So what would you guys say is a good moveset for a Scizor with perfect Attack IVs, Max EVs in Attack, Max EVs in Defence, and 6 EVs in Speed.?

I generally take the approach of "What can go wrong?"

With that said, I don't think Scizor can learn anything that can stop a Pokémon with a STAB Fire-move (and a plain Bullet Punch won't hit as hard against a Fire-type), and Ember is probably going to give Scizor some trouble. Flamethrower will ruin its day, Mega Evolved or not.

With that said, I would second Swords Dance. If you do run up against a Fire-type prepped with some moderately to very powerful Fire-move, then you'll have to hope that a Swords Dance-buffed Bullet Punch will just happen to hit hard enough for a subsequent revenge KO or that you've buffed three times, and nothing but a very raw priority move can stop you.

You might even consider Baton Passing some Attack boosts to Scizor so you don't have to leave it out there against something with decent enough Special Attack and a Special Fire-move

But on the whole, it's very hard to beat Scizor. It's defenses and typing ain't no joke.

There's a reason that ever since Platinum was released Scizor has been one of the most used, if not THE most used, Pokemon in the metagame.

Seriously, Scizor is ridiculously easy to use, just spam Bullet Punch. And it's the ultimate Fairy killer, especially since most Fairy types have higher special defense than physical defense.

Just because I can beat your Scizor doesn't mean everyone can.

Plus it was a double battle If one pokemon couldn't survive Scizor the other one will.

This was the battle.

Yeah, Ann can't help it you're SHIT at battling Calk.

sigh… okay I guess I'll give Scizor another chance. But I really need bug bite but Scizor only learns that in Gen V… well what do you guys think of this moveset X scissor, Roost, Swords Dance and Bullet Punch. This is the set i currently have on my Scizor

I recommend U-turn in place of Bug Bite. Because of it's Technician ability and Bug STAB, it's one of the few Pokemon that can use U-turn to inflict decent damage. Don't forget it can be utilized as an effective bait-and-switch strategy.

Also, Do not count out Scizor, as it's one of the most reliable counters to Fairy type Pokemon next to Aegislash. After just one Swords Dance, Bullet Punch OHKO's Xearneas; one of the most deadly Sp. Sweepers in the metagame right now.

Technician only works on moves with a base attack of 60 or less. U-turn has a base attack of 70, making Technician ineffective.

Bug Bite on the other hand has a base attack of 60, making Technician effective, and making Bug Bite a stronger move than X-Scizzor, which has a base attack of 80 and thus no Technician boost.

So if you want to have power, use Bug Bite. If you don't care and prefer the U-turn bait and switch, use that.

Well, here's my friend code: 2466-2777-8242

I have a fairy-type safari if anybody's interested.

I'm terrible at wi-fi battles. Like, really bad. I only focus on dealing damage, I don't really use any of those supportive strategies or anything.

If a guy named JH shows up in your friends list, that's me.

I just entered Adam's and CrustyClarinet's, but I may have to get in touch with others I've entered but haven't gotten onto their lists.

Pretty sure i said before, Scizor can only learn Bug Bite in Gen V. Any other replacements?

Scizor has three options for physical Bug-type STAB.

  • X-Scissor is a solid replacement at 80 base power. That's only 10 less base power than a Technician-boosted Bug Bite.
  • Fury Cutter got a boost this generation to 40 base power (60 with Technician), and will double in power on each successful hit. It has imperfect accuracy, however.
  • U-turn is a good replacement at 70 base power. It should not be used unless switching is a part of your strategy.

Of these three, I would personally choose X-Scissor. It combines perfect accuracy and immediate power for a strong, reliable Bug-type STAB move.

Coolio, thanks

Added everyone who has posted their FC here. If you want my FC, it's 3754-6434-2416. And thanks to another user here, I can confirm that the type my Friend Safari has is Ghost, with the only two Pokémon I know you can find thus far are Lampent and Pumpkaboo.

Also, I ABSOLUTELY WANT A FUCKING PROTEAN FROAKIE!

I have one I got from a wonder trade I'd be glad to give you. It has a Bold nature, which obviously isn't great, but you could always breed it with Ditto; I think there's a 50/50 chance that the offspring will end up with its hidden ability.

Could you imagine if Scizor could learn Fell Stinger? He'd be so overpowered if he could.

Fell Stinger would be quite an interesting move for Scizor. While the 40 power only goes up to about 60 (and then 90 with STAB), the +2 Atk boost is very attractively, making it sort of like a pseudo-Moxie. It's too bad that Scizor can't learn it, or I'd have some testing to do. It might be just a gimmick, or it might not be. Who knows?

Yeah, I think Game Freak purposely gave Fell Stinger to mostly crappy Pokemon to make them a little more powerful, although Drapion and Escavalier are decent. Full list is here if you're interested:

Also, Scizor doesn't really have a stinger, unless…it's somewhere Nintendo doesn't want to tell us…

I know how the Everstone works, but the Clawitzer I bred with a Ditto didn't have a Modest nature, and I have Pokemon Y so I couldn't fish for one.

Dragon-type Friend Safari seems to be fairly rare. I have well over 30 different Safaris, and only one is Dragon-type.

I personally don't have any Dragon Friend Safaris, but if you're interested, there's a Subreddit specifically dedicated to trading Friend Safaris.

With the Pokemon Bank's official release date in about two weeks, I thought I would take it upon myself to explain what it is for those of you who aren't too familiar with it.
It's basically a Cloud-like storage system that allows you to store Pokemon in it. As long as they are in this virtual bank, they will never be lost, so if you start a new game or lose your game cartridge, you will still have access to them.

According to the official Pokemon X and Y Website:
-You are given 100 boxes with 30 slots each, for a total of 3000 Pokemon available to be stored at any given time.
-A search function is available, where you can find stored Pokemon based on their type, nature, and markings.
-A separate application called Poke Transporter is also included with the Pokemon Bank. This allows Pokemon from Pokemon Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 to be transferred from their respective cartridges onto the Poke Transporter, which in turn can be transported to the Poke Bank. Like Poketransfer from previous games these Pokemon cannot be returned to their previous game cartridges once transferred. In addition, Pokemon transferred to Poke Transfer cannot be holding any items, and Pokemon with illegal modifications or obtained through illegal methods will not be allowed to be transferred.
-The Pokemon Bank is a paid service. To use it there is an annual fee of $4.99 (~£3.06 or €3.63). However, there is currently a free trial of the app running until January 31st, at which time users will be charged to continue using it.

According to this video:
-Storing Pokemon in the Pokemon Bank will earn you Pokemiles, or alternatively, Battle Points if you so choose.
-Bringing certain Pokemon into X and Y from 5th Generation games will trigger certain events in the new games, though Nintendo has not given specific details as to what yet.

That's all the information I have on the Pokemon Bank at this time, but if you guys know anything that I may have missed, feel free to add on.

So i was looking at the klefki (his name is dovahkin in case you were wondering) i caught a few days ago, and noticed it had a calm nature. I think with with the proper EV spread, leftovers, and that delicious priority dualscreens It should be able to take quite a beating. Throw in priority thundershock and foulplay for some damage, and it should be able to take out even the dreaded megachomp and talonflame.

Edit:

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/oubeta-70095956

First test run with 220 Health, 220 Def, 38 S.Def, spread seems to have gone well. Managed to 1HKO Aegislash in the first 2 turns with foulplay after setting up reflect and effectively ignoring the pittance of damage it dealt thanks to leftovers. After that, with the help of some INCREDIBLE luck regarding thundershock, i was able to decimate MegaKangaskhan's health with only a dent in Klefki's health to show for it. I think Klefki would have died in 2-3 turns if not for static, but even in that case it managed to take a sizable chunk of health off MegaKhan in only 2 moves.

Over all seems promising but one sample does not a test make, so back to the ol' grind.

Round 2

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/oubeta-70101369

Things are still looking up for the Dohvahkin. This match started off against a Megalucario, which being a fighting/steel type is a bit of an even type match up for most Klefki, but for this set up is kinda shitty since its only attack is Dark type, but The DovahKin will not be deterred. Round 1 starts with with the opponent, feeling safe in the knowledge that no mere Klefki's meager attack stats and limited attack move pool could not hope to even dent his mighty Megalucario, boosting himself with sword dance. Unfortunately for him this is no mere Kelfki, this is The Dohvakin he's messing with, and a x2 427 Atk foulplay is going to hit like a GOD. DAMN. TRUCK. Even against Megalucario.

Next round goes a little differently than I expected, with Lucario immediately springing into a Close Combat, but Klefki was able to tank the hit like a boss thanks to glorious nippon steel Reflect damage reduction. Now comes turn 3 and, due to static on Lucario, Klefki gets to go first barreling along in that truck I was talking about earlier, and on top of all that "Lucario is paralyzed and unable to move." Turn 4 and Lucario is now thoroughly doomed, thanks to static. Realizing his last hope of victory, Lucario uses Extreme Speed to try and last hit Klefki with a priority move, unfortunately for him Klefki gives no fucks and that spells the end for Megalucario.

SHARP LIKE KATANA. METAL FOLDED OVER 1000 TIMES. CAN CUT THROUGH ANYTHING. GAINJIN GO HOME.[/spoiler]

I was on the GTS and trying to trade a Seadra holding a Dragon Scale for another Seadra with a Dragon Scale so that both me and the other trader would both have Kingdras, but I ended up getting one without a Dragon Scale. My only other option was to trade a rare Pokémon I have but don't want for a Kingdra. So for trade I put up the Greninja I initially had for completing the Dex, but didn't want because I don't like it's evolutionary line. I checked back on the GTS, and the trade worked, but something I never expected happened…

THE KINGDRA I GOT WAS SHINY!

Dohvakin Round 3

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/oubeta-70116516

Alas, Klefki is kill.

thum this if u cry evertim
Evidently Sunnyday boosted Mega Charizard is just too hot to handle, and Klefki died in 2 turns. Still an impressive feat considering it was a sunnyday boosted super effective STAB flamethrower from Mega Charizard, and Klefki did manage to lay down a lightscreen and land a Thunderwave before it was taken out so i guess it still did its job. I'll call this one a neutral point.

Round 4

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/oubeta-70120927

This match goes much better. Despite being put to sleep by Carbink …. and me messing up the timing on reflect, Klefki was still able to pull it together and kill Dragonite. Unfortunately Mega Charizard was next in line and we all know how that song ad dance goes. At least Klefki managed to paralyze and dent Charizard before he went down, so overall win for your team.

Now that I'm done with school for the year, I finally have some time to raise some Pokémon. The first one on my list? I plan on breeding my main game Blastoise with a Ditto until I end up with a female Squirtle. Then, I plan on training a Clauncher I received from a trade, evolve it into a Clawitzer and teach it Aura Sphere for an Egg move of Squirtle, and then breed the two together.

The one thing that I'm having trouble on deciding is whether to have the offspring from the two have either Dragon Pulse (from Clawitzer) or Ice Beam. Ice Beam has a stronger base power and is a great move against Flying, Grass, and Dragon types. Dragon Pulse, while being a bit weaker than Ice Beam and only being super effective against Dragon, gets a boost in power when Blastoise Mega Evolves.

So which move should I choose: Ice Beam or Dragon Pulse?

I actually just did the same exact thing, and I ended up breeding both Aura Sphere and Dragon Pulse into a Squirtle. After training it for awhile, I found that I barely used it at all. It's a tough decision since Mega Blastoise has Mega Launcher, but my recommendation would be to either teach it both like I did and have the other two moves be Ice Beam and Water Pulse, or forget Dragon Pulse all together and teach it Ice Beam instead. That would leave you with an extra move; I'd recommend either Dark Pulse or Rapid Spin if you plan on using it competitively.

If i were you, i would go for Ice beam then DP, since DP is super efective to only dragons while the mega launcher buff is nice and all, ice beam is super efective to more threats for our turtle like grass types and its super efective againts dragons.
