I don't get it, like, why would anyone in their right mind want to do this?

Ask these girls.

I would. I mean there's regulations about how much blood you can actually donate, but this would be better than watching the Schwarzenegger version of Total Recall again for they 3rd time like I did during my donation today. It would be interesting to see how my reaction times actually suffer if I lost blood as I did in the games.

Do you even know what it is like to have poor bloodflow?

At first, I just read the headline and that it was crazy, once I read it though, I think it could be a good idea. To my understanding, this is not too different from just donating blood like normal. The only thing is it takes longer. The upside is that you will get a lot more people interested in donating blood. Unless someone with medical knowledge can tell me its dangerous, I see no problem.

You know what, I am going to tell you all the consequences of poor blood flow

  • Dizziness.

This happens because not enough blood is reaching the brain and as such the person would become dizzy to the point where he may faint.

  • Low stamina.

When walking, 1 step becomes 10 steps due to not enough respiration in your muscles so your body will rely on anaerobic respiration which is only 20% as efficient as aerobic respiration. Leaving lactic acid as the product of anaerobic respiration is what cause the pain in exercise.

  • (And if it gets real serious) Pins and needles.

When there is not enough blood in your vessels you will experience Pins and needles. A very painful experience which forces you not to move your muscles until there is proper blood flow.

So, risking all that just to beat a friend at a game? I'm telling you this so you know what's at risk.

Yeah…… I am well aware of those symptoms of poor bloodflow. I have never donated blood to be honest, but I can imagine it is a safe procedure considering they do it at county fairs. If this regulates how much blood you donate in order to keep you from giving too much, plus it is done in a professional setting, like all blood drives, what is the problem?
As I said, until a medical expert gives a reason for why this is dangerous, I think it is a great way to get people interested in donating blood.

You do realize it's not making anyone do this. You have a choice and I'm sure there will be ways to make sure it doesn't go out of hand. It probably wont get that severe.

I would be up for it, I always wanted to donate blood and this is a fun way of doing it.

I was assuming that it is consensual but if you over do it then these symptoms will happen.

Have you ever donated blood m8? The dizziness is often momentary or only last for a short time.

Also, the purpose of this isn't to just beat a friend at a game, it's to help increase interest in general blood donations. As the video states, the devices would be set up at blood donation centers (I'm guessing only initially in Canada since they only used a Canadian map) to help increase interest in donating.

Blood donation is pretty critical to a lot of treatments and besides that, some people have rare blood types that the only way to find compatible donors is to get a larger donor pool.

You know that this won't be sold in Gamestop and the like, right? This will be held in blood donation centers. They are much more knowledgeable on safe blood donating procedures than most people. If they think it is OK, than it probably is.

I will flat out say it, this idea is fantastic and could save many lives.

@The Cute Master :3

I made those claims because i have experienced seriously poor bloodflow.

@Dac

Fair enough.

You have experienced it =/= everyone will experience it and be as bothered as you.

I don't get it.

It means your experiences are unrelated to this case, completely. And that simply because you have experienced poor bloodflow, doesn't make you the self-acclaimed expert on it yet.

That project requires consent and is voluntarily, automatically powers down before you do, and donates the blood to bloodbanks (which is actually a good thing). Those people know what they're getting into.

Did your case of poor bloodflow involve any of that? If not, then your experiences are unrelated to this project.

He just said he donates blood in the post you quoted……..

How would he not have experienced it yet? Kinda a stupid question you asked there.

It's not Random's fault SAO is shit

Back to topic, this is actually a pretty fantastic idea. Cookies and orange juice aren't always enough to convince people to give blood, so adding this other fun element to it could get a lot of people interested in trying it out.

yeah, my opinion has changed on this being that it is another way to donate blood.

At first I just thought it was a stupid MLG fad and that donating blood was a side effect.

If you kind of think about it, this is a pretty good idea. but the thing is that most sane people would not want to use this. at a charity event, maybe, but I think the purpose is to give gamers a chance to donate blood without going out of their way. Plus I imagine that the criminal underworld would modify the device so that the blood regulation would be ignored, making a typical COD match a literal fight to the death (hence the title of this thread).

Considering I just came back from seeing Mockingjay, that last thought is kinda creepy.
