Well guys, I managed to complete the National Dex in Omega Ruby. It was tedious as fuck, and I never intend to do it again, but it feels good to accomplish one of the main goals of Pokemon.

Now that you mention it… After a long break, I started trying to get one of every Pokemon… Even the pre evos… And all things considered I appear to have every evolutionary family save the Vulby line (the vulture one), my dex says 577 caught, and my boxes only have a few gaps here and there.

Unrelated, at one point I noticed how many uneeded duplicates I had and tried to wonder trade (kind of a pointless erand at this point), and of all things… I ended up with one of those Japanese Event Yveltals. Those Shiny ones!

Of course… I don't know WHY anyone would wonder trade away that, so I'm skeptical of its true origins.

I'd post a picture if anyone wants, but if not… I'll leave it at this, since I'd have to figure out how to get my web cam working.

Do what I did. Pull up into the parking lot and get your Hoopas without even going in then drive away.

You can get a Hoopa for each copy of OR, AS, X, or Y you own, and they all have at least three perfect IVs. I got me two, one with near perfect all around IVs and one that's slow a molasses that might be either traded or put on a Trick Room team.

Once you get Hoopa, go into a PokeMart (ORAS only) with Hoopa in team and listen to the guy tell his Hash-slinging Slasher Ripoff Fan-fiction to get the Prison Bottle, he stands next to the counter.

@Hoopa
>Lives in Australia
>Probs can't get Hoopa for that reason
>Probs not gonna be another Diancie Event
>No sign of Volcanion coming any time soon

Well… I have terrible luck with Event Pokemon this time round… I used to have ALL the Event Pokemon, but NOPE not this time.

"Hash-Slinging Slasher Ripoff"

That's actually a rather apt way of putting it.

Do you have a North American Game? If you do, you can change your Wifi name to "McDonalds Free WiFi" to get a Hoopa. You have to make sure it's the only connection.

If you don't, If you have a spare Event Pokemon, I got two Hoopas, so I could trade you one through PMs

So… I almost finished the entire Pokedex yesterday (Besides Diancie and Volcanion, I'm only missing Milotic… Stupid berries) so I decided to breed some Fenekin while I wait for the GTS to sort out the last bit.

Long story short, I ended up with a 6 Perfect IV Fenekin rather than a 5 Perfect IV Fenekin. With all things considered it will make a great breeding tool. Its also Modest. So lucky me.

Next up… Assuming the Milotic comes through… Maybe I'll try breeding for a shiny one… If I had a 5 perfect IV foreign Fenekin.

Side note: Anybody know of some kind of calculator to help figure out what the odds of how many Perfect IVs will be passed on given a certain pairing?

(Edit: Just checked my GTS, turns out someone DID decide to trade me a Milotic.)

(Last Minuite edit: I feel like I need someone to use a Soldier from TF2 phrase meme… Something like "I have done nothing but breed Fenekin for 3 days!")

Speaking of Catching Them All™, we're getting distributions of all of the mythical Pokemon.

Mew
Darkrai
Genesect

All of 'em.

The first is Mew going from February 1st though February 24th at GameStop. Since I had the first generation of games, being able to live in an area with game stores that distribute Mew is going to be pretty neat. I hope the Earth's orbit doesn't deteriorate to the point that we spin off to a frozen demise or into a sun-scorched death before we can get it.

…and it comes with Pound!

…Pound, guys!

what a moveset uber for sure maybe mega rayquaza tier pls nerf

Speaking of Catching Them All™, we’re getting distributions of all of the mythical Pokemon.

Yay!

at GameStop

Fuck!

I'd been hoping they would all be over Wi-Fi. At least 7 of them will be, but my chance at getting a legit Mew or Arceus for once is basically screwed. I can never get to GameStop, and AFAIK there isn't even one at all near the college I'm attending.

Oh well. At least I'll get Jirachi.

Well, fortunately for me, I live in a town with 3 GameStops, and I have three versions of the game among X, Y, and AS. I also have 2 3DS systems between the New XL and the original.

So I should be able to get at least 2 of each Pokemon, but I'm not sure. But if I can, remind me via PM (preferably just before February 1st,) and I'll see if I can round a Mew up for you.

More Event Pokémon for my horde?! YAY!

But then… Australia… Gamestop is not quite the same here… Here its called EB games and doesn't do all the things.

But hey… Apparently we're getting a Hoopa distribution here next week. Which is cool. I mean, I already have one because I traded with Ryu, but hey. The more the merrier.

>Has both X and AS.
>I'll end up with 3 Hoopas!

Totes gonna be a good year!

Now if only they'd announce the next game.

I really haven't been up to date with the games at all
last one I actually owned was the original white
after playing the ORAS demo I was sitting there like

seriously, the difference is like the jump between Gen 2 and 4, it's insane to me.

New Corocoro Issue has been leaked.

Currently, the issue states that Braixen, Garchomp, and Mewtwo has been confirmed as playable characters for Pokken.

The rest of the issue just talks more about the plot for the upcoming Pokemon movie.

ballstothewall wrote:

Yes, I'm literally missing only Manaphy and Shaymin and then I have the Dex complete until Gen VII comes out

Barring the unreleased Volcanion you mean.

Other than that, great job. Considering you said "until gen 7" rather than "until Pokémon Z", I'm going to guess you also have a copy of each pre-evolution as well. But if not… You may want to get on top of that, regardless of if its Gen 7 or Pokémon Z coming next.

/Captain Obvious.

Meanwhile… I now have 22 Male Eevee with 5 IV each I don't need, 13 of which have the right nature for those IVs… All because I wanted 4 Female ones.

I succeeded at getting those Females by the way.

Next I want to breed for a good Lucario,,, Which compared to Fenekin and Eevee is going to be annoying to breed… Even without trying to get a girl. Because of reasons involving Riolu's Egg Group… Or should I say "Lack of" egg group.

Que guy coming in with the "I know that feel" meme.

So Pokémon unveiled the Soup Ball commercial they paid approximately enough money to sustain the homeless population of Arizona for 2 years.

There's no specific mention of Pokémon GO, no mention of new games, and no mention of any real product. Pokkén, Red/Blue…nothing.

…so what's Pokémon's game here?

(If you're me, you're extremely excited though. I want to see what others think though.)

Verbose:

…so what’s Pokémon’s game here?

It's "Game" is simply to reinforce the memetic advertising its had in the west since they debuted 20 years ago… A phrase they want us to keep repeating regardless of context, if only because it reminds us of them.

"I want to be the very best! Like no-one ever was!"

Though you'll note, if they used that exact phrase, it was subtle. In this sense, its trying to nurture the subconscious message to spread from being just one phrase that only pops up once every so often, to virtually every degree of competitiveness.

In other words, its trying to slightly nudge the message from being "Pokémon = Ambition" to "Pokémon = Competition" in general. So that realize it or not, Pokémon will come to mind no matter what kind of activity you're doing.

That's the real genius of advertising, good advertising is subtle enough to know that you only need to suggest a connection between your product or franchise and a fairly common concept, and suddenly every time that concept shows up we suddenly remember their product for reasons unknown to us.

To be fair though, you may be asking why Pokémon is making an add not specific to a product… Well… Advertising a specific product is not how Super Bowl advertising works, not normally anyways. They have to pay a fortune for a mere 30 seconds… This is the moment when more people are watching the same thing than any other time… So they need to make their message as relevant long term as possible so that the message continues to work for them longer.

So really, Pokémon is just advertising their franchise, because that's what works when you advertise at that event.

Hey, remember that detective Pikachu game announced like a milion years ago? It's finally shown its face again:

I have three immediate problems with this:
1: This Pikachu in both dress and voice is meant to resemble Sherlock holmes… But last I checked, the pop cultural depictions of Sherlock Holmes are Tall, Slender, and Gentlemanly. Pikachu does not LOOK like that… At all. Pikachu looks like a short chubby youth with a rock star attitude.
2: Shouldn't a Pokémon detective be a Psychic type? Meowstick would have made a better choice of Pokémon Detective.
3: @ 0:43-0:50 Derpiest looking animation EVER! Like… Why even? The animation afterwards doesn't derp like that!

Other than that… Sounds cool… Would totes play… It fills the void that is left by the fact new Ace Attorney game take forever to translate.

Remember to get your Mew for your Gen VI games from GameStop if you're in the States.

I was expecting to have to ride to three different stores to get a Mew for each of my three games. But the guy at the counter just asks me "OK. How many codes do you need?"

…what I'm trying to say is that I have 28 Mew now.

…Verbose, that's… kind of not cool. The codes are hard to get to begin with, why get 28? I mean shit, when I went to get my Hoopa the lady told me they had to limit it to one per person since people kept getting multiple codes and selling them :/. And I still didn't get the physical code. I still had to call up nintendo for one (which works btw, and they're super nice about it~)

@Calkarot

I got 3. One for each Gen VI game I have. I was joking.

It's true that I only needed one, but

I can never get to GameStop, and AFAIK there isn’t even one at all near the college I’m attending.

So that's my intention. I felt like one for each game was fair, I rarely fight with any Legendaries, and I wanted to have a couple for those friends who forgot or couldn't get one.

If anybody can't get to a GameStop, I have two extra Mew codes. You can have one for a HA water female I don't have or a 5IV male in a breeding group I don't have, or if you've got a non-ENG game any 4-6IV male would be awesome.

I'm still kind of mad about that Superbowl Commercial. It was awesome but I was hoping they'd promote or announce something on the one that aired during the actual show. I mean I'm pumped for Pokken and the inevitable Pokemon Z announcement and Pokemon Go and with that said I'll actually quit complaining like an entitled brat.

{ Where do you see Lickylicky in that? }

It's obtuse and pink and has yellow belly stripes.

I can't stop seeing it as a Klink-rabbit is sitting on the head of a short, pudgy, obese Lickilicky/Deoxys abomination with dango pigtails.

Don't know why but I see some Elgyem / Beheeyem influence in that Pokemon, but that gear makes it like a Steel type.

@Eglamore

Seems kinda soon for Gen 7, but 6.5 would be a bit weird too. Can't wait to find out what this thing actually is

I think it looks like a hybrid of Mega Gardevoir to an extent.

Anyways, there's one set of Katakana syllables that's repeated twice prominently, which I assume is this thing's name:

Magiana!

The meaning behind its name might be something along the lines of Magic and Gear.
Based on the complexity of design, its probably gonna be a gen 7 event Pokémon, which brings up possible legends such as, given its design, it may be the Pokémon that first inspired people to make Pokéballs, and likely has something to do with not only the origin of technology in the Pokémon world, but likely can create special distortions.

Moving into more wild speculative territory, there's also the fact its mid section has a couple of arrow like portions like a clock on the face of its (also Pokéball shaped) torso. This combined with the now ubiquitous connection between gears and clocks, to the point that some call devices powered by gears "clockwork", and one could assume it also has Time powers.

Taking it all into account… While a stretch, its possible to conclude that it has a connection to Dialga, and Palkia. Mainly in the sense it make have come about from the attempts of people trying to imitate their abilities, and may even be the key to helping Dialga and Palkia achieve a more powerful form.

I somehow doubt this conclusion… Considering its effectively like trying to say "Sinnoh confirmed", despite that being an almost nonsense-ical conclusion at this point… But its not the weirdest thing that could happen.

Now excuse me while I go chastise myself for letting my speculation get out of hand,

Is Gen VII here, or does this subscribe to the "6.5" theory some people have been talking about?

It's a new Generation since this a new Pokemon, doubt it will happen anytime soon, wait till next year for the new gen to arrive

ActivistZero wrote:

I bet we'll start getting the majority of information about the next Gen sometime in September, and the games themselves will probably be launched either in late November/early December, or late January/early February.

Other predictions? We'll MAYBE get a vague as heck teaser for the March 20th anniversary next month and release of the virtual console red/blue. Plus, if they haven't revealed the new starters at the same time, we'll probably see them in June.

The remaining question of when we'll see the new cover legendries is basically to ask how long they can leave it without showing the game cover. Which given its possible for them to give us the title but not the cover art fairly early, they'll probably leave it till 1 to 3 months before release. My guess would be 1 and a half… But that's just me under-estimating.

Overall, I doubt its going to take more than 12 months for the games to come out.

… Maybe it will only take 10 months if we're lucky.

Gotta love this coming right after western Digimon release, lol. Both franchises on their A-game right now. As I love both series I couldn't be happier, but it'll be a while before they reveal a type (even if Steel/Fairy is reasonably conclusive). They always take a while to reveal the type and ability of special Pokes like this.

Bulbapedia speculates that it may be based on the combination of the moon rabbit and Karakuri puppets. Of course it also looks like a maid, and as a so-called "man-made" Poke, it may have been used to provide domestic utility to humans long ago.

I'd really like to see a full-blown "ancient mecha-civilisation" type thing in Pokemon if that's where this is going. Stuff like Claydol and Sigilyph hint at this kind of world having once existed in previous games.

… Sadly not out in Australia. I should probably think about importing, assuming PS4 doesn't have region lock… It doesn't right?

Don't forget Golurk.

I don't believe PS4 is region locked no, but IIRC DLC is region-dependent as it will only work with the correct country's game. Does Aus use the same shop as the EU for DLC? For example I could import and play the JPN game on my EU PS4, but the JPN game wouldn't recognise my installed EU DLC and thus BlackAgumon would not be obtainable while using the JPN disk.

But I will say that Cyber Sleuth is by far the best game Digimon has ever put out. Decent story, good cast of popular mons, good balance for PvP, and it's improved upon several systems that Pokemon refuses to (EVs & IVs namely, as well as easy grinding techniques once you've reached the end). Like I usually consider Digimon to have inferior, poorly-funded games, but this actually is better than Pokemon on several counts, objectively speaking in terms of gameplay. It's not perfect but it's a very positive step in the right direction. It seems to actually be selling decently in the West too, which gives me hope for future installments.

Having played Cyber Sleuth now, I could genuinely get behind IVs being removed and a more streamlined move system for Pokemon. Cyber Sleuth's true signature moves are good as well, like every mon has a move only it can use, usually decent to strong damage with a useful effect, and other mons may at best have a different-element equivalent. For example Sakuyamon's special does decent damage while clearing the opponent's stat boosts – essentially the same as Pokemon's Clear Smog. However this move is locked to Sakuyamon and always is in her moveset. I can't tell you how many boss fights it's helped with, even if it's not super strong. I'd be in favour of Pokemon adopting a true "special moves" system and cutting down on some extraneous ones.

Yea this doesn't work well in forums that get like 1 post a day, but I'll look out for you I guess when I go on.

So get this: Youtube has taken down the Pokemon ReOrchestrated channel for multiple counts of copyright infringement.

http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Reorchestrated_YouTube_channel_taken_down

This is bizarre because Poke ReOrch was officially licensed by Pokemon to produce that music and has an album or two out on iTunes. The guy who organises it is genuinely very clever in coming up with movie-like arrangements of the tracks, a properly talented bloke who went through proper channels to produce this stuff.

Probably just an example of YouTube acting weird but if Pokemon Co themselves requested this, it shows a major oversight has happened somewhere down the line.
