Why i can't take back my up/down votes?

I think it is just so someone can't go back and just start changing past decisions if someone happens to piss you off, or something.

It would, regardless of how minor it is, waste server power.
That's why they don't allow changing thumbs on youtube or funnyjunk. It's easier to just record the data as a number and end the matter then record the user and leave the option open for them to change that number.
