is there an canon answer to the Dinky m/f question? I personally think Dinky is a boy, because a lot of the artwork I see suggests it. Plus, i guess the whole mother-son dynamic works better than mother-daughter dynamic does.
But opinions aside, i want answers!

That's a pretty nice size. The DA page was gonna be the next thing I was gonna ask about of course, so good job putting that in before I even had to ask. I'll point out now to everyone else that if you want a similar pony done, look here: http://cosworks.blogspot.com/2011/05/derpy-hooves.html

WE HAVE TOPPLED THE MILE STONE OF TWO MILLION, AND SECURED THE RANK OF NUMBER ONE MEME! IN ONE NIGHT! TIME TO PARTY HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD!

Oh, but don't party too hard.

I made this avatar to commemorate the 2 million views. (Though I still don't see what makes MLP so special…)

What do you guys think?

Oh god….. Thanks for the eye damage XD.

Alright, serious question time.
I simply do not get why this show became so popular. I've searched all around the internet, and I get the same answers each time:
"Excellent characters"
It consists of the typical bookworm, the shy girl, the tomboy, the southern girl, the rich snob, and annoying, hyperactive kid. The characters all seem exaggerated. The only character I could relate to was Twilight Sparkle in the 1st episode, before she became an extrovert.
"It's funny"
I think I've laughed 2 or 3 times during 8 episodes. I've cringed at least 15 times. Applebuck Season & Bridle Gossip were the only episodes I found funny so far.
"Good voice acting"
Voice acting's OK, I guess. Nothing special. The songs are atrocious, though. Why is the character with no sense of pitch the one who get all the songs?
"Good story"
What story? There's no overarching plotline whatsoever. Each episode's storyline seems predictable, and is simply a pony learning an obvious lesson in friendship.
"The art/animation are good"
I can't disagree with this one. It's the only reason I keep trying to give this show & meme a chance.

I don't think it's a bad show, but I can't figure out why people love it.
What I want are answers. Specific examples. You say the characters are good, so WHY are the characters good? Where is it funny? How is the story good? What am I missing here?

This was exactly the kind of answer I was trying to avoid…
Can I at least have some examples/specifics?

Ehhhhh, you ask this question every week Nintendork64. And I don't want to explain it.

I mean, what is the point. I enjoy it. I don't want to go into detail about reasons why. Cause thats not fun. I've never really thought to myself "why do i like this?", I just do like it. That's it. Explaining won;t make you go "Oh, I see! Now I like it!". I don't see any point in explaining.

The show appeals to some and doesn't appeal to others. Simple as that. You know that saying, "Different strokes for different folks." I like the show, but I can't force others to like it.

It's at lest partially sort of a pseudo nostalgia thing for me. It just feels like something I would have liked (and felt intense shame for liking) as a kid. It's almost like I owe it to past me, but there's also the fact that it's just good. I used to like cartoons for kids, it's not really surprising that I might like some now. It follows then that I should seek out whatever in the genre is best right now. This is by far the best right now, therefore I watch it.

To be honest though, the show could end and I don't think I'd be all that worried, because it's the community that I like the best. It's full of smart creative people who share a lot of my interests and sense of humor. It would be a huge shame if it did end though, the show is fun.

You seem pretty concerned about this. I'd almost say you're obsessed. Are you asking us why WE like it, or are you asking us for reasons YOU might like it despite the flaws it has shown? I've seen many people who are conflicted about liking terrible movies despite their flaws, and sometimes they sound a lot like you do right now. If that is what you feel like, I'd say maybe you need to let go of the shame you feel, and just accept it. Perhaps I am wrong though and maybe it's that you are desperately hopelessly clinging like a drowning man to a rapidly decaying piece of wood to the hope that you might still find something to love about it. If that were the case I'd say perhaps it is time to realize that you do not need the show. Of course these are all hypothetical cases.

Anyways, who said you have to like the show? It's not like we'd stop talking to you when we see you or something like that.

"Perhaps I am wrong though and maybe it’s that you are desperately hopelessly clinging like a drowning man to a rapidly decaying piece of wood to the hope that you might still find something to love about it."
I think that about sums it up. I think I kept trying because… Well I'm not sure. I guess I wanted to like it. I like the art enough to keep coming back, but I guess the show is just not my kind of thing. Too girly for me. Too little internal consistency. I never watched many cartoons as a kid, so I don't feel nostalgic about it, either.
I'll stop posting these questions, because as it's been pointed out, I don't think I can be suddenly convinced to like it. I'm just gonna accept it and move on.

Well that seems to be the heart of the issue, i bet almost every brony is an adult that already enjoyed cartoons as a child, and continued even then as an adult, with slightly increased exigences in what's worth watching

As for me i watch cartoons way more than live action, that includes adult swim cartoons, but also adventure time and my little pony, last airbender and anime like gurren laggan, and im 19 (in my country im an adult)

if you like the community (i guess thats the idea of liking the show isnt it?) i think people will accept you anyway

i dont get why jersey shore is popular but yet i still get saturated on news websites about what snooki and the situation are doing. whether or not you accept something with your own logic the world will go on regardless. so dont stress out about it.

I have a pony wallpaper on my laptop, which if I'm ever out in public I make sure there is something else in front of it if there's a chance that anyone could see what I have there.

Then back on April Fools day I pranked myself at work. For some reason when someone asked if I needed anything else I said a pony. Then over the next couple weeks we drug the joke out… "Wheres my pony?"
"What color of pony did you want?"
"Blue."
"I can't find a blue one, is rainbow okay?"

Then on April 1st I put 4 of the little molded ponies on my desk and switched my desktop to be Rainbow Dash relaxing on a cloud. And then proceeded to blame the rest of the office for it. It was a fun day.

Eeyup, got a rainbow dash flying across my screen all the time. If anyone cares to ask, I explain and they go with it.
