It was originally going to be cerulean or forest green, then I remembered I was using MS Paint and I didn't want my Flag to look like crap because of heavy brushwork.

@DarkErmac
Huh, I never noticed that. The flag is actually based on the White Star Line's emblem, just with blue instead of red.

Um as a note to Syndic, I know I've asked for the importation of at least artillery or am I seriously using Cannons on Dreadnaughts? And I could a sworn I would gotten some sorta air force and tanks from someone back in the HAZE days. Just yell at me if I'm wrong

So I was studying the map out of boredom, and noticed something interesting. Every player-named country, except for Hephaestus and Giozzario, ends in an "a". Bythi a , Borgi a , Tit a , Medice a , Equestri a , Sweetieopi a , Yude a , even Lakot a Hmmm… Just thought I'd point that out!

How did my previous colonies slip into communism after revolting over religious matters! Damn them sly buggers!

However, after the post war rebuilding turn. I think Deisa will be trying to reclaim Sri Lanka and Cambodia.

What is the view of the world in these matters?

Regards,
Deisa

I'll just leave this here.

.

What program do you use to make these flags?

I personally use Paint.Net, although most of the flags put up in the turns are made by the players, not me. I don't know what programs they use.

You may have Sri Lanka, but trying to reclaim Cambodia would damage relations with the Red Friends.
.
For my flag, I use some MS paint knockoff for Mac…

Very well, Cambodia might escape the noose… this time!

Just for the record, What happened to Moses anyway? Didn't he appear in this RP this turn? I'm sure I remember reading a post about how Moses appeared… might of been a dream though…

Unveiling the new Deisan Flag.

And national motto:
Simul coniunguntur. Nos autem fortes

The Eagle is also adopted as the nation's animal!

I always find that in these games religion lasts as a significant driving force long after it actually died down IRL. Imagine if the first world war was actually a catholic crusade against the protestant German people.
.
Anyway, taking that into consideration, it only makes sense that most of the communist states are also religiously bound; besides Giozzario, which is attempting secularization.

Last edited Jul 26, 2011 at 12:30PM EDT

It does make a lot of sense, especially since most of these new religious communist states are mostly previously held Deisan regions and they would join Giozzario seeing as though they too broke from the Zculian religion, giving them a 'father' per say.

Shame Yudea joined the Red Friends nations, that would of been a fun land grab from pretty much everyone on the board I should imagine.

Seeing as the edit on the post above the post above didn't really work.

What happened to Moses? I'm sure I read about him in this nation RP like ten turns ago or something, or it could of been a dream…

As clarification, Giozzario is not persecuting Zçùlans. It is merely giving more religious freedom by secularizing the government . Giozzi Catholic Zçùlanists are still a very heavy majority of the population. Most of them are Communist as well.

Just because it isn't player controlled doesn't mean that it will be easy to conquer.
.
And I do remember mentioning Moses. I believe that was one of Vulcan's religious moves back in the iron age or something. He's probably dead, since it's been about three to six thousand years since then.

Indeed, this is true. Especially in the modern age it is difficult to remove a religion in such a short time span, and I doubt much will change in a religious aspect for the rest of the game. I would start focusing on political systems and physical expansion than crusades and conversion. But that's just me.

True, Yudea has been a stubborn nation in the past, I blame who ever supplied them with arms Shifts eyes

Poor Moses :(

Yeah during these times, religion has become strongly rooted, it would be nigh impossible to convert other religions to your cause compared to ten or so turns ago.

But it's still a good way of control for those whom are religiously devout to X named religion. ;D
Rebuild and expand. Sri Lanka… I've got my eyes on you… for the third time.

Yeah, my religion has definitely been the most influential one on the game, but I agree, I will now be focusing on mostly non- religious aspects of Giozzi culture, expansion, and politics.
But before I completely enter this period of separation of church and state, I think I shall summarize Zçùlanism for everyone out there, since it's contributed so much to world history.
.
Zçùlanism started out as a cult in ancient Giozzo; the worship of the hermaphroditic diety Zçùla, who preached equality of gender and race. Initially, heathens were more pitied than hated. The oldest holy scripture, the Eqzù, was early written in the bronze age on leather books, in an early form of the Euçãìo language. Temples, known as ovi, or singular, an ovo, were soon built afterword. Quickly, this cult grew to be the most prominent faith in the region, out popularizing the polytheistic faiths in the area.
.
At the same time, the position of Rivãlsò, the oldest member of the land, was consolidating power, and growing to a monarch status. Eventually, Rivãlsò Giusèppu, a zealot Zçùlanist, proclaimed it to be the the State Religion in about 100 BCE. Using his power and the religion to his advantage, he told the masses of godly revelations, and titled himself Messenger of Zçùla, confirming his leadership of both the Kingdom of Giozzario, and papal leader of the Zçùlan faith. He also radically changed the Rivãlsò system. To ensure that only devout Zçùlanists could attain the position, it was no longer the eldest member who was named Rivãlsò, but it was voted on by the high priests when the last one died. For thousands of years, Giozzario has been ruled with an iron fist under the all mighty Rivãlsì, most of whom built grand tombs to rival their ancestors, much like the Egyptian pyramids.
.
During the entry into the colonial and middle ages, followers of Zçùla became much more radical, fueling the conquests into the new world and the fervor to convert the locals and foreigners. Zçùlanism became much less tolerant, despite the oldest scriptures preaching just the opposite. Protestant sects arose, to the dismay of the Rivãlsò, but they were treated much better than non Zçùlans at all. During this period, the Holy Alliance of Zçùlan Empires, or HAZE, was formed as a defensive pact for devout nations under Zçùla. More and more, the war hawks influenced foreign affairs.
.
Once Rivãlsò Anòro was voted into the holy and omnipotent power of papal monarch, things took a turn for the worse, for everybody. Anòro was very radical. He preached heathens were the cause of problems in the world, and set up concentration camps abroad. He made many nationalistic changes to Giozzario, began the invasions, and set off the Great War of Zçùla. As the war seemed to climax at the unpredicted and shocking invasion by Medicea, Anòro was cornered in the capitol in Spain. He committed suicide by hanging before the Mediceans got to him. In the midst of all the chaos, the Socialist Underground saw their opportunity, and seized the Moroccan city, as the only one not occupied by foreigners.
.
They were generally well received, as public approval of Anòro plummeted to zero in the loss of the war. The Socialists liberated all concentration camps, made peace deals to end the war, withdrew from HAZE, wrote a constitution, freed the slaves (or at least the few left), and created the People's Republic of Giozzario, a new secular government, after 4000+ years of theocratic rule by a monarch. They have also lead the new alliance of красный друзья, or Red Friends, the Comintern pact of communist nations on the globe. To be continued.
From Fakepedia, the fake encylopedia .
.
Yep. Zçùlan and Giozzi History 101. That's probably TL;DR for most of you, but I'm bored, so I wrote it anyways. I might just have to write a short novella based on this whole game.

I like it, I like it a lot.

I wanted to write about Deisa, but I didn't create it.
So next game I'm going to make my own nation, it's own heritage and then write everything I can about it.

If Syndic approves, next game, I'd like to write about the cities, internal affairs and what not using the forum and leave the technology and the rest to PMs.

That was interesting. I like how you put some depth into that. Also, I'm comparing Rivãlsò Anòro to Adolph Hitler, if that was what you were wanting us to compare him to.

I should also put an Celestianism history 101. XD

While it was an interesting read, Nick, could you possibly break things like that up into paragraphs? Preferably paragraphs separated by a full stop,
.
like that. Makes it easier to read when it's broken down like so.
.
Also, Vardamir, yes that is a good idea. Kinda the point of a "roleplay" game if you ask me is getting into the character of your nation and building its culture apart from the game's actual rules (without outright breaking the rules or contradicting the turns, of course).

Yeah, I want to start posting 'Roleplaying turns'

Like after you announce what happens in a turn, I'll take the basic points and explain how it happened in the city.
For example an invasion of X named country, I'll create a few paragraphs from an officer or soldier's perspective of the battle(s)/wars.
The same goes towards religious figures etc…etc…

Just little things like that, it sometimes creates a massive wall of text but it's jolly good fun to write up.

I'm not a fan of walls of texts either, so I've broken it up into paragraphs. When I was writing it, I just wasn't sure when to create a new paragraph due to the flow of ideas, but I tried to break it up my best.
.
I also like vardamir's idea of "roleplay turns", and I think I'll steal borrow it. It adds life to the forum, and adds depth to the game. I've already done some posts with the same general idea, such as in my capitulation post.
.
And yes, Derpy, Anòro is almost completely based off of Hitler, with the whole zealot religious element added to the mix of craziness.

I also have a feeling that if we roleplay our turns after the turn's events are announced by Syndic. He'd be willing to extend limits to indefinitely! Dun dun dunnn!

It just sucks having a pre built nation to control, I'm slowly trying to turn it into what I want, but that's going to take turns upon turns.

Or until we all get nuked. >=(

Time to get to work on a missile shield for Africa…

You know, the former owner of Deisa never went into much depth with it, so I'm sure you could add quite a bit without making much contradictions. The Deisanism religion was never explained, so you could do what you want with that, and the culture in general.

Hmmm, that is an interesting point.

But with only three or so turns left. I think I'll just start creating something for the next nation and game, if Syndic accepts me into the next game.

However, I'll start implementing small role-play posts after the turn is announced starting with the next turn.

Which is why RussianFedora was able to end the world with such little effort in round one. But now we're all going to have an arms race to be the first to create a Tsar bomb xD

Origin of Deisanism:

Deisanism was created by the ancient people of Deisa who settled on the shore of the Red Sea thousands of years ago. This religion was very similar to Judaism; a monotheistic belief where everything in nature was created/influenced by one God. This religion was able to catch on because of Deisa's early rise to power in the northeastern African region. As a result, the inferior nation of Hyrule was converted in the earliest known record of a nation converting to another nation's faith. Shortly afterwards, the two nations formed the very first trade route between settlements.
-
Once Hyrule disappeared underneath the Great Wave, the Deisan people mourned the loss of their closest allies. They began expanding outwards, attempting to find another nation to replace Hyrule as their main ally. Shortly afterwards, the original controller of Deisa (me) was kicked from the game, and the new controller was very quick to discard this ancient religion in favor of Zculanism. Thus ended the era of Deisanism.

Recognize that your faith has the second most followers on the face of the planet and that Vardamir did not convert to Zculanism. Joining a holy alliance does not equate to conversion.

Oh. I thought I remembered hearing something about the Deisan preists being executed after Deisa joined the alliance, in order to help the conversion to Zculanism. My bad.

Also, it's not my faith anymore, due to being in control of Lakota, with their Salakanism. I believe Salakanism is the smallest religion in the current world, yes?

Last edited Jul 26, 2011 at 11:17PM EDT

Yeah, what Syndic said. He changed the state religion to Zçùlanism, and killed some high priests to appease HAZE's bullying, but the citizens didn't really convert.

Oh, that clears it up. So then it's like how the former leaders of Lakota converted to Zculanism in an attempt to cease the attacks before being quckly offed by the enraged Lakotan people.

Last edited Jul 26, 2011 at 11:18PM EDT

As far as Salakanism being the smallest religion, I'd say that's accurate. You have a low population, with some being Zçùlanists I'm sure, so compared to Deisanism, Zçùlanism, Sun Worship, Bronyism, Petrichism, Yudeanism or Celestianism, it can't be very big. Syndic, do you think you could update the religion spread and population density maps?
.
EDIT: I'm going to take this opportunity to explain how "Zçùla" is pronounced, since I haven't before, and you might all be pronouncing it wrong. It's pronounced ZOO- LA, with emphasis on the first sylablle. Just in case you didn't know…

Last edited Jul 26, 2011 at 11:25PM EDT

Really? i was pronouncing it ZUH-KOO-LAH with the 'uh' part being minimized into almost invisibility. Also, I was just working on such a map, and here it is.
.

Last edited Jul 26, 2011 at 11:51PM EDT

Thanks! Obviously the crusades didn't spread Zçùlanism as much as originally planned, but I'm happy with it being this big.
.
And yeah, the "Ç", or C with the cedilla accent mark, is always soft like an "S", so when paired with the Z, it becomes silent. I first named it Zula, but changed it to Zçùla to make it look cooler without changing the pronunciation. The letter is used mostly in French (Français [french], Garçon [boy]), and Portuguese (Coração [heart])
.
While we're on the subject of pronouncing words that I made up, "ã", or the tilded A, is like a very nasally schwa. Rivãlsò is pronounced REE- VOOL- SO, with the emphasis on the last syllable.

Last edited Jul 27, 2011 at 12:28AM EDT

Poor Deisa getting bullied.

I'm working up a doctrine for the Deisan Defence Force, though I'll most probably implement it for the next game under a new national name. Damn Dark Emac for explaining Deisan religion, there goes 3,000+ words on the fundamentals of Deisan religion. :P

And still, an atomic bomb over Deisa would be devastating seeing as we are now the smallest nation I believe. From almost super power status to being that nasty looking dog in your neighbours garden.

At least I have some kind of pony and a troll as allies.
God bless Sweetieopia and Tita.

Last edited Jul 27, 2011 at 12:50PM EDT

@Vardamir… Sorry about the prewar bullying onto our side… And you're not really "that nasty looking dog in your neighbour's garden". You don't have much land, but you're still have an industrial and economic importance. Think of it like this: While Russia and the USA [IRL] are huge big superpowers, it doesn't make the German economy and existence something to laugh at.
.
@Syndic… The post after Sweetie Belle's Nuclear Bomb chart. (Sorry, I don't know how to quote multiple posts or part of a post)

bq. hey this is a quote

hey this is a quote

Remember to put a blank line beneath each block quote or it wont work.
.
And that is not 3k words. Not even 300.

Like this?

And I know, but he got the basic beliefs down, so it limits what Vardamir can create on his own.

Last edited Jul 27, 2011 at 02:53PM EDT

Yeah, I got the idea from Buio, just going to call you that from now on :P, I started writing little bits of Deisan history, religion and just general information about it.

I can still post it if you want, well a newly begun edited version that I've started to form the basis of another nation I intend to build up next game.

The whole Hyrule being allies, being swallowed by the sea etc..etc just discredits everything I built/made for it. Deisa was a ferociously independent and patriotic nation in my writing piece.
And just generally that Deisan basics that Dark Emac made makes Deisa feel like a bit of a kitty cat, mourning losses etc..etc.. not my cup of tea :P

But It's going to be nice for the next game, I assure you that. I spend about an hour or two a day, at least, just writing random short stories about random things. The joys of being a student during the summer holidays with nothing to do :P

But, like I've said, I'm going to begin writing little short stories on here from the next posted turn onwards. I've got a lot of material written up based on fascist rallies after watching the Nazi Propaganda; Triumph of Will. In advance I apologise if this insults anyone.

In fact, I'm going to create little RP post now involving a speech from the Deisan Fascist leader. Let's see how this pans out. ^^

There's going to be two Hitlers in the course of this game? I feel sorry for our hypothetical citizens in this world. Us commies will be watching you carefully.
.
Also, "Principe del Buio" means "Prince of the Dark" in Italiano, so calling me Buio is calling me Dark. Just call me Principe (Prreen- chee- peh). When I first joined KYM, I didn't realize that your Real Name is also your Screen Name, so you might all know my real name is Nick, and you may also call me that, but Principe Del Buio is what I use for many of my Screen Names.

It was a dark cloudless night in the city of Deisanark, the capital of Deisa. The streets were mainly empty apart from the odd automobile or the odd patrol from the Deisan Defence Force. However, the central plateau of Deisanark was buzzing with activity. A large podium reaching twenty or so feet high stood at the foot of the Deisan Palace, the heart of the Fascist leader. The podium was adorned with large flags draping over it, soldiers in ornate ceremonial armour surrounded the base of the podium and stood like statues, ever vigilant.

The plateau itself was a large marble based open feature. There was a road circling around the marble flooring which was a well maintained road, however on this night it was closed, checkpoints into the Central Plateau monitored crowds coming into and out of the Deisan Rally. Armoured vehicles lay dormant as the soldiers around checked the identity of any suspicious folk.

The people awaited the rally, idly talking among themselves. Large spotlights were set up on the edge of the marble flooring, all pointed at the podium. Some of them didn't care much for the Fascist dictator of Deisa and had merely come along for the sake of seeing what the leader had to say about the surrendering of their territory and the war.

An officer of the Deisan Defence Force climbed the steps leading to the top of podium, placing a large golden eagle standard next to the series of microphones that incircled the top of the podium. He then left the podium, his march impeccable, highly practised and precise.

The Lord Commander of Deisa left the Deisan Palace, surrounded by his elite Deisan Guards who wore long black uniforms with matching peak caps. Each one of them had a rifle slung around their shoulder, they marched next to the Lord Commander in precise timing. When the Lord Commander reached the foot of the podium's stairs they stopped, coming to attention. The turned to face the Lord Commander who now faced the direction they had walked from; as soon as he had done this, the Deisan Guard retinue saluted in unison, they waited for the return salute from the Lord Commander before standing back to attention. The Lord Commander began climbing the steps as his retinue now faced outwards, rather than inwards. Each one at attention.

The Lord Commander reached the top of the podium and stopped. He looked out to the civilians and soldiers who had gathered for the rally. Silence fell like a drape as each one of them felt the eyes of the Lord Commander burn into them, as if he was looking into their souls.

"For Deisa!" His assembled soldiers saluted and shouted in unison, along with several scores of civilians who were loyal to Deisa no matter the religion they formally adopted.

The Lord Commander returned the salute and cleared his throat.

"My people. It is with great regret that I tell you that the might of Deisa has been held, stopped and pushed back. We have formally surrendered the war to the Sweetiebellion and in doing so we have lost what we used to be" He began, his voice full of sincerity and maybe a hint of regret.

"BUT! Nothing has changed! We still remain the nation that we were a thousand years ago and more! We must stand strong united! We must rise up as a nation and show the world that Deisa is still as strong as other nations in this world! We must put on a united front and rebuild what was lost! We must unite our thoughts and suppress those that seek to do us harm! The rebellions abroad are some of things that can happen to us if we do not remain vigilant and united! The impureness of those to the East who withdraw from our glorious nation will happen here if we do not remain aware of our problems! If we are not united then we are broken! The war with the rest of this continent was needed to secure our place in history! It is the impure religion of Zçùlanism that destroyed us! These impure people will be banished from our lands and if they refuse then they will be imprisoned! We are Deisans and we will remain Deisans till the end!" The Lord Commander roared into the microphones, his fists clenched along with several arm movements.

"We are now allies with the nations that seek to end this tyranny of Africa. We will stand united with them and we will defend our nation! We will no longer join needless wars or inflict unneeded casualties upon our populace. However! We must show the world that we are not crippled from the war, and at this point it is with pride that I vouch we will reclaim Sri Lanka from the traitors that hold it now. They will fear as our armies invade and take what is rightfully ours!"

"Stand Vigilant my people! Simul coniunguntur. Nos autem fortes ((Translation: At the same time united. We are strong))"

The Lord Commander saluted, his salute was met with a roar of appraisel from his many fans, his soldiers came to attention again and saluted, maintaining the salute as the Lord Commander made his way down the stairs, he Deisan Guard saluted, as they fell in behind him as he passed each flanking soldier, until they marched behind him in files of two, marching into the large open doors of the Deisan Palace.

The Soldiers outside had unslung their rifles, urging people to return home and generally away from the Central Plateau. Checkpoints filtered the groups out in groups as to avoid congestion in the streets.

The night grew quiet once again in Deisanark.

(( Just a ten minute piece, nothing special. But this is what I'll be doing each turn and at random. Not always rallies but could be about a group of people at a local Public house, a new recruit during training or political discussions in closed doors.
Of course this will be on top of any other important things, for example inventions might have a special little piece about them. Hope you don't mind ;D ))

Looking at the map now, I'm amazed we all started out as tiny colored dots scrambling to be the first to develop language and spears. Now we're all massive Empires trying to prevent major wars and develop nuclear weapons.

It is the impure religion of Zçùlanism that destroyed us! These impure people will be banished from our lands and if they refuse then they will be imprisoned!

I see how it is. If I was still a theocracy, that statement would have sent our nations to war. But religion is losing my attention to other matters. I just ask that you ship them to Giozzario, where they won't be imprisoned for their beliefs, instead of punishing them. Also, you claim to be an ally of the Sweetiebellion, but let me remind you that they are tolerant , and completely against religious persecution, if I remember correctly.
.
But other than that, I'd say you're a great writer and storyteller. Very interesting and well written.
