Hmm…. Interesting question.

I think it might be based on a striped hyena.

As for Random's question, my expectations are that I hope it keeps the improvements that B/W 1 did such as infinite TMs, people that heal you so you don't have to trudge all the way back to a Pokemon Center and no unnecessary uses of HM moves so you don't have to waste move slots or Pokemon slots on an HM slave.

Ok, new topic. This is getting out of hand.

What are your expectations on B&W 2?

I love spoilers, so I know most the story all ready. I won't spoil it for anyone but there are definately some big changes (At least when you compare it to things like Diamond and Pearl compared to Platinum) I expect that the other changes will be equally as big.

Platinum was just one of those third game things like Yellow, Emerald and such. Black and White 2 are full fledged sequels.

That was what I was trying to say. Instead of making a replica of the originals with a slightly tweaked storyline, they went for a full out new concept

Yep, kinda glad as well since Team Plasma dropped the PETAish deal and went straight into what they were trying to do, take over.

I was planning to buy Black or White 1, but with 2 getting closer and closer I decided to not buy it and just wait a bit longer. Can't say if it was a good idea or not based on how it's somewhat of a sequel. But the changes I heard the game is getting surely make me excited about it.

And let's not forget the female protagonist.

Those fucking buns man!

It's like they're hypnotising me!

Lol, Princess Leia if she were a Pokemon character.

Also Random, I'd recommend getting either Black or White 1 though before B/W 2, cause yeah, other then the improvements over the previous gens, it is a sequel and you'll probably be asking "wht?" when you come across things that are mentioned but you'll not know what's going on because of it.

….or something like that.

I think I'll just watch a walkthrough of it sometimes and skip straight to all the major plot points.

I have got the original 2 actually, And have beat the main game. Judging by what I have seen from this one, it is heavily based on the original Black and White.
P.S. is it odd that thee changes to the map get me excited?

EDIT: By the looks of things, you will have to battle the new Champion and not just the villain like last time.

I do as well. I've beaten Black, and I'm trying to work on White, hopefully before Black/White 2 come out.

And the villains are still there, obviously, but I don't want to spoil when you fight them for those who plan on getting the games and who don't want spoilers.

Also, unlike the musicals, I'm really looking foward to the PokeStar stuff, and there /might/ be spoilers in this video, but I'm not sure.

I absolutely hated the musicals, they made me want to go back to my diamond version to enter more pokemon contests. The Pokestar stuff looks cool if not…. random.

Oh and I'm just going to leave this here, because I can:

Heh, that comic reminds me of Joey and his top percentage of Rattata that he'd call and talk to you about in the most inapproprite places.

Though to be fair to Bidoof, it does make a good HM slave so you don't have to waste HMs on decent Pokemon.

Oh HMs, how I hate you.

I'm actually playing it right now through less than respectable means because I am quite proficient in the japanese language and legally imported the game online.

possible minor spoliers ahead
To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised. From the short 20 hours I've played it so far (well maybe not short), I've actually felt like this game was almost not redundant and unnecessary. It's actually a true sequel to the first games, instead of that cash grab third game Nintendo always makes to rake in the cash. It seems that the Unova region really has changed since BW. I mean, it's only been 2 years, and yet, it feels so different. You start out in a different town, the gyms are different, the cities are different, the wild pokemon are different, and even the things that stay around from the previous games (like the Desert Resort and Nimbasa City) feel different. They're actually quite small changes in retrospect, but they somehow give it a feel of fresh new game, even when it really isn't.

It feels a bit more refined than the original Black and White, while sticking to the tried and true "catch em all and get eight badges" formula that almost never gets stale for some reason. I especially like the inclusion of previous generation pokemon right from the start. It's refreshing, and they made pretty great choices about what to include. Brings back a lot of memories of my older teams from the previous pokemon games.

I don't know why I particularly like these new games. I've played White, although I never did bother beating the Elite Four. It's really most of the same stuff, and it's not like they've done anything majorly different from this installment of the never-ending pokemon games they put out every few years that I keep buying. It might be the slight air of familiarity mixed with the new, or should I say old, pokemon that they've included, or maybe it's something else. I didn't particularly care for White, which is why I was too lazy to beat it, but this time, it feels different. I guess Black and White 2 really delve into the archives of all the pokemon they've ever created in these past 15 years or something, and it feels like a culmination of the entire adventure we've had so far with these little animal creatures we call pokemon.

They're singing about Koffing btw.

Yep, hopefully they won't edit the song when they translate it, cause the song is pretty good, and I don't see how they could change it to Koffing since that's a lot longer then Dogars, even thought I do prefer the American name.

Maybe they can have the "Champ in the making" guy say "By, the way, I heard Dogars is Koffing's nickname in a far away place" or something like that.

There are a lot of tunes with singers in them:

btw, Not sure how Elesa's gym got from a roller coaster to a catwalk.

Yep, an annoying 3 month wait. Translations, Y U have to take so long?! Also…

Black Kyurem is totally boss, this is why my first version will be Black 2.

There is something else that bothers me about these series, well, about the games that have the GTS. Troll trades and having to see a Pokemon you want before you're able to trade for them.

Why, just why? How am I supposed to get that Vullaby when I can't find a trainer who has one in their party.

And don't get me started on the troll trades. Man, I do wish they'd overhaul the GTS.

WE HAVE SPOILER BUTTONS FOR A REASON

NOW I'M GOING TO HAVE TO AVOID THIS THREAD LIKE I AVOIDED THE KORRA GENERAL THREAD

Sorry, but like most features of the forum, the spoiler button eludes me on it's use. In other words, I don't know how to use it and it wasn't listed on the textile link there.

I have a few of those little figures. They're about the size of say, the MLP blindbags, and a few of them came with badges.

I don't think they're sold anywhere anymore unfortunately.

I have a bunch of the Jakks Pacific figures, they're really my brother's but I really like looking at certain ones, mainly Azelf, Riolu, Zorua, and Snivy. I really want them to make an Emolga one.

Oh we talking about Pokemon and racism now? Can't forget the ultimate BSer when it comes to that.

Of course Jynx didn't always look like that, but people in this day and age freak out over the littlest thing, so Jynx now looks like this.

Bah, that and the stupid changes to Heart Gold and Soul Silver's game corner. Voltorb Flip, I hate you so much.

God people get so worked up about this stuff, I mean, listen to this:

  • Jinx made purple because "Black is racist"
  • Casino involves gambling, which is illegal
  • In the anime, Lenora had to have her apron taken off, because it refers to a mammy archetype
  • A card named Koga's card trick, apparently had a left-facing swastika
  • In one episode, Team rocket raise their hands in a similar fasion to Hitler salute
  • In a registeel sprite, it raises it's hand like hitler salute
  • Just read this: " Some outspoken, fundamentalist Muslims claimed that Pokémon is a Jewish conspiracy that is intended to brainwash Muslim children to make them renounce their faith. These same groups claimed that the word "Pokémon" is a phrase that means "I am Jewish", with the claimers and their followers generally unaware of the franchise's Japanese origin. The "Evolution vs. Creationism" conflict was also commonly brought up" and tell me what you think
  • Pokemon battling is animal cruelty (wouldn't be shocked if PETA said that)
  • A psychic claimed Kadabra was a authorized parody of him. He claims "Nintendo turned me into an evil, occult Pokémon character. Nintendo stole my identity by using my name and my signature image."
  • For us Europeans, the slot machines in Platinum were unplayble because of gambling charges. Don't even get me started on how bad voltorb flip is
  • In 1999, as a promotion for Mewtwo Strikes Back, Burger King released a series of promotional toys in handheld Poké Balls with their Kids' Meals. After their son suffocated because he had covered his mouth and nose with half of the Poké Ball (why did he do that in the first place?), two parents set up a website named "Pokémon Kills".
  • A few episodes were considered bad because of violence (and not just that gun episode, there was one where misty slaps ash)

And now for the Christian arguments:

  • Pokémon are like demons. They are captured and must be called upon to perform tasks.
  • Magical talismans (supposedly a reference to Gym Badges) are needed to control them.
  • Pokémon evolve. Though this transformation is more akin to metamorphosis in most Pokémon, the theory of evolution is denied entirely by the most fundamentalist creationists, who believe that all things as they are presently were divinely inspired.
  • Some Pokémon evolution even requires the use of certain magical stones.
  • Many Pokémon have extraordinary paranormal powers, notably Psychic-types. Those with Psychic powers are labeled as having been given these powers by Satan in the Bible itself.
  • Many Pokémon embody or practice East Asian spiritual or mystical concepts, being that the franchise originated in Japan. Some Christian groups denounce these as pagan rituals.
  • Some claim that if one were to play backwards the Pokérap, "Gotta Catch 'em All!" can be heard as "I love Satan".
  • Some Pagan religions claim many Pokémon have similarities to many pagan spirits

This isn't even a joke

Don't forget one of the episodes of the anime getting cut here due to Team Rocket using guns, at least here in the US. hoof palm

It just astounds me at the stupidity concerning this franchise, well, not the franchise, but the controversy surrounding the franchise. If this series had came out in like, say the 80's, I doubt we'd be having as much trouble as we do now.

Oh, and for that PETA thing, yeah, my nickname for Team Plasma is Team PETA since, at least in the first Black and White, they act so much like PETA.

Borrowing from TV tropes:
In Pokémon Black and White, the villain team is Team Plasma. Their clothing is designed to evoke the armor of knights, and they even use a symbol used as a shorthand for Jesus's name as a symbol. And they allegedly want to "save" your Pokémon. Yep, the villain team are Christian radicals.

Team Plasma also turns out to be a scam set up by its leader so he can become the most powerful Pokemon trainer in the world once everyone else is powerless. Not helped in that Ghetsis's robes make him look a bit like The Pope.

Yeah, I know, but they've also been compared to a certain animal wrongs group that I already mentioned as well, right down to the hypocrisy and such.

Thankfully that's averted in B/W 2 where they just want to take over.

I have a new discussion topic.
I don't really know what the "official" name is, but what are your favorite "Group Pokemon"? By group, I mean The Regis, The Dogs, The Eeveelutions, Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan/Hitmontop, etc. etc.

I'd have to say my personal favorite group are the Eeveelutions or the Dogs (Raiku, Suicune, Entei).
What say you?
