True, you don't really need a big name to call in a bomb threat, as bomb threats are taken very seriously. You don't even need a name, which could be debated.

Moving on however to the question I've been meaning to ask.. why? What's the point in calling in a bomb threat?

"You're a bad person, therefore anything that prevents you from speaking your bad stuff is good."

Something like that, I imagine. Yes I know it's the exact opposite of reality, where letting a fool speak discredits them and trying to silence someone only makes them look better. It's internet logic. Trying to thread-bad them from real life.

In reference to Roberthaha's comment about Ghazi (quote from a post made by one of Ghazi's mod, see link):

"We know you don't think you're being racist (…) your comments were racist, and you were unconsciously being racist"
You think you're not. But I think you are. Guess who's right? Also, surprisingly, there's not a single mention of "social engineering" in this post.

"It's not overt racism (…) it's the little things [like] the indignity expressed on behalf of all white allies everywhere because one white ally got interrupted on a stage in Seattle"
Sit, ally! Sit. Know your place damn it! Good ally.

"It's the idea that putting pressure on allies is bad even though it has been a staple of progressive politics for years now"
I really wonder why people are getting fed up with these "progressives"? Life hack: if you do a mistake for long enough, it not longer is a mistake.

"The unsaid implication is I support the concept of BlackLivesMatter, but I wish the black activists who interrupted Sanders were not so rude about it and I am not racist, but I think it is problematic that black people decide to call out the white person speaking on their behalf. This is casual racism. And this is not okay."
No, this is denial of the asshole-freepass card under the "positive discrimination" policy. You don't need the card though, just be an asshole, that works too.

"Comments such as I support feminism, but not all men do X to I think generalizing cis people is unhelpful, such statements help to perpetuate injustice and silencing"
Will I ever understand anything but hypocrisy in this quote? Is that guy demanding people to stop commenting about these topics? Wouldn't that be silencing through peer pressure? Do they want the few "good apples" to pay for the "bad ones"? Wouldn't that be injustice? Is it an attempt at manipulating people again? Will Derek finally tell Anita that he loves her?

"This is not a discussion for you to assert that you are not racist and that you are personally offended. As it has already been said, we do not care. If you want to assert that you are personally offended by this post and that this does not apply to you, you are part of the problem."
Oh no! It was a wolf all along! What a twist! Who would have thought that the progressive kingdom of "good feels" devoid of "bad thoughts" really wasn't the country of cotton candy where everyone is equal, welcome and included? I mean what a shock. I didn't know! Did you? Cuzaididnaht. Woaaah. Mind=Blown.

Seriously.

In related news Cracked's parent company's stocks are tanking and they announced layoffs.

I wonder why. They'll probably blame adblock.

Cracked is like…

You wanna know what Cracked reminds me of?

Y'know how in 80s teen movies, there's always the one girl who's supposedly "weird" and "ugly", and by the end of the movie, she gets a makeover to join the "cool kids" and is supposedly "better", but she actually looked better before the makeover because she had a distinct style and wasn't just generically "attractive?"

That's what Cracked reminds me of. (In this metaphor, the "cool kids" are clickbait sites).

So we've got another major video game scandal:

Developers of Planetary Annihilation has released their new standalone expansion… except its not really an expansion its actually the base game with some updates. In fact the base game if you still have it updates to the same state as the standalone. You can't even buy the base game anymore. Players who bought the base game on steam get the expansion for a 66% off discount. Players who backed it on kickstarter get the expansion for free regardless of how much they paid.

So what's the problem?
http://steamcommunity.com/app/386070/discussions/0/521643320346971238/#p2
Planetary annihilation debuted on steam at $90. This means that you could have paid the same amount a kickstarter person paid and not get the expansion. In addition a kickstarter person could pay $20 and they would get the expansion while you did not. There's a heavy backlash occurring on the steam forums about this and in addition the developers have clearly stacked the steam reviews by literally bribing their kickstarter user base while screwing over the actual people who would/did buy the game.

So how does this relate to gamergate? Well this is a major scandal and quite frankly demonstrates unethical behavior… has anyone noticed an article about this from anyone? Because I'm pretty sure the role of a journalist is to report the news on the basis that it would inform and protect the reader base from unethical behavior. Had to be another indie company huh…

There's no way someone was that stupid.

Ah so……tonight on @Midnight tonight (hosted by Chris Hardwick, someone who has shown a bit of an SJW side a few times in the past) he had Wil Wheton and Felicia Day as contestants. Anyways, long story short Wil Wheton won the episode when they were asked to write a Yelp review for NASA trying to turn poop into….food. He wrote a review saying "Still better than Five Guys" Coincidence? I THINK NOT! well, it could be a coincidence….Ah who am I kidding? I'm paranoid as all hell!

I disagree. They call you racist and deny you defense. They swing moods so much, that schizophrenzia is putting it likely.

I'm surprised they didn't say Nintendo was anti-feminism, or that ATLUS is part of the patriarchy.

And when they do, no one will be surprised. No one.

Calling Nintendo or ATLUS small no-name developers though is ridiculous. It's absurd, and downright, empirically, false.

Lauren Mayberry taking 4chan criticism as misogyny with random people coming out in support of her with no idea on what it is all about…..Does history repeat itself? I'm mean the music industry has been a crocked industry for a long, long time, but I doubt this "controversy" will get any where.

But that fact that someone used misogyny so willingly to direct criticism, is the third wave feminist ideology in-bedded in other industries? Makes me wonder of what other future controversies will occur and be redirected by simply subjugate as misogyny as soon as that word is spoken.

Okay, so there's rikameme shitposting in the comment section: GamerGate is using the Ashley Madison leak to do evil stuff again. Might as well do the complete rebuttal here, correct me if I'm wrong.

"It's Internet Aristocrat, he's connected to GamerGate"
Story time about Jim (alias Internet Aristocrat, alias Mister Metokur). Internet Aristocrat was one of the first to ignite the fire, and if it wasn't for him GamerGate wouldn't have turned the way it has. That was a year ago.

Something like four months into GamerGate, some supporters asked him to calm down. He saw this as tone policing. As he disagreed with the path GamerGate was taking, he left in a shitstorm: he terminated his Internet Aristocrat account on YouTube and Twitter, uploaded an audio log ("fuck ya'll I'm out of here"). And later discreetly resurfaced as Mister Metokur and never used the GamerGate hashtag since.

If your ex-boss demands you to work extra time this weekend, you don't have to go: he's not your boss any more. My friend stabbed me in the back? He's no longer my friend. Should I still consider Miles Cheong to be into SJW stuff? No: he said he was done and apologized. Same applies here: Jim left, there's no more connection. People change. Get over it.

"The threads were all from 8chan"
Two things. First, by that logic GamerGate can be blamed for anything screencaped from the Internet since GamerGate is on the Internet. That's low, even by my standards. Boards on 8chan are independent, like users on twitter are independents, and accounts on tumblr are independent. Lumping everybody in the same blob because they are all hosted by the same service is a dangerous oversimplification. So I'm only going to look into GG boards.

"The /gamergatehq/ was already on page 5 when I capped"
So I take it's not overly popular then? Let's look at it anyway. I parsed the 450-entry long catalog and found only 2 threads (to put that in perspective, that's 0.44% of the board's thread -- I'm not even counting the replies or activity, just the heads): 253417, and 232196. If you have others threads regarding the Ashley Madison hacking, please do submit the links or the IDs.

Let's start with the oldest: 232196 is dated from July 20th, 2015. OP submits a link to an article called "Cheating website Ashley Madison has been hacked and customer details leaked" and explains: "I usually lurk but seeing this in a news trend I though it might be a good thing to dig into (…)". The thread has 23 reactions. First reply: "GTFO". Everything after: nothing relevant. There's no link to any data. Anons are pondering whether or not it's okay to look into it. Some are mocking TheQuinnspiracy's (for those who just joined, that is Zoe's twitter account) reaction to the leak. And finally, there's a link to BroTeamPill's twitter that says "Zoe had an AshleyMadison account". That's all there is. That's was one month ago and nothing happened: the thread lasted for 17 hours and died.

Most recent thread: 253417 is dated from August 18th, 2015. OP starts with a link to a reddit post, the content was removed, but someone screencaped it. TL;DR: "GamerGate is a divisive and touchy subject, my four years old relationship with my girlfriend is on the brink because she's against GG and I'm leaning pro. When she learned I was pro, she called me a "fucking misogynist", and refuses to marry me even though it was in the plans before GamerGate was a thing. I don't know whether I should just side with her or camp on my position". The /gamergatehq/ thread has 38 replies, the first few comments are "this guy is blind" and "he's a cuck". Later on, the conversation goes toward "we're not getting a full picture of their relationship" and "I couldn't not imagine myself in his situation". Then back to "beta as fuck" again. And then: "We're going to ruin some SJW/media relationships with that Ashley Madison leak, I tell you what", followed by "please elaborate" and then a summary of the hacking that happened. That's all there is: 1 reaction saying "let's use the Ashley Madison leak". One out of thirty-eight. This thread lasted for a tremendous 25 hours.

"But twitter said"
Twitter says nothing. There's a rumor about a rumor. Here's a search using the AshleyMadison and GamerGate hashtag. Contains nothing of worth: either "I heard GG is doing this", or "I heard people said GG is doing this", or "blame GG regardless". Then there are two people mocking Sam "Bring Back Bullying" Biddle and Van Valkenburg (yep that's Zoe, see 232196). There's also CodingTeddyBear. That's one GG supporter being enthusiast about the leak (liking to /pol/ and /v/). That's only one, but cheer up: if he's really a bear, at least it's a big catch! Another more evasive search contains the same he-said she-said. So bascially nothing.

"Not everybody with GG condones this"
That's the point.

"Sorry, you can try to dismiss this all you want but these caps are real and, if you aren’t convinced"
Try being the keyword here. There's nothing to even try, there's just nothing to dismiss: the sources are there, and there's just nothing. I can't see the tanks, I can't see the hate mob sharpening their axes, I can't see the evil alliance organizing its witch hunt against unfaithful partners. Nothing.

On an unrelated note, I'd like to know where the rumor is coming from, it's useless to feed it.

"1. Find the incident
2. Prove how its related to gamergate. Show that it contains a sizable and relevant amount of supports of the gamergate (i.e gamergate seems to number around 100k, so find an incident that has around 10k members; this is known as a representative sample).
3. Prove that damage actually occurred as a result of this action. Shouldn’t be too hard." – Quoting my self about how to catch GG for damages

Rikameme missed step 2 (and admits that step 2 has not been done) and missed step 3 as I shouldn't have to ask why some thread on 8chan matter because you failed to provide any evidence they actually did anything beyond saying mean words.

Moving back to the planetary annihilation issue.
The devs have done such a bad job of hiding the fake expansion. That users have found that they can get Planetary annihilation Titans for free simply by moving some folders around in their install directory.

https://www.change.org/p/uber-entertainment-planetary-annihilation-titans-stop-making-us-pay-for-what-we-already-paid-for/u/11805492

In addition the petition against the bad business practice has exploded with over 1k supporters… a number which exceeds the amount of people who are currently playing Planetary Annihilation. I'd like to note that Planetary Annhilation's kickstarter went over its goal by over a million dollars. Is Uber trying to emulate double fine? I hope not.

So that locking of the comments in the article a while back had a side effect. Maybe some of us saw it coming, I know I didn't. The rules implemented over the comment section gave some users an in to try to junior-mod content they don't like, which is dubious as hell when there are still new instances of actual chit-chat on the page. Just thought I'd put that out there.

Anyways, I say that because that's the response I got when I posted this. I was more sarcastic and scathing in the comments section but it really didn't matter since the excuses were all very predictable. Pictures below are taken from various GG celebrities and circles, but the denial over this is very real.

InternetAristocrat

Twitter/8chan

/pol/

/v/

/gamergatehq/

Anyway, I decided to look a bit further into the subject.

On /gamergatehq/, the thread you posted about wasn't actually about the Ashley Madison leak, but instead about a different relationship related post on reddit. There was only one poster talking about the leak in that thread, and only one person responded to him.

I did find another thread about the leak on /gamergatehq/ discussing the leak. Most of the posters there did not take an active interest in sorting through the leaked information beyond mocking Zoe Quinn for having an account there.

@rikameme
My answer is a few posts above. If you want the short version, there it is:

Is shown that Jim does not use the GamerGate hashtag anymore.
Is shown that Jim left GamerGate.
Is shown that Jim deleted his Internet Artistocrat after he disagreed with GamerGate.

Yet, still claims Jim is relevant to GamerGate

Let's keep going:

Ignores 37 posts that doesn't fit his argument, cherry-picks one and "see I told you, an entire hatemob".

Ignores a one-month old thread (that lead nowhere) with explicit demand to dig into that thing.

Claims /pol/ and /v/ are GamerGate.

Who's delusional/in denial again? Listen to Internet Aristocrat's final message and tell me he's still in GamerGate. Do it, I want to make sure that brain is still working.

Possibly final update for planetary annihilation (I deleted the old post, but it turns it was a corporate shill lying about who did what, so the info is still valid). I don't see the situation changing anytime soon unless journalists actually do their job or the youtube community starts something.

Here's a message from the moderator of Uber forums.
"Planetary Moderator

"the steam forums are essentially the wild west, where problems are simply ignored. While the PA forums are properly moderated and communicated with."

I can give you a couple of reasons for this:

These are the Official forums – the space that Uber curates to facilitate discussion of their games. It makes sense that they'd devote more of their attention here.
There's a code of conduct here, with reasonably enforceable rules, and a dedicated moderator team who make sure that discussion is civil. Steam forums simply don't have that – you can say as you please then disappear without consequence.
There is literally no barrier to entry on Steam forums. You can make a dummy Steam account, write drivel and flee. New users on the Uber forums must have posts approved unless they have a game key tied to their account. So people here are invested – if they're not they're much more heavily monitored.

Simply put, the Steam forums are a horrible place which I and any other sensible person avoid like the plague."

TL:DR Uber is only willing to talk to consumers in a heavily moderated safe space where censorship is easy. They are not willing to care or even listen to steam users who are and will continue to be their future source of income. To them steam users have no value and deserve to be ripped off and marginalized. They just had to be an indie dev….

That is a correct assessment of the Gamergatehq thread, and I didn't hide that in the screencap. Here's the thing: one person after one person after one person adds up. How many individuals does it take for something to be noteworthy? If you go off of some of the outrage over entries here, it takes two or three before bleating about those SJWs and feminists begins. How many is "most" on the other thread? Is this most of 5 posts, or most of 500? The leaks add up and it doesn't take many posts to ruin many lives when the nature of the leaks is so volatile.

How many individuals does it take for something to be noteworthy?

A lot more than five.

If you go off of some of the outrage over entries here, it takes two or three before bleating about those SJWs and feminists begins.

Is the bleating "Wow this opinion is dumb" or "This is a dangerous opinion"? Is it being done over anonymous internet people or over websites and corporations?

How many is “most” on the other thread? Is this most of 5 posts, or most of 500?

The most of 27.

- That IA no longer associates with GG is a weak argument. He's not representative but he was an early founder and he clearly holds some clout among many supporters. Look at you, you're addressing him on a first-name basis. In the months that GG began, it was entirely his videos that were shared. He was considered a trustworthy source and he is still considered so among those who share his view that GG wasn't extreme enough.

- Ooh 37 posts, how dare I point to the one that's relevant. What, if I'm at the library and I skip 37 books because the 38th book on the shelf is the one that I'm looking for, am I at fault? If I include it among several other examples of the same behavior, does it still qualify as cherry-picking. To use a similar euphemism, we're really grasping at straws already.

- I didn't know about this, thanks! Now, tell me how this helps you exactly? If anything, it affirms that gamergatehq really did intend to dig through the leak with malicious intent.

- /pol/ is highly pro-GG and orchestrated Shekel Shoah. You know, the anti-Gawker campaign that GG takes credit for the uccess of. 4chan's /v/ is where GG began after the Quinnpost. They are not GG in its entirety but what is? Users here tell me /v/ and /pol/ aren't GG, /gamergatehq/ isn't GG, KiA isn't GG, Twitter isn't GG, Sargon, IA and MundaneMatt aren't GG, evidently nothing is GG. As I said previously, I'm pretty impressed that GG is able to pull this disappearing act.

"Ooh 37 posts, how dare I point to the one that’s relevant. What, if I’m at the library and I skip 37 books because the 38th book on the shelf is the one that I’m looking for, am I at fault? But that's not what happened. You opened 1 book, skipped the 37 pages that disputed your thesis, and picked the one page that didn't, ignoring that that page, in context, actually disproves the thesis you're arguing.

Just because you did the same practice with multiple unrelated websites, thus following your analogy did so with multiple books, doesn't make you any more right.

And how exactly does any of this refute the point that he isn't representative today?

What, if I’m at the library and I skip 37 books because the 38th book on the shelf is the one that I’m looking for, am I at fault?

Actually, it seems like what you're doing is more analogous to going through 37 non-science fiction books on a shelf before finding one that is, then scraping together a few more, claiming based on that the entire shelf is sci-fi, and then tacitly suggesting that most of the library is as well. And when someone points out this is wrong, you excuse yourself by saying "well, I was just pointing out that there's some sci-fi here, what the hell is your problem?"

If I include it among several other examples of the same behavior, does it still qualify as cherry-picking?

Perhaps not, but you hardly came close to meeting that standard.

I didn’t know about this, thanks! Now, tell me how this helps you exactly? If anything, it affirms that gamergatehq really did intend to dig through the leak with malicious intent.

Did you just plain miss the "that went nowhere" part? The point is that it shows /gamergatehq/ as a whole didn't give a shit.

/pol/ is highly pro-GG and orchestrated Shekel Shoah. You know, the anti-Gawker campaign that GG takes credit for the success of.

Based on the fact that upon searching for "Shekel Shoah" I was greeted with a thread from GamerGhazi and almost nothing else, my guess is that's what /pol/ called their contribution to taking down Gawker at some point. That was then twisted out of proportion in an attempt to smear GG. The claim that /pol/ "orchestrated" this whole thing is a pretty huge and- from what I've seen- dubious one.

…Sargon, IA and MundaneMatt aren’t GG…

Who exactly told you these things? Sargon in particular seems incredibly strange. I figure it's more likely that what they actually said was "no individual truly represents Gamergate because of its nature as a loose collective".

@rikameme
"if I’m at the library and I skip 37 books because the 38th book on the shelf is the one that I’m looking for"
I'm going to make a screen capture of that one sentence. From now on, KnowYourMeme is a forum where people gather to talk about books and libraries, nothing else. That's how pathetic you are.

At this point, you either cannot read or cannot draw simple conclusion from observations. You're a dysfunctional human being and I pity you. I'm done wasting my time talking against a wall of idiocy.

To be fair, gg talk always gets ugly. It's a controversial topic by nature that pushes against a political side for the actions of a few douchebags. Talking both sides involved here. Seen plently of shit talking of so called "sjw's" and so called "right wing nuts" to go around.

Why do you thibk the good frrrrrrrigin comment thread exists? :P

Err… people? Who follows MaleTrope on YouTube? That Luigi guy calling out the tunnel vision and deceptive arguments in Tropes Vs Women? It looks like the YouTube account has been terminated, along with the Twitter account. Anyone knows what's up?

I'm going to make a screen capture of that one sentence. From now on, KnowYourMeme is a forum where people gather to talk about books and libraries, nothing else. That's how pathetic you are.

At this point, you either cannot read or cannot draw simple conclusion from observations. You're a dysfunctional human being and I pity you. I'm done wasting my time talking against a wall of idiocy.

It was an analogy, not a suggestion but okay. I actually don't visit a forum on a website for internet memes to receive insults from petulant children. Now that that, of course, can happen anywhere, but I thought this place would be above validating it, to say the least. Apparently I was mistaken. I, too, am done wasting my time here, I have better ways to spend my time then wasting my time with assholes like this. Peace KYM.

If you're not willing or able to defend your point then you have no business calling anyone petulant children. It's this kind of attitude that earns you animosity.

He has business calling him that if the other guy calls him a dysfunctional human being that he pitys over a Gamer movement argument. A bit too passionate don't you think?

This video is no longer available because the uploader has closed their YouTube account.

He made some videos saying he was going to stop making videos based on the fact he was facing all types of negative things, based on the fact he decide to make this videos.
This is the second time this happens with him.
The weird thing, is he said he would leave the ones he already made online, so people can see Anita poor work.
I still dont know, i wrote a comment in his last video, i read the comments and he never reply anything to point he will close the channel again.

Liberal Lunacy another woman that should feel bad with herself for the fact she is a #NotYourShield member and not an Aggro.

"Too passionate", I agree.

I have reasons to think the way I do, and I can defend that.

Still, I can't defend the way I overreacted. I lost my temper and shouldn't have wrote that. I see the account has been deactivated but Rikameme, if you're reading this, I genuinely apologize for calling you dysfunctional. I crossed the line, I attacked you instead of the argument, and it's unforgivable. I screwed up.

Hey, I just got back from a two week vacation. What did I miss?

Check the timeline.

TL;DR: Airplay is massive victory, gets interrupted by bomb threats, the SPJ is now working with us on a semi-official basis.

Zoe tries to surrender to Eron to avoid his appeal going to court, he says no and is going to fuck her up real bad legally speaking.

Multiple AAA devs drop anonymity to publicly stand with us, including The Sims, Operation: Flashpoint, and Xbox One/Rockstar (note: the last guy isn't Xbro).

The next big happening will be the aftermath of tonight's Hugo Awards, as the Sad/Rabid Puppies make an impact.

And of course the little SJW clique around those is going to blame GamerGate again. (Because there's no way Sci-Fi fans can just be tired of shit like If You Were a Dinosaur, My Love being nominated).

So, it's not directly GG related (which is why I'm posting it here in the forums), but apparently a mod on Neogaf has decided to go banhammer happy because people were simply either A: Saying they were going to buy a game called Omega Labyrinth, or B: Defending games like and including Omega Labyrinth (Your fairly standard fanservice-heavy Playstation Vita games).

A blogpost covering the "incident".

The original neogaf thread in question.

And the thread on GameFaqs where I first saw this.

The absurdity of moderators on some websites never fails to astound me.

I just found a feminist Wordpress blog that hails Aileen Wuornos, the serial killer, as a feminist hero.
I don't even know what to say, really. If you can manage to victimize a goddamn serial killer by blaming men, you truly are beyond hope.

I wonder why. They'll probably blame adblock.
