From what I understand, it's actually impossible for them to update the console version.
The first reason being that the game runs off of a disc in the console version. So unless they want to send out a whole bunch of new copies to every user after every update, there won't be an update for the 360.
Second reason, I think I've heard that the unupdated version already maxes out the 360's hardware capabilities.

The 360 can't run the updates because it doesn't support many of the pc's visual enhancements. 360 games have to choose between detail and antialaising. TF2 requires both to not look like crap when you play it.

I heard it was for slightly different reasons. The first bit was right, but to add to it, the updates couldn't save to the disc, they could only save to the console's hardrive, which it would never have enough space for.

Secondly, Microsoft and Sony want to make people pay for updates. Vlave wants to give them out for free.

And for your last point, that's probably true as well

TL;DR no console updates, P.C rules for TF2. Maybe Mac as well, but I've never used one.

I installed tf2 on my mac while I was still looking for a good gaming pc and it just didn't run well. The general issue with macs is that they can usually only run minimal graphics and they can rarely support consistent sound while you are playing due to the volume of sound files being used at a single time.

tl;dr: macs are firewood

The orange box is kick ass if you dont own any of the games already, but you main problem here is the 360, why bother even buying the damn thing if its just gonna break in a year.

I got orange box on 360, completed hl2, hl2 episode 1. (still busy with 2) Played Portal for a while, and played tf2 online, and then when i saw how few things there are, i wanted it for the PC immediately. Oh and which class, meh dunno, scout was atleast my favorite, heavy too and engineer. But all classes have their pro's and con's.

If TF2 is your first online FPS, a good starting class is the medic. Hell, you don't even need to be accurate as this guy, and he's still extremely useful.

After that, i'd say soldier. Loads of health, and carriers a massive rocket launcher with a large splash damage. Their a backbone unit as well, great for suppression.

Probably heavy next. Biggest, slowest, and strongest. Your a big target, but with a medic, you're effectively a tank.

Then scout, fast, agile and it's fun running up to poeple in the middle of a crossfire and slapping them silly with a wet fish.

DInnally, try some of the other classes, most of which take a little more skill, practice and knowledge.
