Looks like some fire. Obviously Flareon is so unsalvageable, they've just made a replacement Fire type evolution.

…Uh, no. Flareon will be "salvaged" as soon as they give it some decent physical attacks. coughFlareBlitzcough

They've given Flareon the shaft for so long with its woefully mismatched stats and moves. The only time Flareon was ever any good was Gen 1 because of the Special stat being rolled into one. I'd honestly love it if Flareon got Flare Blitz. Gen 5 gave it Flame Charge to help with its bad speed, now it just needs some power behind it. I'd even settle for Blaze Kick. Jolteon gets Double Kick, so why not?

Hell, why don't they release an event Flareon with Flare Blitz at least?
I dear hope to god they release good moves upon Flareon on this upcoming generation. I stood away from Flareon since Gen 2. It's too hard to breed a Flareon with Fake Tears and reduce Sp.Def so that it's moves actually become of use. Sometimes, I just let Flareon take hits when I fight a tough foe to revive one of my other Pokemon.

Flareon doesn't deserve this kind of heartless punishment, and I hope Ninfia/Nympheon doesn't suffer the same way.

Oh my god, I've just found a Theory for Pokemon X and Y that actually seems legit.

Not only is this plausible, it also means Ninfia could be a Light type, Which if you think about would make much more sense then a Flying type.

So what do you think about Sound and Light Pokemon?

._.; They're actually going to do it?!!? Color me surprised.

No. No. A thousand times no.

I have a question. Why are some people here opposed to adding new types? I'd much rather have a couple new types every few generations than 100+ more Pokémon each generation.

Pokémon is going to be The monster-catching game for years and years more, and its formula will likely always be your turn-based battling, random encounter, 8 minor bosses with a final boss(es) RPG setup.

I actually look forward to having to break out a different way to train and battle with my party.

Whilst I agree with you, I beleive the argument of the people opposed to new types are those who beleive the current system is balanced. In other words, people who like fighting and dragon types.

Also, the name of new Eeveelution confirmed for Sylveon or something. I beleive this points to bug type, but it may be something else. Though a bug and a fighting Eeveelution would be good, as they both resist each other.

A couple of those attacks look like they could very well be light-based; I'm assuming that was a Swift there at the end, so maybe we'll see some retconned moves as well.

I'm actually all for new types. C'mon, we haven't had any since second gen. Do you really think that a new type or two is going to ruin the game? A fresh couple types could be all the variety Pokémon needs to stay interesting if done right. And Sylveon is pretty adorable, as an added bonus.

Images are all embiggened here.

Also, I really have to say I'm liking the battle graphics thus far. Maybe not so much the overworld or characters, but the battles definitely.

Yeah, there are definitely imbalances. Ice has a severe lack of resistances, Poison is only super effective on Grass of all things, Grass has way too many weaknesses and is resisted by a crapload of types (which in turn makes Poison look even more useless by having the sole thing it's good at offensively be utterly redundant), and I'm not sure where to begin with Water. Yes, I know Ice is a good offensive type and Poison's a good defensive type, but still, Ice-types are very seldom used by competitive players.

I actually like that Dragon is only super-effective on itself and only resisted by Steel. It makes Dragon-type moves a good fallback to use against a group of Pokémon without glaring shared weaknesses.

I think there has been an event Flareon with Flare Blitz – no, wait, I'm thinking of Entei.

I just need to level them up to 50 and a surefire way do beat the tournament 9 more times. I also hate the fact that Wake's Quagsire is faster than my Jolteon. WHY IN THE WORLD, IS THE QUAGSIRE, QUICKER THAN MY JOLTEON?!

I don't like how they EV trained their Pokemon, and had the best choice of items.

Also, if you want a ton of useful shards, lose to the PWT, they'll serve you a consolation prize of any type. Blue being the most common.

A Quagsire outrunning a Jolteon… what?!? How can that happen if they're at the same level?!? The gap in Base Stats should easily outweigh anything Natures, EVs, and IVs can do… Let's see, Jolteon's absolute minimum Speed at level 50 is 121, and the absolute maximum speed of Quagsire at the same level is 95. So, yeah…

But wait… what if Quagsire is holding a Choice Scarf? 95 * 1.5 = 142.5, which can be rounded down to 142. Well, that would certainly explain how a Quagsire can outrun a Jolteon… at least at Level 50.

Also, just because this is too funny to be lost to the ether of deleted RAM when my computer is turned off…

This is blasphemy! This is madness!!

I don't know if Gamefreak has ever announced anything through E3, but it would be interesting to see if they did.

I do think it's weird that I the trailer for the games playing in Best Buy. The game comes out in October, shouldn't they wait till a closer time to the release day to show it in stores?

I love images like this where all of the characters within a game or game series are interacting with each other. Pokémon is probably one of the best universes for that.

Another I just came across

Everyone's in this thread debating Sylveon, talking abut X and Y, and discussing new Pokemon types, and I'm just sitting here on Heartgold, grinding in desperation to beat the Elite Four a second time, playing on a DS whose hinge broke off that I also just lost the charger to.

On a somewhat related note, does anyone else have a crush on Whitney?

@Mack

Actually…

The last Pokémon thing I've done was beat the Elite Four for the second time. I wanted to keep training, because I knew Lance's team (level 68-75) would run me over, and I didn't want to use items and keep reviving my team in order to win.

However, level 50-52 Pokémon at max don't do much in terms of grinding, gym leader rematches aren't able to be triggered quickly enough, and the regular trainer battles are even more time consuming in terms of flying to get to them and flying back to either Mt. Silver or Cerulean Cave than just camping at Mt. Silver or Cerulean Cave.

But I still give it a crack here and there, because I once…just once, want to beat Red without items in SoulSilver.

I know you feel this feel that I feel, Mack.

As for Whitney, she's a'ight, I guess.

But in terms of gym leaders, you just can't beat DOGARS.

Just can't.

As for leaders I feel comfortable about having a crush on:

@Verbs

If I didn't know that feel before, I certainly do now. It would be a glorious thing to be able to beat the Elite Four with no items. At the very most, just a few. But now that they've upped their levels, my Pokemon are kinda screwed. I've got two sets that I've trained to be in that mid range in terms of levels, but because I've used so many different ones through the course of the story (before any dedicated grinding took place) I'm sitting on a pretty wide range, from Level 44- 55. I used a different team in Kanto than Johto just on a whim, and now I've got quite a lot of grinding to do to make up for it.

Typically I like to let rematches pile up, then clear out a section of the map at a time. Takes a while, but it's better than fainting the same few Pokemon over and over again in and around Mt. Silver for the millionth time. None of this is helped by the fact that I can't make up my mind concerning which pokemon I want to train, nor am I patient enough to consider all of the strategies involved in my upcoming battles. I really play like I'm ten years old.

I'm shocked there's not very much Whitney love out there. I think she's awesome. Jasmine I just never really liked all than much. I mean, I don't hate her or anything, she just never really resonated with me.

Still though, she stuck out more than almost ALL of Hoenn's Gym Leaders.

One last thing: Does it bug anyone else that Rock/Ground is such a problematic type combination? I feel like a thug training my Rhydon and Golem, but as soon as I get into a battle with anything that knows a move within its like one billion weaknesses they always faint in one hit it seems.

Not a clue, Random 21.

Via 2ch boards according to Serebii, and nothing's confirmed.

If I remember correctly, the Genesect film is about Mewtwo as well, so if this is legit…
..Could it be an actual Mewthree?

Probably is legit, as all the films have followed a pattern of "last film before a new gen features a next gen Pokémon". Although Ninty aren't Actually CONSIDERING A Mewthree are they? It seems a tad unoriginal.

Verbose wrote:

…Did you just call Nintendo "Ninty?"

You close with Nintendo like that, bruh?

Bad habit, and old habits die hard. Just an abbreviation a few Nintendo fans use.

So Pokémon Smash is airing now. ANNOUNCEMENT TIME.

Mewthree confirmed. Or at least a new form. A lot of people on the stream agree that Ninty (YES I WILL CONTINUE SAYING NINTY FUCK THE POLICE) jumped the shark with this one.

Whether Mewthree is just another clone of Mew like Mewtwo (and with that follow the standard, every legendary duo must have a missing third bro), or more like a new form of Mewtwo (like Shaymin has two forms) is up for question. I doubt it's an evolution, given that Legendaries don't commonly evolve but get new forms or a third bro.

I love pokemon as much as the next man but over my many years of playing, it has dawned on me how messed up a lot of the concepts are.
First of all, you're a ten year old who is sent to explore a country and capture wild animals for 'research' by some random professor, when you complete the first pokedex they give you the expanded version and reveal they had a complete one all the time! They are level 100 trolls.
Second, there's the battling; you force animals which were previously in spherical prisons to violently attack other animals until they are knocked out. You also receive money from trainers when you win suggesting the whole thing was a mugging.
Thirdly there's the pokemon center, nurse joy says 'hope to see you again' which is basically saying 'hope your animal friends get injured in a fight!'
Finally there's the breeding mechanic, which is a garden where pokemon are forced to have sex whilst being watched by an old couple who demand money to get them back (which is kidnapping).
Oh yes and you can feed pokemon all you want but never allow them to go to the toilet.

We wouldn't want it any other way.
Pokemon Ranger is a good alternative, however.
