And since it's Citizen Kane I'm obligated to comment on it.

I understand the historical significance of Orson Welles breaking new ground in trying out experimental angles, breaking conventions in film, etc.

But I think the movie is boring as hell to watch and no student should have to be forced to sit through it and be expected to gush about how monumental the film was when they write a report on it. The same goes for Singing in the Rain and everything else Mr. Moran (real name) made us watch in film study.

He once went on a rant about how no films today evoke emotion like these old classics, claiming that no one could relate to The Royal Tennenbaums enough to care about what happens to the characters. I really didn't like that class. It would have been a fun subject with a different teacher.

hmmm. i liked it. it got boring and i was 3/4 asleep. but i made it through the whole movie.
