How do you add a friend? I don't see any option on member profiles, so I'm a bit confused.

Once they follow you, the friend option should appear on the place where the follow button normally is. Same if you follow them, they then get the friend option on your profile.

A double follow is basically a friendship.

You can friend followers
Basically a follow is a friend request
People you follow decide to friend you or not
Same goes to you and your followers
