@Dac
There's a lot I disagree with in that. For starters, I'd argue that the reason Eren works and Tatsumi doesn't is because of the circumstances they're in. When Eren says something naive is almost always out of a sense of desperation, he usually says stupid things because he wants there to be at least some hope in the situation. I don't get that feel from Tatsumi a lot of the time because I'm not invested in the story and characters like I was in AoT, I don't feel his struggle (the poorly placed comedy doesn't help with that) so when he says something naive, I don't feel like he's saying it because he wants to find hope in a dark situation (which is where Eren gets past my gripes), it just feels like it's him being stupid. There's the odd situation, sure, I'll grant you that, but for the most part I just don't buy it. And I know full well teens are stupid, no need to tell me that, I ain't that stupid. But just because I know that's how a lot of teens act, doesn't mean I like the character trope any more.
Worth noting, however, is that JO doesn't like Akame either, although from what I've heard she puts that down more to bad writing.

You see more trains in Glasslip than in Rail Wars!

So I've been watching Sailor Moon Crystal (if I;m correct there is a week before the talent arrives) and I'm wondering if I should make a general thread for Sailor Moon.

@random21
I mentioned jesuotaku simply because every time I say something negative about AoT, you post her analysis as if I just didn't get it. I watch her reviews, but I don't always agree with her. Also, I was really just making an observation based on what you said earlier, that is, that naivete is a pet peeve of yours. Either way, I think it's best we just accept that we have different tastes.
So, I had played the steins;gate visual novel a while ago, didn't get the true ending, but I really enjoyed it. I started watching the anime instead of playing to see the true ending, and well…. I found the anime that might have killed anime for me for a while. It makes everything on this season look like complete shit. I'm 10 episodes in and I love it more than you can imagine.
Well the season's just about over and this thread is pretty dead at the moment lets talk about what shows we watched this season. So in order of quality (not how much fun I had watching, otherwise Rail Wars would be higher):
-Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun By FAR the best thing that aired. I really miss this show, if it doesn't get a second season, I will actively cry. You all need to watch it if you haven't already. Also Mikorin is best guy.
-Terror In Resonance Another beautiful show you all need to watch. Everything about this was top notch, in particular the music and animation quality, and should've been way more popular
-Free! Eternal Summer A great second season to an already great show. It even improved on it a lot. The character drama was increased a lot, so there was a lot of angst at one point, but it was still fun. The reference to the original ad in the finale made me smile like an idiot.
-Barakamon – This was the only show I picked up later on, and I regret it, because it's so good. I love the art style too. And Hiro is second best guy
-Love Stage! – The best yaoi anime I've seen. Not exactly a high bar to beat I know, but it beats it with leaps and strides
-Tokyo ESP – Not finished just yet, but had a very interesting story that I really enjoyed
-Baby Steps – Carrying on from last season, but still just as good. The realistic look at sports is refreshing, and is my favorite sports anime outside of Kuroko (I don't class Free as sports)
-RE: Hamatora – Hamatora is still my biggest guilty pleasure and even if the finale pulled the Beyond The Boundary style character-who-should-be-dead-but-came-back-to-life-for-no-reason, it's still fun.
-Tokyo Ghoul – I really enjoyed the show, even if it wasn't my favorite thing ever. From what I've heard, people are angry about the changes it made from manga, but honestly, those kinda changes are necessary in adaptations
-Captain Earth – Got super weak later on, and the ending was kinda silly, but enjoyable enough I suppose.
-Aldnoah.Zero – After Urobuchi stopped writing, this show got pretty bad tbh. Plus that ending was stupid
-Akame ga Kill – I think I'm gonna have to drop this one, I don't think I can put up with it for another season. It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too shounen for my tastes.
-Rail Wars! – If anything, I miss this show just as much as the ones at the top of my list, as I don't think I'll ever get a show more horribly funny as this one. Even Recently My Sister is Unusual wasn't this bad. I recommend it just on these grounds.
Dramatical Murder – By far the stupidest thing on this season. Bad music, bad story and, more noticeably, barely animated.
I also dropped Glasslip and Haikyuu, because I just wasn't having as much fun watching these two. I'll probably finish them eventually, but I was just watching too much to justify picking them up again
Well, I had way too much school things to keep up with, so I had only watched like the first half of most of the stuff I watched.
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun – It's pretty good so far. Doesn't grip me as much as it does to Random21, but I like it.
Aldnoah Zero – After Urobutcher stopped writing (he only was directed connected to the first 3 episodes), the quality feels quite dropped.
SAO 2 – I can't really tell anymore. I wanted stupid action, but then they tried to be kind of serious. I don't know if I should be happy. I haven't finished, I just hope it doesn't do an expand harem thing.
Sabagebu – So underated. Pretty funny, and we get an unusual MC.
Himegoto – 4 Minute of wats. Extremely unserious stuff, I can't even tell if you can call it fanservice. Quite hilarious.
Now the real question- What are you guys looking forward to for the fall season?

Here's a list of the anime that will be airing in fall by the way
In terms of anime I am personally looking forward to, the list goes as follows:
Terra Formars- I was initially excited for this because I read the first volume of the manga, so I felt it would make for a fun and intense anime. But now that the first episode has been released, a lot of the early reviews say that the censorship is ruining the show. I haven't watched the first episode yet, but I do know that a big part of Terra Formars is it's ridiculous gore. I should also note that while I enjoyed the manga, I do recognize that the characters and story aren't the greatest. If they mess up the action, the anime could turn out bad.
Log Horizon 2nd Series- I enjoyed the first season of the show, so I'm looking forward to see how the story continues. If you're looking for the whole trapped in a game scenario of Sword Art Online but done better, I would check it out.
Parasyte- It looks like it could be a really cool horror story, which is great because we don't have enough horror anime.
Mushishi- It's Mushishi.
Shingeki no Bahamut- Had no interest in this until I saw a very good trailer for it. I'm remaining cautious though, as it's based off a "social card game".
Oh yeah, here's the shows I'm checking out
Psycho-Pass -it's the sequel to my favourite anime. Although I heard Urobuchi is already clarifying in advance that he's not responsible for the show, so we'll see.
Mushishi – It's Mushishi
Terra Formars – It seems okay at least, might be good, I'll have to give it some more time
Log Horizon – Like CSloth said, it's does the 'trapped in a video game' scenario so much better than SAO, and this I don't even really like that kind of show usually.
Amagi Brilliant Park – I know this is a harem but come on KyoAni I trust you to pull this off. It's from the same guy as FMP, so what could go wrong?
I Can't Understand What My Husband is Saying – This is either going to be the best thing ever or the worst thing ever, but either way, it's probably going to be funny
Shirobako – COME ON P.A. WORKS YOU AREN'T GOING TO PULL ANOTHER GLASSLIP NOW ARE YOU?
World Trigger – This actually seems really interesting, I'm curious as to what it will be like
Fate/ stay night: Unlimited Blade Works – This'll be my first entry into the fate series, so I'm curious as to what it'll be like for a newcomer
Sanzoku no Musume Ronja – I dun care if it's bad CG, it's Ghibli, I'm required to check this out
The Circumstances in My Home's Bathtub – Read that title, how could you not want to watch that?

So, I lent my mom my laptop when we were in LA and forgot I was watching Highschool DxD on a site full of ecchi. She told me today that she doesn't care if I watch anime porn, just close the tab before I lend my laptop to family and friends. I tried to explain it wasn't porn and that it had a good plot, but I'm not sure if she believed me. I threw my sister under the bus and said she watches those shows too.
Honestly, I am just surprised how she didn't care I was watching hentai. Then again, she has seen my Dakimakura, so I guess it makes sense, and ultimately, I am old enough to decide what I wank to.
Also, I took pictures of my Figure collection, not quite current, I have around ten new figures.
One question, do you guys recomend me to go and watch anime?
Well you see, i have a loooong time since i watched a cartoon/anime, stayed mostly in games.
For some reason when i see an anime series somewhere i kinda go like
And try to stay away from it. Dont know why, just happens.
The only anime series i remember that i liked where Gundam, Saint Seiya, and a bit of DBZ but that is all i can remember.

It really depends on what you like.
Comedy? Romance? Action? Mystery?
Also, do you mind subs? This is actually quite important.
Also, there is quite a lot of anime that are hard to get hold of illegally, so I know most people either go to illegal streams or torrents.

I tried to get into code GEASS but couldn't. Seems like i get more into old series becouse in newer ones i kinda go like "nope".
Seems like most of the animes i said nope where of romance/comedy. Subtitles? nah, i dont mind them. About streams, ive seen some sites. Yeah that sums it all mostly.

Well, It seems you are a victim of Nostalgia. I would say that you try to throw away those rose colored glasses and go into a show with an open mind, you will find something to like.
I am going to recommend a few shows in no particular order.
Gurren Laggan- arguably one of the best mecha anime ever made. Its a celebration of the classic super robot shows by people who clearly loved it. Its a favorite of mine.
Death Note- an excellent supernatural crime thriller. Great characters and excellent story telling.
Steins;Gate- I just saw this show recently and I can honestly say that, in my opinion, it might be the best anime I have ever seen. Its an excellent science fiction thriller/ romance that has one of the best portrayals of time travel. Also, this is one of the only times when the overused and tired tsundere trope actually works really well, I love Makise Kurisu as a character.
Madoka Magica- trust me, I know this show looks really girly and childish, but its a truly a masterpiece and can be watched by anyone even slightly interested in anime. Its a dark and somber tale that has excellent production values.
Boku no Pico- If you can look past the fan service, it has a deep plot and dynamic characters. The climax is fantastic and it sticks with you long after……….
^
Boku No Pico tho
I want the Medaka figurine. I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT

Hmmm. Guess you just really like mecha shows, huh?
Dac gave you a great general list, I'll also recommend Gurren Laggan if you really like mechas.
I… don't know too much about other mecha shows, they are becoming much less popular (or maybe it's that there are more anime than before).
Maybe Neon Genesis Evangelion might interest you. It's more of a deconstruction of a mecha, and has interesting ideas about human nature.
Code Geass is more about strategy than like just mechs beating each other. It's still quite a solid show, but I think the artstyle might be a bit off-putting.
Just saying, anime can do much more than just action. You should try other things too. What kind of shows in general do you like?

Y'know, when I think about it, Mecha is a really awkward genre, outside of the ones that Dac recommended, there really aren't many stand out shows at all. Is there any other genre's you might be interested in? You like mecha, so maybe some regular sci-fi shows? Or just ones heavy on action? either of those would easily give me a wide variety to recommend.

Hm, i mostly watch history shows, and stuff like that. Science stuff, physics, some comedy shows, well thats in tv.
Tried NGE, but could'nt get into it. About Code Geass, watched some episodes, but i dont remember why i stoped watching.
Gurren Laggan, might try it later.
Oh! i remember, played a game named "Tales of Vespira" , had an anime art style, had something like anime episodes in it, i dont know if that counts, but i got into it, but could'nt end it becouse the copy of the game was damaged and it was the only one in the whole town.
Ded note? well you see, watched it and i just….i dont know, went like "i quit"
Ah, boku no pico, considered a masterpice by many. Watched one episode, but could not continue becouse of its greatness.

Honestly, I don't know. One thing I can say is that when I fist started watching anime about a year and a half ago, I couldn't stand the style or anything about it because I grew up hating it (aside from a couple browser hentai games) . Anyways, I saw the first episode of NGE and said "this sucks, I'm done". Didn't try watching it till a few days later when I realized I really wasn't giving it a chance. I would say you should do the same. Death Note is such a gateway anime, just give it another chance.
Oh you know what I mean Dac

Hmmm.
You can try something that fits your live action type of shows and see if you like anime that would talk about them.
Steins;Gate is a well known Sci-fi Show about time travel. It's comedic and slow at first, but gets much more intense during the 2nd half of the show. It refers to a lot of real-life incidents, just as John Titor I haven't watched the dub one, but I heard it's actually quite good.
Psycho Pass is definitely another good sci-fi. It actually reminds me of some detective tv shows, but has a connecting plotline between all those "villian of the week". It also is an interesting insight on a dystopian society. Also 21's favorite anime, I believe.
Video games got you into anime huh? I know some video games anime, since they don't have a lot
Log Horizon-
I feel it's quite a solid show. Log Horizon is able to depict what an MMORPG feels like, and implements those elements pretty well. From party systems, guilds, and roles, they do things quite well. The 2nd season for Log Horizon is currently airing.
Sword Art Online-
This show gets a lot of heat and praise at the same time. Not too much to say about this. The character and story are almost be downright awful, but if you like generic stuff, this might actually not be a bad thing. The action and soundtrack are definitely great though. 2nd season is also currently airing, I think.
.hack series-
Well, this is actually a REALLY big series. I haven't watch .hack series, so I don't know where to point, but this is definitely quite a big and long series. I've heard some good and bad things about this series too, but definitely was one of the actual first video game focused show. The other thing I know is that Yuki Kajiura composed this, so the soundtrack is not going to disappoint (she also composed for Sword Art Online).
Accel World-
I also haven't watched this, but I heard from a friend that it's ok. The best complaints about this show is probably how the main character's design is ridiculously out of place (I mean, I don't mind a chubby character, but shit, don't make him look like Cartman). Same author of SAO.
I can vouch for Psycho-Pass, it's probably my favorite anime ever.
I also remembered a mecha show you might like, try checking out Full Metal Panic.

If you want some shows to watch this season, then Amagi Brilliant Park, Gugure Kokkuri-San and the new studio Trigger shows are the best things on. Otherwise, watch Tsuritama and Humanity has Declined

Time to revive anime thread once again.
What are you watching this season?
Because of school, I can't quite keep up with everything, so I'm only watching Selector Spread Wixoss right now. The OP is quite good.
Recently finished Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari. Definitely a good series, especially Bakemonogatari.
Definitely a good series, especially Bakemonogatari.
I remember that I cried when I finished Bakemono. Not only because of the ending, but also because I knew there wasn't going to be another season. Then I found about Nise, Neko and season 2.
Ahhhh good times, I should re-watch it tho.
What are you watching this season?
Right now the only anime I am watching is Inou Battle ha Nichijou-kei no Nakade. I really want to watch some other animes but I don't have the time as well.
Sucks to be a college student on finals.
Any recommendations for this season?
What shows am I watching this season? Well I usually wait until the end of the season, but I don't see this ranking changing much, so I'll just post it now:
Amagi Brilliant Park – By Far the best thing on this season. Like no contest. It's beautiful, funny, and just all around great. Shame it hasn't been picked up by anyone
Gugure Kokkuri-San – One of the funniest cynical comedies this side of Humanity has Declined. The deadpan in it is great, and is super funny
Your Lie in April – A super sweet show, it's a lot of fun to watch, and is really charming. I love the art style too
When Supernatural Battles Become Commonplace – For a harem, this is really funny and original. I guess I shouldn't have expected any less from Studio Trigger
Parasyte – A very entertaining little horro anime, even if it turns out funny more than it does scary sometimes.
Mushishi – It's Mushishi
Magic Kaito 1412 – This show came out of nowhere for me, I'm shocked how much I'm enjoying it. It's been a really unique and different show, even if the character models look like garbage
Log Horizon Season 2 – Just like the first season, a really enjoyable show, I've found myself really enjoying it once again.
Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works – This is my first entry into the Fate franchise, and it seems like a good entry point. So far it's been a very well written, beautifully animated show, can't wait to check the rest of the franchise out
The Seven Deadly Sins – Outside of the super pervy fanservice jokes, I've found myself really enjoying this show. This is of course helped by Hiroyuki Sawano's soundtrack, which is fantastic as always.
Orenchi no Furo Jijou – Cute and gay. Can't really expand upon that.
Psycho-Pass 2 – Oh how the mighty have fallen. What had so much potential just turned into a dumb, poorly written, barely animated mess. It's sad really. Durarara will definitely be overtaking this when it's sequel comes out.
As for what I dropped:
Akame ga Kill – Sorry, this show just bored me to death, I couldn't carry on with it, I was just not interested enough
Sailor Moon Crystal – This had potential but it just got boring and poorly animated. A shame really
Terra Formers – This was pretty bad tbh. Really uninteresting. Had potential.
Shirobako – I intend to finish this, just not right now. Hell of a lot better than Glasslip, but still ehhhh
Overall this has been a bad season, I'm just waiting for Winter to come along and save me with that sweet, sweet Durarara season 2. On top of that, there's also new seasons for Kuroko's Basketball, Tokyo Ghoul and Aldnoah.Zero too. Actually scratch that last one.
@Loli
Really the only shows you need to see this season are that, Amagi Brilliant Park, Kokkuri-San and Parasyte. I'd say they're the ones that are more your thing. I'd reccomend Your Lie in April, but I don't think you're into romance. The main girl is tsundere tho kinda

Andou got bitch slapped.
Neither Andou nor Hanako understand each other. Hanako was fixed in trying to understand him but the only thing running through Nando's head all this time was "OMG SO COOL SO COOL CHUUNIBYOU IS SO COOL ". Then Hanako snapped out and he got wrecked.
Besides; dude, she is your fucking childhood friend. She is cooking for you and you go and tell her "You wouldn't understand anyways". Like, "Fuck off m8". Totally deserved.
How many episodes it has? Is it 2-cour? And shame no one is translating the Light Novels, that would have been an interesting read.
We all know that Chifuyu is the best girl

Oh parasyte, I really want to see that. I heard the manga was great. I have read a little bit of it and it's really interesting. Kokkuti-San looks fun, like any other comedy and Amagi looks like a fanservice show from what I have seen (three gifs on tumblr).
I’d reccomend Your Lie in April, but I don’t think you’re into romance. The main girl is tsundere tho kinda

I couldn't believe how cold he was being. I could feel the tension rising as he kept ignoring her while she was cooking for HIM AND HIS SISTER. She has always tried so hard to understand him and keep up with him while he forced what he liked on her. God damn, she is way too good for him, or at least he needs to grow the fuck up and consider the feelings of his friend since forever before he can even think about being her friend, let alone boyfriend. I was actually kinda glad to see her explode like that. Also, kudos to the voice actress, that scene was pretty heart breaking because of that delivery.
Im pretty sure its 12 episodes long.
It's only 1 cour I'm afraid. But yeah, Andou deserved all of that. It was really good to see Hatoko just destroy Andou there, considering how much of an ass he was to her.
@Loli
Well you proved me wrong about romances then. If you do want to see that show, then I heavily recommend it, because it is really really good and cute, and a little heartbreaking at times. Also Amagi Brilliant Park isn't really a fanservice show. It's there, but it's no more than the average KyoAni show (There, but not really the main point)

I had been really enjoying the akame ga kill anime for a while now, but I hadn't seen the last 3 episodes because I was in no rush considering I am completely up to date on the manga. Then I come back to find they completely fucked everything up. What the hell is this Bullshit? The anime had been a pretty good adaption up to this point, but now… Fuck it. I'll stick to the manga. A huge fucking disappointment.

Welp, it seems that they want to finish up AgK in 25 episodes by skipping a bunch of chapters and wrapping it up in the most rushed way possible when the manga still has a lot left to go. I give AoT shit for having terrible pacing at times and almost getting me to give up on it, but AoT stayed true to the manga and ended with the end of that arc, so you felt satisfied, but left you with a cliffhanger. AgK managed to get me to drop it. Quite a feat considering I love the manga.
The manga is still awesome, but the anime…. I give it a 6.5/10. Even if I hadn't been reading the manga, I would still give it this review based on the final episodes.
At the very least, it was good while it was following the manga.
Well I guess since the year is ending, I might as well say my top 10 shows this year (Not including Kill la Kill and Samumenco, since they were technically last year)
1)Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun
2)Barakamon
3)Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behaviour
4)Terror In Resonance
5)Baby Steps
6)Your Lie in April
7)Tonari no Seki-Kun
8)Silver Spoon 2
9)Mushishi Zoku Shou
10)Ping Pong The Animation
My favorite OP of the year is probably Tokyo Ghoul's, but Your Lie in April's gets an honourable mention. As for my least favorite show, originally I was going to go with a tie between Recently My Sister is Unusual and Rail Wars, but after today, it has to be Psycho-Pass 2. That show is just pure, unfiltered shit.
Also this means I get to look forward to next season. The best bit is, all the actual good shows from this season are continuing into next (Parasyte, Your Lie in April, Log Horizon, The Seven Deadly Sins, Magic Kaito), meaning Winter has already proven better than fall. Goodbye fall, you are sad. As for the other shows:
-Durarara season 2 (if you haven't seen season 1, GO NOW. Next year is the year of Durarara)
-Aldnoah.Zero (I love a good hatewatch)
-Assassination Classroom
-Death Parade
-Kantai Collection (Jacob this better be goddamn good)
-Koufuku Graffiti
-Kuroko's Basketball season 3
-Tokyo Ghoul season 2
-Rolling Girls
14 shows overall, not bad. Also I'm going to check out the new Psycho-Pass movie, which better make up for that shitfest of a second season or I swear to God
Best OP.
Is Cross Ange any good, I am very curious about it. Thou I have heard that it is the second coming of school days.

It's alright.
Granted if your okay with senseless violence, a ridiculous plot, and crazy characters.
I find it entertaining in that aspect, just don't expect something as comparable to other shows that are airing right now.
And it's all about preferences and personal opinion, what do you like? Would that go along with the show's output?
