is OK? Why does Nintendo say moonlighting isn't allowed? If her moonlight job involves showing her face, her Nintendo job involves showing her face, and she's linking her moonlight job on the same Twitter account as her Nintendo job how did she think she was going to hide it? If she was fired for moonlighting why does she blame "GamerGate harassment"?)

Anyway I am loving her arrogance breaking like this, from "don't question me you peasant" to "Nintendo folded to a harassment campaign" to "I know I'm contradicting myself but it's all GamerGate's fault!".

She's not getting a job outside of SJW companies again, and those don't live long.

@Hrom

GamerGate is now officially the Boogeyman.

How anti-gamergate saw gamergate yesterday when it was complaining about censorship:

How anti-gamergate see gamergate today because someone it disagrees with was fired for reasons unrelated to gamergate:

Say guys do you think that Jim Sterling is going to make an episode about what happen to Alison Rapp?

He's already given his thoughts
http://archive.is/phk1d
Like everything else political he has said, it's bullshit

Here in France people are really uninformed about these issue ( partly because the one French journalist who's covering gamergate is not much of a journalist and likes to play the victim ), they're all saying that innocent woman was fired from her job because of the harassment, and say the cheese pizza allegations are a machination by Gamergate. In their mind, it was all gamergate, who just wants to drive women out of gaming. How out of your mind do you have to be to think that ? I'd understand " drive feminists out of gaming " but just women ? That's really poorly thought-out.
It's a bit sad to see everybody parroting what kotaku/polygon are saying, without thinking one second about what they're implying, ie that there's a mob of people that focuses on 3 woman max (if you're into the GG= misogynists narrative ) at all times and they intend to drive out every woman, at that stupid rate.
Sorry for the rant, the situation here is so very much idiotic.

HelmslockTheCarnageSeeker wrote:

Glad the changes don't affect gameplay. I feel it's crappy qnd pointless change since the back-towards-camera pose is stock for a lot of characters, male and female. If there were unique victory animations for each character, maybe, but this seems like whining over nothing. Blizzard deciding to act on said nothing is their business, it's not my place to keep them from making dumb choices, but it is my place to mock them for it.

I'm gonna agree with Bookie here, Allison Rapp's moonlight job was… provocative, judging by that link from the archive as to what she was doing. She's not exactly a person you want representing a family oriented company. So I guess Nintendo probably allowed second business (like craft making) but not something that would tarnish their image.

As for why Nintendo said the real reason she was fired? A game of telephone

As for the guy who rushed the article stating that she got fired from gamergate? Patrick Klepek. The same guy that posted the unwanted interview response out of context from the CEO of the Wayne Foundation. Ethics.

What do you mean by " A game of telephone " ? Is that an expression ? I can't make sense of it with the link.

The telephone game is where you pass a message to a person and they pass to another person one by one until all have heard the message. The game is infamous for the fact that message ends up FUBAR often before its even reached the last person.

In this case the message was "I was fired" and it became "nintendo fired a developer over political beliefs and gamergate harassment" thanks to clearly "superior" journalism.

Ikr? It's like they don't care at all about ethics and actually reporting the unvarnished truth. And I bet those same bloggers have the gall to say we don't care about it and are instead harassing people or fighting SJWs, or some other bullshit like that.

Oh okay, I thought it was something of that sort.
In French it's " téléphone arabe ", I'm sure you can translate it off the top of your head :)

So, the firing of Alison Rapp is now trending on Facebook. The Mary Sue appears to be focused on the harassment angle, and there are some geniuses who think we're all to blame for it (yay). Some people are criticizing her, while others don't appear to be so histrionic and outrageous about it.

You see, the thing is I have an issue with people getting fired and with witch hunts over opinions, regardless of how right or wrong they are. I am after all a supporter of free speech.

Now, regarding her crappy job as PR and her breach of contract, well, The first is a good reason for a big bitchslap and a jank on the leash, and the contract breach is a fair reason for getting the boot.

I just don't like the idea that anyone in the anti SJW side would support censorship in any form at all, specially when I have been defending all forms of suggestive and explicit fictional content from tentacle porn to downringht cub yiff and beyond for a decade, even before SJWs were relevant.

I don't even have issue with age difference relationships and pubescent individuals having a sex life. I do have a thing against chesse pizza, and that is my difference with Rapp, but I don't think starting a witch hunt toward someone for saying something retarded is OK. I mean, that is not what we do, that is what they do. "Did you say you don't like otherkin and non binaries? I will make sure you lose your job!" "Did you say you like My Little Pony porn? I will get you fuckign fired!" "Did you say you find Bayonetta sexy? I will get you fired and then impale you anally!" That is what SJWs do.

And in the end the Treehouse bastards who were the real target are still at alrge, unpunished, still being a potential cencorship force. Those among GG who went against Rapp for her personal views and not for berating the audience she was mean to attract went for the low hanging fruit, went for the "It's a pedophile!" ad hominem.

That was the mistake, that was the ugly part about it.

Can people please stop saying her job was PR? She worked in product marketing. Even though what she did was bad PR, she did not truly work in that department.

Also, was it GGRevolt that was so interested in Alison Rapp's past and got her fired?

Side topic revisited
The more I think about that gendered post WW2 zombie shooter "CW2: tGNW" the more I kinda want to make it a viable option. For further real life hilarity, I should make the production "company" be Garde Gaming and make the colors be purple and green on a Keyboard and Mouse for the logo?

Also where would I get started for this kinda thing? (I kinda want the dev crew to be relatively small [maybe just me] so that costs don't run high.[since I wouldn't pay myself, I got an idea for another company idea name: Janitor Works]) I'd be fun to make this be a #Gamergate game, with enough devil's advocate feedback to make sure this thing wouldn't "objectify" women. This also means making sure the population in game has slightly more females than males (because war.) Basically, I want Polygon's 3.7 review to be saltier than the Dead sea and as logical as a connect the dots picture designed by Jackson Pollock.

The other idea to add in the game is that the playable characters did war aid work (ammunition, weapons, rations, tanks, first aid, construction) so using weapons would not be too far out of their ability, as well as knowing where supplies are, how to get those supplies and make supplies/repair and turn on damaged production equipment. The majority NPC population are civilian so hostage rescue (Ugh. I hate those missions. AI is a pain) would probably be a mechanic.

Heck, at this point I could just cut it into two projects and make this be a spiritual successor to Zombies ate my neighbors. (Which would be a nice bonus because I'd be a bit of a fedora tip to Schafer.) I want this thing to be as mean spirited as a tongue in a cheek, (hence only me working on it) only vexing those that believe that this game which is as SJW as can be, is victimizing them because the game designer is a cis male.

Maybe I should use those captured slides from the "harassment in videogaming" conferences to make sure that everything in those guidelines are adhered to when making this.

So far content checklist is:
Strong Women protagonists (check) Communications Operators, Welders, Ration makers…
Non-sexist clothing (check) 50's calf length skirts and work jumpsuits
Bechdel test (check) Talking about where to go to survive, if talking about men probably pity about the effects of the serum.
Transgender options (check) you can wear army fatigues if you want to, you can leave your skirt behind. (Because if the look doesn't match and if it doesn't match then it's not outfit of mine.)
Minority representation (check) planning on having a saints-row 2 level of customization (I'm going to regret this Aren't I?)
Women in power (check) should be an option to drive a tank off a production line to clear a barricade and break into a military bunker or something because of predjudice/clearance hurdle.

If this is too much off topic, I'll try and find a place to put this up for approval and suggestions. Like r/kotakuinaction

This post isn't related to the instance of gamergate
Just to clarify, the core idea was a Tumblr post. I've just expanded on it to try and give it enough of a plot and content so that, while familiar, it isn't terrible.

Also I just realized that if I'm going with the supernatural military serum angle (FEV?) and blur the line between side effects, that means I could make the "zombies" be hollywood level monsters. Swap thing? Ok. Hulk? Ok. Sparkly vampire? Why not. Mummy from the intensive care of a hospitial wing? (that is full body cast) Werewolf/cat/sparkledog for the furry bit? shrug. This would provide variety in combat as well as dealing with the whole "feral" vs "is the monster really MAN?" angle.

still not directly related to the matters of gamergate

Can we all just take a blood oath to not derail this forum thread again with talk of games one might potentially create? Thanks.

It would be a shame if a mod were to come in and lock it.

Fair enough, I'll just squirrel it away in a journal for now. Then approach r/Kia when I feel the draft is ready.

Product marketing is pretty much a PR gig, it involves representing the company directly to customers.

Adding to this.

Looks like someone found all the tweets that probably got Rapp Fired. Even if the Pedophilla angle is excluded there's enough evidence for the content her moonlighting which gives credit to Nintendo's reasoning for letting her go (the second image at the bottom.)

So two loosely related things.

One is that Milo is busy trolling the media with the idea that he's 44 interns.

Two:
I found a Nintendo Easter Egg. Yesterday Nintendo Launched Miitomo, a Mii social game for android and iPhone that gives you coins for answering questions. You make a Mii that represents you and you can use the coins to buy an outfit for your Mii. This information is shared to your friends so they can find out more about you and you about them. However, it turns out you can face pet your Mii in the game just by rubbing your finger over their face. So I don't know if Nintendo intended for that to make it to the final version or if they're having fun on some level, but it's nice to see that someone has an (un)intentional sense of humor.
