<<<<---About: Chargeman Ken!--→>>>

well,
i studied more about Chargeman Ken and here are the results:
Chargeman Ken was an anime in the end of the 70's about Ken, a young boy that tranform through "charging" himself. he cahnges and then saves the day.
it was aired on a kid's TV on saturday.
i am not sure about the charecters;
there is a girl who cries all the time becuase Ken is annoying her.
there is a weird duck who looks like a combination of a ball and a duck…O____O
there are more cahrecters but i need to study them….(i cant right now becuz i dont know japanese).
the episode that is taken as source the most is episode 25,"Dynamite in the Brain".
in that episode, Ken and he's weird duck are meeting a doctor who gets kidnapped by aliens
and so Ken rescues him.
this anime is a such a big meme becuz of it's EXTREMELY FAST storyline development.
the story develops so quick that it is almost funny.

Sorry. It's been one week since i've not contribute here :/
Besides relevant tags to your interest, I don't know what I can find else :

チャー研mad : This tag is related to all MADs for Chargeman Ken !
チャージマン研! : This one is used for anything related to the serie, so there'll be MADs but also anything related to Chargeman Ken beyond that.

It's strange, i've seen a english translated page on NND encyclopedia. This should be a MUST SEE for you :)
http://dic.nicovideo.jp/a/chargeman%20ken!

ow thanks alot =D.
AND:
i have a big requesst,
can someone give a tag for NND Medlays MADs?
like, i never found an Airmoto Nanairo or Ryuuseigun before…
so, if you can find a tag for Medlays MADs it would be HAW-SOME seriously…
---------------------------------------

+edited the Airmoto entry:cleanup some space, more info about other charecters.
+made an entry about Ken:
https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/chargman-ken

about the article, if you can help, ill put you in the editor's list ^^

Huh, according to google translate, this is "Medley series Nikoniko" : ニコニコメドレーシリーズ

But I don't know if you'll find what you seek by combining this with other tags. It seems that most of the medleys are referred by their names or some reductions/acronyms.

Try finding the correct name in the list on Wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kumikyoku_Nico_Nico_Douga
… and another tag.

For example : The tag for 組曲『ニコニコ動画』 (Kumikyoku Nico Nico Douga) with the tag 必須アモト酸 (Hissu amoto san)
… gives you this URL : http://www.nicovideo.jp/tag/組曲『ニコニコ動画』 必須アモト酸
(note : the tags are separated with a simple space)

You should find there some interesting videos that combines the two tags :)

EDIT : No need to thank me in your article ^^. You can do so in your comments or in this topic. I'm also thankful to you to make this entry, since i've seen Chargeman Ken quite a few times, but wasn't motivated enough to do it (instead of other entries, and i've still not finished rewriting Hissu amoto san :| ).

> Charge man Ken

- Why it's so strange ?

It was made in ultra low budget. Therefore, their moving are few and their episodes are quite strange.

- history
This strange and epic episodes had been popular among small group of animation mania for a long time.

However, "Charge man Ken" hasn't been released on Video or DVD and hasn't been replayed on the air for a long time.

Therefore, "Charge man Ken" had been a very rare animation and almost all Japanese hadn't known about him.

Ken's DVD-BOX including full episodes was released in Feb and Mar, 2007 at first.

And because some rude guy reproduced all of them on NND around the summer of 2007, many people had noticed at last how epic "Charge man Ken" was.

The oldest MAD movie was posted on Aug 8, 2007.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm860418

The most notable MAD movie is "Charge Zone". It was posted on NND on Apr 25, 2009. After this movie became big hit, many followers were born and "Charge man Ken" finally became a meme.

http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm6850321
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACKKHjTYygw

- Collaboration movie

MAD's players sometimes collaborate to make video. these videos are called "合作(gassaku, collaboration)".
An existence of collaboration MAD is an index of meme's popularity.

Of course, "Charge man" ken has that.
It was posted on NND on Oct 24, 2009.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8601417
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_FQkRyQR-s

And New collaboration MAD is now being made. It will be completed around Apr, 2010.

-謎の美少年 (nazo no bishounen)

This is "mysterious beautiful boy" in English. And this boy's name is "星君(hoshi-kun)".

He is a Jural. He disguised to human and contacted Ken to research Ken's weak point.

Because of his funny, strange shouts (they are heard "ウェイ" and "エ゛エーイ" in Japanese) and his gay-like acting, he is being used in many mad videos.

- some notable dialogs

…チャージング ゴー! (Charging Go!) by Ken
…よくもこんなキチガイレコードを! (yokumo konna kichigai recodo o!, How dare you gave such a "kichigai" record (to me)!) by Ken
…これから毎日家を焼こうぜ! (korekara mainichi ie o yakouze, Let's burn houses everyday in future, man!) by Jural
…殺してやる! (korosite yaru!, I'll kill you!) by Caron (She is only 7 years old.)
…ボルガ博士 お許し下さい! (boruga hakase oyurushi kudasai!, Dr. Bolga, (Please) forgive me!)

If you know these dialogs , "Charge man Ken" will be more enjoyable for you.

mona, OMG i am such a noob sahme, please help me edit my article! ><
https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/chargman-ken
i am sorry that i ask for help from you guys, but….PLEASE HELP ME!tears

I'm going to check what I can approve tonight, as long as the awaited update for Masami Hisamoto entry, for adding AIRSOKO, to the happy team of Hisamoto :)

EDIT : Any tips on what should be improved ?

Last edited Mar 18, 2010 at 11:14AM EDT

ummm…
i think….the grammer….

ow and guys, as part of my "AIrMAD" campaign, i need you to provide links for ALL POSSIBLE AIRMOTO SOURCES.
you heard right, i need all of the airmoto source videos.
i will upload them to YouTube and send them to a freind of mine who makes realy good MADs.
he will make original YT AirMADs and YT will finnaly have AirMADs in it's meme list ^^

What?

You are being pointed about your plagiarism. You should remove what you plagiarized from the entry ASAP, should you?

A help by us is of secondary importance.

Anyway, I've added resources link.

I apologize for not returning here in a while, but I just got done updating MIYOCO's article with info about Shio Jī, while I've added a artwork to the "Charge Man Ken" article that I found at Pixiv, which shows "Charge Man Ken" in it along with several other Japanese Internet memes.

I still haven't got started on a few other memes, due to some of my life concerns and my other hobbies, but I will as soon as I find the one Xatu / "Two two" (トゥートゥー) video that popularized the meme.

@omniputance : I've edited the entry a bit, changed some paragraph titles and some sentences. What bugs me are how the videos are displayed. There should be a way to make playlist without making the page that long :( (I've tried javascripting a bit in the page itself, but then it's a pain to update/edit). Does anyone know if there's a way to make youtube playlists without having to make the playlist itself on youtube ? (much like encyclopediadramatica)

@mona_jpn : I think he already did, considering the edit history :)
I've still not added "AIRSAKO". I had other activites yesterday but I'll do it this evening for sure !

@1983parrothead
Thank you for correcting my poor English.

@G0 DVL
Is that enough ?
The description about original animation has come from these movie's description on Youtube.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S98dP_RshbU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsoaHMOp5uM
He just combined these two description.

The part of characters are all copied&pasted from NND encyclopedia.
http://dic.nicovideo.jp/a/chargeman%20ken!

He deleted only paragraph about some sub characters.

If he needs these information on the entry, he should write about them by his description. I think so.

@mona_jpn : Not yet. I've cleaned up the introductions part, for "About", where I tried to sum up all the anime information besides its plot, and "History", for how it became a meme since its creation, thanks to the information you provided :)

I've surfed a bit and found one french user who had some thoughs on it : http://www.fangirl.eu/2009/06/22/anime-impressions-part-71/
I think I must see that episode 35 because that "Dr. Volga, forgive me" is something really important :)

What I don't know is how we'll present characters. I think I'll have a look a few more videos after having learned more of it.

> Character presentation

I've done it by myself.
https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/chargman-ken

How fearful my awful article written in English exists on the internet !!
Please check this out ASAP !!

so,
Mona_jpn i took a look at the article and i must say you did a great job! thumbs up.
i also cheaked the rest of the article for errors.

> Night of Knights

- History

The oldest on NND is here. It was posted on the 7th August 2008.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/nm4213442

I think source audio file is this. It was posted on the 20th July 2008.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm4014273

This meme probably had begun by the guy who uploaded this original song shamelessly.

other early hits.
Mcd of Ronald (マクド・オブ・ドナルド) [28th August 2008]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpM7oCziGBU
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm4446051

【らき☆すた】バルサ・オブ・ミコス【柊つかさ】(or Night of Tsukasa) [19th September 2008]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sD78fyaYhyQ
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm4648439

This movie will score 1 million views on NND soon.

Because these and "Night of Command"'s hit continually within a month, this music got huge presence on MAD movies on NND.

And around December 2008, it seems that this music started to be used in YTPMVs by Westerners.

ナイト・オブ・[Heavy goes to a rave party] [4th December 2008]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLydK2rBQDY
ナイト・オブ・【COCAINE】[12th December 2008]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCMhKcjktPM

Many other TYPMVs refer to this "ナイト・オブ・【COCAINE】".

If we find the person who made this song's 90-seconds-version which is used in this YTPMV, he is maybe the starter of this meme in West.

It would be better to add these information of its popularity on the entry.

- Music Cover

"Night of Knights" is fast and complex music and hard for human to perform live.

That's why many people challenge to play that by live performing.

And there is a huge category of music playing "演奏してみた(lit. "I've tried playing")" on NND.

search result : "演奏してみた"
http://www.nicovideo.jp/tag/%E6%BC%94%E5%A5%8F%E3%81%97%E3%81%A6%E3%81%BF%E3%81%9F
It's over 60,000 hits.

Thus because they have this huge community in their background, "Night of Knights" playing movies are also many.

mona_jpn :

Do you think this "演奏してみた(lit. “I’ve tried playing”)" trend of people trying to play different tricky song/covers could worth its own entry or is it too wide of a subject to ba qualified as a "meme" ?
Or is it better as a simple complementary note on the "Night of Nights" (Yeah, I found out that its name was also mistaken with "Night of Knights" for reasons I don't know) entry ?

It's worth enough to try making an entry. Some famous players appeared on TV program and some of their circles present their original concert. Its spreading is wide.
But it may be a little hard to make it concisely.

And "演奏してみた" doesn't limit its music only with difficult or technical one. its genre is various.

This is by the way. There are also some huge communities same as "演奏してみた" on NND.

"踊ってみた (lit."I've tried dancing")"
http://www.nicovideo.jp/tag/%E8%B8%8A%E3%81%A3%E3%81%A6%E3%81%BF%E3%81%9F

It's over 20,000. And this is the background of supporting these dancing-meme : "Cirno's math class dance" , "Hare bare yukai dance" , "geddan".

Of course, the girl from Mann island, Beckii Cruel's phenomenon is also based on this trend.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beckii_Cruel

"歌ってみた (lit."I've tried singing")"
http://www.nicovideo.jp/tag/%E8%B8%8A%E3%81%A3%E3%81%A6%E3%81%BF%E3%81%9F

It's over 200,000. Not only Japanese but also Taiwanese or some other countries people are challenging this.

Some singers on this community collaborated with major music label to release CD in 2008.

And singing-version-video of many MAD movies are made by people in this community.

> "Night"or "Knight"

To tell the truth, it doesn't decide officially how its name is written in English.
So, English naming is only popular name.

However, the trend is honest.

Night of Knights:http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Night+of+Knights%22 (Over 1M hits)
Night of Nights:http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Night+of+Nights%22 (around 80k hits)
Knight of Nights:http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Knight+of+Nights%22 (less than 80k hits)
Knight of Knights:http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Knight+of+Knights%22 (only 25k hits)

It's certain that "Night of Knights" gets much more popularity than others from these search results.

For your information, NND wiki uses "night of knights" for its article.

So, we had better call it "Night of Knights".

Mona_jpn:
Thank you very much. You rock man !
I modified the name but added that "Night of Nights" was the direct translation of the katakanas ナイト・オブ・ナイツ (Na I To O Bu Na I Tsu)

But it may be a little hard to make it concisely.

That's not a problem. I think it's better when they are many things to say about a meme.
The only difficulty here is to find out if it's more of an IRL meme or a totally Internet one.

Edit: Oops, yeah, forgot the I.

@Tomberry

Got it.
Please choose your target. I'll follow you.

> ナイト・オブ・ナイツ
If you want to write in correct rules of Romanization of Japanese, "Na I To O Bu Na I Tsu" will be good.
But all you pronounce "Na" as "Nai". Either is good if it's enough for you :)

In the MIYOCO and AirMoto articles:

  • I fixed misspellings (or typos), grammar and other similar problems.

&

  • I linked both articles to other meme articles on Know Your Meme that they mentioned.

For Shuzo Matsuoka's article, though I'm unable to edit it, I was allowed to upload several images to the bottom of it, and I did.

OMG guys!, were featured!!!,
that means that we work great! =D
i sugested moar editing in the Night of Knights and UN Owen articles on the comment's section.
BTW,
i got YouTube a new Airmoto tag!, it's called: "AirMAD"
i uploaded a source vid for it and a freind of mine (MatrixMarioX) made 2 MADs of it! =D
i made a MAD too:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Buo7HWrVLHg
please comment ><.
now, i need the Airsoko source and the Futae no Kiwami source becuase i am thinking of making an kiwami article ^^

good day team =D
-----------------------------
Edit: i heard of this weird guy who SINGS Airmoto MADs, he is actualy taking Airmoto MADs and sings them.
can you tell me moar about this person ^^

Last edited Mar 22, 2010 at 11:18AM EDT

You're gonna do it properly next time ! :D

> Futae no Kiwami

Futae no Kiwami source are few on NND because almost all were requested to delete before.
Kiwami's copyright holder Fuji Television is observing strictly.

The reason why the oldest "Night of Knights" MADs is not animation but simple picture is It uses "Kiwami" as source and to avoid copyright holder's observation.

Kiwami source are where I wrote before. it's zoome.

you can get it on your PC by using downloader for example Orbit or so.
Can't you watch videos on zoome ?

did it good and understanable, not to fast and dirty ><.

plus, i have a request:
i had a hard time looking for Airmoto medlays.
if someone can give meh links to Ryuuseigun or Nanairo in Airmoto style it'll be so great!

@omniputance : I though I've explained you how to find them on your own :/

Nanairo + hissu amoto san = 七色のニコニコ動画 + 必須アモト酸 = http://www.nicovideo.jp/tag/七色のニコニコ動画 必須アモト酸

> medley

At first, you had better know that medley MAD movie is always made by many MADs editors' collaborating. Collaborated MADs are called "合作"Gassaku, collaboration". And "Gassaku" doesn't limit its music to only Ryuuseigun or Kumikyoku.

And because they are usually made for special celebration and they need enough established community to make themselves, they are not so many.

Moreover, Airmoto's community doesn't choose collaboration but increasing their movies massively on NND at their several anniversaries. This trend is based on their thought which has been cultivated through the long long war against the SGI's deleting request.

Airmoto's medley MAD using Ryuuseigun or Nanairo hasn't been made yet.

Only one medley style MAD is here.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm5402092

This medley was made for Airmoto's one year anniversary in 2008.

What is important is that this anniversary MAD wasn't made in 2009.
Needless to say, Airmoto is losing its interest gradually in Japan.

EDIT:
Oh sh*t! Two year anniversary MAD is existing.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8974722

sorry…

O___O

Okay, I believe my current semester in college is now ending, so I've got plenty of time to create and update more articles. I have gained a lot of experience in typing well-written paragraphs and articles after spending a lot of time with Wikipedia and some English classes in college, so if you need help with proofreading or fixing up poor grammar in some articles you created, add me to the list.

Anyway, here are some videos that are required for the articles of…

Ichiro Suzuki

This video shows many of his fast throws that were successful:

The first to show him throwing a baseball as a laser beam titled "Ichiro's Power":

【MAD】Ichiro de wasshoi【Ichiro × hidamari sketch 365】

Laser Beams Ichiro

Here are his crossovers:

【イチロー】イきかけの一朗信仰 ~ Laser Fusion【東方地霊殿】

This is a crossover of his meme and a meme that I'm new to called "Nuclear Fusion". Some parts of the song sound like music going down a drain, some parts sound like music heard on sports news channels.

RED_ZONE + Ichiro Suzuki

【Fight ippatsu! Juuden-chan!! ED】 ichiro on Treadmill

Xatu / TwoTwo

Crossovers:

Touhou:

Featuring Shuzo Matsuoka and another meme:

TWOTWO_ZONE (TWOTWO × RED_ZONE)

【トゥーホゥーTOSYS】ネイティオのパーフェクトゥーなきごえ教室

Hammer

Sky High

That's about it.

> Ichiro
Two videos are famous for source videos.
These are "Ichiro's laser beam" and "I was almost cuming".

- Ichiro's laser beam
This scene was happened at the game on the April 11th 2001 and was replayed many times in Japan as upsetting the evaluation of many American media which had been doubting his success in those days. Therefore, it's very popular scene for many Japanese.

-- Ichiro's power
The original movie's name is "イチローのレーザービームで人類滅亡(Ichirō no rēzābīmu de jinrui metsubou, Doom by Ichiro's laser beam)". the funny BGM of this movie is "盆周り (Bon mawari)" and is famous for being used on Japanese popular comedy show on 70's. And this is also the origin of popular MAD series on NND "人類滅亡シリーズ (jinrui metsubou sirīzu, Doom series)".

- "I was almost cuming"
This is the interview after WBC's victory ceremony at the March 24th 2009.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FS5RUK5XVE

"ほぼイきかけました (hobo ikikake mashita, I was almost cuming)" appearing in this interview is very notable phrase.

This phrase was used for explaining Ichiro's excitement for the victory. However, it was inappropriate expression for broadcasting. So, he soon apologized by the word "サーセン(Sāsen)". It is a easy pronunciation of "Sumimasen (I'm sorry.)"

It's natural that Internet users love dirty words being on the air. And Japanese are no exception. Therefore, this phrase is used in many MADs.

Finally, this phrase was praised as 4th rank on the Japanese internet vogue word award 2009.

Other phrase appearing on the video:
"アザーッス(Azāssu)" is a easy pronunciation of "Arigatou Gozaimasu (Thank you very much.)"

> 【Fight ippatsu! Juuden-chan!! ED】 ichiro on Treadmill
This is one of derivatives from other trend "○○がトレーニング (marumaru ga torening, X is training)".

It's a ending parody of "Fight ippatsu! Juuden-chan!!".

Original ED movie is here.

This can't live on NND because of copyright holder's strict observation. But there are a lot of MADs on NND.

This may be called a meme by itself from the standard of KYM.

The original was posted on NND at September 2nd 2007. And it is called the first Xati MADs.

- "トゥートゥー感謝祭" (Two Two kansyasai, Xatu Thanksgiving)
It was held on NND first at the 2nd February 2010 (the day of "Two Two") to praise Xatu. Over 30 MAD movies were posted at that day. "【感謝祭】トゥートゥーネイティオ【ネイティオ×チルミルチルノ】" is one of them.

@ Biotic Zombie
"アチョプ マウマウ (Achopu Maumau)" comes from Japanese very old and strange cartoon "海人ゴンズイ(Kaijin Gonzui, Ocean human Gonzui)" and doesn't mean anything in particular. and it's not Japanese language but only just his groans.

In this comic, Gonzui could say only "Achopu" and "MauMau" and is described something like a mentally retarded child.

For your information, Gonzui is this.

Therefore, you had better think that "Achopu Mau Mau" is the word to represent one's insanity or low-intelligence.

And this was born in not 2channel or 2chan but Japanese web site "朝目新聞(Asame Simbun,)".

This page was released at the 24th August 2007.

And this picture's author is Masao.
His web page.

This is a thread for discussing about Japanese memes, not just translating anything. While Ran Ran Ru (or "Donald" as Japan calls it) is what the artwork is related to, it's okay to discuss about it, because the Ran Ran Ru article needs more info about how it became a meme in Japan, and how it became very notable outside of Japan, especially in English-using regions.

Here is the source of that image:

http://www5c.biglobe.ne.jp/~kurekure/donarudo/index.html

The frog is "ケロちゃん(Kero-chan, kero)" and famous commercial character of the pharmaceutical company.
It is displayed at a shop front of many pharmacies in Japan.

So cute.
Therefore, Kero is sometimes stolen by a drunk or a fanatic of him.

@ Mellow

Then I assume the Commercial and The Cartoon are probably derived from each other.

The drawings you and I posted were both drawn by an author with the name of Masao (or Dr. Masao)

This site is where I believed the image originated, but mona_jpn gave me a more adequate origin.

I'm basically Japanese oblivious and Google Translation is all I had with me.

Please excuse me if I got anything inaccurate or incorrect.

I thought all of this was covered with the commercial impact in Japan and the further "McRonald Insanity" impact on the Western web.
Is there anything missing in the actual Ran Ran Ru entry ?
