Well my sides are in orbit.

The Hugo awards nomination list has been posted, and it contains a few amusing nominees, including:
"SJW's always lie: Taking down the thought police" by Vox Day , "Space Raptor Butt Invasion" by Chuck Tingle (NSFW) and "The Cutie Map parts 1 & 2" from My little pony.

For those not in the know the KIA thread sums up the Hugo awards fiasco as thus:

Three years ago, Larry Correia, author of the Monster Hunter series, asserted that the Hugo Awards had been taken over by a circlejerk of pretentious snobs who were out of touch with the common reader, exhibit 1, the commercial success of his own "blow up monsters and shit" books. In response, several snobs invited him to submit award nominations, which he did, running a very tongue in cheek "vote for this or the puppies will be sad" campaign, hence the original name of Sad Puppies. This earned a handful of nominations and some outrage from said pretentious snobs.
Two years ago, Correia decided to repeat his nominations with Sad Puppies 2: Rainbow Lighthouse Huggening, Think Of The Children Edition. This was about the time some SJW author was demanding an end to the binary gender default in science fiction, which gave him a nice convenient foil compared to which he could play the reasonable side. Once again his nominations earned a bunch of outrage, now with a side of extra outrage for having made fun of the gender activist.
Last year, Correia passed leadership of Sad Puppies 3 to Brad Torgersen, and Vox Day jumped on the bandwagon with the second set of nominations, Rabid Puppies. This is where the Puppies debacle intersected with NotYourShield and encountered Gamergate, SJWs, and the wider culture war at large. The presence of Vox Day made a lot of people go from 'outraged' to 'head asplode', and they decided to try voting No Award in a lot of categories rather than let anything VD nominated get an award. That includes no-awarding people like Jim Butcher, of the Dresden Files, for the offense of being nominated by the wrong person.
This year, Vox Day said "two can play at that game" of threatening to burn it down rather than let wrongthinkers control it, and his Rabid Puppies began nominating hilarious troll shit with a threat that he'd get his supporters to also vote "No Award", thereby ruining the awards. Meanwhile Sad Puppies 4 faded a bit into the background as the culture war heated up.

So yeah, Chuck Tingle of "Turned Gay By The Existential Dread That I May Actually Be A Character In A Chuck Tingle Book" and "Pounded in the butt by my own butt" trilogy is now a Hugo Nominated Author.

OH and the salt is arriving from the guardian over this. Expect more to fallout as time goes on.

If you want to post your half-baked idiotic review on your Word Press blog knock yourself out. But when you write for a real publication, be a professional.

I really gotta give a lot of credit to Stardock. There are extremely few companies that will own up to their mistakes when they know they've made them. I remember getting the email from them saying that they'll be giving free copies of Fallen Enchantress to those that owned War of Magic, this being around the height of the ME3 ending debacle, so it really showed to me the difference between shit PR (Bioware) and good PR (Stardock).

It probably helps that the CEO of Stardock (Brad Wardell) is a programmer and designer himself, instead simply a suit with a degree in business.

On a side note, I hope they don't screw up the Star Control reboot.

I guarantee you that's why Wardell is so grounded and true to his customers. He knows what it's like. He's been there himself.

Meanwhile, pretty much every CEO for other companies is someone who has gone through business college, where they teach you feelings and sentiments are irrelevant and profits are literally the only thing that matters. They groom you to be a cliche.

People like Brad Wardell and Gabe Newell started their own companies from their own programming and game design knowledge, and used their experience to build them from the ground up.

These are the kind of people we need to lead the next generation of game development, not these idiots who whine about abrasive jokes and tight outfits in games. They stifle art, choke it out. People like Wardell help it grow and flourish.

I go to College as well. While mine isn't quite as hyper-liberal as ones in the US (I go to Medicine Hat College, google it), we still have a ton of these kind of people. The ones who spread around shit like 'rape culture' and 'patriarchy' and whatnot. I personally know about 20 people like that in my classes.

The best advice I can offer is to not say anything on the topic unless you are brought into the conversation. My college is small enough that I can get away with going against the grain, but UMass is a big place. You will have instructors who buy into that shit, and a lot of them will hold grudges against students like that, because they are petty. At least if you keep your opinions to yourself, they won't have the chance to use that against you.

Besides, people who flag their opinions around loudly tend to be the dumbest ones around. Just don't be afraid to stand your ground if people ever accuse you of shit because of your opinions. I made a 'triggered' joke, and one chick in my class went all-out railing on me for it, and I flat out told her 'it's a fucking joke. Chill.' She still gives me the stink-eye every time we're in the same room together, lol.

Robertman2: What exactly do you mean by 'turned to the dark side'? He's made some bad decisions recently, yes, but I don't think he's been 'EAified' or anything like that.

Well, "The Cutie Map" is how a kid's cartoon says "beware the brainwashers at the cult of Social Justice."
And one of the nominees for best fan artist is the author of GamerGate Life. Is this how shitlords have their kek and it too?

I disagree. They made a minor installment: Aperture Robot Repair as well as a personality core guided tutorial for the Vive.

VALVe is making something big for this new realm of VR. Here's hoping not to many people run into their furniture. Or go full Wii controller into the TV again.

Well, Gaben is not totally to blame, you see. Valve bites more than they can chew quite often since Steam went live, and Gaben is no longer as powerful in Valve because of that.

Regarding the Hugo awards. Well, having a homage to orwellian fiction is a very good thing. If you ever consider watching just one story arc of MLP in your life, I strongly recommend those two episodes in particular.

I mean, even Sargon of Akkad acknowledged the potential of anti SJW bronies in the current culture wars. You have no idea of how much conflict is within the fandom since SJWs tried to coopt it. Even regarding the staff. As soon as any staff member expresses a possible SJW alignment, it hits the fan and leaves it all filthy. Especially when the IDW does that since one of them got a big burn, not from anti SJWs within the fandom but from parents because the IDW guy featured a pony fan character drawn by a known SJW misandrist and supported her.

And guess what, Hasbro does not support SJWs, they don't see them as a money source, and proof of that was that they almost fired the guy, and after a while decided to keep him, but they declared that it was no longer allowed to include any form of fan content in their brand anymore.

They won't fire you for your opinion, but they won't allow you to inject it unless it is in line with something profitable and they know SJWs do not bring profit. May The Void and The Profit bless those Hasbro execs!

> That includes no-awarding people like Jim Butcher, of the Dresden Files, for the offense of being nominated by the wrong person.

Also Toni Weisskopf of Baen Books, snubbing Butcher is one thing (his books are great and he's a great person) but no awarding the editing category that Toni Weisskopf is in (saying there was no one worthy that year)?

She grew up in rocket city, she's been in the field since the 80s, and they decided to no award her? That pretty much burnt all bridges with the Baen Barflies, and she already had stormed out at that point due to the "asterisk award" bullshit (basically saying because the clique didn't control the nominations that years awards didn't count).

And it's funny, because after that the usual suspects said that it was the puppies fault for nominating her and if they didn't then she could have gotten an award without the "tainted nomination".

She never got a nomination before the puppies came in.

Also I can't wait to see what Arthur Chu comes up with this year.

Source.

And given that John Scalzi (big-time sci-fi SJW) is friends with Brianna Wu (that's how Frank Wu picked-up 4 Hugos) good odds that BatWu is going to make an appearance.

Hah, yeah, we are pretty much the Gullivers of furries, and we see SJWs as Yahoos.

The thing is, it is a very complex fandom and SJWs tried to coopt it many times. When the show started, during the old 4chan era, many SJWs said the show was shit and reinforced gender stereotypes. Amanda Marcotte is in fact well known for displaying hatred toward the horsefuckers (Bronies in general, but the term horsefucker has an irreverent charm) and the show. First they tried to bring us down, then to control the show, now they want to hijack the fandom. For a while there have been SJWs infecting the show ever since Tumblr found interest in it (Around season 3), it all happened when the culture wars began to get worse, and right now the fandom is very divided, mostly regarding what should and should not be canon in the future. But even with SJW infection, we are pretty much a true reactionary group, and if we find something in the brand we don't like, people lose their minds.

Examples of this are many, but one of them was the Equestria Girls spinoff which had fans planning to kill Hasbro execs and panning the film for being an attempt at competing with Monster High long before the film was released.

Now most of the fandom is pleased with it because the writers nailed it, but now there are many other conflicts, especially because part of the staff displays SJW alignment which angers a large part of the fanbase and has them pitted against the SJWs in the fandom. Right now one of those heated debates took place, and we have an advantage, we have managed to corner SJWs into debate since the fandom was already full with infighting without them, so whenever there is a conflict against SJWs it is just horsefuckers fighting each other in stead of "harassment".

Imagine entering a lodge full of viking berserkers fully drunk and easily angered (Not to mention obsessed with equines) and calling them pigs, or misogynists, or any other SJW ad hominem, you will be forced to drink ale and arm wrestle with the strongest soldier there, and just like vikings we don't even differ between men and women in the battlefield if they prove to be able to fight.

Even in our terminology, for a while there has been a debate about how to call the female fans, some say bronies does not fit girls quite well and use the term pegasister, other use a dudeist approach (Everyone is a "dude") and state brony does not mean being male, but being a friend of the fandom. The debate often results in the majority preferring the dudeist approach.

As you see, the culture wars do not affect only gamers, but one of the advantages of children's brands is that just as Nintendo would eagerly kick an employee for working as escort and advocating for lolicon to be fully accepted, Hasbro would reject any SJW influence in the show because they are concerned of the parent's backlash, and they might be aware that SJWs rarely have children and that most parents are either extremely conservative or downright ConSJW, a term I have just came up with seconds ago to refer to the right wing conservative SJW which basically is just as authoritarian and has a twisted sense of justice as the average SJW but in the opposite direction.

A ConSJW would be just as prone to political correctness but for different reasons, a ConSJW will refuse to allow nudity even in adult media because it is "immoral" or "sinful", a ConSJW opposes homosexuality and believes it is filthy, impure, and therefore against their sense of justice, they will also stand against any form of violence in media, and often agree with average SJWs on many censorship issues.

And that is what Hasbro fears, making the soccermoms, the conservative fathers, and in general all ConSJWs angry again. Why? Because they already had to handle their shit during the "Derpygate incident" a moment in which SJWs and ConSJWs gathered in unison to censor a character who they thought was an insult against the mentally retarded, this resulted in the episode being heavily censored and the character sort of banned for a season. The bronies, who at the time had no SJWs of any kind among them, decided it was not fair to "kill" the cute blonde pegasus who became sort of a fandom icon and began the #SaveDerpy campaign to preventing her from being revoked from reality.

In the end we won, we got her back, but the execs kept her "officially" nameless for a long time, of course previous data had her named officially as Derpy, her name was removed from the episode and her voice was changed to make her sound less "retarded", something many considered absurd since when asked about the her voice, the VA who voiced her said she was based on a kid she knew from her past who was known for being a bit clumsy but not retarded, even Jar Jar was more blatantly retarded and still not censored. In fact the fandom never depicted Derpy as truly retarded but as mildly quirky or clumsy, and given her status as background character, the fandom defined most of her personality.

We, the horsefuckers, were still a bit butthurt over Derpy until the episode 100 when the writers and execs agreed the fire died down enough to decided to give her an important role again, mostly because the merchandise with her image became highly profitable (I own a deck box with her image), and she was given a voice similar to that of the edit of her previous speaking role and in the credits was named "Muffins" which is held as her "official" name to prevent any association with the original incident.

As you see the execs are extremely cautious to never alienate any of their possible customers so they prefer to continue using old cartoon formulas and ignoring SJWs who are never satisfied and will complain anyway. Another example is a later episode in which a male character crossdressed to help his younger sister. The tumblrites reacted as expected and began to claim "transphobia" and Peter New, the character's VA caved in to them and kind of became an SJW, but the fandom in general was not pleased with that, and Hasbro and the show writers decided to just ignore them and keep going on.

Maybe an advantage is that the show writers are truly diverse in ideology to the point that there are some writers who worked in politically incorrect shows such as South Park.

I remember one of the GG supporters in this thread once wrote a letter to bronies to join the culture wars against SJWs. I hope it did not fall in deaf ears, I still keep a copy which I sometimes share with anti SJW bronies. The problem is that some anti SJWs or supposed anti SJWs who are not interested in free speech frown us and furries and constantly accuse us of being just like SJWs, in particular otherkin, and claim bronies are all child molesters.

In the end this war will not be between right or left, but between authoritarians and libertarians.

So an update on the whole crazy fiasco these few weeks and Gamergate possibly falling into the the "harassment against women" role.

TL:DR; Talks about Zoe Quinn and Randi Harper's coordinated attacks. Candace Owen's own declaration of (previous) conspiracy theories and #Trigglypuff (the girl shouting at the Milo discussion at UMASS) becoming proof of harassment against women from Gamergate.

It's a sad state of affairs when Bait is taken.

No, it's a sad state of affairs when someone is so determined to avoid admitting "GamerGate was right" that they try that level of mental backflips to try for "both sides are bad!"

From the "Conspiracy Theorist!" thought-terminating cliche, to trying to attribute all mocking of #Trigglypuff to GamerGate, it's always sad to see someone blindly endorse absolute bullshit in the name of feeling superior.

Claiming AntiGamer doxing, threatening, & getting people fired and GamerGate laughing along with the rest of the internet at some dumbass who publicly embarrassed themselves means "Both sides are equally right and equally wrong, like opposing, evenly balanced forces in a real-time strategy game" is the logic of someone who has made the Golden Mean Fallacy their guiding principle in life.

And they're not going to get very far like that.

Fair enough. I was just looking at the events listed and the popularity of Trigglypuff in accordance to all the other news about all the parties involved. No regards to the writer of the source material, just seeing what was of merit to take note on.

I'm just worried about the state of things turning from "See see! HORSEMINT!" "Where?" "Oh I could show you but just listen and believe" To "Now we have documented proof that one time when x occurred, now we can verify!" (very loosely.)

My viewpoint was not matter of record keeping more of a "what now?"

There's always been "documented proof" that GamerGate is an harassment misogn-rape terror-Nazi cult.

The problem is that said "documented proof" shows nothing like what AntiGamer thinks it does.

And whenever they show it to someone who isn't desperate for a reason to think badly of GamerGate it's not very convincing.

I find it funny that the reason of no women was viewed as legitimate grounds for cancelling the event. The opposition doesn't want to be judged for gender and yet they're judging for gender.

That reminds me of something that happened on campus about a week ago. A small handful of students (less than 20 total) were all standing around at least two different areas outside the buildings brandishing the usual "Equality-Progressive-Feminism" signs with all the gross pastel colors and rhetoric.

This was simultaneously disappointing and encouraging. Obviously, it was disappointing because there are still that many people believing those lies. BUT it was very encouraging because there had to have been less than 20 people out there, and it seemed that most anyone that walked by moved to avoid/ignore them.

There were also one or two girls who had "honk for feminism signs" and while sitting at the window for a few hours, I only heard someone honk once. I don't even know if that was for them. I looked out a while later and they were gone. They could have been gone for some time and the honk could have been for someone not moving when the light turned green.

So funny story time.

You know that Social Autopsy thing, well they changed their Twitter handle and the old one was taken by an AntiGamer troll. The evidence seemed to point to Jessie Singal himself however Randi Harper herself came over to KIA to say it wasn't him (also confirmed she is incredibly close to him) and point to the real troll.

Now it turns out the troll was Nora Reed, some crazy AntiGamer transwoman (that part is going to be important in a minute).

That triggered a call-out from Izzy Galvez & Katherine Cross, both long time AntiGamer agents (Izzy gets people banned from Twitter via brigading the ban reports, Cross was part of FemFreq).

At this point all hell breaks loose, Reed accuses a sci-fi author of doxing her, it turns out that Randi's personal blocklist (not the Autoblocker) that she shills while claiming it targets "MRAs/sockpuppets/gaters/weirdly aggressive conservatives" has 140 SJWs on it including such noted AntiGamers as Arthur Chu, David Gallant, Peter Coffin, Izzy Galvez, Brianna Wu, Jonathan Holmes & more. And of those SJWs on the list fully 25% of them are trans (remember how I said that would be important?)

So now Randi is under fire for being a TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist), Reed is melting down, and basically half of AntiGamer is trying to purge/backstab/throw under the bus all the people they have ideological/personal beefs with while blaming GamerGate.

Basically this is how AntiGamer is currently doing.

Oh, man. This is too perfect. What a set up!

We should get all of these people into the same room for lunch. Not sandwiches or anything hand friendly, something than needs cutlery. Then we have texts/tweets sent to a number of them containing the inflammatory things that have been posted about then by the people around them.

Then we take bets on who gets a fork in their eye, and have a pot on whether or not anyone ends up dead.

Just out of curiosity, what is the general opinion on Jim Sterling at the moment? My opinion on the guy is "some of his videos make good points, but it's still hard for me to take his opinions on some games seriously." And yes a big reason for this his infamous "never live it down" moments of giving games like Sonic Colors and Mario Kart 7 only 4 and 5 out of 10 scores and complaining that the games "barely do anything new," but yet fucking gave Modern Warfare 3 a nearly perfect 9.5/10. It's because of shit like that why I just can't take his videos on stuff like Star Fox Zero seriously at all (my honest response to Jim regarding SF Zero [again paraphrasing a quote from someone else]: the controls don't suck, you're ability to master them does; ask Jirard the Completionist or Andre of GameXplain for how to "git gud").

Disliked I believe
Also, that's true when it comes to the controls. I wish they had a classic control scheme though

Jim Sterling is not well liked in my book either. He rarely takes responsibility and engages in sensationalism. He acts if picking on weak barely noticeable indies counts as being level pro-consumer.

He agreed with doxing and it seems as if he's only with consumers rights when ever it doesn't come at risk to himself.

Hilariously I asked a question on what people thought of Jim Sterling on a 4X steam community and everyone's response was "don't care".

The controls are just so second nature to me now it's honestly gotten to where it's hard for me to comprehend how some people can't seem to get used to them, the one exception being people with a legitimate handicap that prevents them from moving their hands at the wrists.

But anyway I shouldn't get too off topic. To keep this on topic, is there also a general opinion among GG people regarding personalities who don't focus solely on gaming such as "Armoured Skeptic" and ShoeOnHead? I mainly ask because I know a good amount of the people still part of GG also take a lot of issue with SJW types in general, and both are well known names on YouTube in the area of "making critical responses to SJWs." I know in ShoeOnHead's video about the "Feminist Coloring Book" when she got to the page on Brianna Wu she commented "remember Gamergate Brianna? Good times" (her past tense speech makes me think Shoe herself doesn't see GG as that big of a thing anymore).

I was also watching Guru Larry recently and I dunno if anyone posted this Fact Hunt video of his (the video says "forgotten Gamergates" but he changed the YouTube titling so people don't assume it's about the GG of 2014).

I don't know about that.

@Mistress Fortune

It seems to me that Armoured Skeptic and ShoeOnHead are generally well-liked, I think more so by those who are into general politics. I'm only subscribed to Shoe since I find her more entertaining, and she seems to be more unique than others.

She was joking. ShoeonHead does that kind of humor. I watch Armor Skeptic for his Atheist videos and he is in a relationship with ShoeOnHead and they have a similar style when it comes to humor. She is joking in saying that gamergate is over. Like a sarcastic "Yea remember gamergate? good times"

For me that grade of hypocritical dumbfuckery is one of his less annoying traits.

"Wacky Nintendo Racing 7 is only slightly more wacky & Nintendoy then Wacky Nintendo Racing 5! 0/10!", "Archetypal FPS 2000 Part 3 is slightly more archetypal & FPSery then Archetypal FPS 2000 Part 1? 9001/10! Please let me suck your dick Activision!" is self-contradictory stupidity but when he does the same thing with doxing ("doxing is OK when people I like do it") or his "Man of the People Consumer Advocate" shtick (notice how he white-knighted his buddy Leigh Alexander no matter how megalomaniac, openly corrupt, and flat-out cartoonishly supervillainous she got?)

Man spends his entire career violating every one of the principles that he keeps paying lip service to. Break a principle occasionally & I can understand (sometimes it's even the right thing to do), but at this point Jim Sterling is going full-on "family values televangelist hiring travel assistants from rentboy.com".

Hunh. Reminds me of the Christina-Hoff Summers explination of 3rd wave feminism. (In the triggering video posted above if you can get past all the shouting) She explained that in a feminist excercise they had a workshop were idealistic feminists broke off into groups based on how they identified and after a while infighting and furter division occured. One example, she gave was of Black Lesbians excluding other Black Lesbians for having White Partners. This happened with several other grouls as well. She proceeded to conclude that this approach of feminism wasn't self sustaining and would rapidly deteriorate due to infighting.

TL;DR: Enough Special Snowflakes will cause an avalanche in the mounting snowpack that is the SJW movement, once there is no clear uniting force. Without a common enemy, the members will look for a new one, most likely within their own group.

Such turn of events are generally prevented by groups through loyalty and honor. But SJWs don't have that because all of them are authoritarian would be dictators who want to impose their way into others, but their way will never be identical to the way of the other SJW, in the end they end up policing and punishing each other in order to collectively impose their individual principles, a degenerate bastard child of comercial individuality and political collectivism.

sadly, that will only happen after they have wiped-out everyone else in the world
