A game of Audience Alienating Premise

Rules are simple, come up with a premise you think would not be received positively. The poster after you has to come up with a niche audience for your premise along with coming up with a alienating premise of their own.

I'll start

Paid DLC for Super Mario Odyssey that has Mario and Cappy explore Springfield from the Simpsons, Bikini Bottom from Spongebob Squarepants, Bedrock from the Flintstones, and Musutafu from My Hero Academia when people were expecting to get Isle Delfino.

I dunno, those youtubers who make cursed mod compilations would probably have a field day with that treating it as an official cursed mod.

Now, something that would turn a lot of people off? Wild Wild West 2. Yes, a sequel to the one with Will Smith. Except he's been replaced with Larry the Cable Guy, and there are aliens because aliens. Let's not forget the requisite mumble rap/generic orchestra soundtrack, either!

Middle school suburban wannabe wiggers would watch it unironically and probably even quote it thinking they're "ghetto", because in middle school, everything even remotely risque and topical is "cool."

Now, something truly alienating would be a lost Ed, Edd, n' Eddy episode where the Eds get caught in the warp and transported to Boku no Pico, but retain their animation style, except now everything is being animated at precisely 42 frames per second as some sort of round-a-bout Hitchhikers reference. Also, the cow from Kung-Pow is in every scene for some reason.

Uh…I guess degenerates who are also Ed, Edd and Eddy fans and lost media collectors who are sick curious people.

A Kirby game but Kirby has lost the ability to suck and fly and instead shoots with a gun and causes a bloody massacre. Also the final boss is a Mafia gang leader. And the true final boss is a mass of undead corpses in shape of a floating ball…that also shoots with a gun.

Stereotypical edgy 13-year-olds and people that enjoyed Shadow The Hedgehog, myself included.

A game that bricks your console upon installing it on your system, but also through HDMI digital witchcraft implants a virus on your TV/Display that makes it brick any replacement consoles you plug into it as well as any other devices connected to it through digital standards. And if you bought it through Steam, it frames you for hacking on multiplayer servers and gets your account suspended or possibly even permanently banned.

Okay, this is one I'd honestly find hilarious, especially if Rockstar tried to do a whole thing about "returning to GTA's roots" since the original two games were top-down action games. People into that style of game would be pretty interested, I feel.

A Mario Bros. game, but with the artstyle and gameplay of a generic AAA third-person shooter and with more predatory microtransactions crammed into it than "tomboy™" images on KnowYourMeme. Oh, and you need Nintendo Switch Online to even play the game, can't forget those always-online requirements.

Luigi is paid DLC.

That sounds like one hell of a disaster for Mario that people wonder if EA or Activision was at the helm with all those microtransactions.

Half-Life 3 but it is so heavily scripted and linear that the way to the end is so obvious compared to Half-Life 2 and all the COD games. Gordon can talk and he sounds nothing like a university trained physicist. Alyx Vance is now unironically looking like a blow up doll straight from the cinematic mod for Half-Life 2. Gordon makes all sorts of responses to the things he's told, G-Man becomes more obviously evil and willing to abuse whatever reality bending powers that Gordon's adventures go from saving Earth from the Combine to being in an alternate Earth where he fights vicious Russian soldiers attacking a Syrian village to another alternate Earth where Gordon fires upon a rioting crowd of protestors to being in a world akin to a kiddy show where Gordon must do a QTE dance session with Barney rip offs and totally-not-violating IP knockoffs of the Teletubbies. In the end, Gordon rips of the head of the Combine advisor and Earth is saved as Gordon pulls off a pose with Alyx that rips off Duke Nukem.

I think I played that mod, it was a trip-in-a-half. Could do without the /pol/ memes and racism, though.

How about Sam & Max meet The Thing, but it's played completely serious with none of the comedy S&M is known for, The Thing sings show tunes the entire film, kills and spreads like it did in that crappy comic book, while in the background, a homeless crackhead spoony screams about infected mountain goats.

I guess some fans appreciate the effort to do a serious Sam and Max story but most dismiss the idea as dumb.

A My Hero Academia game made by Nintendo

  • It takes place in an alternate universe inspired by Sonic SatAM where All for One is the dictator of Japan. It focuses on Izuku, Ochako, Tenya, Shouto, Kendo, Shinsou, Mei, and Himiko as they're part of a resistance aiming to end All for One's reign.
  • Soundtrack takes influence from the OST Sonic 3D Blast's Saturn port
  • The gameplay could be described as a successor to Wario World on the Gamecube.
  • To emphasize the alternate universe nature of the game, the English dub has different voice actors for various characters with DLC that has the characters from the main universe appear with their voice actors reprise their roles.
** Aleks Le (Zenitsu and Akira Howard) voices Izuku

** Erica Mendez (Ryuko, Akko, Gon) voices Ochako

** Xander Mobus (Smash announcer, Joker/Ren Amamiya, The Conductor) voices Tenya.

** Erica Lindbeck (Futaba Sakura, Celica, Ashley, Miriam, Roll) voices Mei

** Ron Perlman (Slade, Hellboy, The Lich, Justice) voices All for One.
  • A post credits scene sets up Invader Zim of all characters to appear in a sequel

A battlefield game that takes place in WWII again, with no connection to BF1942 or 1943. Ensure a pay2win scheme were extremely powerful meta-dominating weapons are put behind DLC paywalls. Neuter the support class. Imbalance vehicles. Take WWII setting and insert katanas cyborgs, and mohawks. Make Assault class OP (again). Ship before product is finished and polished and promise to fix it in a series of post-release patches, along with a lackluster battle royal mode that doesn't come on release as promised.

oh wait.

You're supposed to come up with a niche audience for the post before yours and then you come up with a premise you don't think would be received well.

The game is popular with the very few who could stomach the ridiculousness of the whole game.

A crossover between Archie Sonic, Persona 5, RWBY, My Hero Academia, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Assassination Classroom, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Fire Force, Crash Bandicoot, Kirby, and Sonic the Comic. Where the Sonic’s of two different continuities meet up and are forced to team up with various characters to fight a new threat that aims to reset the universe in their own image.

A crossover between (all that shit)

The game would be popular with the audiences of Kingdom Hearts and Sonic fandom, but the developers never finished it before the studio went under. A copy leaked online and was finished by the Sonic fandom who slapped on an ending and filled the whole game with porn, and they got rich on itch.io.

Among Butts – A cooperative game where spacemen in spacesuits perform colonoscopies on giant aliens, but one of the spacemen is an asshole.

A game where the MC is Karen, and she's trying to assassinate Obama because he banned speaking to the manager and she has a magical ability that is literally Bird Up but instead of a bird it's Ralsei's hat but with Barry B. Benson's face, Shaggy's voice and Shrek's ears. And the whole game normalizes dug abuse, racism and violence and Karen is a furry and her fursona is Sans. In addition, there are like 1000 fetch quests, and the antagonist is Peppa Pig with Dio's face who's actually an Irken possessed by Skeletor. In addition, the DLC is $50, and it gives you multiplayer access and some cosmetics. The multiplayer mode is unbalanced and practically the definition of pay2win. And the music is all Justin Beiber songs and earrapes of meme songs.

Now this would be some shit that the cr1tikal viewer audience would eat up out of sheer revulsion and watch him speedrun. I fucking love toilet games like this.

A generic drama-focused dating sim visual novel involving Japanese schoolgirls that, all of a sudden halfway through the game with no foreshadowing or other hints, turns into a spiritual successor to Duke Nukem 3D in gameplay and writing, that also happens to be an Xbox One X and Epic Games Store timed exclusive.

Dude, the boomer shooter market was dry for so long prior to 2016, that players would suffer through the first half JUST for the second half.

Try a resident evil style survival horror game staring the entire cast of Jersey Shore, the BBEG is a Cthulhu-mouthed Undyne, all the puzzles are Sierra-tier moon logic puzzles that don't hesitate to kill you, the normal enemies are the crew from Stupid Invaders, and the main character is Tim Allen, except he's a drug dealing pimp that speaks exclusively in esoteric grunts.

I would play that for the comedy value.
Here's another proposition: A game where you play as Don, and you try to kill infinite clones of Chris-Chan using a Zip 22 with MatPat's face on it. The final boss is an Amalgamate of Joel and Monika that constantly spams the chat with the first paragraph of the Bee Movie script. One of the minibosses is a Pootis Bird with John Freeman's face that attacks by throwing exploding joints at you. Another is the Devil's Machine, which only has 1 hp, however it's guarded by 9001 clones of Dr. Cortex, and even if you kill all of them, the Devil's Machine will constantly dodge your attacks while beam spamming and taunting you in a stupid font. In addition, the game runs at approximately 18 fps and the devs will ban you forever for making or downloading mods. And if that's not all, a major plot point is taking LSD. In addition, in one part of the game you have to be vaccinated, however if you are, you get autism. Not to mention, one of the story quests is torturing and killing Harambe, and a side quest is paying $1000000 to fund a church dedicated to Trump.
