Testing out a couple of rods and some lures that I bought from those buy and sell groups on Facebook. I am not familiar with freshwater fish so I was hoping someone here can assist in identifying this type:

I don't have anymore pictures as I let the fish go after I took a snap.

It looks like one you can find in the water.

What region/body of water were you in? That'll help immensly given the wide variety of fish species that are out there.

You're right on the wrong forum post. I had no idea where to post this as this is somewhat last minute. But Somewhere on the Tennessee/Kentucky area is my location, but it is definitely not bass or trout from the looks of its fins.

Judging from the dorsal fins and color, I'd say it's a Freshwater Drum.

Got confirmation from the neighbors that it is indeed a drum. He wouldn't recommend eating them, though. Too bony and not much meat.
