Blasphemy Laws

So Ireland is attempting to charge Stephen Fry with Blasphemy.

Blasphemy…… as a criminal charge.

Anyone else think this is a retarded "sharia" move on the part of the Irish Government and that blasphemy laws have no place in society.

I will agree there, that kind of thing shouldn't fly today. It shouldn't be a crime to say what he said (which does seem a bit like it was pulled out of an atheism subreddit, but that's irrelevant). And to be reported under the Defamation Act under it… it shouldn't count. No matter your view on it: If God doesn't exist, then no one's being defamed but a concept. And if He exists, it's not our duty to judge men who speak of him in that way.
