I feel the same way. For a while, I felt like I was just kind of watching it, and going through the motions. It didn't feel the same.

This season is a refreshing change. It got me excited about Saturdays again.

Wooooow…. just wow. First of all, it's very interesting how apparently Rose Quartz didn't kill Pink Diamond after all; besides what blue Zircon said to begin with, there's the fact that Blue Diamond said that Pink Diamond was killed with a sword; now as you might remember, Bismuth said that Rose's sword was designed to destroy the physical form in one hit but leave the gem unharmed, so that obviously doesn't add-up either. Alzo, I'm guessing that Zircons are designed to be the best possible lawyers and also have deduction come as a second nature to them, thus explaining why she did something like accuse the Diamonds: for her conscious self, it was the stupidest thing ever, but for her unconscious, it was just the natural course of a logical deduction. I wonder if this trial will plant doubts on Blue Diamond's mind…

Anyway, as for the second episode, I just gotta say that I'm happy about Lars finally overcoming his fears and being the undisputable hero of the episode. If I had to guess, this change came as a result of him completely dropping his facade during "stuck together", so by this point he didn't bother to pretend anything but what he currently was and felt, allowing him to use that energy wasted in a facade to actually muster willpower and save the day. Also, yeah, of course I loved the new gems, and of course I found Padparadscha adorable, and of course I'm sure there will be a lot of porn of her soon, in fact i'm sure there already is.

Ahem, anyway… A very old leak of a single image from a storyboard implied that someone would die, and with Lars being with Steven in Homeworld, it added up to Lars dying which… technically did happen. The revival and him getting Lion's powers in the process was rather surprising, but at least it finally answers the question of what is lion and where he comes from, tough it does open a new question: Why was Rose Quartz able to revive organics, and why does said revival work in that particular way?
I feel bad that Lars had to stay behind, but I'm sure he will have his changes (both physical and mental) solidified and grow upon by the next time we see him, precisely due to his current predicament. Also, while this special was the best, it will piss me off if Steven and the gems pull off a Rubies in space and start to goof around rather than get their asses into doing something to save him and the off-color gems. I really expect something more on the line of the drill building, where they took breaks and didn't work around the clock but definitely had a mission and pursued it.

Finally, there's this

I need to go back to the tranquility of the earlier episodes, it felt so much safer back then. This show need to chill the fuck out but, who I am kidding? This is definitely the point of no return.

Now, where should I start? The Trial was heavy, really heavy. So much mysteries layered over the already big mountain of enigmas, but this felt different. There were no warnings or protection offerings to Pink Diamond before the "authority call" took her out of safety for the inevitable. Furthermore, Yellow Diamond didn't offer much emotion at the end of Blue Zircon's allegate besides absolute anger, like, it's as if she took that as something worse than an insult or an offense for being pointed out as a diamond murderer. However, that possibilty is now on the table so, the suspicion will be on her unless White Diamond comes out and reveals that she ordered her death and doing so by removing all traces that Homeworld was involved in any way. Or… or, another possibility could be that Blue Diamond was psychologically manipulated, lobotomized like a sleeper agent, to perform the kill, but this last theory doesn't seem that probable. I don't know, they could surprise us.

And then, and fucking then, just like that, the seemingly appearance of a colossal statue(?) of White Diamond on the horizon with what appears to be an extremely high-tech, merged-with-mystics, homeworld society. Moving on with the newcomers, there are many: The siamese Rutile, Padparadscha (my personal favorite of the crew), Rhodonite and Fluorite. These gems, which I had to look at a transcript to know how they are spelled, I swear, one day, they're gonna form the resistance with Lars as a general or whatever.

Moreover, the endings of Off Colors and Lars' Head. The first one was intense, I mean, Lars died and resurrected… with a low hearbeat, but still. Seeing Steven crying like that makes me think how much that kid has gone through, and this ain't over. It's never over.

Lion is now a portal to Homeworld, but at the high price of leaving Lars behind. He and the rest of the new gem crew now will be working as messengers, though. Finally, something else I'd like to point out, there was something odd with Connie, after all, she was the last to react to Steven's return. I'm sure he and Connie will have a pretty long talk (besides everybody else, of course) after that incident with I Am My Mom.

Ah, yes, I must also mention how… interesting was when Pink Pearl, not exactly by her name, was mentioned. The plot merely extra thickens.

Alright – going to dispense with the spoiler tag since the episode's been out for a while.

The series seems to be entering its endgame. I have some observations:

1) Lars is probably not going back to Earth until the end of the series. It's become clear that as long as the Diamond Authority exists, Homeworld will be a threat to Earth and the CGs, and this portal is the best way to bring it down.

2) Key to all this is the growing rift between Blue and Yellow Diamond. Blue's love for Pink, who seemed to care about Earth, along with perhaps a growing sense of betrayal from Yellow, could make her a potential ally – and having a Diamond on their side would make the CG's war on Homeworld a lot more winnable.

3) White diamond is of course the wild card here. Though we know almost nothing about her, it's clear that she supports the current power structure and is also in charge of Homeworld. Expect her to be either an ally or avenger for Yellow once shit hits the fan.

4) The off-colors seem like they could be an excellent la resistance, but the really interesting character here is Topaz. While gems high in the hierarchy like Jasper, Aquamarine, and Holly Blue Agate seem like good bourgeoisie who believe in The System, other gems like Peridot and Topaz seem open to change. We've seen Steven work his magic on a one-on-one basis, and we saw him befriend the Cluster, so the next logical step is for him to, as his mother never could, make friends with an empire.

5) At some point all of those bubbled Rose Quartzes are going to come back to life and meet Steven, and that's going to be super weird.

My personal theory of how this show will end? There won't be a war between earth and homeworld. Instead, Steven's interference will plant more seeds of dissent (like he has already done with the famethyst, and Topaz, for example, or how he suddenly gave the off-colors, who had resigned to live in the shadows forever, hope of something better) that will grow and spread and eventually Homeworld's current societal system will just crumble from the inside. There will be violence and chaos, but given the approach this show seems to take of Steven doing this more non-violently and outright better than his mother, it won't be a full scale civil war and will subside relatively quickly. The diamonds won't be shattered, but, depending on their action, in a case-by-case basis, they might or might not end bubbled.

Also, This one i'm not as sure, but is likely that at some point a rift between Blue and Yellow Diamond will be created. It's very likely they won't stand in completely opposite sides, but they will stop communicating and start taking actions and giving orders that contradict and hinder the objectives of the other. Also, due to the way this show works, it's likely they will eventually reconcile too.

A big thanks to everyone who submitted an idea in the CubedCoconut request thread!
It was hard to narrow it down to five ideas, some had to be merged into one, but, without further ado, the StrawPoll is live!

Awesome – my suggestion made it in! Can't wait to see what PyramidPineapple has in store.

Mine made it in as well. I'm surprised it's getting as many votes as it is right now, despite the overwhelming support for the KYM-chan/Pearl cosplay suggestions

And the Winner of the Poll is Pre Redemption Peridot with 33% of the votes!
in second place was Hyper's idea of the Pearls in KYM colors, 25%
in third was several peoples idea of Pearl dressed as Kym-Tan with 17%
Fourth was Platus' idea, Greg dancing with RB Quartz with 16%
and in last, sadly, is KYM-Tan in a SU style with only 8%
A big thanks to everyone who submitted an idea and voted! This was really fun to do and I hope that we can do something similar again soon!

2 things(or 2 questions):

Did anyone hear about the leaks of the new episodes and a new gem from SDCC?

Is it true at the start of 'What's the use of feeling Blue?' that the first three(or six) is part of the corruption song?

So I take back what I said about thinking that Emerald is unnecessary as an addition to the show now that I know about her position as a ship captain, but still, she doesn't strike me as too threatening. I hold out hope that there exists a true monster of an adversary that awaits our heroes, Diamonds excluded. From what we've seen of the Gem army, I can say that it isn't too terrifying… Rubies, the most common foot soldier are tiny and weak minded, Quartzes seem too free willed, Agates are a joke, Aquamarines are useless without their wands, and Topazes are ok tanks, but easy targets. Jasper seems to be the only exception to the constant theme of the Gem forces being an ok army but with huge flaws, which is ironic considering her backstory, but lets think that Japser is sort of a, extreme outlier in this regard. Considering what we've seen, it's not to hard to see how Rose's rebellion sent Homeward packing, which is why I believe that there exists something in the darkness of White Diamond's court that can turn what we've think of Homeward gems from geeks with power to soulless monsters. Before the Diamonds exists an incredible threat to our heroes, a being so secret that not even the Crystal Gems know of her existence, think of her as… The Hand of White Diamond if you will, a emotionless psychopath that exists only to serve. With her, there is no pride, no glory, no goals, no hatred, no love, no sadness, no laughter, no tears, no words, no pain, only her Diamond. A total opposite to Steven in every sense of the word, and completely alien to even other gems, she is the purifying light of White Diamond. After completely exhausting themselves in trying to defeat this machine, White Diamond has had enough, and goes to Earth her self…
There, killed two birds, created a total monster of a character that shows both the evil of White Diamond and the tragedy that is growing up a gem on Homeward, and now a good reason for White Diamond to show her big face, the failure of her NO. 1.

Too lazy to put a spoiler button, but there’s no spoilers in this post.

So, from these six episodes, there was nothing bad, it may seem like filler on the surface, but every episode has long term progression in it.
I enjoyed them.
Mostly because there are a lot of new memes to be born from this “App Bomb”
#NoPartyBoy

This arch wouldn't have been as disappointing to me if it came soon after the last batch of episodes but the fact that we had to wait for nearly a year only to get a more boring version of the Perl and Garnet fight is just frustrating

(SPOILERS)

There is also the fact that they wanna do Lapis's "Fuck this gay earth" plot AGAIN which just feels like a regression of her character. It feels like everything shes learned and been though was just washed away in one episode just so they can do a han solo rescue with her later down the road.

We know shes going to come back, its just to create conflict for conflicts sake. Maybe they just ran out of shit for her to do? But id rather her have a complete character arch and have her just dick around on the barn doing nothing then just erase away her progress

I wouldn’t say it’s regression with Lapis, just something you have to analyze a little bit to have it somewhat make sense. The last time she was a part of war, she was just a bystander that got caught up in the fighting, wrongly abused and accused, and imprissoned for over 5,000 years all alone. So in that case, while everyone taught her how to socialize and to appreciate Earth, no one really helped her get over her fear of war, Peridot even admits to lying when she talks to Lapis so that she doesn’t say something that might hurt her emotionally even if it’s something she needs to hear, which peridot realizes right before Lapis made up her mind about leaving.
That’s just me rationalizing her behavior though, Lapis has been an inconsistent character post Barn Mates, so I could be a shoehorned drama moment.

Has no one else seen the episodes yet? So far only one other person has posted on this thread. I really want to know how others feel about them.

Fuck I wounder if people even realize there are new episodes

I got notifications turned on, so thats why I'm the only one here, and replying.
Everyone seems to be posting their thoughts on the SU page itself. Don't know why, probably cause more people use the page than the forum

I saw them. I almost didn't, because after nearly a year, and seeing that a few episodes were more townie nothing episodes, I've grown pretty apathetic to the show, which is sad because I really liked the show, it's what this bomb then 8 month hiatus format does to you. I care so little about townie episodes at this point at that I straight up skipped "Sadie Killer" and speed watched "Dewie Wins" As much as I like SU, the absolute crawl of plot progression is just sucking any hype I have from me, and it sucks, because this is mostly CNs fault.

(spoilers start here)

On the episodes itself, not much happened other than Lapis fucking off the planet. I would have actually liked it if they showed Steven and Sadie telling Lars' parents, hell, make the first episode that! I don't think anyone, even the people who love the townie episodes, cares about Mayor Dewie, but now that they got us to care about Lars, an episode where Steven has to deal with the ramifications of allowing his friend to get killed then stranded on an alien world would have made a way better episode. But I guess Lars' parents are fine with that.

On the other episodes I saw, I'm also interested to see what the CGs thought Steven saw that made him freak out, something they know that we don't? Peridot also had a nice episode dealing with nihilism and not letting it set in. Lapis is a fuck, PTSD or not, you don't just abandon your friends to save your own skin like that, especially since out of all the Gems there, you are the one most capable of defending Earth. That Ocean shit she did her intro episodes would fuck up any invasion. Hell, maybe that's why she left, she's too powerful on Earth so the writers had to make her leave. The whole Connie thing was meh to me, I kinda knew how that was going to end.

(spoilers end here)

All in all, the only real problem is that this was not worth a nearly year long wait, which really hurt my enjoyment of the episodes, I feel like CN is actively trying to kill the show, hell, they made the bomb format even worse than before and dropped the episodes all at once. I might have actually watched Sadie Killer if it came out on it's own day, maybe I watch it later if I hear good things or see a bunch of memes, but this show desperately needs a weekly release if it';s going to do the townie style episodes like this, at least Star Vs. has plot going forward at a reasonable pace making it's bomb format tolerable.

Don't fret if you don't have the app, you can find the new episodes on the internet.
Now for one word reviews:

"Your Mother and Mine" : Good

"The Big Show" : Ok

"Pool Hopping" : Awesome

"Letters to Lars" : Ok

I guess we're off to retrieve Lapis next, lets hope that happens before I finish College. Which is two years from now, if you wanna keep track.

Anyone heard that France is getting preemptive Steven on the 7th and 8th?

The episodes start at 1:25 local time.

First, the way Pink Diamond theories went, the fact that they ended up going full circle feels like…

And that trailer for the next episode is going to make the wait extra-painful.

Is Steven is Pink Diamond, that explains this

Edit: Wait a fucking minute… Does this mean all that stuff about Pearl being her own pearl was bullshit?!

An in depth look through the two recent episodes. Conversations are welcome

Can't Go Back
- There will come a day where Lapis will no longer feel threatened and will finally be able to just live her life, unfortunately, that won't be today…
- Lapis' song was also very. very good. Strong lyrics, and some of the most beautiful animation and visuals this show has ever put on, second only to the Studio Trigger bit from Mindful Education. A random note, when the room began to flicker before the hook of her song, I swear to god her melody was about to become a metal song, which might've been out of place, but man won it've been bad ass.
- Ronaldo noticed the Barn but didn't see the Moon Base, just thought I'd point that out for everyone.
- I find it funny that there really isn't much else to say about this episode, even though it has one of the shows most emotional moments. Yeah, good shit.
- "The moon sucks" – Lapis, 2018

"A Single Pale Rose"
- Pearl being so unassuming in her daily life despite how much of a complex person she is makes her even more awesome/lovable. The f*ing briefcase for her cell phone.
- I love the concept of going inside Pearl's head and exploring her psyche, there's so much to say, but I'll try to sum it up. I love how her past-selves are indicative of Pearl's personality, and that it's actually somewhat of a job for her to remain in control of them. I love how "face" Pearl just organizes things in a Matrix like fashion. I love that Pearl has a shotgun stored inside her, as if she's confiscated it from someone as opposed to owning it.
- I don't like that Pearl as Rose before the big twist is crying, because it only serves as a gimmick to throw off the twist, there's no reason for her to cry like that, if anything, she should've had a stern expression on her face.
- Now for the twist, I'm ok with it. I like how the reveal and how the twist itself was handled. I kinda of like that Rose was never "real", because people always presented her like a biblical figure, and little did they know how right they were on both sides, that she wasn't real, and that she was actually a god of their people, technically, I see the Diamonds as gods. It also explains Pearl's fascination with Rose a lot as well, it was more than just love, or friends, it was a loyal servant following her master. It also shows us just how strong the bond is between Pearl and Diamond. The best part about the twist though, is that it gives you a reason to rewatch the entire series again with this new perspective. That's any plot twist should strive for, to be able to make the viewer watch the product again, but not with a cynical attitude about what they know, but instead to have them try to redo the puzzle they thought was completed for them.
- Good to see more episodes coming this Summer, means we won't have to wait too long, I guess Ruby and Sapphire are getting married next, cool. Can't wait.

Two really solid episodes. My predictions are for Lapis to splat on the windscreen of Lars' spaceship on his way back to Earth, forcing her to face her fears I guess. I also predict that Blue knows something is up with Steven, and that will help ease into that big spoiler.

This merry-go round still has one more rotation left, let's see whether it'll be a whimper, or a nice relaxing conclusion. Or a malfunction, and it goes super fast, throwing all of us of the ride and into the chili dog stand.

As Cooler said, this does put in perspective a lot of things. For example, no one liked the way Pearl behaved when she discovered Rose was hiding something from her. But now… No wonder she was so hurt! If Pearl was the only one that knew about something as big as Rose's true identity, of course she would think that Rose would trust her with everything.

Also there's the possibility that things would have gone wrong anyway, just in a different way, but you can't help but wonder if every major problem in the show is the fault of Pink Diamond deciding to "die" and lead the rebellion under a different face instead of openly rebelling. Although there's a possible justification in that maybe she wanted the gems to rebel for themselves instead of out of duty to her (You know that a lot of gems that were otherwise loyal to the homeworld ways would have followed Pink Diamond's new ways just because she was their Diamond).

Other thing that I can't help but think, is that is somewhat disturbing that a Pearl is apparently absolutely compelled to obey what their diamond (or maybe their owner in general, even if it isn't a diamond?) orders, to the point that Pearl literally tried to tell the truth but her hands moved on her own to shut her and we can hear her mumbling behind them. On the other hand, this does help to set her as her own Pearl despite everything, given her deep subconscious desire to disobey PD/Rose and tell Steven the truth, and the extent she went to to get around her order.

Finally, now we know how will Jasper's redemption probably come to be. Oh boy, can you imagine the rollercoaster of emotions she would feel the moment she found out that Steven has PD's gem? (I loved my Diamond! And she lied to me! And I tried to kill her and spent my time hating her by accident! And now she's a weird little human hybrid! Which I tried to kill too! AHHHHHHHH!)

Tentacles wrote:

All things said, after this revelation, the only big mystery left in the show is White Diamond as whole.

But "A Single Pale Role" opens up more mysteries itself. Like, how did we get from petulant angry Pink to the Rose we've seen? There's a lot of character development going on there that we've just missed. And did she start the rebellion herself? Moonlight as her own nemesis for who knows how long? There's a whole lotta plot missing there.

Me: Man, Jasper and Bismuth sure are gonna be angry when they get out.

Also me: You mean, IF, they get out.

TFW they're probably never coming back to react to this revelation.

You know, the thing with this reveal is that now it feels like you gotta rewatch the whole fucking show so far with the new context. Because boy, I am constantly finding more stuff that has changed a lot, if not completely. For example, now Pearl's pain at Rose hiding anything at all from her in "Rose's Scabbard" is a lot more understandable, and now we realize that Blue Diamond and Greg were literally mourning the same person, Peridot shit talking Rose in "It could have been great" now feels a lot less questionable, and so on.
Now, it's a fact that Rose/Pink Diamond did a lot of plain wrong stuff. But the reason behind this seems to be mostly the fact that she was rather immature.

"What an incredible power. The ability to, grow up"
The first time I heard this line, it was for me just Rose's regular fascination with humans. But now, it hit me like a truck. Of course Rose genuinely finds "growing up" as an incredible power, It's literally the most important thing she can't do! She has the maturity level of a teenager and she can't grow out of it, even if she wants!
Humans become wise and rational in what for her is like a blink of an eye, and she's stuck making stupid mistakes forever.

Edit: I had more realizations. We have accused Pink's plans of being stupid, but they weren't completely out there after all. All her plans amounted to convincing the other Diamonds that earth wasn't worth the effort and they should give up on building a colony there. This wasn't unheard of; "Jungle Moon" is clearly a failed colony, and Pink probably witnessed how that colony went belly-up in the first place. The only reason why all her plans failed (the last one spectacularly) was that she completely failed to realize how much the other diamonds actually loved her.

Pearl and Amethyst have fused with a Diamond. That kinda just occurred to me now that they really are no different then any other gems. That makes me kinda wonder, what makes a Diamond a Diamond?

Diamonds are a social construct

Gems just swear absolute loyalty to the Diamonds because they're superior for some fucking reason.

I mean when you think about it back in early colonial times they did the exact same thing, claiming their race & religion was superior meanwhile the only things really protecting them were usually just their large ravenous militaries
