If more titles were made/revamped, what would you want added/changed?

I know we have lots of great titles to earn already. That doesn't mean it has to stop there and this thread could lead to improvements in future title updates if there are more. Are there any additional titles you believe should be added? Any titles you believe should be tweaked? Post below your thoughts on how the titles could be built upon and improved.

In my opinion, I think the titles in general should more closely resemble the way entry titles work. For entry titles, 4 of the 5 upgrades after Sleuth are double or roughly double the former. This makes sense, a simple "double what you did last time" formula. However, the others are just… weird.

Neither of these systems makes sense to me. They aren't roughly exponential, they aren't linear, they're just everywhere.

If this made no sense to you, I decided to whip up a quick chart to show, visually, why it makes no sense.

They aren't linear, or exponential, which is how you would expect any regular sort of system like this to work.

Just had a thought and this'd only apply to people with special titles/mods. Instead of giving special titles, replace all of those with special badges with a label below them. Instead of giving mod titles, just alter the badges so that there is a distinct short bit of text below them saying if the user is a mod. This way, titles such as Digital Archaeologist and Elocutionist won't be removed in the process of becoming a moderator. I know it seems like a small thing but I'd personally prefer keeping all my titles and having the mod titles just be clearly labelled badges instead of losing all my titles just to have one mod title anyone could've seen in the badges list anyway.

As a mod and someone with a special title, I disagree with this idea.

Besides, that's the idea of mod titles, point out that the user in question is a mod…

i think it would be interesting to add new titles that are gained by posting in certain forums a certain number of times. for example:
Fun Lover: post in the Just For Fun forums X number of times
Professional Shitposter: post in Riff-Raff forums X number of times
Gamer: post in the Videogames forums X number of times
Curious: post in the Q and A forums X number of times

or something like those. there could also be a title for starting a certain number of topics maybe.

Sorta related to this kinda, I had an idea of making it to where you would automatically get a badge for uploading images to 1,000 different galleries. Something like "memetically diverse" or similar name. This would encourage users to actually use galleries correctly and seek out different things to upload. This would require admin work however, and I think quite a bit of it too, so this idea may be impractical.

Repeat this idea in the next thread I'm going to make as that is a good idea.

They aren't linear, or exponential, which is how you would expect any regular sort of system like this to work.

This was done intentionally to give a constant flow of titles to the casual user, yet at the same time a worthwhile final reward to our dedicated users to show we appreciate all their work.

Hell, this is how it was before the new titles: 10 > 25 > 100 > 1000

And then it'd stop, while we had users who long had reached 5 times the highest amount, who had to suffer with the same title as our casual users.

Users who work on entries are few and inbetween, and the ones who excell at it are modded 75% of the time, so there was less need to create a final reward tier there.

Now understand why we have these odd formulas?

I know it seems like a small thing but I’d personally prefer keeping all my titles and having the mod titles just be clearly labelled badges instead of losing all my titles just to have one mod title anyone could’ve seen in the badges list anyway.

Threw up a reply to this in the other thread for a solution.

But in a regular reply to the idea I disagree with this.

I am a mod, have a custom title, and 2 badge-related tites; this places me at quads. Add all the regular titles to that, and I got 8 titles (!!!). That's insanity.

Given, I am the exception, as I'm the only one who made it that far, but there's a limit on how much titles one should have before it becomes an obstruction.

In that reply to me I think you missed the point of what I said. I was arguing the mod titles should not be included in the titles and be displayed as badges, which would actually reduce how many of your titles would be displayed. You are a special case to this as you have fake titles instead of mod titles, and in response to this new case, I would say fake titles should be replaced with fake badges, and the ACTUAL titles should be displayed instead.

Does this mean I am not LEGAL after all?

I'll ask you show some respect in a suggest ideas thread.

As for the difference between fake and actual titles, actual refers to rank-based while fake would just be titles supplied for the hell of it or because of winning a competition.

Those are called custom titles.

If you ask me, Mod and Custom titles should not be replaced. I don't see any real and logical reason to change them for normal titles and you do not provide one either.

Thus, I disagree with this idea.

Er, no. If this was the case why not go with a roughly exponential set of titles, instead of this haphazard mess? 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2,500, 5,000, 10,000 makes much more sense for this purpose.

Also, mod titles should totally stay. People knowing we're a mod is a bit more important than knowing how many images we've uploaded.

just wanted to post that i liked this idea

maybe switch up the names, but i think badges about forum posting is a good idea since it's a piece of the site along with entries and images

I'm still up for that debating badge.

I don't know if we should add that one or not… but that's debatable.

Personally I'd love a badge for posting a large sum of posts about politics.

Meant title. Too late to edit that in within the 30 minute timeframe.

Personally I’d love a badge/title for posting a large sum of posts about politics.

Yes, keep your suggestions open to the general public. Same thing I told Gaben in the other thread.

Yeah, so, while this is clearly posted to focus on Eypc and his ego I don't think this would really be unreasonable. Work on a bunch of/ focus on politically based entries and/or post a great deal in political based threads while acting appropriately and I think it's fine.

I’ll ask you show some respect in a suggest ideas thread.

"Full retard" is internet slang, I'm not gonna stop using slang on a memesite just because you don't know your memes. (Zing!)

Variety with custom titles is limitless, we're not gonna make a badge for each joke custom title just because you're jelly of our swag. (Double Zing!)

Fill up the gaps I guess.

Posts is intentionally higher (10k) than media (5k) for final title, because posting is a shitton easier than uploading media. Which was another thing we took into consideration: effort.

Yes, keep your suggestions open to the general public. Same thing I told Gaben in the other thread.

It is a general suggestion, as Wyn only shitposts about his Sanders dicksucking and posts nothing political with substance to make him a candidate for the badge. (Triple Zing!)
