So apparently this blog is advertising a possible Dashcon at the McCormick Place in Chicago. The convention scheduled for June 26-28 in 2017. The blog includes a list of guest speakers, including Rebecca Sugar, Laci Green, and Lauren Faust. Admission will be free, supposedly.

Based on the fact that the first (and last) one was such a shitshow that even we documented it, it's being met with reasonable skepticism. However, they've reached out to Plebcomics, who was once doxed and attacked by a bunch of Tumblr users, about hosting a booth. They've also been responsive to talks about it being a hoax or scam, giving explanations for certain issues.

For me, there are only a couple possible reasons for this.

• It's all a joke; there will be no convention.
• SCAMCON 2017 (although admission is free and I haven't seen any crowdfunding campaigns to make this happen)
• Someone can and genuinely wants to do a Tumblr convention correctly.

Does that mean they get a new and improved ball pit?

Any formal ads regarding this?

Dashcon is not a contracted event at McCormick Place on June 26 – 28, 2017. We have reached out to the event organizer through email to ask them to remove McCormick Place as the host venue.

Even if it will take place I don't think that there will be something worthwhile to come

Do you have an explanation why Ballpitcon 2017 has listed McCormick Place as the host venue? Did they reach out to you and your employer later discovered the history behind it and pulled out, or did a third party make you aware of the payment issues from the previous Ballpitcon? Regardless, thanks for reaching out to us.

So, according to a post following some explanations, the new plan is to host a Discord server during the originally planned convention date, as "trolls" interfered with the plans for the con.

I'm disappointed, because that means there won't be a live, physical reenactment of the Great Ball Pit Desecration of 2014.
