Hummm, a pony version of a ballet shoe would work. Take reference from both the pony world's footwear and real-life ballet shoes you could envision how they would look. Also, grace would be liable to wear them herself from time-to-time, during performances and whatnot.

You obviously don't need too much visual design, since it's a fic character after all, but you should still have some form of visual reference both for you and your readers.

Random question: If you had to choose, among Celestia's alternate personalities, who do you prefer the most?

I prefer Trollestia the most. Her prankish behavior used in the comics I have read cracks me up every time (unless they involve Rule 34 stuff).

As for Tyrant Celestia, I'm not so sure about her since I have not read or seen a lot of comics and fanarts that portray Celestia as an evil ruler. Molestia only gives me a few laughs when the comics or fanarts that uses Molestia is funny and "appropriate" at the same time.

Molestia did turn me off a bit when I first saw it, but after looking at fanarts and comics with Molestia in it (the "appropriate" ones, that is), I started to like her.

I don't usually ask for references in MLP…

I wonder if anyone has tried to draw the ponies in clothes and styles of certain eras (ie 1930's flappers, 50's rocksters, of course 80's) or certain regions (Japanese kimono, Roman Toga, Egyptian Isis robe)?

No luck on flappers or much of anything American pre-1960. But if it exists, there is pony of it. I just haven't found it yet.
