Does my character count?
Well, sure. :P
Well, okay, I guess I should start this off anyway since I started this whole shebang. Time to let loose my main lead then, Chris Hayabusa. I'm going to copy and paste what I have already typed up on DeviantART for the sake of speed.
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 195 lbs
Species: Wolf
Hair color: Gray
Eye color: Blue
Family: Damien Hayabusa (father), Susan Hayabusa (mother), Christie Hayabusa (sister), Jaden Hayabusa (brother)
Powers/Abilities: Chris is extremely proficient in martial arts, having trained in the Soaring Dragon Dojo since he was 7 years old. He came up with an original style of combat based in Wing Chun, Capoeira, and wrestling. He also has an interest in parkour, which he uses as a part of his daily training regimen. Chris comes from a long line of pyrokinetics, and even though his parents found no use for such powers, Chris' power is just as strong as the rest of his heritage.
Weaknesses: Chris has a very serious fear of being weak, not being able to carry out his goals as he envisions them or protect others. His sense of justice is noble, but it is prone to being manipulated for others. He also seems to be prone to some inner turmoil he might not be aware of. Chris also has a problem with being carried away by being a showman.
Biography: As a child, Chris was just as bullied as other kids, and he couldn't stand seeing them every day at school. Even though he was mostly quiet and was generally well-behaved, Chris always wanted to find a way to help others but wasn't sure how. Then one day, when Chris was a 2nd grader, one of the bullies decided to target Chris, to get a reaction out of him, the young wolf didn't pay too much attention to him until the bully started to insult Chris' parents, a surefire way to anger him at that age. Out of nowhere, Chris' right hand ignited with burning violet flames and the bully quickly backed off, not mentioning the event to anybody in order to protect his reputation. Chris looked at his quickly diminishing fire. He had power. He found a way to protect others.
But even though Chris realized he was special, he didn't think things through on how to use it. The following day, Chris witnessed the same bully from yesterday picking on a much smaller student. This was it. This was Chris' chance to be a hero. From the blue, Chris charged at the 5th grader and jumped on him, wildly using his pyro abilities, causing 1st degree burns towards the "villain". This power possessed him, as he proceeded to attack the bully while he was still on the ground.
As no surprise, Chris was suspended from school indefinitely, but his parents took him out of school for his own safety from the other kids. Following the suspension, Chris' younger siblings, Jaden and Christie, looked upon their older brother with a sense of fear over what he could do to them. Wishing to defuse the paranoia occurring among his children, Damien Hayabusa talked to his oldest son about how he appreciated the fact that Chris was trying to help others but was at the same time disappointed that he didn't handle the situation differently. After talking it over, Damien and Susan enrolled Chris into the Soaring Dragon Dojo, a martial arts school owned and ran by a family friend of theirs named Jirokai, in order to help Chris better grasp his abilities and learn to use them responsibly. Strangely, only two other children were taught at the same time that Chris was, and yet, the dojo was very clean and modern, as if Jirokai taught that many students to afford it. These two new classmates of Chris' were Shojira Hyujimoto, a tiger who was taking care of his younger sister after their parents succumbed to a disease, and Bailey Rosworth, a female badger who was about twice as tall as Chris as well as a tomboy.
As years passed and Jirokai taught the trio in ways that not only improved their bodies but their minds beyond the limits of their bodies, Chris not only learned how to control his pyrokinesis but to think through situations where he would have jumped the gun if not for his training. Now much more social and energetic thanks to his friendships with Bailey and Shojira, he was able to finish school at a proficient level. Chris has been taking several odd jobs around his hometown as a means to get by living on his own. He technically graduated from the dojo but is still involved to help new recruits. Lately, an announcement was made for a festival in the royal city of Aldwynne that would feature a martial arts tournament. But little did everyone involved know that their lives would change on that day.

Did you find this somewhere? Or did you make this up because I am utterly confused.
I just made it up.

Oh thank God. I was rather terrified at the backstory.
(Sorry for the use of Phoenix Wright sprites, I'm in a very Ace Attorney mood.)
Hmmmmm, interesting thread.
Once I move on from my neurotic perfectionism and stop hating my own work, I can see myself being a budding writer. In the meantime however, I have countless ideas swimming around in my mind and no courage to actually do anything with them, so I think I can share a few on here.
Allow me some time to dig around in my head and find something I'm willing to share.
That's fine with me. That's what this thread is all about. Ideas. :>
With the occasional joke character.

Species: Pone
Hair color: Dark Gray

Family: Red Ring of Death (Xbox), Spinning beach ball of death (Mac), Red Screen of death (Mac), Black Screen of death (DOS)
Backstory:
It’s hard designing an operating system for people with hooves.
The magic mirror that connected Equestria (pone world) to Equestria High (human world) allowed for the introduction of advanced human technology into the Equestria. Human electronics was decades ahead of Equine electronics. The so called “magic without unicorns” drew so much amazement among ponies.
Microsoft foresaw amazing prospects marketing their products to these creatures beyond the mirror
They were wrong. Fast forward a bit; The Canterlot Microsoft branch was now on its last legs. Desktop and office software simply was not catching on with the Equines. Everything Microsoft introduced had to be completely redone in order to suit the pony market.
Windows needed to work with one-button mice and keyboards with only 7 giant keys. Amidst these changes, the Equestrian version of Windows was having massive problems. Crashing left and right. Blue screens.
On top of this, most ponies relied on magic for their communication needs anyway. That, and the Apple hayPhone designed for ponies was proving to be insurmountable competition
Soon the Canterlot Microsoft offices prepared to close until the main branch could give it more funding. Ponies packed up their desks and sent in their resume’s to new businesses…except one. One Unicorn had a last idea. A crazy desperate idea.
Nobody knows who this guy was, aside from the fact he was a unicorn desperate to save his job. His plan was to integrate Windows with magic. The goal was a living, sapient OS. Instead of using a mouse and keyboard; he could just tell it what to do. Details of this were kept a closely guarded secret. Black magic was involved and Celestia would have had his head if he was caught.
He tried a number of different spells, including a spell that was intended to expel all the errors straight out of the software. And another that makes electronics come alive
Blue Screen was born that day….well…not really born as much as his spirit materialised from pure machine code. Faulty, incorrect code was banished from digital context by one spell. A second spell converted that banished code into a spirit that took the form of a living, breathing pony. Even though the body was technically a digital construction inside the computer, it had a quasi-physical existence in cyberspace
The young digital spirit quickly became self-aware. Since it was made out of error code, it’s first instinct was to…well…cause errors.
The technician looked upon the results of his spells. All he could see was a malfunctioning computer with constant errors. The opposite of what he wanted. Now feeling deeply regretful for using black magic, the disappointed technician packed up all the evidence, fled and vanished.
Years later.
Blue Screen was getting tired of Las Pegasus. “Let’s go back to Canterlot” he thought. He ignored the train station and instead wandered near a pony with a hayPhone. As soon as he was within 2 meters, he concentrated on the screen. Instantly, his body digitised and downloaded itself wirelessly into the strangers device
The pony turned around to see who made that flash behind her. Nobody was there. She looked back at her phone and saw that her browser just crashed
Inside Cyberspace, Blue was a god in perfect control of his environment. He trashed all the running apps on the phone just for his own amusement. It was his only idea of fun…and sometimes food. Then he transferred himself across the phone lines and reconstructed himself instantly near a phone booth in Canterlot. He’s always been able to pass through cyberspace like this but never understood why, or how. It’s the only magical power he possesses.
In fact, Blue Screen doesn’t know anything about himself. Most of his knowledge about the universe comes straight from the ponynet and that never contained any info on himself except for references to an error message called the “Blue Screen of Death”. He would wonder why other ponies gave him that name. Was it because he looked like like a BSOD, or was the BSOD named after him?
He doesn’t know where he came from, or why. He doesn’t know what makes him different or why he was born with a pre-destined cutie mark. He doesn’t even know how he can make software fail and display blue screens that look just like him. It just happens
His earliest memory was crawling onto the streets of Canterlot as a filly and winding up in the care of some fosters for a while. But Blue Screen was a savant at just appearing out of nowhere for no reason. He never liked being in one place. He was impossible to contain. As far as he knew, he was always travelling and living off whatever resources he came across.
Most of the time he ignores his missing past, but it always bothers him when his thoughts idle. His whole life he always felt like he was looking for something. He is always wandering. Always questioning. Always tampering. Always trying to find answers to a question he doesn’t yet understand.
So can it be any character? I mean, it doesn't have to represent you, right?
Of course not. Any original character you have.
tfw< You have a fully fleshed out OC, but lack the artistic skill to make it presentable.

I know that feeling like I know how to walk.
Well, I guess I'll post my main character for the roleplay general here (especially since he's the only one I have an individual image for! And no, I did not draw this art, I am not that skilled.)
Tahrdan "Tardises" Ismeh Wu-Temporis
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Height: To be honest, I don't have any ideas for this. Average, I guess?
Weight; See above.
Species: Human
Hair colour: Brown
Eye colour: Blue
Occupation: Aquamancer
Family: Unknown (He doesn't talk about it because he does not feel the need to.)
Abilities: He has some degree of proficiency with water magic, having a total of five spells currently. These are Bubble (a relatively weak attack spell), Whirlpool (a stronger attack spell that also debuffs magic power of the targets), Tsunami (A very powerful area of effect attack spell), Cleansing Foam (He created this one by accident. It's a weak healing spell but also curse poison), and Null Water Once (Exactly what it says on the tin). At some point in his adventures (roleplay general), he could summon a being by the name of Open Your Heart (long story unless you're were in the rp general back then, in which case you'd know all about it). OYH is a shapeshifter, and as such can take blows with ease. In addition, it can initiate 'Chaos Mode', which is essentually a ridiculous range increase for Tahrdan's sword (And no, it doesn't make the sword any heavier.)… Finally, he can store items away and access them when he needs them. Everyone in the group he's in can do this, as it is the first thing they learned in regards to magic.
Strengths: See abilities… In addition to this, he is himself water elemental, meaning that he has some resistance to water attacks. In addition, he doesn't seem to be distracted by women in revealing attire. When asked about this he only responded with 'I've got those urges under control.'
Weaknesses: He has just three real weaknesses. The first is the fact that almost all his attacks are water elemental, so anything immune to water will give him a lot of trouble. The second isn't an actual weakness, but he doesn't like heights. He has been subject to mockery as a result of this. And the final weakness is that he is weak to earth. Earth is effective against water where he comes from.
Backstory
Tahrdan spent his childhood on a world which was essentially a typical; fantasy world, in that there is a medieval tech level as well as magic. When he was about 12 he was inducted into the Order of Mages, a group dedicated to researching magic (and soon to start researching forms of magic from other worlds), where he learned how to grab items from a personalised dimension (They call it an 'inventory'), as well as Bubble, Null Water Once, Whirlpool and Tsunami (in that order). In addition he was given a choice of weapon to use, he opted for a one-handed sword. He would later get it upgraded to give a significant boost to water spells. The sword itself would acquire glowing lines, some of which trace the water glyph (the same glyph is on his clothing, as seen in the image above)
The adventure
Things seemed normal by an aquamancer's standards, until he was once separated from his lumimancer when exploring a world that turned out to be in conflict. A lumimancer specialises in light magic, which for some reason includes the spell Warp, which is how the Order can cover many different worlds. Anyway, after this happened, there were concerns that he was abandoning the Order, and as such one of the 6 archmages overreacted and tried to have him killed. Luckily for him he had met some allies who were more than a match for the groups sent. He acquired OYH around this time. Later, two more powerful mages, one fire elemental elemancer (specialises in earth, water, fire, and air) and one dark elemental equilibriumancer (specialises in light and dark), encountered him, while he was just one of many fighting this huge world-destroying beast. They ended up helping out… and then the archmages found him, and quickly realised that he wasn't abandoning them. They travelled around somewhat briefly, getting the sword upgrade at this time, being taken to another world, and then… just seemed to drop out of things for a couple of months. When he was next seen, he was with the water elemental archmage (an archmage uses all 6 elements the Order knows of, as proficiently as anyone else possibly can), and joined in with the others there. They were planning to release a world from the clutches of a dictator, and there was some time training before they actually fought. Tahrdan, the elemancer, equilibriumancer, and all but the dark elemental archmage were part of this conflict, though they weren't really anything special except when they had to fight as just a single group. The other magic users were much more powerful, and the soldiers had technology only the light elemental archmage had any clue of. After this they went down to the world they had helped save, which had been newly recreated by an omnipotent… crow, as a matter of fact. (That is a long story which I wasn't even there for the whole of), being joined by the last archmage. The water, fire, and dark elemental archmages went off some time later to resolve a problem relating to a crystal (and as a matter of fact the reason why Tahrdan was nearly killed, as there was one who had left before, and that guy was actually masterminding things.) It has been a month, and no sign of the three of them yet… As things stand currently… Well, the only real thing new is that his attacks are a little more powerful now.Notes:
Yes, that 'adventure' is essentually a plot summary of everything in the roleplay general that relates to Tahrdan here. Right up to now.
