the title says it all, m8. just tell us about game(s) you like that reviewers or friends don't like, but you personally enjoy. for me, its call of duty: black ops. the storyline is terrible, the multiplayer is ok, but zombies is luscious, and thats the reason why i like it.

I'm not sure if no one else likes it, but I see the Dynasty Warriors series get a lot of hate for repetitive combat and lack of difficulty. For me though, it's just a fun beat 'em up, like Feudal China Final Fight.
Also, the Angry Video Game Nerd did an episode on Ghostbusters for the NES that plenty of people praised. I had a similar Ghostbusters game for the Commodore 64 and loved it. Maybe it was due to the fact that the C64 version didn't have that annoying section where you have to outrun ghosts in the stairwell, but I still couldn't empathize with AVGN's issues for most of his video.

At least before the fight against Santa. Fuck you, Kringle.

Though the repetitive maps were annoying and a sign of the developers laziness (or their lack of time to catch a deadline) and the world is pretty small, i enjoyed my experience in kirkwall as hawke. And the final boss fight was just epic and way more satisfying than fighting the archdemon in the first game.
I don't really know what games people don't like, so I'm not quite sure what might count, but I'm generally less picky about games than a lot of people I know. I'm more willing than a lot of my friends to forgive minor mistakes that games make, and just enjoy the game for what it got right.
Depression Quest
Face it you misogynist-white-CIS gamers are just too stubborn to realize that the Depression Quest is the best game ever made in the last 9001 years.
Victoria 2
The game gives you so much freedom yet so much restriction, its just so damn interesting. You can be conquering the entire world while trembling at a minimum wage movement. Or you might want to give people better health care, but all your pops vote against it. Really the diversity in this game is endless, play as an African or Asian nation and face the challenge of westernization, reunite India, make Russia democratic in 1800s, make USA become… US of Americas (or UK become UK of the world). And its always fun playing as any European power committing genocide spreading civilization in Africa.
non-Kart Racers
– Every single racing game I own that's not named Mario Kart I usually have to play alone, and every Steam racer I own has a dying or already dead community. Sure, there are popular ones out there, but it isn't enough to get it out the niche I find the genre in. I ask a friend why no one locally is interested in them, he simply replies "Who the fuck wants to drive in circles all day? What's the fun in that?" We weren't friends after that (I kid, but it did hurt though).
2D and Top-Down Perspective Games
- Nowadays, if the game isn't 3D or doesn't have visuals like Crysis with ICEnhancer plus SweetFX, nobody's interested. Sure, you can say the limits of no Z-axis may be a turn-off, or that using 2D in a unironic, non-Retro style may seem simple or dated, but it can still be utilized to make a really good game. Even the most utilitarian style can work as long as the core experience is solid, works well, and most of all fun, and that's what should matter most in playing the game.
TL;DR: Don't judge a book by the number of pixels and polygons it has on the screen. Or something.
Titan Quest. Passed off as a cheap Diablo 3 clone and paid no further attention by most of the world population. But I had a lot of fun with it. It has gameplay not all unlike Diablo 2, but with more 3D and more greek mythology and none of the bullshit from Diablo 3
Star Fox Adventures
Everyone's response to that game is, in a nutshell, this. I simply welcomed with open arms that new perspective of the franchise. It's a decision I don't regret, because, in the end, it offered me a memorable experience, but most importantly, it was fun. No wonder it's one of my favorite games of the NGC.
