Poor Lillie, I can already hear R34 artists furiously drawing in the distance.

Anyway I'm kinda glad we did get too much info, rather keep some of the game a surprise.

Edit: Some more footage.

Interesting. So Solgaleo will be Physic/Steel rather than part Fire as I had predicted. Between the two legendaries, I like Solgaleo more but I'll wait until I know which version has the better exclusives. I could always go with the version less people are flocking towards. Again, I'll wait and see what develops.

Looking at the map of Aloha. A part of me thinks the Pokemon League is going to take place on that small white island.

Another thing I noticed on the map is that there's snow caps on the island at the farthest right of the map and with what appears to be the new design of the Pokemon Center. Despite being based on Hawaii, we're apparently getting an ice region and most likely an ice type Gym Leader to go along with it.

And then there's Lillie. At first, I chalked her up her mysterious character as someone who's actually a spy for the villain team, or that she becomes a rival like Hau and you learn more about her after every battle. Her description from the Pokemon site makes the two unlikely to me.

Still, for someone who's going to be plot important, she's probably the key to stopping the villain team from using Solgaleo/Lunala's power for whatever evil plan Gamefreak decided to give them.

Also, GameXplain uploaded clips from the Japanese Pokemon website which had a little more to show than what we got from this second trailer.

I found a larger version of the Aloha region to better look at the area.

You want to know the crazy thing about this image? It's not the actual size. The original size is a whopping 151 MB. See for yourself.

Anyway, I saw some discussion that the snow cap mountain is where Victory Road is. It could be. There's no sign of the a village unless it's all inside a cavern.

From the trailer, Professor Kukui has a map of the region and alongside the five main islands, we got some conveniently placed clouds.

Since the official art of the region has a tiny island partially covered by clouds, it's certainly a sign that there's more places to explore. Most likely being postgame content.

So… After many mental utterances of single word questions about rotomdex, mostly consisting of "What?", I found myself asking an odd question.

… If Rotomdex is essentially acting as a small cute spirit mentor, does this mean Pokémon is a Magical Girl anime now?

Unfortunately I don't think its likely anyone else has come to this conclusion, so I don't think there's an appropriate image to add to this line of thought.

Also… I just realized the professor is shirtless.

Why did I decide to do this?

New Pokemon
Iwanko:

Nekkoala:

From Serebii: "First up is Nekkoala, the Contagious Dream Pokémon which is Normal-type with the ability Definite Sleep which prevents it being afflicted with a status other than sleep, while the dog is Iwanko, and is a Rock-type Pokémon. It's ability is ability is Keen Eye or Vital Spirit. It is the Deep Eye Pokémon."

Iwanko looks kinda like that mon we saw in the background of a teaser, a rock type dog that isn't a rock monster is definitely interesting, hopes for a speedy rock type? Also, are we finally getting a drop bear pokemon?

Edit: Looking at /vp/ I saw another picture confirming it is in one of the trailers

Pokemon Z is officially dead, Zygarde getting some shoehorn how.

Also, I read that based on the video, 100% Zygarde's base HP has to be between 180-227. If it's only a form change and thus not able to keep that form all the time, it might be a mega Rayqyaza level monster with stats like that.

Todays Nintendo E3 event happened and along side that we got new information on the Pokemon site regarding three route 1 pokemon, a new battle mode and some tidbits revealed in the livestream (which you can watch on the Nintendo twitch channel)

Warning, everything below is Sun and Moon Spoilers, the images are spoiled due to size but I don't know if I can double spoil so I will just leave this message here

Yungoos seems to be this gens Zangoose/Raticate Route one normal HM slave mon, with either Strong Jaw or a new ability Stakeout, which allows it to do double damage to pokemon switching in. If it turns out to have a decent movepool and stats, it could be used in the meta to punish switch ins.

Pipipek is the route one bird we saw in the first trailer back in February, only now we got a full view. It had Keen Eye and Skill Link, plus the site text suggests it might learn Bullet Seed. It is Normal/Flying and has two evolutions.

Grubbin is this gens route 1 bug, probably gonna evolve fast but have a low base stat. It's pure bug, but the site says it like electricity, so it might evolve into electric/bug. It gets swarm. Pretty standard.

Also, they revealed a Battle Royal game mode where four player each fight each other at once. Up to three pokemon each, and the battle ends once one player runs out of pokemon, and the winner is the one with the most KOs and pokemon left. There is a move timer.

Other little details include:

  • Ledyba is also route one.
  • Pokemon battles are revered as sacred and take place a festivals, on stages which on the sites Alola image you can see all over.
  • There are four pokemon guardians, one for each Island, so that makes seven total legendaries, eight if we assume there is a Rayqyaza to Solgaleo and Lunala.
  • All pokemon trainers have 3-D models and stand behind their mon in battle
  • There are two new battle features to help new players, 1.) Once you encounter a pokemon once, your battle UI will state which moves are super effective and which ones are not effective against the mon, in case you can't remember the move chart and 2.) There is a menu that keeps track of all stat changes in battle, allowing you to easily remember how low or high everyone's stats are.
  • They state that old gen mon will appear, but they want to make the Islands have distinct pokemon separated from the main land like the Galapagos islands and have the islands "teeming with life"

Spoilers end here

So I listened to all English anime opening themes, and I was able to come up with a Top 10 of my personal favorites.

10. Black and White
9. We Will Carry On (Sinnoh League Victors)
8. Pokémon World (Orange Islands saga)
7. Pokémon Johto
6. Pokémon Theme (original and X&Y versions)
5. Diamond and Pearl
4. Unbeatable (Advanced Battle)
3. Battle Cry – Stand Up (Galactic Battles)
2. Believe in Me (Master Quest)
1. Stand Tall (XY&Z)

Worst Theme: It's Always You and Me (Adventures in Unova)

This is probably the info that was supposed to be released tomorrow, but some videos leaked and GF probably went "bugger it, release the trailer now", so the info is now officially released anyway and I feel fine talking about it.

Anyway we can see the Tapu Koko thing mentioned in some dialogue at E3. Not clear if it's legendary but it certainly looks like the whole island guardian thing they seem to have going on. It's Electric/Fairy, like Dedenne, and its ability sets the field to have the Electric Terrain effect.

Grubbin appears to evolve into a Minecraft thing and then, basically, Kabuterimon (Vikavolt). It's Bug/Electric, which is new, with a sleek blue look and I really like it.

Cutiefly is Bug/Fairy which is yet again new. Let's see if it becomes a more traditional-looking fairylike creature.

Drampa is derpy as all hell and is the also new typing of Normal/Dragon. Its ability also appears to be new, raising Sp Atk after being hit. Serebii is calling it "Frenzy" and says the trigger condition is currently unknown.

Bruxish is the frankly horrifying "fish lips". Some people are saying this is based on a Triggerfish, which has teeth like that. Anyway Bruxish's "Dazzling" ability appears to block priority, which is pretty cool. It's Water/Psychic.

Togedemaru is the resident Pikaclone, only it's Electric/Steel this time, which has crazy resistances, and a hedgehog of some sort apparently (the "toge" part means "spiky", just like in "Togepi"). So yeah, we have Coldsteel the Hedgeheg as a Pokémon now. Other than that it's probably the most standard addition of the bunch.

All in all, I think these things look pretty freaking weird for the most part, but that's a big part of Pokémon and their weirdness only makes me like them more.

Hopefully we get the site info soon or tomorrow with size details, abilities and english names.

I just woke up and saw this, first thing I see when I google Pokemon is "There new Pokemon designs are terrible" which is a bad way to dive into this.

However:

Denjimushi is stupid looking, I know it's supposed to be based on a battery but it just looks stupid, however, it does evolve into Kuwaganon, one of the better bug types I've seen in a while, so I will just chalk it up to awkward looking mid-stage pokemon, Arceus knows we already have a ton of those. 4/10 → 8/10

Aburi I like, because I want to see a sprite pokemon now that we have Fairy type. At first I thought it was a Hummingbird and got real hype, but this is fine too. 7/10

Hagigishiri is the stupidest looking Gen 7 pokemon yet blessed with a great ability, but, we have to have our Dunsparce/Stunfisk I guess. 2/10

Togedemaru Spherical Pikachu actually doesn't look half bad for a Pikaclone, but it is a Pikaclone, so I hope it is the species Yungoos was supposed to kill. 3/10

Jijiron is based as hell. I don't know about you, but I am a fan of on purpose goofy looking pokemon and I found the design interesting. I've seen some speculation as to this being a Dunsparce evolution, but so far I doubt it. 8/10

Tapu Koko is the pokemon I was waiting for, the Island Guardian (probably) and Tiki pokemon. I was hoping for Ghost type to be honest, but I'm happy with what I get. If it's not a legendary, it might go on my team too. 8.5/10

All in all, this info did introduce the first gen 7 pokemon I don't like, but it also had some decent to good pokemon too. 7/10

My only beef is that they may be releasing too much too soon, but that may be because they have a lot in store. This might actually mean we are getting over 100 new mon instead of 70, but who knows.

I can totally see these mons turning a lot of people off to SM (specially Genwunners) and I did dread a little when I saw them, but I did the same when I saw the starters until I looked at them for a hour then fell in love. Seems to be the same here. The only thing irredeemable here is UgFish to be honest, as Pikaclone is expected and stupid looking mid evo with awesome final evo is forgivable.

I dunno how I feel about how this new Zygarde form works, it practically requires you to have a rest (and sleep talk) for it to be even slightly usable.

I've thought the same thing about Zen Mode Darmanitan. But you revert back to its original form if you go above half of your HP maximum. So even Rest might not work.

In other news, Shaymin is now available in Nintendo Network.

Now I'm just going to get a good Mew…

Anyway, on to my thoughts on these newly released Pokemon.

Vikavolt is my favorite out of them, it seem like a potentially a nice early route Pokemon like the Sewaddle line in BW2 with amazing design and amazing typing. Charjabug looks rather unique for a cocoon.

At first, I thought Tapu Koko looks meh. But then I see it in action and I actually think it's pretty cool. And it has an ability that summons Electric Terrain to boot.

At first, I don't like Togedemaru that much and its name sounds like a name a middle school student would use. But then I see its typing, perhaps the Pikaclone will be a good wall.

What does Dazzling has to with being immune to priority attack?

Drampa looks goofy. It has Frenzy which nobody knows what it suppose to do.

I don't have anything to say about Cutiefly aside from its typing. It's my least favorite Alola Pokemon so far. Even more so than that goofy dragon

And people thought Gen 5 was bad, ahuhuhu~

Now, this isn't me saying I HATE Gen 7's designs so far. When Gen 7 is good, it's good. Pokemon like Litten, Iwanko, Lunala, etc., look great. But when Gen 7's bad, it's awful. Bruxish has a garish color scheme, and Togedmaru is giving me flashbacks of Chespin's second evolution. That being said, Vikavolt's made out of badassery, I have faith that Cutiefly will evolve into something cuter, and Drampa's so derpy it's almost endearing.

True… WELP, guess it can join Regigigas in the pit of "cool, but useless thanks to dumbass gimmicks".

English website has updated, I'm just gonna copypaste my Reddit comment with all the info here:

Here's a summary of new info that the Japanese trailer didn't have:

- Grubbin definitely confirmed 100% evolving into Charjabug, not that it wasn't obvious already.
- Tapu Koko's ability & move localised as "Electric Surge" and "Nature's Madness" respectively.
- Drampa's abilities are "Berserk" … or Sap Sipper!
- Bruxish can also have Strong Jaw.
- Cutiefly's abilities are Honey Gather or Shield Dust. Hordes still in???
- Togedemaru can have Iron Barbs in addition to the already-confirmed Lightning Rod.

Loving the music in this trailer!

The website update also has:

- A screenshot of the player riding a Stoutland through a canyon

- http://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/en-us/pokemon/tapu-koko/ More Tapu Koko info. Nature's Madness apparently reduces the opponent's HP by half (not clear if half max or half current though). Tapu Koko is described as "surprisingly fickle and won't necessarily come to your aid if you need help"; nice to see that it has a bit of personality! Gives it a kind of "trickster god" vibe as well.
- Tapu Koko's page also shows artwork with the "bird head" shut around itself and says, "Tapu Koko can store up electricity by enclosing itself in the shells on its arms. And it also appears to enter this form during other, special times…" Possible form change?

- http://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/en-us/pokemon/rockruff/ Iwanko is now "Rockruff", whose abilities are Keen Eye or Vital Spirit.

- http://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/en-us/pokemon/komala/ Nekkoala is now "Komala", and its ability which prevents sleep is translated as "Comatose", lol!

- http://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/en-us/pokemon/drampa/ Drampa's Berserk activates when it falls below half HP, and raises Sp. Atk by One stage. It is described as being very protective of children; how cute!

- http://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/en-us/pokemon/zygarde-50-forme/ Zygarde forms have their abilities listed as Aura Break or "Power Construct" (localised Swarm Change). The page specifically says, "A Zygarde 10% or Zygarde 50% with the Power Construct Ability will be able to change forms into its Complete Forme during battle if its HP drops below half." So it may be the case that Gen VI Zygardes can't reach the 100% form since they won't have the right ability. This is not confirmed though.

- http://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/en-us/pokemon/zygarde's-cores-and-cells/ Zygarde cores and cells have their own page, but are stated to not be able to battle under their own limited power. However, the page says they exist throughout the Alola region, so perhaps they function more like key items, and maybe collecting them will do something in-game?

- http://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/en-us/pokemon/charjabug/ Charjabug has the ability Battery, which "allows it to raise the power of allies' special moves". No detail on the mechanics of this though.

- http://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/en-us/pokemon/vikavolt/ Vikavolt sadly loses the unique ability, but gets a good practical one in Levitate. It is described as "adept at acrobatic flight maneuvers like tailspins and sharp turns" and is said to have high speed.

- http://www.pokemon-sunmoon.com/en-us/pokemon/bruxish/ Bruxish's page confirms absolutely that Dazzling prevents opponents from using priority moves.

wow Bruxish just shuts down priority completely? Now I really wanna know its stats.

I like the battery bug. It reminds me of my basement back home where we have this battery recharging station for 9vs because everything used to use those. & Vikavolt is gonna do well for my rain babies.

Balls. It still isn't available in US Georgia yet.

I heard that folks had a reason to fear a ban from Niantic for not downloading traditionally, so be careful if you grab the .apk.

From what I found, the ban was a risk you faced with the beta. Thus far I'm only seeing "it works" or "servers won't load" comments, but nothing on bans; this isn't the beta after all (which was Japan only).

So I've been able to download and access the app. And the official Pokémon Facebook page says it's available in America.

After a little hiccup, I was able to catch a Squirtle. And fortunately for me, I live less than 500 ft. from a river, so I should be able to catch a lot of Water-Pokémon. I caught a Poliwag in my bedroom. And then a Spearow.

It's pretty cool so far. Wish I could get more clothes.

It still says it's not available in my country. wtf are you telling me I can't play this on an S5?? It's working on my tablet.

Last edited Jul 06, 2016 at 10:52PM EDT

Restarting it didn't work but popping out the battery did! I caught Squirtle because I don't live around any water, then I caught a Zubat in my living room hahaha. I think there's a PokeStop at Carl's Jr…

Nice catch Volga. I think it'll evolve, since it's pretty small and simple looking. Loving that there's yet another new type combo.

Still, double-resisting Fairy and being able to poison Steels is lulzy. This game is gonna change the meta a fair bit, I reckon. People are already calling this thing a possible Heatran counter. That double Ground weakness means a lot of people will probably use some kind of Air Balloon set, but time will tell.

My office is a PokeStop! Weird! It's this big rock sculpture/fountain outside. I got pokeballs and incense and an egg, this bitch ass game wants me to walk three miles to hatch it! I found a gym when I was running an errand for one of our clients earlier too but I couldn't get to it, I'm gonna go back later.

One of the trains I take to work daily is driving at a speed that makes my character run through grasslands at the speed of sound.

I am racking up miles while sitting.

I'm really liking the idea of having new kinds of type combos. Maybe we'll even get something unheard of again like Grass/fire, steel/poison, etc.
Anything can happen now. I'm incredibly excited for this game

Is anyone else having issues with incense? I used one but every time a PKMN came it just flashed on screen real quick then disappeared. I couldn't click on it to catch it. The whole 30 minutes this happened.
