I was cruising the internet looking for trouble, ready to Troll my next victim. Mind you at the time I was looking to do as much damage on forums as possible, even making multiple accounts to troll myself only to continue the downward spiral into the depths of the internet underground. While scraping my knuckles across the keyboard waiting and watching for my next moment I come across KYM. A total source of every meme. I was so astounded I knew I could have a field day with all these other Internet researchers, but I soon discovered that would not work here. At all in fact. Everyone was if not as sharp as me but sharper and would never fall for my tactics and leave me floating alone in the dark abyss of the internet cold and alone. Then KYM shined a glorious light the brought me closer and embraced me. Washed away all the sins of my internet past and showed me what a true internet user is. Or I was looking for silly cat videos.

After finding and enjoying the KYM episodes on youtube, I began going into meme knowledge withdrawal, or MKD, from the sudden and unexplainable stop in new videos. This caused me to actually bother visiting the website to look for something I hadn't already seen. Sure enough, I was not dissapointed.

But seriously, WHY NO NEW EPISODES?!?! My teeth hurt so bad!

I was searching for material to post on the LoL forums when I stumbled upon "WTF Pictures and Videos." Needless to say I was hooked on this site from the beginning and now have thousands of pictures and gifs cluttering my desktop.

I looked up SlenderMan on Bing and found this place. It was magical! I spent a good three hours after that looking up Memes', and lurked around for a couple of months before I created a Account in April.

So, there. POOF! I APPEAR!

Me and my uncle were looking at "all your base"
found a link to this website
lerked for a few weeks,
my school gave me a laptop
I sighned up
my grades decended to a new depth

My friends showed me what was then only a series of Rocketboom about memes.
Me liked.
You know, I showed them the whole imageboard thing years ago, but they didn't quite understand alot memes.
After watching those episodes, they suddenly all got it.

And I registered here in 2009 summer, to upload some fsjals.

Hercules, if you're going to fill the therad with responses to spambots, could you at least use a variety of pictures? :(

Also: I came here through a craigslist ad for a merch intern…I interviewed with Jamie and Greg… and the rest is history. :D

Walks in

…….

Rainbow Dash Salutes The Soviets, I'm comin' over to hide in the bunker, another thread turned to spam……

Walks out

First I saw the website's documentary videos, then when I looked up some Japanese memes and noticed there weren't many submitted, I decided to create this topic:

https://knowyourmeme.com/forums/meme-research/topics/347-found-more-japanese-internet-memes

Next, a KYM member name G0 DVL contacted me and said that we can work together on the Japanese Internet meme research. He created the Hissu Amoto San entry by my request, while he also created this thread that's still active today:

I found out about kym through YouTube. I searched for meme cause I didn't really know what one was.

That's when I decided to check the site out to see if there were any more episodes. Sadly… no.

Lurked a little around the site and realized you could submit pics /vids. I really like macros so I added some and shit. So I made an account. Later on I looked at the forums and remember how much I used to be on this one forums a few years ago.
I enjoy this forum and don't plan on leaving, I just can't post as much cause I'm waiting for my computer and i hate using web on phones.
that's my story and I'm stickin to it.><

My dad introduced me to Rocketboom in 2007(idk why).I was so obssesed with Know your meme that I subscribed to it on youtube.I didn't find out about the website 'till 2010 and didn't decide to make an account until I found out about Hood Dad.I then made a page for Hood Dad.Then,it sadly fell into the deadpool :(

I ended up on the website for the first time through Boxxy episode in early 2009. After watching Xzibit Yo Dawg and Single Serving Sites episodes, I signed up for a KYM account My first entry submission was Playing Dead!

I remember the day I joined like it was yesterday…because it was.

Anyways, I've followed the site for a while and I think I found it looking up some meme on Google and finding the site. I only joined recently to post a few pics on some memes.

My first meme was Obi-Wan Hates. I was looking for instances of it when I found its entry on here. I had heard people mention memes before, but I wasn't sure what they were talking about until then. My first and only meme entry so far is Clark and Stanley. Since my joining this site, I've become a researcher.

I was being a troll, got banned, came back using proxy, got bashed by the community to this day!
Ok, the last part was a lie(partially).
:D

It was the summer of 2009 and i had just gotten my first computer. I was spending a lot of time on the internet, and had started finding little memes. I had just gotten rickrolled for the first time when the rick astley virus came out. I texted my friend about it, and he had gotten rickrolled on his sister's computer. we found out what a rickroll was later, and I decided to google it. know your meme came up, but i didn't go to it. a few months later, around march 2010, I decided to go on know your meme. After spending hours on it, i bookmarked it. Know your meme completely changed their layout about a month later, and i stopped going on. I came back March 2011 to research MLP FiM, after watching ponycraft 2 on Kotaku. After lurking fairly often, i decided to make an account in may. I found the forums about a week ago, and i still haven't gotten into MLP. Not Yet.

I saw the fuck you, I'm an anteater meme when some kid searched it at my school and it came up in the search bar history when i clicked on the search bar. I read through all the memes in the space of about 3 weeks, and now i visit regularly to see the updates.

Well you see, It deals with an old story I don't care to educate you guys on. Long story short, was on forum, admin leaves, admin comes back months later, makes thread to say is back, cluttered with spam, admin replies he loves the forum and think of it as a worksafe 4chan, with the exception that no ones posting ponies, admin demands ponies sarcastically, take it as srs, research on /b/ reveals ponies are My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, google it, found this site, research meme on pony, found out site contains all the stuff I see on memebase, sticks around a while, posts in this thread.

AND THATS HOW I GOT HERE.

The first time I visited KYM was back in October 2009. I was linked from i-am-bored.com. I only remember seeing Hallow-meme costumes, and the database having a few Confirmed entries, that's it. After watching all the episodes and reading up on memes, I decided to make an account. It was start of Christmas break, two months after the first encounter.

After making the account, all I've ever focused on was researching, submitting, and learning about memes. I've never had the initiative to make friends nor contact with the community. I only replied back on entry comments. Two reasons why: 1. I didn't want to get attached to people I don't know from the internet. 2. I seriously had no idea there was a forum.

After finding the forums, I just lurked around, tried my best to avoid talking to anyone. But I caved, and thought a post once in a while wouldn't hurt. Frequenting the forums led me to discover the IRC. That's when I got really interactive with the community… Ironically, fast-forward a month later, I become a forum mod. One of the happiest days of my life.

I believe my first forum post was on the Family Photo thread :')

TL;DR: I find KYM through i-am-bored.com. Watched episodes. Signed up for an account. Submitted memes. Started chatting in forums and IRC. Become a forum mod. No regrets.

I've been lurking here for a very long time. I didn't make an account for the longest time though because I was afraid of being made to look like an idiot if I didn't understand something.

I'd see people join and immediately everyone was so harsh about them being "newfags" that I figured I'd better read up on all of the methods and observations the best users were using, sort of get on the same page as everyone else before being chased out.

But then I started to see even more people with strong opinions and many with dumb ideas telling others why they were wrong. So I've gotten over it and decided that I'll assert my opinions and just see what comes of it.

Well for me I actually learned about this site from a friend of mine on Xbox. And my first submission was Airman ga Taosenai. I doubt it will be confirmed, but at the time it seemed like a pretty good idea. I actually even got a few kids at my school addicted to memes.
