17 was actually not that difficult for me. At one spot my units got stuck in a corridor where no one could get past and enemies kept swarming but it ended up that xander was in front and just absorbed a lot of them basically. I can't remember how many deaths I had for 17 but it wasn't many I still had a majority I think and I was a lot less stressed than I was in chapter 10.

The traps were not even a problem because I have a lot of locksmith characters. I had Kaze, Niles, my master ninja corrin, and obviously saizo as an ally who needed pretty much no help on surviving on my part. And when a locksmith unit wasn't near by I just kept behind the traps and tried to repel anything that came through and possibly wait for a locksmith unit to come eventually.

But yeah I didn't think it was noticeably too difficult. It wasn't easy but it wasn't difficult. Also I had just finished doing 2 paralogues one for kana and one for midori (since I married kaze) so I had leveled my party a lot. I actually had most of my party die on the traitor ship level because the one before it was the 3 units one so it was a big level gap and to get the gold as fast as possible I split my party up 4 ways regardless of efficiency and allowed them all to be picked off for the most part.

Update on Conquest:
I'll probably regret this, but I did use Master Seals on me, Niles, Arthur, Effie, Silas, and Kaze. I'll regret it because majority of them were under Level 15 (Siegfried recommended them to be above level 15 in order to use the seals, but I used them before I got a chance to read it).
I also married Felicia because tbh, none of the Nohr girls interest me and I think Corrin and Felicia are a good pair based on their relationship. I view them more as friends than master and servant. This also means I got Kana.
Now I'm in Chapter 19, with the kitsune illusions. Wish me luck

…..Mmmm….you may be doomed, depending on the dificulty. And if they were below Lv15, you may have missed a skill. Plus, promoted units at Lv1 are treated as if Lv21, so any experience they get later may not be much.

Don't fear too much when it comes to Corrin however. Dragon Fang will allow him to still deal good damage, and Nobility can help you LvUp quickly to recover. Plus, since you promoted him earlier, you're more likely to get Nohrian Trust sooner. And once you get that, Corrin is practically invincible.

And Draconic Hex is OP if your Corrin has at least Mercenary levels of survival capability.

Also….you married Felicia? Won't argue your tastes, but this also means you won't get 1 child unit. If you haven't gotten the rest of the men married yet, better think who to pair up. I personally recommend Inigo (Soleil is Merc, Mercs are great) and Xander (OP man gives OP son).

I'm moreso focusing on the story right now. If/when I play Conquest again, I'll definitely be more mindful of what I do.

I understand that….though since you need to complete the maps to progress through the story, and Conquest is the hardest of the routes due to being so old-school…

I would normally get pissed if this happened to anyone else. But, because it happened to Arthur, it's just too hilarious for me to get mad at all. It's fits his gimmick perfectly.

Plus, this is the third time Arthur got a crit and it got cancelled because of the paired-up unit.

RIP HENRY'S MONEY
Originally I couldn't buy the Special Edition because when I tried to buy it, it was out of stock. So I bought the normal editions of Conquest and Birthright. Some hours ago I tried to buy Revelations. I added funds to my account. Just when the transaction was happening, an error appeared that said there was something wrong with the credit card's data.
And then, sh*t happened. Recieved a message from my bank, said I spent $20 buying Revelations, but I had no funds in my 3DS.
So… that means… Nintendo sort of… stole my money?
Idk, I've sent them an e-mail already.
End of Henry's bad day. Have a great day.

Progress Update:

I finished both chapters 16 and 17 of Revelation last night. Both of them had that gimmick from the endgame of all the paths where you beat 27 and you immediately jump to 28 unable to exit or save. An interesting idea they took and for story reasons, it makes sense why it was done. By now, I want to talk about chapter 17 since 16 had nothing special in it.

A lot of people love to shit on the characters you get on that chapter: Odin, Niles, Laslow, and Peri. The criticisms these four get is that their stats are so pathetic, the enemy will not only one-hit kill them, but could even double if they desired. Those stats seem better suited if you got these four from earlier points of Revelation.

There was a screenshot floating around of a paladin capable of one-hit killing and doubling Odin. The paladins I fought couldn't do that to Odin, so I assume that screenshot was from Lunatic. I'm playing through Revelation on Hard.

Despite the lackluster stats, they did alright for what I had them do. I kept them away from the enemy, had my promoted units attack but not kill them, and sent one of the four to take the kill. I believe I got all four of them to level up once.

The one thing I will probably never understand is that a strategist decided to go after Kaden instead of Ryoma, who had half HP. I get it. Ryoma would kill you anyway, but his resistance can't be that good that you can't damage him? Kaden has high resistance and barely lost any HP. Hinoka was there too and she wasn't even a promoted unit but she was ignored.

That's about it for the time being. Now, I'm going to marry off Odin to Elise again so I can pick up Ophelia.

Conquest Progress update:

Oh man, I just beat Chapter 22. I spared Sakura but I beat her retainers. Didn't wanna attack Sakura, especially since she was still nice to me after Izana's chapter. I will say this is going into heartbreak territory now. And the next chapter's gonna have Takumi in it, meaning his retainers are there too…If you've been keeping up with my posts in this thread, then you guys know who I'm talking about and where I'm going with this…

Now that I'm almost endgame, I am liking Conquest a lot. It has a lot more impact on me especially after playing Birthright, regarding the characters and strategy. I am enjoying the story in Conquest as much as Birthright. Music is fantastic as always.

For me, the hardest chapters I've encountered were 17 and 20. Yeah, not even 10 to be honest, I just find a way around that.

Over the past few days, I have been gathering reactions to what the characters would say if you fed them food with a flair that's considered the worst.

I've only seen five that give off these reactions: Revolting, Noxious, Reckless, Burnt, and Disgusting.

Here you can view the reactions of all the playable characters.

Everyone except Anna though. She's not due to be released until April 7th, and I don't want to wait two week to get her reaction.

Holy shit. Ryoma is unstoppable. He is the best among the royal brothers from a gameplay standpoint. Some people called Awakening Frederick Emblem, but he only mattered for the first few chapters before falling from grace.

Ryoma? No. Ryoma will just laugh at anyone's attempt to kill him. A berserker outright fled a map because he did not want to get killed by Ryoma. The wisest decision the AI ever made.

If I had the rank the royal brothers on how much they kick ass, it would be;

1: RYOMA

2: Takumi
3: Xander
4: Leo

I would say that Takumi and Xander would need a paired up with someone to be at their full potential. Everyone says Charlotte is the best choice for Xander, and Takumi's partner should be someone that give him speed. I went with Hana, and the two were unstoppable together. Kiragi was also a fantastic unit.

Leo just seems the least interesting from my experience. I guess his issue is his speed. He doesn't always get doubles on most units. I ultimately dropped him on Conquest because he just wasn't that impressive to me even with his personal weapon.

I have finally all of the second generation. This was all done before I touched chapter 19 of Revelation. Among the second generation I actually recruited before chapter 19 (since starting from that chapter and onwards, all the kids get a free Master Seal that only works for them), it was eight.

So, I ended up playing through eleven paralogues back-to-back. By the time I finally unlocked Mitama and Percy's paralogue, I was already tired. To my surprise, I learned that the Dragon Veins in Percy's paralogue causes the enemy to not only run away but the enemy gives you free gold. For every enemy unit you scare off, you make 500 gold. They don't want to fuck with royalty and they shouldn't. They were fortunate I prioritized support points than turn the map into Ryoma Emblem. I never knew that when I did Conquest. I guess because I was too focus on earning experience I did not touch the Dragon Veins.

Now, I should have made some progress in Revelation's story but I didn't. I instead forged a tweet.

Make sure to use Excalibur when you found it and Chakram too. Don't bother about the other S-rank weapons, except maybe the Bow (You get all the s-rank weapons in revelations).

Okay, I'm still on chapter 26 of conquest. I'm playing on hard casual (formerly classic).
Pathetic, I know, but can anyone give me some tips?

Because you're playing Casual, I'd recommend saving before you fight the final boss. Just do it because… reasons.
Oh, and it's not pathetic. Conquest is in general a pain in the butt.

Thanks. So, any tips for beating the shit out of Iago?

I need some tips on beating Conquest Chapter 25. Playing on Casual Normal as you guys may already know, but I still need some help. Good for future reference. And if you don't wanna spoil any of it in case some other people haven't gotten to this point yet, feel free to hide it.

If you have any, give Elise a hex rod and then have her use it on Ryouma until it hits. Then beat the crap out of him. Draconic Curse is mandatory.

….Ryoma? In Conquest?

I heard that you could get him in Conquest via My Castle or something like that, but why not recomend something that involves a character you already get in Conquest normally?

That said though, change Ryoma to Xander or Siegfry and it could work.

No, he meant this as a strategy to defeat Ryoma on Chapter 25 of Conquest.

Rylade475 wrote:

Thanks for the suggestion Angelirio, but sadly I don't have the Hexing Rod. Was I able to obtain that from Azama from the previous chapter?

I don't really remember if you could obtain it from Azama. If you don't have a Hex, maybe use a Freeze and back up Corrin with Physic?

Alright, I'm now at chapter 26 of Revelation. Only three more chapters and that's it!

Saizo is amazing. I regret marrying Kaze in Birthright. Kaze is fine as a unit, but I feel Saizo has more going for him. One being he can actually use magic weapons. I'll save him for Revelation because I'll be playing through all three paths again with the opposite gender.

Conquest I'll just do it in Normal. Hard mode destroyed me especially the final chapters. At least I'll get some amusement out of this "Femui" run.

Finally beat Chapter 25. What I should've done from the beginning is bring all my other units to one side instead of splitting them up since all that had to be done was defeat one of Ryoma's retainers to open the doors.
I also had Felicia use Enfeeble on Ryoma for a bit, sort of as a way to buy some time.

The feels were strong. I unfortunately spoiled myself that Ryoma commits seppuku, but oh my god I didn't think that would be a cutscene. Not like a cutscene with sprites, like a legit animated cutscene. Even though I got spoiled, that still shocked me. And as you know, I played Birthright first so this is really emotional for me. And that one last smile as he says "I'm counting on you." Damn…R.I.P. Ryoma…

Ryoma will forever live on in my heart

I finally reached the Endgame in Conquest. Haven't beaten it yet, but I feel now is the best time to post my final thoughts on Conquest:

I'll be honest, I love both versions. I thought both had good stories, cool characters, and awesome music. But I have to admit…Conquest is a lot more engaging than Birthright, from strategy to story (especially from someone who's played Birthright first, because the feels just get stronger and stronger).

I posted this in the Unpopular Opinions thread, but this one's gonna relate to a spoiler, so click at own risk for those who haven't played yet

This one’s more geared towards Fire Emblem Fates but I’d consider this as an unpopular opinion:
I actually like Takumi. Yeah he goes too far when being suspicious towards Corrin and Azura for being Nohrians in the beginning, but if you played Birthright I think he’s a pretty cool character. In Conquest, I could see why he comes off as unlikable to people, but he’s possessed and can’t help but act that way. Even Azura knew something’s up with him.

And when he turned out to be the FINAL BOSS OF CONQUEST, I felt like crying. He's been dead this whole fucking time…at least Mikoto, Ryoma, Oboro, and Hinata are happy to be with him up there…this also got spoiled for me a bit, but it's still hitting me.

The icing on the cake is when he says: "I wonder what it would've been like to fight alongside you." Brother, as a person who played Birthright first…I have a pretty good idea…

All in all, Fire Emblem Fates is great. I can't wait to play Revelations.

I have finished Revelation. Time to give my thoughts on the rest of the game.

I must say, I enjoyed the final fight against Anankos. Sure, the objective was just kill the damn dragon, but this fight had three phases. The arms for phase one, the head for phase two, and phase three is the ball eye thing. It was certainly more fun than Grima from Awakening which was just "Defeat the vessel, make your meaningless choice, you win lol."

Fates Endgame for Revelation makes you fight for it. I never felt tired from fighting Anankos. I didn't get any feelings of just wanting to get the whole thing over with. I overall had a fun experience with this Endgame. I not sure if other past Fire Emblem games had multiple phases for the final boss fight other than Nergal and the Fire Dragon from Fire Emblem GBA.

I do find it amusing that Takumi became the final boss of Conquest. The other two paths had a dragon as the final boss, Conquest gives us a sniper. True, Takumi was already dead and his corpse was possessed by Anankos, but it was still a sniper. Anankos didn't try some crazy stunt to get Takumi to transform into a Dawn Dragon. Getting to Takumi was still a pain in the ass though, and apparently on Lunatic it's even more bullshit because the enemy healers have infinite staff usage.

Saizo became one my best units on Revelation. I regret going with Kaze in Birthright, but I will redeem myself when I do Revelation again as Female Corrin. Nina was also great. She used the Shining Bow more effectively than her father, Niles did on my Conquest run. It does help that Nina's mother was Nyx. Ophelia was also great. Her defense was much better in Revelation than in Conquest.

Overall, Fire Emblem Fates was a great game. I'll probably buy the DLC especially since Anna's DLC map is coming out tomorrow, but just not at the moment.

Asking for help with Conquest again, this time with the endgame. I unfortunately don't have any Enfeebles, Freezes, Rallies, stat boosts, or even money; Azura is also really underleveled (like I barely used her in Conquest). I feel like I'm pretty much fucked at this point. Got any tips on how to go about this?

So something really badass happened today. I picked up conquest after like a week or two of not playing because of irl stuff and hyrule warriors and did like 3 paralogues in a row (I'm ridiculously overpowered I hope it doesn't bite me in the future when it starts to powermatch and jump in difficulty)

So the badass thing was I was doing Forrest's paralogue which was thrilling and challenging compared to the previous two (Soleil and Ophelia) even for my overpowered party because of the gimmick I had to bumrush it like hell. So I set up master ninja corrin to attack the star axe boss with yato with kaze as attack support. She didn't kill him first hit and the boss hit corrin at 11%. However, Kaze saved me with miracle something skill and then corrin finished the bastard with lethality. I've never seen anything that epic happen in the entire history of me playing Fire Emblem. Just thought I'd share. Also makes me feel no regret for marrying Kaze.

So I actually enjoy the 3 children I got. Soleil is literally just R63 Inigo and it just works. I'm confused as to why she's not a lesbian though to be honest she'd make a much better lesbian partner than Rhajat. Did they just fill their one per gender quota and give up? I might need some supports of hers to understand. But anyways, she's really cool, not using her as a unit though because I have enough heroes in my party.

Ophelia is just R63 Owain except looks like Lissa with black hair. Tbh though I find her less entertaining than Odin because I guess it's just the same thing mostly no offense to all y'all Ophelia fans. She's nice but I don't see the appeal myself. Also won't be using her as a unit because I already have 2 sorcerers. (I tend to not implement kids into my party as you can tell I usually do find without them anyways)

Now Forrest, wow I love Forrest so much. His struggle with Leo was so emotional like I sympathize with that on so many levels. He's such a cutie on top of it too and him talking to Elise is touching as well. I might be biased but Forrest is definitely one of my favorite 2nd generations along with Midori and Shiro. Not sure if I'll put him in my party because for my skill level and difficulty setting elise is really the only strategist I need. I just have a difficult time ditching first generation people for the new ones for sentimental reasons as well as laziness. I mean I put all that effort into them might as well use them all the way if you know what I mean.

Long post already but I bought revelations finally for when I'm done with conquest and I also bought Anna my only dlc so far and probably will remain my only. Well except for the hidden truths thing that also looks awesome when I'm done with all 3 games story-wise I'll probably get that as well. Still haven't used Anna I'm not sure when she triggers. But when she does I'm excited I loved Anna in awakening.

Chapter 12 of Birthright was the most fun I ever had today. Reason being was because I fought and defeated the boss of that chapter

I already found that chapter fun by actually fighting Xander instead of escaping but I decided to go the extra mile and take on the boss even though everyone is statistically nowhere near the level couldn't be more proud!

Remember when I said conquest was really easy especially for my expectations and I was doing well? Yeahhhh no. I shouldn't have said that because so soon it flipped on me hard. The kitsune stage started to go sour because the kitsunes are horribly unbalanced they have no weakness and just tank everything not to mention that unfair illusion gimmick on top of it. I also found the wolfskin stage in birthright annoying but less-so. I've never liked dragon/beaststones in FE they just feel cheap to me and remove a lot of actual strategy.

So anyways that started to go downhill but not much. The Izumo stage was medium difficulty and I had 4 units left at poor health for the wind tribe, but I think the eternal stairway faceless stage really murdered me because of the focus on escape so I lost a bunch of exp. The Sakura level is where my conquest experience basically died. I thought the level was really easy initially until I ran into the ballistas and the enemies started spawning to where it tripled their ranks and I thought it would actually never end.

Halfway through the level I only had Xander and Midori and they actually carried the level very well beating the boss with little effort and I kinda just let the loose enemies run into them and let them heal using fortresses.

However, it got even worse in the possessed level. First time I legitimately game overed playing fates and it hurt a lot. I just got to the 2nd floor before being wiped I'm so behind. Some of my units are like level 14-15 hell a lot of them 2nd class (I did advance most rather early though) and they drop like flies even against things they should have an obvious advantage over and Takumi on his stupid ballista and the enemies spawning behind you just ruined it. I'm so stuck I actually was going to switch to phoenix mode until I realized you can't unless you start over so now I just feel dead.

Conquest Endgame found a way to break you, Sam. Even on Normal, Conquest will punish you. I'll still have to be cautious of Conquest even on Normal when I return to it.

My experience from those chapters were like this:

Chapter 19 – Not as difficult as people built it up as. Sure, there was that illusion gimmick but it wasn't that bullshit to me. I recall only losing two units to that map. I believe Kitsune and Wolfskin are weak to Beast Killers but I'm sure I just sent the usual suspects to wipe out the Kitsunes.

Chapter 20 – Mr. Fuga's Wild Ride was not as wild as I imagined it. I found that map more annoying on Revelation because I just want to move my units to a space where the enemy would get to them but the wind keeps getting in the way.

Chapter 21 One of two chapters I was aware of before playing Conquest myself. If you're playing Casual, really as long as one unit escapes the map, you already cleared the map. Phoenix and Classic on the other hand, require everyone to escape. That map I just had everyone grouped together and used the Dragon's veins when necessary.

Chapter 22 I don't recall it being bullshit. I think it splits your units to two groups and I'm pretty sure one of them lost everyone except for 2-3 units.

Chapter 23 The counter snipers were annoying to deal with and trying to get Hinata to come to me was also an issue. Oboro and her entourage were doable. I'm pretty I had Xander do most of the work on that section of the map.

So, Sam. I assume you're still stuck on Chapter 23 going off of your recent post. How much are you willing to cheese Conquest just to beat it?

This is to add on my previous post about needing help with the endgame in Conquest. This is my lineup right now

Like I mentioned, I don't have any Enfeebles, Freezes, or any other rod besides healing rods. I'm honestly considering going back to Chapter 27 (since you can't save between 27 and endgame) and playing both in Phoenix mode.

I beat Conquest, but…

I had to change the difficulty to Phoenix mode. Before you go crazy on me, I only did it for story over tactics. I will replay the endgame again in Casual because before I went to Phoenix mode, I managed to sell some weapons (S-Ranks because I can't grind here) and got useful items. Phoenix helped with a strategy I had, but in Casual I definitely have to think more critically.

I posted this before, but I think it's worth repeating: the story was nice, characters are memorable, hits the emotions just right, music was fantastic as always. If you asked me if I preferred Birthright or Conquest, I'll just say I don't care because I enjoyed both. HOWEVER, I have to say Conquest gave me a better experience than Birthright did because I got engaged in Conquest a lot more regarding the story and strategy.

Of course next time will be Revelations. Until then, I'll settle with both Birthright and Conquest.
That and school

Okay so i was planning to start out playing the Fire Emblem series with one of these games and i want to know which one of these games i should start out with. I've heard that Birthright is easier than Conquest but i need to know if thats true or not

Mfw people are having problems with Conquest on Normal while on Hard I had almost no problems.

But in all seriousness I actually felt like Conquest gets real easy late-game, hell the only maps I had multiple resets on were Chapter 9 and 10

To answer how much I'd cheese the game, I changed to phoenix at 23 after figuring out how lol. I just had no patience and felt like I wanted to get the story soon. I was so screwed I felt there was no way out without dlc or redoing a lot of things and it's just not worth it to me. I still beat most of the game fairly and had a lot of damn fun doing so. Especially from some of the chapters I saw afterwards in the game holy hell they looked horrifying particularly Hinoka's stage I could not comprehend doing fairly in any way even though it was easy for me because phoenix obviously.

The plot to conquest was a teensy bit better than birthright but still not by much or as much as was expected by what nintendo had advertised it as. I particularly loved the final boss and what it was. I did not expect that at all and I expected a lot in the plot of both the games since they're written as such and have not much plot to begin with. Still unique and the gameplay was awesome. I can't wait to get the same experience with revelations where you can actually dig your way out of it if needed as well as getting all those supports.

One of the funniest things happened to me when playing Birthright.
I was doing Invasion 3 and had Hinoka attack a Swordmaster. She had a Guard Naginata equipped. The Swordmaster attacks with Astra activated--AND DID NO DAMAGE AGAINST HINOKA.

Well, I got bored doing my 2nd playthrough of Birthright that I decided to switch to Conquest. Now, Conquest especially during the endgame murdered me. Until I get used to Conquest's difficulty, I am going to manage it on Normal. It feels different somewhat. The Faceless from Chapter 7 surrounding the map would all approach you rather than two at a time. There's also the number of enemy units you have to deal with. I assume it's less on Normal than on Hard.

I've heard at least with the Conquest maps, the higher difficulties adds enemy units on whose classes don't even appear on lower difficulties. An example I saw was that Conquest Chapter 9 on Lunatic adds an enemy shrine maiden. I don't recall ever encountering one on Hard mode so there's that.

I'm currently doing Chapter 8 right now. I decided to be a dick to Flora and did this to her.

And if you noticed, I went with female Corrin. What name did I give her you never asked?

haha wow, Ballistician Blitz looks more like an Advance Wars level than a Fire Emblem one.

Amazingly enough though, it is a recycled map from Shadow Dragon (Marth was in that game!!)

Is there an indiscriminately bloodthirsty hero on the map, out of interest?

I am counting down the weeks until EU release. Just 5 left.

Had a dream this morning that relates to Fire Emblem Fates.

I turn on my Wii U (yes, it was a Wii U in the dream) and found my game stats. The stats were organized to look like Smash Bros. 4's menu and each stat wasn't really a stat, it was more like what the game thinks I do, like one panel said "Favorite Character" and has a picture of Oboro in it (pretty accurate for a dream).

I then chose a game, which was what I'd like to call "Fire Emblem Fates Bowling" because it showed Setsuna behind the counter of a bowling alley that looked like the one I go to in the Philippines. Next to her was a list of characters I can choose to bowl, ones I remember were Hana, Setsuna, and I think Subaki.

What games of the series have you guys played?

Well, currently playing New Mistery of the Emblem. And I have to say, the original avatar was too fucking broken.

I made mine a mercenary, and he's….too OP. With an iron sword, literally the worst sword, he can 1-shot at best, double-and-kill at worst pretty much everyone, including bosses, all the way to the endgame. And when he's not evading everything like a ninja, he's tanking it like a pro.

In fact, when he was a Lv4 Hero, in one chapter I sent him fight alone against 2 sages with Swarm, a boss Sage with Meteor, 1 General, 1 Sniper, 1 Mage, 1 Berserker and 3 enemy-exclusive mooks……and he won, losing not even half his total HP (52).

The only thing preventing me from neck-breaking that game is that I stick by the "everybody must live" rule.

What games of the series have you guys played?

Replaying Tellius in preparation for Fates.

RD is fuuun, I don't care if some people hate it.

I forgot to mention it earlier, but I've started playing FE1 just for the hell of it on FE's Anniversary. To say FE1 is outdated is an understatement, it is obsolete. But it is still fun nonetheless if you don't mind supports being gone.

@LiveandSound

You could try reclassing to a Myrmidon if you want a challenge. I don't think the Myrmidons in New Mystery are as broken as they were in FE4 through FE6. But their defense is somewhat low, even for a Myrmidon.

@Eglamore!

I've seen purists hate it because of the Battle Saves and the story. I thought RD was pretty good but I prefer PoR.
