Works of fiction you're (not yet) a fan of, but you know a decent bit about it thanks to being around fans

For me the biggest is Jojo. Yes I know, I have pretty much no excuse for not yet at least watching the anime (first three parts are already done and part 4 just started), though in my defense regarding "the mango," I've heard some parts don't have very good translations yet (I keep hearing that the reason part 5 isn't as liked in the West as it is in Japan is because one of the only English translations available is not very good).

Even so, there's still a decent amount of stuff about Jojo I know about simply through being around fans a lot online, be it the names of some of the protagonists and their Stands, knowing that Stands only became a thing starting with part 3 and that something called "Hamon" was the "main power" in the first two parts, Dio is by far the most popular antagonist of the series and his son is the main character of part 5, the protagonist of part 8 shares a name with the protagonist of part 4 (and part 8's protagonist has "Gappy" as a popular nickname), there's a character named "Funny Valentine" whose Stand name got altered in the English version of one of the Jojo games because the Stand is named after an AC/DC song and the publisher didn't wanna risk getting sued (and Funny Valentine looks like Arin Hanson/Egoraptor sometimes), and so on.

I know all this random information in spite of never seeing or reading Jojo, mostly thanks to "fandom osmosis."

Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, JoJo's bizarre adventure and Neon Genesis Evangelion. I've never seen any of these movies/animes nor read the original books/mangas but I know some character names and references because they make references to them everywhere (specially Star Wars)

Undertale. I honestly only seen shreds of gameplay that should sum up to less than 4 minutes but I already know all of the characters' names. Alphys, Undyne, Sans, Papyrus, Mettaton, Frisk, Asriel, etc. Sans makes puns, Papyrus has a thing for spaghetti, Alphys and Undyne are together or something and Mettaton is the sex bot. I should not know this much but I do

I've heard a lot of Neon Genesis Evangelion, even tho I'm not exactly crazy about it (it is a good show tho). I know most of the characters, Angels, EVA units and some of the events. Also some of the in-jokes.

Monster musume too. I know some of the characters and the concept, but that's it.

I have like minimal knowledge of any Dragon Ball series, but I know some of it. Same with Fire Emblem.

Just from this site. I know a bit about RWBY, MLP, Pokemon, Undertale, FNAF. Though i have no desire to watch or play any of them.

Actually, i know about quite a bit of shit i've never watched or played because of this site. I guess its really informative after all.

Harry Potter (I know several characters and as much lore as like the first 6 movies gave), Lord of the Rings(know the basic story and characters from the movies), Metal Gear (know several memetic characters and quotes, SOME plot elements), Sonic(know several characters and plots, enjoy the music, played a few games to raise Chao), Star Wars(know some characters and plot points, know some races), FNAF…. My gosh is that a lot.

Undertale used to count before my brother got it for me.
