@Darkhanov
Yeah, I really didn't see that coming at all. But that's good, I guess. Surprise is critical to a show like this.
@Dac
While I wouldn't call it the best anime ever made, I certainly find Seikon No Qwaser to be…truly fascinating. Different, if nothing else. You can watch it again and again and it never ceases to be entertaining, if not just shocking. That said, if your favorite character isn't a certain Russian, sadistic loli, I don't know what you're doing. Too bad the lack of her voice actor doomed the show to never getting that third season. Not like it was real likely they were going to neatly wrap up all the many loose ends they had, because whatever semblance of a plot SNQ claims to have has and will never made/make any sense, but, hey, more fun fan service and surprisingly in-depth and likable characters.

……..uh, just so we are clear, I was not even close to being serious when I said it was the best anime ever. That being said, I do kinda like it for being as weird as it is.

I knew it. I knew you were probably being sarcastic but I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt. Aughhhhhh, why must fate be so cruel!? Why can't I find someone who actually, earnestly likes Seikon No Qwaser? Why am I still here? Why am I asking all these questions? Mermaid Man, Barnacle Boy, where are you!?
/end incoherent rant

does anyone know a good romance anime that doesn't give you the "remain in status quo" ending?
i can't stand that, why must every romance anime do that to me…
i just watched tonari no kaibutsu kun, didn't hate the end but i also wasn't really satified, didn't really feel like that much of a change compared to ep1 really….
i really liked the rest of the series tho…

READ THE MANGA. Its totally worth it.

Just ordered a dakimakura….
A kosaki onodera one and I can't wait for it to come. I'm a fucking loser sometimes.

Also, I would like to refer you to my comment on the Dakimakura entry:

What’s the point? I don’t really care if people buy these pillows. Would I get one? No. Would I consider someone strange for getting one? Sure, but its whatever. Does it bother me they exist? No.

Wave is my third favorite jeager. He is fucking awesome.
Also, I see you have pretty much caught up. How did you like it?

Frankly, it was a kick in the balls. But in a really good way.

I love and hate how they make you like a character and then BAM. I won't lie, I cried in certain moments (Schere dammit). There are some happy moments but I try to not enjoy them to much because I know they won't last…why this manga had to hurt me in this way?

But yeah, really really good. Also, this. Man I sense a Esdese shitstorm coming. And you better not touch Wave's waifu.

I'm also reading Tokyo ESP. A very interesting one, pretty good characters and story.

Reading manga isn't really my thing, I've only read Ping Pong, FMA and AoT up to this point. If the manga is as good as you say, then I'll probably enjoy the anime even more.

sigh…I give up.

Me too….

Fucking casuals man.
As for how good it is, picture AoT…. Except not shit….

Seriously though, It's a really good action manga. I really am digging the trailer.

I'll tell you what, based on what you know of my preferences in husbandos, find me a character in it who is worthy of that standard, and I'll read your damn manga

6/10 Pompadours aren't attractive. He can be as cool as he wants, but if he doesn't look attractive to me, then you don't pass this round. He gets marks up for his apparent homosexual tendencies, but not enough I say. Try again :P

Oh man, my favorite sadist… Esdese, Akame, and Leone look fucking gorgeous. Top waifu material.

@random 21
Braht is best husbando ever and would spank Bertolts ass.

Last edited Jun 21, 2014 at 09:25PM EDT

@Dac

YOU TAKE THAT BACK. I was thinking on giving this Braht guy a second chance BUT YOU JUST RUINED THAT POSSIBILITY BY INSINUATING THAT ANYONE WOULD SPANK BERTHOLT'S ASS

Alright, if you read the fucking manga you will know how amazing Brath is.

So I suggest you this, shut the fuck up and read it.

Twenty-One wrote:

Well Bertholdt is 111/10. I will defend my husbando until the day I die

Such is the fate for anyone who disses the best husbando.

Just read it bitch.

See this is why I'm always hesitant about this thread, anime is a big thing and everyone has different tastes, and I happen to be the only one who shares my particular taste. You can complain that I dislike the anime you like, and won't give maga a try (after I said I'm not a huge manga reader), but there are plenty of anime I like that you probably wouldn't try.

But anyway I'll say this, I'm sure Brath is a badass, I won't deny that, but he's not husbando material. I think Space Dandy and Owada of DanganRonpa are both badasses too, but I wouldn't consider either husbando material. Besides, if he truly is a badass, that will come through in the anime, which I would probably find more engaging anyway. Even the manga I have read I didn't find anywhere as near as good as the anime adaptations.

Last edited Jun 21, 2014 at 10:08PM EDT

Yes, Random is correct, we must all acknowledge that everyone has different tastes and not everyone is going to like the same things. That being said, Ginko from Mushishi is objectively the best husbando and if you disagree you're probably just thinking wrong.

@random21
I could have sworn this all was just a bit of fun. Random21, don't take this stuff too seriously.

Even the manga I have read I didn’t find anywhere as near as good as the anime adaptations.

This can't be real tea….

Haha we were joking, we are okay with that. Don't take us so seriously, especially me.

Name three, if I like two you lose. Yeah, I'm dead serious about this.

Even the manga I have read I didn’t find anywhere as near as good as the anime adaptations.

Okay I will be completely honest this time…NO. But sure, if you find the anime version being more entertaining than the manga that's okay too.

@Dac & Loli
I get grouchy at 3 in the morning, so I got all serious.

And besides Loli, the point was that you wouldn't watch them if I ask, but I'll take you up on the offer, watch JUNJO ROMANTICA, SEKAI ICHI HATSUKOI AND GRAVITATION Durarara, Tsuritama and Free!, I feel Durarara is the show you'd most likely like, but I'm not so sure on the other two. There you go, like two and you win absolutely nothing, but at least I get the satisfaction of other people watching some of my favourite shows.

And don't worry Loli, generally I don't take you very seriously anyway.

@CrouchingSloth

Now THAT'S a husbando I can get behind

@Evan
^^^^^^^^^^^What he said

Now I've been told by someone I know to watch Paradise Kiss, even though I hate romances, so we'll see how well this goes.

I know the season isn't technically over yet (Brynhildr, The World is Still Beautiful, Soul Eater NOT and Mekakucity Actors still have another episode left), but I'll get my end of season rankings out the way. In ranking order

Mushishi – Mushishi wins by default, it's just that good.

The World is Still Beautiful – Such a funny, cute show. It may be a shojo at heart when you get down to it, but I feel it's still pretty accessible to other people. The really shojo stuff doesn't really kick in until the last few episodes anyway. My recommendation still stands

The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behaviour – The funniest show this season hands down, it was just hilarious, I haven't seen such a funny show in a long time. As with the two above, high recommendations

Baby Steps – Kind of the underdog sports show this season with Haikyuu and Ping Pong around, not helped by it's awful animation. But when you get down to it, it's still a funny show with great character

One Week Friends – a super cute show, you can feel the moe emanating from the screen while watching it. It's not really anything special when you get down to it, but it was a really feel good show for the most part, and was fun to watch

Ping Pong The Animation – I'm one of the few who abhors the animation and art of this show, I think it's ugly and a major flaw. But it's really saved by it's interesting story and characters, to the point where calling it a sports show wouldn't be fair. The focus really isn't the Ping Pong, which is why I can still recommend it

Mekakucity Actors – This was another show that grew on me, I found it boring and confusing to begin with, but I started to grow to like the plot. I will say that I thought it had bad pacing issues, I felt like nothing was ever happening in it, and was still bored at points the whole way through. I'd mention the good soundtrack, but it is based off a song series after all, a good soundtrack goes without saying.

Captain Earth – While I felt the show got a bit more boring as time went on, it was still fun to watch. It still looks fantastic too.

Haikyuu – While I didn't enjoy it as much as others did, it was still great. It's like Kuroko's Basketball, but it doesn't take itself nearly as seriously. I guess that's the reason I'm not as struck of it, it's not as fun if they're not screaming across the court and glowing like they have superpowers.

Brynhildr In The Darkness – Brynhildr has the potential to be a good show, but I found the beginning to be a bit boring, and I also thought that the fanservice was way too overbearing. If they just cut the unnecessary crap like that, it could have been a good show rather than just decent. It is Arms though, what did I expect from the guys who made Master of Martial Hearts

Soul Eater NOT – It's shit. Not reprehensible like Mahouka, but boring and just plain. The characters aren't interesting, the real interesting characters (as in the original soul eater cast) are either just made boring (like all the female characters) or just don't appear outside of cameos (such as all the male characters).

Well the next season is in a week or so, and I have low expectations. Even if I have a lot of shows planned, I have a feeling a lot of them will be crap. I also have this nagging feeling that I won't like Akame Ga Kill, which I don't want happening because it will basically turn into what happened this season with NGNL but even worse. At least I have Free and Space Dandy, which I know will be good.

Alright guys, with the new season approaching I am going to give myself a challenge. I've never really watched more than 4 seasonal series at a time, but I will attempt to watch every series that airs this next season.

@Captain Badass
I've considered doing something like a few times, but then I remember I have 130 shows in my Plan to Watch list. And then I cry.
I do need to try to keep up with the seasons better though. For the past little while I've only been watching 2 or 3 shows per season. Out of curiosity, which do you guys think is the best for watching anime, checking out the new episodes every week or waiting until it finishes to marathon it?

Week by week because:
1) Building anticipation makes new episodes that much better and gives every week something fresh and exciting to look forward to.
Largely in part due to…
2) Getting time to talk about it with other people while the interest in the show is at its peak and everyone is sharing the same experience and nobody knows what's going to happen next.
And thereby…
3) Not having to fear running into spoilers everywhere you look and having to hide from your usual hangouts because you know everyone will be talking about it.
I always try to watch shows as they come out if I can. It's just more natural that way. It's the social way of watching, compared to marathonning, which is like the solo run of shows while week-by-week is like a relay race. It's how God intended it, truly. Amen.

Black Bullet is a show about lolis killing giant monsters and sometimes each other dying horrible and tragic deaths.

That's all I really have to say on the latest episode.

Alright, so I don't normally post here, BUT! I do want help with something.

My brother is always trying to get me to watch anime with him. The only problem is, all the shows he likes are silly comedies/very typically anime feeling shows, and I tend to stray toward darker, more psychological angstfests like Evangelion or Madoka Magica. Are there any shows that are a sort of half-way point between the two so that neither of us dislikes what we watch if we have to watch it together?

@Precious Roy
Welcome to the NHK could fit that role. I haven't watched the show myself, but I know it has its goofy moments coupled with some very heavy and serious moments. I've heard its is kinda like a black comedy.
