seconded. also WATCH CAPTAIN EARTH

WATCH IT.

This season has just been a great season period. Kawai Complex, The World is Still Beautiful, Mekakucity Actors, Ping Pong The Animation, Baby Steps, One Week Friends, Haikyuu, Captain Earth, Mushishi, just so much fantastic stuff. I'm just super hyped for next season, when I can get my Free and Psycho-Pass back on

So, a trailer for the Kill la Kill dub came out about a week ago

What are everyone's thoughts? Personally I'm pretty happy with most of the performances, particularly Nonon and Satsuki. Gamagoori and Senketsu seem a little off to me (although Senketsu seemed fine in later scenes when he had a calmer voice) but they may grow into their roles better as the time goes on

Moving on from that, I made a myanimelist account if anyone cares to friend me or whatever

Gamagoori, Uzu and Senketsu were the ones that bugged me, Satsuki sounds like a role that'll fit more as time goes on, and I thought Nonon was great. Should be a good dub.

And I'll take this opportunity to instruct all of you to watch Kawai Complex and The World is Still Beautiful. Time is running out, and they're still the best shows this season.

I know what are you talking about, is so fucking unfair.

So, I caught up to Shokugeki no Soma, and I've gotta admit, this one's been pretty damn good so far, so thanks for the suggestion.

I'm also REALLY liking the character art of Shun Saeki. Or to be more exact, the bodies and anatomy of the characters. It's a really basic and simple style with clean lines, but has a ton of impact, and nothing excess (anywhere else but the chest area). I'm really envious. Just looking at the art shows that this guy has drawn a shitton of people during his career.

And considering the foodgasm faces and skill at bodies, I'm pretty sure he's drawn his fair share of lewd material too.

Doesn't Brynhildr only have a few more episodes left? Why the hell did they change the op? And, more importantly, what the fuck did they change it to?

No, I don't hate you and I personally am not repulsed by it, but I can see why people are. You feel me?

He also thought the same about my 3ds game senran kagura burst, which at its worse, only shows them in swimsuits.

damn, just swimsuits?
not worth the money after all :P
not meaning to offend, but i think acceptance of nudity and sexuality in media is a bit different than lolicon. to pick up your comparison to violence, i don't think people would be all that comfortable watching saw or some other graphic movie with the entire "victim-cast" replaced with under 12 year olds.

so, i was at dokomi and GSC had their booth and i was all like meh becasue what i saw from afar was a bunch of vocaloid nendos and figmas (no offense to anyone who likes these, but i just can't be bothered with them and the hype), the only interesting thing was mikasa and eren as well as a guts figma, but what surprised me was

i'm not that big of a nendo fan but in her case it's almost a scale figure, i just had to take her home :P
i was a bit disappointed about the distinct lack of kill la kill and jojo though…

Hunger games involves violence towards children, and that a really popular book and movie series, not to mention the cult classic, Battle Royal. Also you have plenty of animes with violence towards younger people, but that wasn't really my point. I was saying that if you think the existence of Lolicon in anime and manga has a negative effect by normalizing it and making people think its acceptable, than you have to admit that the same can be said about graphic violence. I don't expect people to be ok with Lolicon and I was never arguing that people should be ok with it.

No, its not. The gameplay gets pretty old fast. The PsVita version has full nudity I believe, deeper gameplay (I think), and multiplayer. Its getting a stateside release. Just wait for that if you must get it.

I never said it was the same. I was not referring to lolicon in my second paragraph. They were two different arguments.

Sure. Alice is my favourite girl in Shokugeki, she is so childish.

I will recommend you (again) to read Voynich Hotel. Is fucking amazing.

wrong decisions in the production I guess?

The normal thing would be to change the OP when the show starts with a new arc….OH GOD SEASON TWO CONFIRMED!!1!1!! (not really duh).

But to give an honest answer, I dunno. Maybe they changed it with not reason at all or maybe not. Just wait and see.

I changed my mind. Fack u, u pedophile.

Also, I watched the first few episodes of Black Rock Shooter. What the fuck man. I was expecting awesome gun fights and action. Whats up with Middle school melodrama?

@Loli
I genuinely wouldn't mind a season 2, I do enjoy watching this show. It's not good by any stretch of the word, but I don't really care. The only really bad show on is Soul Eater Not. My main complaint here though is that the op was cool before, and now it's generic screamo #1107

It’s not good by any stretch of the word, but I don’t really care.

But if you and a lot of people get enjoyment out of watching it, hasn't it served its purpose of entertaining you? I'd say that makes it "good". Obviously it's not groundbreaking or contender for anime of the year, but its good for what it is.

Also, anyone else here gonna watch Himegoto this summer?

"Himegoto follows Hime Arikawa, a second-year student at Shimoshina High School (霜科高校 Shimoshina Kōkō?). Forced to assume a large amount of debt from his now-absent parents, Hime is saved by the three girls of his school's student council after he is chased down by debt collectors. In return for paying off his debt, Hime agrees to their conditions of becoming the student council's "dog" and spending his high school life dressed as a girl."

@Dac
By 'not good', I mean I don't think it's good from a critical standpoint. From an enjoyment standpoint, it's great. Good critically and good enjoyment wise are two separate things. Meganebu! is in my top 20, but only cause I go by enjoyment level

Dac wrote:

lolwut, isn't Hime a girl name?

Ooohhh yeaaahhhh I going to watch this

@Random21

I know what you mean, It's just that we aren't really critics, we are just fans of anime. No need to be too critical I suppose.

Good critically and good enjoyment wise are two separate things.

They aren't entirely separate. I can't think of a review I have seen were a critic enjoys the show, movie, game, etc. but then go on to give it a really bad score.

@Loli

Good, now I have someone to discuss this with.

Last edited Jun 09, 2014 at 09:47PM EDT

That's good that you liked it. Its one of my favorites personally. I do fall into the camp though of people that really enjoyed the third film.

It wasn't bad, and I mean that both critically and enjoyment wise, but I feel it ruined a previously great ending. I like my shows to wrap themselves up nicely, I don't like them dragging out.

I kind of understand what you mean, but I have no problem with a story continuing if they can do it in a way that I feel is organic. I really liked the idea of the

incubators trying to capture the law of the cycle.
Also the animation and music was out of this world. I'd give it a 9/10 and I have seen it multiple times.

OT, by why the fuck does my text come out small all the time?

Last edited Jun 09, 2014 at 10:26PM EDT

I felt that the show wrapped it up in a nice neat little bow, whereas the movie left it open to sequels, which I detest. Check this video out, it'll give you an idea on how I feel (I might rank it a little lower though):

nah, not really interested in the game, i was curious about it though becasue why, out of all the games that could get a western release, why did this one make it. and the UK (i believe?) ad was funny.
i also don't own a vita, i wonder though why the vita version should have nudity if the 3ds doesn't

small text, if you don't leave a free space between spoiler button code and text and some other textile commands, the text will come out small, it's kinda random though, my 1st spoiler button and the 2nd exactly the same but still one has small text

geez i feel like i live behind the moon, there's 3 madoka movies already?
how many of them (if any) are just plot summaries of the show?

I watched the first episode of The World is Still Beautiful because Random wouldn't shut up about it, and I'd say it was good enough that I will probably watch the rest of it.

The first two movies.

As for why the 3ds version doesn't have nudity but the PSVita one does, just remember, the 3ds is a Nintendo system. They are stricter than Sony.

i was curious about it though because why, out of all the games that could get a western release, why did this one make it.

Because boobies and the first one sold well enough. Anyways, the PSvita has been doing a great job bringing in Japanese titles, so its not as if Senran Kagura is the only one.

Also, SHAFT animated the latest super smash bro trailer.

I will never shut up about it. There are no brakes on this train

just catched up with brynhildr, really sucks that they scratched the skadi part and the new chick at…
the facility

soul eater not got really annoying, especially the whole "meme-san and anya-san are so much better than me, uguu~" and "uh, meme-san is sexually assaulting me while she's sleepwalking again". also it's quite obvious that the guy's not used to writing slice of life and drifts away to "more serious business" or tries to make the storyline fit into the soul eater universe.
stein sucks now too, playing tricks, srsly, he's supposed to be a sadist obsessed with dissecting things, not pulling pranks on firstyears…

i know that the 3DS is a nintendo system, but there are several 18+ games for nintendo comsoles, so it kinda doesn't make sense to me. but well, not gonna agonise about that particular game anyway, i do not however own a vita, so i dunno about it's games…

There's been a lot of great shows this season, but the shit shows are particularly shitty. Soul Eater Not, Mahouka, Blade and Soul, Black Bullet (I DON'T CARE WHAT ANY OF YOU SAY)

Guilty Gear xrd looks absolutely gorgeous. take note Capcom, THIS is how you make 3D models look like their 2D sprite counterparts. Honestly, I did not like how MvC3 or Street Fighter looked. I might be in the minority, but I did not like it at all. I should have been bothered by the fact that Ark System works wouldn't be using their amazing sprites, but It actually fooled me for a bit into thinking it was 2D, so I have no complaints. It looks just so good.

Found this

With a long running series such as One Piece, you're bound to have many different animation directors come and go.

For essentially drawing the same exact people I find it amazing the subtle differences between them.

One error: the image of Robin in Takagai’s part was done by Ishizuka

Just one question, has anyone else heard of these animators? Or have any idea of their other works? I think it's fun picking up on art styles and other factors to discern on a specific animator's work.

I'm not familiar with these artists specifically, but I think it's safe to assume that they've worked on other shows by Toei. Actually, finding the similarities between different projects of the same studio can be quite fun too. I remember seeing someone talking about how One Piece copied Dragon Ball because they shared sound effects yet failed to realize they were both animated by Toei.

In terms of art style, I think my favourite director is Satoshi Kon. It is quite sad that he passed away, and I do really hope we get to see Dream Machine one day. Also, I just learned that Satoshi Kon was a director for one of the episodes of the 1994 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure OVA, which I found pretty unexpected.

@Loli and Dac
In case either of you are interested to add it to your library of anime memorabilia, Akame ga Kill's manga has now been licensed. Tbh I'm more excited that the Kagerou Project light novels have been licensed, Light Novels generally don't get the honor, and I'm interested in reading the rest of the story.

yeah, gg really looks great, i liked sf4's looks too though, i don't think they really tried to make it look like 2D.
but gg really looks amazing (that one faust move tho…, yay for may and i hope tager will come with an alternative costume), i would've liked a slightly more fluid animations, but that gives it even more of the 2D charm i guess, but yeah, finally high definition (cheated, but damn good looking) 2D sprites. gg isuka was released for steam not too long ago btw, hope this one will come for PC too :( (haha, like that would happen, PC didn't even get any bb beyond calamity trigger)

Meanwhile in the new Episode of Akuma no Riddle Aka: Lesbian Assassins anime

That fucked me up in so much levels that I said "What the Actual Fuck" in every know Language

You are right. What I meant is that I didn't like the transition from 2D to 3D at all.. I much prefer the look of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

Also, I may have found the best anime ever made. It's called the qwaser of stigmata. The plot is amazing…
