Cringeworthy Cleanup

Loli you are just misunderstanding and exaggerating the issue. The gif gallery has no problem whatsoever. It would be more helpful if you had wasted your time with tagging those images normally . You have just done it for nothing.

As you said before: people are just dumping whatever they got. But your "gif:not" tagged images include gif images from MLP, kill la kill or other animes/games/things. How do you expect mods to delete or move gifs from gif gallery?

Mmmm…you have point. I'll delete those tags an add useful ones.

By that logic, every gif uploaded to the MLP:FiM gallery could be uploaded a second time to the gif gallery and it would be completely ok. Can you imagine the flood?

Specific dedicated galleries should have priority above general descriptions. If there's no clear dominating subject in the piece of media, it's ok to upload the piece to two galleries:

^This image if a ponified version of the popular Doge meme. Both are memes on their own and neither is really dominating the piece over the other, so it can be uploaded to both galleries.

^This gif is clearly based on Jesus from the Saint Young Men anime, and therefore would be much more fitting in the subculture entry for Saint Young Men instead of the person entry for Jesus.

If you wanna have fun with yet another gallery, we also still have Alternate Universe. Yes, a lot of these images are an alternate universe in a way, but with A LOT of them there's always a clear dominating part that makes it best to upload the image to a gallery that isn't Alternate Universe. Basically said, it's a dumping ground for anything that contains slight elements of something else than one meme/subculture.

Clearly based on the popular game Duck Hunt. Upload to there, not AU.

Final Fantasy version of Pokemon, but it should be obvious we're talking about Pokemon here.

Clearly based on Breadcat, I don't even get how this is a completely alternate "universe".

I wouldn’t be too bothered to add some Media Moderators just because it’s such a bare-bones minimum position. Basically the only power you’ll be adding is removing images and moving between entries, not something to give to the masses, but trustable to a few. And let’s face it, the Entry and Forum mods who got Media added later aren’t always the best we could get there. Basically the main reason some of us are suddenly into removing images are because others are doing the work for us.

I back this notion as well. I don't see the harm in bringing in a few extra media mods to help with this cleanup project so long as we choose the right candidates that have the right goals and ambitions to see these galleries fixed.

We're not talking more forum or entry moderators or anything like that. Our current roster of forum and entry mods are handling those areas just fine. We're talking media mods. Which is simply giving image cleanup powers to those most dedicated to image cleanup. I can name several people here who genuinely want to see more accurate, safer and more relevant galleries and have more time to focus on that than I do. If they are willing to take up the responsibility and get that done, then why not? Let them manage galleries with a set of guidelines on how we want galleries used and see how they do.

The bottom line is that this project, which began over just the cringeworthy gallery, is clearly segwaying itself towards a much bigger, more global issue: the messiness and clutter of image galleries overall and how they are managed.

That's a big job and we're going to need more hands on deck to deal with it. There's only so much time I can put forth with my own media powers and I'm supposed to be focused on forum management.

Yes. I can imagine. Yes we should do something about unrelated images and rule violation. But we are not one to judge the flooding or how can server handle this situation. Admins are one to judge. Since no one is extremely flooding them, it is kinda okay.
But i think this tagging is a real issue. There should be system tags for that. I actually love derpibooru's tagging system. It is way way better than danbooru's or other boru sites (even rule 34). You can easily find your image with multi tag searching. You can hide/spoiler whatever you don't want to see.

But of course: KYM is not an imagebooru. But i say: it would be really neat.

I can't remove stuff. The only button i see is Edit Image, and there's no "Remove" option anywhere

This list should show all folks with the right powers. Avoid page 1 though, those are long inactive mods (save Verbose and Brucker and maybe one or two who check KYM once a week).

We can also take a look at "Ruined Childhood" Gallery?
I have noticed few metas on Ruined Childhood. Despite metas have no relation with "ruined childhood" whatsoever, most of the gallery is just crappy artworks actually belong to "cringeworthy". Some of them are just "i don't like it so cringeworthy ruined childhood"
Is this gallery turning into "the second Cringeworthy"?

This is why we can't have nice things.

The gallery hasn't turned into a "second cringewhorty" yet, but
something must be done.

The main problem here are users and what they consider relevant. If we focus on that, maybe, we could stop all this problems for once.

Unlocking and bumping by user request.

(Also editing the title a bit to avoid confusion with the discussion thread.)

Could I perhaps ask why? A lot of the consensus and mod decision seems to be that it's beyond cleaning up, unless its just for cleaning the locked gallery.

I'm not against that last part, the need for this thread to be reopened just confuses me.

Some users still believe the gallery contains too much non-cringe stuff, something we can all undoubtly agree on, and they wished to do another cleanup.

That's why this thread was reopened, to report the stuff that needs to be cleaned.
