Jeane says it doesn't count towards your amount shown on your profile though. I haven't done this yet and don't plan to.

Even if it doesn't add to your own amount, up-voting yourself gets you more karma, as more users will tend to follow suit giving karma to those with at least one.

That's my theory, anyway.
