Pokemon X and Y: Know Your Meme Tournament! (Because Not all of Us Have a Wii U)

Actually, I'm having problems with my wifi, and I'm using a public library computer, but it will clear up in a few hours…

Expect me on then.

I'm busy from 7 to at least 9, and I won't be up too much later than 11, because I have a meeting at work in the morning.

OP, if Creme can't make it tonight, then I'll just cede the match to him. We can't hold this up much longer than we have, and my schedule tends to end up being a problem for a lot of people.

Creme/Picard/Dorian/Emerson/etc., like I said, I have a previous obligation until 9ish. I may not be done right at 9, but I'll formally challenge you when I am ready.

If it is any less than a slap to the face with a silk white glove, I will be severely disappointed.

RM, let OP and Creme know that I'm in my FFXI sessions, and they usually run until about 9. I'm almost done, and I'll shoot Creme a request as soon as I can.

Edit: Creme and I just finished. Once I figure out how to video, I'll try to upload it.
Edit 2: Mk. This should be it. VZPG-WWWW-WWW8-W9AN

As a gentleman, I accept my humiliating defeat at the hands of Verbose. I admit, I'm not a great battler, but hey, I gave what I had, and I will take any and all humiliation you guys send my way. It was a fair match after all, and the only regret I have is that I planned better, but that's my fault.

Don't call it humiliating. The thing about Pokémon is that sweeps happen, and sometimes, it all relies on what the battlers send out first. From there, matchups, gimmicks, items, abilities, movesets, synergy, good decisions, and predictions all come into play.

A pokemon with sweeping buffs (like your Mismagius was certainly threatening me with) will make a close battle look a lot more lopsided than it actually is. I think everyone will see that you made good decisions with Mega Gyarados and all throughout the match. It seems like you saw the High Jump Kick coming. You saw me trying to Stockpile with my Lanturn. You whipped out the Skill Link'd Cinccino, which would have given me grief if I had ran a Moxie'd Gyarados.

You fought well. Don't let scores or videos let you think otherwise. Owens, Muffins, and RM have all run me into the ground more often than I've squeaked out a victory against them.

The scary-cutest Mega Evolution (until Mega Sableye)

Edit: Yeah. I've been playing for well over a year now, but I'm in a closed linkshell with an organized schedule. So it makes some evenings a bit hard for me to be fully attentive.

Ok, I'll update the brackets. Seeing as to how Ann is a no show, We might have to continue without her. Digoxin, are you okay with that? If so, Ann, if you see this,

Thanks for the kind words. I don't usually do well on online battles, only won 5 out of 26 Battle Spot battles, but 20% isn't bad.

How did I not see this thread? If anything like this happens again, I'd be interested!

I'll organize another maybe a few days from now.

But I think maybe it was too late.

Just fight, who cares.

If necessary, the winner of me vs Verbose will surely be interested in taking on your winner. And the winner of that can take on the winner of the other semifinal.

(I'm currently waiting for Verbose to get online so you still have time.)

I'm good with that. Makes for more battles.

My body is ready, but who am I fighting? Agoeb hasn't posted his FC.

You'll fight me then. My FC is on the first page.

RM and I just finished. He won with 3 Pokémon remaining.

Unfortunately, there's no proof of the victory as RM had connection issues. We couldn't record the battle, but I'll admit I was beaten with no question. Well-played, RM.

EDIT: I should add some play-by-play for flavor. (RM, feel free to edit this post or to make your own if I missed something.

  • I led with Mienshao and he led with Charizard.
  • He Mega Evolved into Charizard Y which set Drought into play. I followed with Fake Out which flinched him.
  • I then used High Jump Kick, which sent his HP into the critical range, but he used Air Slash to knock out Mienshao. (RM, 6-5)
  • I sent out Gardevoir and Mega Evolved. He used Fire Pledge to knock me to about 1/3 HP. I used Calm Mind.
  • He then finished Mega Gardevoir off with another Fire Pledge. (RM, 6-4)
  • I sent out Venomoth which he knocked out with another Fire Pledge in one blow. (RM 6-3)
  • I then sent out Lanturn. RM switched to his Ninetales, which had Drought as its ability, rekindling the Harsh Sunlight.
  • Ninetales used Solar Beam which fired on the first turn due to the Sunlight, striking Lanturn, leaving it with about 60% HP. Lanturn used Stockpile and regained a little HP with its equipped Leftovers.
  • Ninetales fired off Solar Beam again, leaving me with about 25% HP. I used Aqua Ring.
  • I switched to Tropius who was hit by Ninetales for minimal damage.
  • I switched back to Lanturn who was hit by Heat Wave for minimal damage, but left Lanturn in the critical range for HP.
  • Ninetails missed with Heat Wave. Lanturn used Aqua Ring.
  • RM withdrew Ninetales and sent out Mega Charizard Y again while Lanturn used Calm Mind.
  • Charizard Y defeated Lanturn on the next turn with Fire Pledge. (RM, 6-2)
  • I sent out Gyarados. Charizard Y used Ancient Power which knocked Gyarados to below half HP. Gyarados used Dragon Dance.
  • Now being faster, Gyarados used Waterfall, knocking out Charizard Y. (RM, 5-2)
  • RandomMan sent out Ninetails to ignite the Harsh Sunlight again.
  • Gyarados used Earthquake, finishing off Ninetales. (RM, 4-2)
  • RandomMan sent out Heliolisk.
  • Gyarados used Earthquake, knocking out Heliolisk (RM, 3-2)
  • RandomMan sent out Venusaur.
  • Gyarados used Ice Fang, which knocked Venusaur to above 50% HP. Venusaur used Solar Beam and knocked out Gyarados. (RM, 3-1)
  • I sent out my last Pokémon in Tropius.
  • Venusaur used Sludge Bomb, which knocked Tropius to near critical range HP. Tropius' Sitrus Berry restored its health to 60% HP. Tropius used Fly.
  • Venusaur used Sunny Day, but sunlight was already in effect. Tropius landed Fly, but with its Black Sludge, Venusaur still had just about 50% HP remaining.
  • Venusaur connected with Sludge Bomb, knocking out Tropius. (RM, 3-1)

That got my blood boiling!
Code: 9JZW-WWWW-WWW7-VKZP
That was downright batshit insane. I was on edge the entire time. The Venusaur was my biggest issue, as I had no clue how to one-shot it, but Khan was just OP as hell I guess. Had him and Salzer since Fire Red y'know.
Suitable music:

Yes! Good fight.

There was a lot of surprises I wasn't ready for. Thunder punch from Charizard? A Fighting type Focus Blast?! Pory could have done so much more damage in that fight.
