The Oscars are pretty much the only big award ceremony I watch. The biggest snubs were definitely Foxcatcher and Gone Girl for Best Picture and The Lego Movie and Book of Life for Best Animated Picture. Oh, and if you say that Guardians of the Galaxy or The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies deserves Best Picture, then you're a fool who needs to expand your horizons.

if you say that Guardians of the Galaxy or The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies deserves Best Picture, then you’re a fool who needs to expand your horizons.

Of course I know that they won't get best picture despite their good critical reaction (well the former that is) despite them being some of my favorites of the year. The only time I don't want a film to win is if either Martin Scorsese or Leo is attached to one of the films, or worse, both of them. That's why The Departed is my most hated Best Picture win.

You're still riding that inexplicable DiCaprio hate boner, eh? And I see we've added a new member to the club! I'm sure Scorsese is honored.

I'm kind of in disbelief about The Lego Movie not getting at least nominated, though due to its nature (licensed and whatnot) it was probably never going to win anyway. To be honest, I'm actually kind of glad, because what that really says is that animation has made a big-time comeback. It was only a few years ago that due to the lack of qualified films they had to let literally anything in that wasn't just plain shit.

And as for the "lack of diversity" bitch-fest: come on, a guy named Alejandro González Iñárritu is in the Best Director category for fuck's sake! Nobody can accept that random probability just might be a factor in all this. Selma is of course the specific one that everyone's complaining about being snubbed… even though it's in the Best Picture catagory. It's the actor and the director, but all these categories are so loaded that it makes sense, and assuming it's just because of their race is a serious case of conformation bias, especially considering last year's awards.

Yeah, I think this year's nominees for best Animated Film were really poor. Book of Life was way better story/animation than Big Hero 6 IMO, and Boxtrolls only feels deserving because it was stop animation and thus a really demanding medium. I've never even heard of the last two, but I guess that doesn't mean they weren't deserving of nominations. Lego Movie got supper snubbed as well, but I could see how they might have disqualified it because of the 1-2 minutes of non-animated scenes. It's still complete BS if that's the only reason why it didn't get nominated. The only one I fully agree with on that list is HTTYD2. It far exceeded my expectations in being a sequel and as far as it's re-watch value. I really only put it and Boxtrolls as the two contenders for Best Animated Picture…that is unless people put up enough ruckus about Lego Movie getting snubbed.

(Also, watch Book of Life if you get a chance. 10/10 I fully recommend it. Both the style and story were good. Channing Tatum was even in it. Who knew he could voice act? Lol.)

I haven't even seen any of the best picture nominees.

Well, I recommend Boyhood and Birdman. The problem with the Oscars is that most Americans have NOT seen any Best Picture nominees.

@Jimmy

Did you not see the other five nominees?

I have now. OP just posted three of them for some reason.

Grand Budapest didn't get a Best Picture nomination :\

Yeah it did, as it was mentioned before the OP only posted 3 of the 8. Here's the full list:

American Sniper

Birdman

Boyhood

The Imitation Game

The Grand Budapest Hotel

Selma

The Theory of Everything

Whiplash

Thanks for the bump Chowz.

Did anyone else see The Theory of Everything? I saw it, and liked it pretty well, but I'm not quite feeling it for Best Picture. The actor (Eddie Redmayne), I totally get him getting a nomination because his acting from going from functioning to full on ALS was really great and brought a lot of emotion to the film, but the film didn't feel as monumental as some of the others.

Also, I'm not feeling Grand Budapest for Best Picture either. For Cinematography sure, the movie flowed pretty well and had some interesting scenes, but I hardly see it as being a "Best Picture".

Although, now that I think about it, those are the only two on that list I actually have seen. I want to see Birdman, AS, Imitation Game, and Boyhood, but I haven't got a chance yet. Maybe TToE and GB were two of the only good movies this year (lol). I've heard the most buzz about American Sniper though, so I have a feeling that one is probably going to get it.

Best Supporting Actor: J.K. Simmons (Whiplash)
Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette (Boyhood)
Best Foreign Film: Ida (Poland)
Best Short Film: The Phone Call
Best Animated Short: Feast
Best Animated Film: Big Hero 6

As if there was any doubt that Disney wouldn't get the Best Animated Film award.

Why do I get the feeling that the Academy Members were just like: "Aw screw it, just give the Animated award to Disney, no one really care about animation, anyway" again?

Check This Out

Apparently, the two foreign movies are nothing more than "Freakin Chinese F**kin Things" that no one gives a crap about. (Funnily enough, Song Of The Sea and Princess Kaguya aren't even Chinese but Irish and Japanese (Studio Ghibli) respectively, that's just how whacko some of these people are.)

I think I just facepalmed my head off, excuse me while I go find it…

- Who give to this son of bitch green card?
Sean Penn.

Honestly, I never was a fan Inarritu's movies, but I'm glad and happy (and little jealous) to see him win an Oscar for his own merits.
Now let the cocksucking from the Mexican media begin.
But it's really sad to watch one of the two best filmmakers from my country, who must let this shithole that is Mexico to get the maximum prestige that any mortal would desire, the American Citizenship an Oscar.

Congratulations Mr. Inarritu!
Mexico (and any Mexican that want to jump to the Oscar bandwagon)…you…you just shut the hell up.

Oh, man, I can't WAIT to hear Fox News bitch about this.

They will bitch about the Patricia Arquette speech.

Arquette talked about wage equality and feminism.

Just checked it out. So true, and it's gonna get righties sooo mad. Beautiful.

But hey, why are we talking about politics? Birdman was fucking fantastic, and I'm so happy it won.
