Guys. Chill. I was out with my miniscule family eating sushi to celebrate conning my way through another semester. Its no big deal. I'm almost done writing this turn.

RapturJesus, you can join if you send a PM. I'm not just gonna slap your nation on the map unless you actually do something with it from its start.

Wait, there's places that serve Sushi in Texas?! WHY HAVE I NOT BEEN TOLD?

Turn 9
Iron Age

Game Notes:
-Pimp Abra is removed from the game on account of his nation being completely destroyed, and not having sent a turn for a few days now. I guess he doesn't care.
-Religion map has been added. White areas do not represent atheism. Those are areas where no specifically defined faith has reached them, and they believe in their own independent god(s).

Nations:

Cultures

Religions

Angmar (WitchKing)

Govt: Oligarchy
Army: [=====|=====]
Navy: [===|=======]

Tech: [=====|=====]
-Attempts to forge an alliance with Rome have failed, as the Emperor sees very little reason for Rome to have many friends when she can support herself alone.
-Armenia is invaded, and utterly crushed under the weight of Angmar's armies from the north and south.
-Crossbows are becoming a major weapon for the armies.
-Scholars travel abroad to Prometheus to learn advanced methods of war and science.

Cattonia (MadCat)

Govt: Kingdom
Army: [===|=======]
Navy: [==|========]

Tech: [==========|]
-The army of the north retreats from Nubia, and the war is lost. Nubia reclaims the lost territory and a stalemate is achieved. The soldiers return home as heroes though, with much plunder and power gained through their conquests along the upper Nile in Sudan.
-The invasion force in South Africa mysteriously disappears, and is no longer heard from. Couriers cannot find the force to return messages from, and it is assumed lost.
-A trade route along the Nile establishes good relations with Nubia and the Roman province of Aegyptus, as well as providing revenue and goods to the Cattonians.
-Madagascar is invaded and, albeit with tremendous losses, the island is successfully taken and the pimp nation is no more.

Falconland (DouglasJFalcon)

Govt: Kingdom
Army: [=====|=====]
Navy: [=|=========]

Tech: [======|====]
-The military is augmented with metal shields, catapults, slings, bows, and new recruits.
-Expansion continues westward.
-Some mentally incapacitated prince sends an expedition out to sea, never to be heard from again. This senseless loss of ships devastates the fleet.
-A military academy is opened, and formal educations for the privileged becomes standard.

Fasier (DarkErmac)

Govt: Oligarchy
Army: [|==========]
Navy: [|==========]

Tech: [=|=========]
-The Fasians develop their own unique language.
-Stone bricked houses are built.
-An oligarchy based upon rule-by-age is established.
-Mining for iron is undergone, although the region is not very suitable for finding such, and stone tools continue to proliferate every day usage.
-Terraced crop levels are used to improve farming output.
-The military is improved from next to none to a small scouting regiment.

Mertola (RocketPropelledPanda)

Govt: Monarchial Republic
Army: [==========|]
Navy: [|==========]

Tech: [====|======]
-A bunch of ninjas start terrorizing the capital without reason. In particular, they are working to eliminate every sun dial in the town. Nobody knows why or where they came from.
-For some reason, the Mertolan king seems to believe that such a creature known as the "horse" exists and that his hordes use them. Perhaps it was not made clear to him that these animals are not on the continent yet, and that his men ride upon hardy deer and horn-trimmed stags.
-The horde continues plundering eastward, integrating the chariot into their forces. This only makes their progress slower and more convoluted as the carts are constantly getting stuck in the rocky Appalachian terrain, or the wheels need replacement by skilled wood-smiths that are never around when an army needs them most.

Naronius (MisterJ)

Govt: Republic
Army: [===|=======]
Navy: [======|====]

Tech: [=====|=====]
-Negotiations for trade with China end well, and the peaceable empire agrees to a trading alliance.
-Silk weaving becomes a popular occupation.
-Brick fortresses are built upon the island provinces of Taiwan and Hainan.
-The Ryukyu islands are occupied.
-An outright invasion of the Malay peninsula goes swimmingly.

Prometheus (Vlad)

Govt: Republic
Army: [======|====]
Navy: [====|======]

Tech: [==========|]
-Trade with Angmar and Rossiya is encouraged through lax tariffs.
-Siege weapons and Greek fire are added to the armament of the army and navy, respectively.
-The library is expanded with new texts from Rossiya.
-An expedition into the red sea uncovers a few new nations in lower Arabia.
-Forts are set up in Sinai and Aegyptus to defend against Roman legions, should they attack.
-The Keffiyeh is adopted as standard garment in the military, and quickly spreads to popular usage among the un-enlisted people as well.
-Crossbows are becoming popular for their pinpoint accuracy, although the bow is still used for its range and affordability in large numbers.
-Steel, already a commonly used metal in all walks of life, is… well it just already is.
-Judea is invaded in force, and quite quickly taken over.

Rossiya (RussianFedora)

Govt: Republic
Army: [==|========]
Navy: [=|=========]

Tech: [=========|=]
-Tehran is strengthened with a sizable garrison, and then the armies return home.
-The military is reorganized into sizable legions, which then march east to encounter the rumors of barbarian threat. Lo and behold, the Huns arrive, and tear the Rossiyans to shreds. Phalanx tactics fail to overcome the vastly superior numbers, ranged weapons, and mobility of the horde.
-Large numbers of horses are summoned up from various rural villages and ranches to match the Hunnic horseback tactics. However, they are no match for the battle hardened Huns, whom have the experience of many generations of horse riding and archery.
-The Huns have successfully broken and routed most of Rossiya's armies, and continue in their relentless march westward, plundering and raping the land and its residents as they progress.
-The Scythians, displaced by the Huns, have by and large vacated their lands and moved in horde fashion to the west, infringing upon Rossiya's claims.
-In fear of the approaching horde, many are fleeing their homes, taking

Syserror (BSOD)

Govt: Republic
Army: [===|=======]
Navy: [======|====]

Tech: [========|==]
-The fleet continues its movement north, capturing new islands for the republic.
-Sydney complies with a demand to move northwards and launch a campaign against Magwoli.
-Missionaries continue their work in converting Magwoli people to their faith, but the polytheistic nature of the religion makes it difficult to agree on any individual god or policy to follow.
-The citizenry is assured that the conquests are entirely justified, but honestly at this point in history nobody cared about peacekeeping or the United Nations.

Teclos (QuakerPerez)

Govt: Monarchial Republic
Army: [======|====]
Navy: [==|========]

Tech: [=========|=]
-At Teclos's request, the Roman Empire stands back on invading Vulcan a second time.
-An attempt to negotiate with the Roman Senate for the release of Iberia to the Teclos has failed, as the Senate sees no reason why the province should be removed from good. Furthermore, the Emperor has seized most of the senate's powers anyway, and they would be unable to grant such a request in the first place.
-The attack on Mauretania continues until the kingdom is destroyed and conquered.
-Teclan legions are turned back when trying to cross the Roman border, as Rome refuses to allow them to move across Gaul to attack the Germanians.
-Pave highways are constructed and linked up with the famous Roman road system.
-The army continues its conscription.
-Mathematics becomes a popular study at the university.

Vulcan (FridgeLogic)

Govt: Theocratic Republic
Army: [====|======]
Navy: [==|========]

Tech: [===|=======]
-Diplomats sent to Rome are refused on account of the Vulcans being seen as a primitive "uncivilized" race of people.
-An army is sent deep into the land of Eire.
-A three tiered governmental structure is formed, with the King, the High Council, and the High Court all sharing and interchanging duties and powers between each other.
-Music is rapidly becoming an extremely popular method of self expression, to the point that many musical traditions and rights of passage have become ingrained into society and the maturity of young persons. Most people also write their own funeral requiems.

What an unfortunate turn of events. First Alexander, then the Seleucid Empire, and now the Huns. I should have started in Australia instead. If worse comes to worse, RF can take shelter in Prometheus (and could you please make sure to save your library? I don't think the Huns have much of an appreciation for literature).

You can count on it. They're probably going to burn down the entire city just like the Mongol Horde did to the Kievan Rus. I'm going to need some ships to evacuate though, can you send me some? I don't think I have enough triremes to save everyone and all the books right now.

You have plenty of ships to evacuate a minimal force and the library to Tehran. Just don't try something silly like you did when you tried invading the Seleucids.

What about my people? And the food and water they need to survive the trip?

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Your primary concerns right now should be escaping and not being overwhelmed before you escape. Sure, some people may die along the way, but that's all insignificant in the long run.

So, how exactly is this going to work? Am I going to be spawning a little country in the middle of yours or something? I ask because I'd hate to have to actually take some of your land, seeing as you're being so hospitable.

But you have the entire African region to conquer, why do you want to jump right in the middle of a bunch feuding Empires?

You'll be forming a government-in-exile inside the Prometheus capital of Olympus. You won't be getting any actual land, but you will have a part of Arcadia's Glen to yourself. Once the Huns collapse or are defeated you can go back to Rossiya.

Will I have a say in Prometheus' politics? (Also what is Arcadia's Glen?)

I said if I can but I can't and I'll just take all of Africa.

Piano wrote:

Yeah, just let things even out in the Middle East and Europe for now.

Yeah I'm not doing that either. The Teclos and Vulcans will take Europe and the Ming will take Asia

@madcat, the Hun's aren't even headed for the middle east. Vlad is pretty safe where he is, especially considering the fact that Rome has begun her stagnation and will be of gradually decreasing threat to him. I don't know why you think you will be able to pick up the pieces when he's probably going to remain intact.

@RF, you aren't bringing your people with you. At least, not most of them. You can choose to do that if you want, and then you will become a technology depraved wandering horde until you find a new land to settle in. I wouldn't suggest that, since you have Tehran to fall back on, and the Parthian Empire is on the verge of collapsing and therefor won't be a threat to your outpost. And in case you didn't look at the map, you have no possible route to Prometheus other than moving through Tehran. It just makes more sense to settle there, but it is your call.

I won't go quietly. I've been nuked, frozen over, invaded, annexed, and turned into a vassal and I'm still here. And now that you've recently been defeated by Nubia, I doubt you'll pose a threat to my Southern borders anytime soon.

No, for the next few centuries the Middle East and Europe will be rampant with war between Empires. Besides, Teclo and Vulcan barely have any land, compared to, say, Angmar or Prometheus.

The only reason I was afraid of moving to my little colony was because I though someone was going to invade me, but if the surrounding enemies are on the brink of collapse, I guess I'll just settle in the Rossiyan colony.

Thanks for the gesture Vlad, but I won't need to move to your capital now.

Piano wrote:

Arcadia's Glen is the parliamentary building of Prometheus. As (the remains of) a foreign government, I don't think you'll have much of a say in Prometheus' politics.

Losing to Nubia is pretty embarrassing, I'll just stop talking.

Relocate your empire's capital to the middle east? Form a horde before they reach you and steamroll westward yourself? Fight until they have gone past you and then rebuild?

You've got options man, options.

Well, there goes my turn through KYM mail.

I'm either saved or damned.

And I hate to pick, because I know you have a real life, but could you post a bit earlier?

It's 1 AM here.

EDIT: Russian, if you're going to evac, could you lend a deal of your military to my cause? You as well, Vlad?

Soon we’ll have nothing left to defend, and that means we have only one option…attack.

I have barely anything of a military left after the horde attack, so I'll need it to defend the Rossiyan colony if needed. But tell you what, I'll send you some flamethrowers, because I probably won't be needing them.

I know, and I respect your personal life. If it was possible is all. Usually I need my sleep four or five hours earlier than this.

I see then. Alright, you may need those anyway.
