KYM Pony General VIII: One Pony Away From a Cease and Desist

So I played HorseGame recently, and I gotta say, it was very fun. I love combining spells to try out different effects (my favorite ones are Surprise + Shining Armor, Wonderbolt + Surprise + Shining Armor, and Celestial) and killing enemies with them, though it took me a while to realize that after a few deaths. There are some issues with the game, such as turning around with my mouse, jumping slash attack, and camera issues while trying to attack with my sword, but other than that, the game was enjoyable.

Also, it took me a while to realize that I needed to gather up enough spell power to get the Celestial spell, so that I can blast through the door containing the giant plant. And I realized that I needed to blast the plant before I can grab it with magic.

Edit: Wait, what?! I got a new page again?! All righty, then. Have a Cutealoo!

Oh hey… I just realized there has been ONE pony that wasn't an Alicorn, and had Etherial Mane stuff at least once…

… And she also happens to be one of the ponies that most the most "super saiyan" jokes (albiet in a white body form) made about her.

I guess if anypony was going to be a Super Pegasus, it would be her.

@ Cadence's Powers

…she is like a Saiyan that can’t turn Super Saiyan

Maybe not, but she did have an absurd power to keep an evil magical king out of a whole city…

Which reminds me of a certain somepony who was able to do the same…

This lends credit to some sort of theory that they were able to either do some type of fusion, or else Cadence was able to take some of SA's powers…

Just like Tirek…

Are they taking this straight from DB? lol.

I wonder what other implications this has on the rest of the episodes???

For instance, in Dragon Quest, Twilight had trouble teleporting everyone a HUGE distance until she really needed it out of fear… (@20:25)

Or Hurricane Fluttershy when FS surpassed her personal best wing power and then started to fly faster than other ponies (I guess implying she was exceeding their 10.0 wing power)… (@19:10)

(Those were the two most recent episodes I re-watched, so I wonder how many more examples I could dig up?)

So how does Horsegame compare to that other Horsegame: Legends of Equestria?

HorseGame:

+Awesome combat system. Spell combinations are fun.
+SOCKS! And other collectibles.
+Wonderful environment. Great for exploring.
-Camera issues during combat.
-Sometimes, characters may clip through walls or get stuck in walls. (I hope they fix this in the next update)
-Controlling the character with a laptop mouse and a keyboard is difficult.

Legends of Equestria:

+Absolutely amazing environment. Crystal Kingdom, Cloudopolis, Cantermore, and Ponydale is very fun to explore.
+Completing quests is fun. I worked with other users to complete a certain quest that gives you a great reward (around 30 bits and a wearable item).
+I had tons of fun talking with other users and NPCs. No <a href = "http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WelcomeToCorneria">"Welcome to Corneria" syndrome present. (Each NPCs have at least several different lines of dialogue)
-Server issues and loading time.
-Fighting enemies is difficult due to weird combat system. (Using attacks consumes part of your stamina meter, which is also needed to run away from enemies.)

Both of the games are well-made and have great potential. I personally prefer Legends of Equestria since I love exploring and interacting with other users and NPCs.

Every time I see that damn picture, it reminds me of Stargate Atlantis.

Red Ribbon Army when?

I tried to find some RR Army pony pics, but there doesn't appear to be any--just an unrelated OC named Red Ribbon.

SCOOTALOO-BOUNCING-A-BALL-ON-HER-HEAD THREAD!
GO!

This topic might be a little too specific…

Overall, I'm a pretty patient person, but yeah, this wait for season five is getting to be really long.
We haven't even gotten an announcement of an air date yet and we're already getting into February.
This time last year, we were 13 episodes into season four.
Personally, I blame the producers and their constant fiddling with the status quo!

(Really though, where's our pony?)

This counts since Scootaloo is a RD recolour anyway. :^)

Except Scootaloo has more than just different colors… Her tail is different, the front of her mane is different, the back of her mane is different, and OH YEAH she's tiny.

If Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash share anything beyond being Pegasi, its a personality. And the word we use for that is called a "re-skin".

Erin ◕ω◕ wrote:

Actually, she's closer to a Fluttershy color-shift:

I guess they essentially have analogous relationships between their body and mane colors which is pretty interesting.
Really fed into that old conspiracy theory that Fluttershy and Scootaloo were related somehow, possibly even in a mother/daughter way.
(Dropping the Feel Bomb)

@Season Five

Damn it, Meghan; you're not helping!

"Congratulations! You posted Scootaloo!"

"What do I win?"

"More Scootaloo!"

"Yay!"

Does anyone know where that pose Rainbow Dash is in came from? I see it all over the place with all the mane characters but I can't tell if it was fan made or if it was from an episode.
I ask because butts.

Dis gon b gud. And it looks more "local." A welcome change from "villain tries to take over Equestria." I'm thinking Harrison Bergeron meets Deliverance.

I like how what is essentially G3 Unicornia or whatever the buck that place was called is a nightmarish dystopia here. As it ought to be.

I'm rather hyped for this. I've always have been a fan of dystopia narratives. Especially ones where good intentions spiral out of control, which is what I think has happened here. Equestria has always been a promoter of harmony, happiness, friendship, whatever, so this is just the logical extreme of that.
However, I do see a way this can get messed up. My biggest fear is this ends up being just another changling/windigo/siren scam to siphon magic/emotions from the ponies as opposed to an actual well-intentioned extremist. It would be a real wasted opportunity.

Unrelated professional-quality pone music:

These ponies with equal cutie marks and a huge grin on their faces scare the hell out of me. I'm gonna have nightmares tonight after watching the trailer and the gifs with those ponies…. (shiver)

No, no, no! GO AWAY! (runs away really quickly)

Anyway, I sent you a request for that Hearts and Hooves thing.

Actually, that trailer seems to give away quite a lot of what the plot will be, at least the main set up.

Obviously, we are dealing with a utopian, 'everyone is equal' kind of society where everyone has their cutie marks removed so that no one can be said to be different and thus no conflict can occur.
It's quite a cool angle for a villain in this world to take since ponies are basically defined by their cutie marks and the talents they represent.
The lesson will end up being about celebrating the things that make us different rather than suppressing them and all that jazz.
Certainly been done before, but I look forward to seeing this take on the idea.

First up, and probably the piece I like the most:

Pretty clear that she does not have wings here which implies that this is just a normal unicorn who has taken over (or created?) this town.
A major antagonist that isn't a powerful god-beast from ancient legend is a welcome change to the pattern from other seasons and I do hope they stick with the idea of this being essentially political views on fairness and such taken to an extreme.
They seemed to be intentionally showing her only from the front or back so it is hard to tell whether she has given up her own cutie mark (to show commitment to her idea) or has kept it and promises to 'equalize' herself once she has converted all others (likely meaning that she is just manipulating everyone).
The fact that she has an expression other than the creepy-as-hell death smile makes me think it will be the latter, but we shall see.

Then there's this thing:

Clearly a wall of all the stolen cutie marks (with room left for our heroes') and also a nice magical staff that presumably is the mechanism for stripping cutie marks.
She's using it in one of the scenes of the main six being surrounded:

This is our classic mcguffin object for the episode so I'm curious what the explanation of it will be.
I'm getting an evil, dark magic vibe from it but who will be credited with creating it, if anyone?
Where does one find such a weapon?
Was it something originally designed for a positive use and has been perverted in this instance, or was it created for this purpose?
Definitely some potential for a bit of lore here.

Those seem to be the big take-aways from the new trailer so I'm definitely on board!

"Hey, cool! A brand new character for the fandom to play with! After so much time with no new material, I'm sure we'll see all kinds of art, music, stories-"

Seriously though, can anyone even be mad about this?
I'm just impressed by the speed!

2 to 4 months?! Wait, that's less or more than 184 days? 'coz 184 or less days are back till RWBY volume 3. Man, I'm gonna die from boredom! Unless if I stick with you guys.

The left one.

You mean Aria?

Yeah, I guess, though she doesn't look like a pony in Equestria. She looks like this:

You know what? Fuck RWBY, I want MLP Season 5! And if we are at it, George Orwell's 1984, anyone?

@Season 5 Trailer

One thing that intrigued me the most after watching the trailer yesterday was…

That wall with squares with several cutie marks in. Some of the spaces, I've noticed, are missing.

I don't think that was the reference for the 1984, it's usual communism cannon disapproval

Actually pretty accurate given that in communist society, all beings are of equal standing regardless of race or physical stature. So any phenotype more suitable to rule would in theory be of no higher status than those more suitable to serve. (And at the same time… Nobody rules.)

Personally, I prefer a meritocracy. Too bad those are even harder to install than democracy was.

Good thing Equestria has Cutie Marks… Makes the whole process of instating a meritocracy easier.
