Small things that still manage to annoy the crap out of you

Note I mean "small things" like it's ultimately something that doesn't really effect you in any major negative way, but it's still something that bugs the crap out of you anyway.

-People making "wet smacking" sounds with their lips and mouths

I really don't know why, but I can't stand this sound. I think it started because my dad always ate bananas with his mouth open for some reason (it's literally the only food he eats like that, I have no idea why), and the sound of him chewing up a banana with his mouth open drove me crazy. It's not just when people are eating either, some people just end up doing it while talking as a result of something else I'm not sure of. This is actually why I DON'T listen to ASMR videos where the video is a person talking, because almost every single one of these videos I always hear that "wet smack" sound and I can't stand to listen for any more than a few seconds (I stick to ASMR that's just ambient noise). For some reason this is always MORE noticeable when a person is whispering.

Why does something as small as a sound people make with their mouth, usually unintentionally, drive me up the wall? I have no idea, but for some reason any time that sound hits my ears I need to get away from it as I know it'll bug me to no end.

-Having to switch the HDMI cables on the back of the TV

One that's more a result of me wishing for a little extra convenience, and yeah this annoyance is a "first world problem" to the highest degree, but eh it still bugs me anyway. The TV I own only has one HDMI port so this means I keep having to switch the cords for cable, the Wii U, and Xbox 360 constantly. I think the reason why this bugs me so much is because I had to do this very thing with my old CRT TV as well, just with composite cables instead of HDMI (usually switching between the Wii and PS2), so I thought when I got a newer TV this wouldn't be an issue anymore. Nope, new TV, same old annoyance.

  • When people pretend to like things to sound smart.
  • When music in a public place is too loud, especially when it's music I hate.
  • When I'm playing the piano at an event for background music, and people start coming up to me and requesting stupid things. I especially hate it when they request things that are literally unplayable on a piano. I CAN'T FUCKING PLAY RAP MUSIC ON THE PIANO! IT'S NOT FUCKING PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE!
  • When my desk isn't squeaky clean and rid of clutter.
  • Smudges on my glasses
  • Generally any object that isn't completely clean and dirt-free
  • When somebody doesn't close the door fully when they leave my room

● When I see a small item misaligned, I just can't help but try helplessly to fix it.
● Hate when I tear out a page from a notebook and just a tiny fraction of the page stays in the notebook, most of the time I scrap the page.
● If a room is neat, I feel uneasy so I grab a few thinks and put it out of place.
● if someone tells me to move an object they can well do on their own. I dunno, why ask someone else to do your work?

I also hate wet smacks and generally just mouth movements. It depends on my mood though sometimes I don't notice sometimes but usually I do early morning when everything pisses me off in general. Like even if someone's eating something totally reasonably with their mouth closed if it's quiet and I'm irritated I just want to tell them to stop chewing and swallowing or straight up do them physical harm no joke. I never do but it goes through my head plenty. It's especially awful at a dinner table when everyone's chewing and it's quiet if I'm prone to that I want to cut my ears off.

Oh like Lurk I'd also like to add "smudges on my glasses," but also add to it "when the cleaning cloth makes the smudges WORSE." I dunno why, but sometimes my cleaning cloth will manage to only worsen the smudges. Luckily I have multiple cloths for this, but geez why is it one of them almost always worsens the problem?

It really annoys me when people complain to me about shit that is either A) Beyond anyone's control (what good does complaining do?) or B) Could be fixed if they brought it up with someone who isn't me. This thread is kind of an exception though since these are all small things and not legitimate complaints.

To be fair, sometimes people just need to complain to feel a little better.

When people say 'to be fair' or especially 'I'm just sayin.'

My parents say "International House of Pancakes" instead of IHOP for some reason and it renders me inexplicably overcome with rage every single time. I don't fucking understand why they don't just say IHOP. Every time I pick one/both of them up from the airport they say "do you want to go to the International House of Pancakes for brunch" like why, WHY?? I need a xanax just thinking about it.

I've asked them why and they say they don't realize they're doing it and I think that's bullshit.

This hairstyle:

It irks me to no end for no legitimate reason other than I hate buzzed sides with a shaggy topsection.

That moment where suddenly everyone knows your favorite song has just come up in your MP3 player. Once it starts, everyone needs to get much louder, dogs need to start barking, the people around you need your attention, everything around you needs to try and pull your headphones out of your ears, etc. But, you love that song so much, you just can't go with missing those gaps, so you start it over from the beginning, and the cycle repeats until you give up listening to music at all. Then, everything calms down again.

Edit: Bonus points if they get angry at you for 'deciding to listen to music every time they need you.'

Whenever people call the current year "two thousand and fifteen" and not "twenty fifteen"

We don't refer to 1915 as "one thousand nice hundred and fifteen" now do we? So why are we treating every year after 2000 differently? Unnecessary extra syllables that break a standard format

The fact that both the computers I have base the "time remaining" on the total amount of battery left, despite the fact that they always force themselves off before they reach that point. If you're going to have your equipment shut down at fifteen minutes, then why in the hell would you not just cut those minutes out?

Room with only short amount of space/s. I am a sorta clumsy person and when I have the tendency to be out of balance, parts of my body gets knocked by the parts of my wardrobe, drawers, door, storages and others that are all spread out from many rooms, whether on my way or my side. If I'm not hurting myself over those things, I have to adjust my body position to walk through and pass by them. I ain't on some Mission: Impossible movies.

Why not get one of these?

Insults in general, not ones directed at me. Like, any at all. Weird since I get mad pretty easily.

When i am doing my normal things of the day and someone call me to do something in a place later two seconds they call me again.
When people is annoying me asking why i missing the practice of that day when already told them the reason.
When something is out of place in my room.
When my sandals are wet after someone uses it.

This one is gonna make me sound like an asshole.

  • Gender Conversations: People treat it like it's the end of the world that transgender people exist. I mean, it's becoming the hot topic. Jesus fuck, is there any real reason why there's so much controversy behind it?! It just irks me whenever people get angry when it pops up or it just appears in a conversation for no real reason. Simple concept, complicated reasons, no need to worry about it, it's just how some people are, that doesn't make them any less or any more of a person.

    (Non-dickish annoyances)
  • Parents interrupting an online game for stupid reasons (Hey pause the game; what's for dinner tonight? CAN'T THAT WAIT ANOTHER FIVE MINUTES?!)
  • Little kids and their yammering
  • Meaningless/nonsensical shit made serious (A fucking titty string? THAT'S worth a long, thoughtful conversation? Jesus fuck.)
  • When the music doesn't match it's background beat at all (Prime offender #1: RAP MUSIC. Why do you have all this intense or somber music playing while you're "rapping" sounding like a goat with a sore throat about whores and money? This is why I just listen to video game music…)

>chewing with mouth open, regardless of age.
>this one black mark on my door that sometimes looks like a big-ass mosquito.
>that super annoying sound when a bug of any sort (especially mosquito) flies too damn close to my ear.
>every time my fan starts making this noise as it spins faster and the fluorescent light bulb inside keeps banging the metal sides.
