"There are only 2 genders" should be edited and put back up for approval

The current page is basically a rant and isn't very objective, but it does represent an actual trend and should be worked on instead of deadpooled: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/there-are-only-2-genders

While I'm not really a fan of it, it's a mainstay of webcomic exploitables, particularly the ones we've deemed "things I don't like" memes, as you can see from various examples here:

https://knowyourmeme.com/search?context=images&q=tags%3A%28"genders"%29

Agreed, I just read it and it's bad, that whole about section is a clearly biased rant. Regardless of your feelings towards gender politics, you have to admit the phrase is a meme at this point, like documents1 said, it's the go to phrase for a lot of webcomic and other memes as well. If we can make an entry on We Wuz Kings, Dindu Nuffin and the gate that shall not be named, we can make an entry on this as well.

And by "we" I mean one of y'all cause I ain't writing shit.

Here's a trend graph also. Apparently someone mass googled it on november 20th btw, perhaps bots or something.

Based on google trends, and the images that come up for this related search, it's also called "how many genders are there". so perhaps add that to the title of the article. It actually is a much higher trend but it's bloated by people actually asking it at the same time and that there were google memes about google results saying "there are two genders" or linking a site saying there were 63 genders at the top.

Edit: more solid evidence that is an alternate name, comparing the two results with the word meme after both.

https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&q=there%20are%20only%20two%20genders%20meme,how%20many%20genders%20are%20there%20meme

that'll be my last post on this, i leave it up to someone with know your meme skills to work on this, i'm a newb in a lot of ways.

@RandomMan

I might try it, though I feel like finding a source for a meme that has the same name as an old widespread opinion is a lost cause. Maybe I could just explain when it was on the rise.

That works in cases like this. Just change the Origin header into a Background header.

I currently undeadpooled the entry and blanked it out and replaced the text with a basic description. If you feel that you can help, please request an editorship on the entry page or message me, I don't know where to start in terms of researching this and it will be a while before the admins can get to it

yes I did, it was suggested by the other mods that the best way for the admins to pay attention and pick up the article will be to make a new entry altogether, plus they thought it was best to just eliminate the garbage that the original post had altogether. The images from the original entry with the gibberish will be moved to the new entry prob by tomorrow, depends on when a mod with image powers will get to it

Tips:
- iFunny is a sceptical origin. Their site tends to work really well with Google searches, so they sometimes pop up as an origin when they might not be.
- PM James to fix the --2 in the URL.
- I'd also add in some parts that really brought the phrase back into the memeosphere, like the Bathroom Debate and Bill Nye's Gender Spectrum.
- Perhaps for a h4. Related header: Lankyposting / "HE", which tends to be used in similar contexts as a reply to mtf trans.

@randomman

Thanks for the tip on ifunny, though I was a bit skeptical too. It was mostly based on the fact that a lot of reverse image searches on the few ifunny images in the flood of reaction gifs didn't find much. I might do it for more images and see if I can get deeper.

It might be partially because tumblr results tend to be most of the image results, I might filter some of that. Those aren't really part of the meme it's just explaining their views, aka raw politics.

I think I found the earliest meme making fun of the "many genders" thing actually. It's all the way back in 2013. If it's actually the source it definitely came from funnyjunk, dude said he made it. It's so early you don't see the wave of comments of people making fun of sjws and creating fictional gender names, just one comment saying "where's genderfluid"
