@Siegfried: Sounds like you haven't played Shadow Dragon or NMotE in a long time. In these games, what classes a unit can reclass depends on the class set they belong to, which depends on their default class. These are the sets:

1) Mercenary, Pirate, Fighter, Dark Mage, Knight, Cavalier, Hunter.

2) Myrmidon, Archer, Cavalier, Mage, Cleric, Dragonknight (after promotion)

3) For women: Same as 2, but change Cavalier for Pegasus Knight. In NMotE, women can become Cavalier and after promotion Generals and Paladins.

My avatar's default class is Mercenary, now Hero. So my only reclass options are General, Horseman, Berserker, Warrior, and Sorcerer.

Changing him into a Berserker or Warrior leaves him still OP. Changing him into Sorcerer leaves him useless. Into Horseman and he would be even more OP. Into General and he would become truly unkillable.

Sure, you can unlock the other class sets for everyone after finishing the game in Hard Mode, but I haven't done that yet.

Also, Myrmidon isn't a starting option for Male Avatars, only female ones. I did make a Female Myrmidon in another playthrough. Result: The same.

My bad, I assumed that Mercenaries were part of that set with Myrmidons, I thought maybe the lower strength and defense growth might make it a bit more challenging. But yeah, FE12's avatar is usually going to be broken unless the RNG interferes.

Don't know why I haven't posted her yet.

I got Birthright a few weeks ago. I finished it fairly quickly, on Hard-Casual. Wasn't very difficult at all, barring chapters 3, 4, 5, and 10.

Overall, I liked it. The story was good, the dialogue was decent, gameplay was alright, and while I could give you a list of reasons for why it's flawed, I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Conquest blows it away in nearly every way imo. I find the story much more enjoyable, and the level's difficulty (on Normal-Casual, because I suck at strategy games) is great for me… other than the latest chapters, which are really hard. I just finished chapter 21.

If I was rating these games, I'd give Birthright 7.5/10 and Conquest (from as far as I've played) 8.5/10.

With all that said… any tips for the next chapter, Sakura? I'd like to enter it prepared, since given the difficulty spike in the last few levels I think I'll need it. Also, is Revelations worth the money? I have heard it's not that good.

Revelations is just more of the same, I've heard the maps aren't that good and the game balance is messed up. If you really liked Birthright & Conquest and you want more, go for it. Plus some of the units have worse stats than in their respective versions.

As for Chapter 22

I rushed through it since enemy reinforcements were behind me. You don't want to go too slow on this map. I didn't use the Dragon Vein too much and I think Sakura just brings the walls back up if you get close. If you wanna get past the enemy defenses, I think the western side of the fortress is a good place to do it but it's been a while since I played this chapter so I might be wrong. As for the Sakura's retainers, I just used freeze and enfeeble on them, and I'd say that Hana is probably the biggest threat but her defense is weak.

I like revelations but I can see why people don't like it. I primarily like it just because of the fact that you have this enormous party of both kingdoms growing ever slowly and all the interactions you can have between the characters. Also the plot itself touches on that of both the others and focuses on taking down the real threat together with everyone you've met so far.

So yeah it's mainly if you already liked both the other games and got interested in the characters and plot and would like to see it continue. As for the actual maps, yes they kinda suck. Like there was one map where they literally let you choose which enemies to pick off at your own pace it was really sad. Like it was meant to be a challenging gimmick but it just made the map last 5 minutes. Also the fact that maps are reused from the other games which I do not appreciate at all. I expected more since the first map was actually awesome since you only had 3 party members and a puzzle system in a way and was very unique.

But overall revelations is very same-y after the beginning and the occasional chapter which is it's biggest problem for me. I've already played 2 games I don't want the same things thrown at me. Like doing the same child paralogue 2-3 times can be pretty exhausting and stops me from playing at times when I just want to advance the plot.

One last thing I do think conquest is the best in terms of gameplay at least so far and probably will stay that way. It's also the best in plot unless revelations picks up soon which I assume it will from what I've heard. I did not expect to like it that much I guess the hype and the fact that so many people prefer Nohr is very warranted. Even me who is absolutely horrid at strategy and had to cheese the last third of the game still felt it was definitely the strongest.

I didn't update for a while, I'm currently on chapter 14 I think and am overwhelmed by the amount of characters they give. Unfortunately though I lost Orochi and Reina without knowing I lost them permanently and saved over it in this ignorance. I'm lucky I didn't miss anybody more important but it still sucks since I wanted to go for all kids and a lot of interesting supports in this playthrough. Most of my other experiences are listed above. My corrin this playthrough is samurai with skill boon and she's godly I actually try not to use her because she's too good. Best Corrin of all 3 of the games so far. (birthright was standard lord, conquest was ninja, now samurai)

Well I'm heading towards the end of my Normal Conquest playthrough. Currently at Chapter 21. Finished all the paralogues so I can just plow through the story chapters. I'm not sure how Mr. Fuga's Wild Ride wasn't even an issue for me when I first did that chapter on Hard and again in Revelation, but playing through it again on Normal, I now understand why people refer to that chapter as such.

I'm not sure how this will screw me over towards the final chapters but I benched the royals. It was mainly because I wanted to focus on the other characters rather than depend on four units to do all the work as I did on Conquest Hard and that backfired terribly for me. One unit in particular is Charlotte. First time on Conquest, she was a pair up bot for Xander since she could do much for me towards the enemies. Now that I'm a bit more wiser I started to use her more and she is simply perfection!

I even made Arthur and Odin work too! Sure, it's just Normal but at the very least this second playthrough of Conquest is preparing me for when I return to do it again on Hard so that I can redeem myself.

In other news, the Fates OST was officially released in Japan. Among the soundtrack, the Light Song and Dark Song from Azura's dance CG cutscenes. Now we can listen to them without hearing Garon's (groans of increasing discomfort). Unless they get taken down from Youtube for copyright

There's a mobile game coming out. It will be "free-to-start".

Now I'm not gonna be some silly reactionary and claim that the series is "dead" or something. This is probably a side game and won't change the face of FE on Nintendo's main systems.

Might as well get these feelings out of the way, and my thoughts might change once I get Revelations.

I'll admit, I think Conquest is the best version of Fates--great characters and very engaging in terms of story and gameplay. However, I still prefer Birthright regarding my personal feelings. I mean, you watched your mother get killed when that murder was intended for you (which was the SECOND time Garon tries to kill you), and after the rampage you went through you regain your memories that you're of Hoshidan descent. And while your Nohrian siblings cared for you and are completely different from their father and you appreciate them for that, there is one thing that bothers me: THEY LIED TO YOU. They didn't even at least tell you that you don't have Nohrian blood. Garon straight up kills your real dad and kidnaps you. If anyone here is adopted, don't feel offended by this because adoption involves consent and Corrin was straight up kidnapped--no papers, no agencies, not even dropping the child off the doorstep. I would find it to be Stockholm Syndrome if siding with Nohr. No offense to anyone who sides with Nohr--if you do, more power to you.

Again, I love both versions, but thinking about it more, I'm more of a Hoshidan than a Nohrian.

^ RPG's on mobile normally have an energy bar that limits your playtime and knowing DeNA(the company that is alongside Nintendo making these mobile games) that probably will happen and some people who are impatient may not like this and say that the game is trash without giving it a chance.

Holy shit I thought it was impossible for someone to get 100% crit chance without a great club.
How?

With the right set of skills and fighting the right enemy, you can achieve both a 100% hit chance and 100% crit chance. The Great Club may give the highest crit rate, but it also has a very low hit rate.

Charlotte's crit chance for me during these last chapters of Conquest are usually around 79% and that is with both the Killer Axe and Beruka's Axe.

Oh, all your snipers have counter? That's funny. Charlotte, flirt with them.

I wish they would have made a mode in between classic and casual for impatient people, like me. What I mean is, permadeath is on, but you can use battle saves. That way I won't wake up everyone at night from groaning at my stupidity/bad luck.

I mostly just want this so battles will feel less tedious.

I just realized today [May 1st] is Ryoma's birthday. I'm going to celebrate his birthday by playing Chapter 25 of Conquest. We're going to have fried lobster tonight! I just the whole family could be together though.

I also found this chart of the other Fates characters born in May. It's something to keep an eye on before the game tells you outright.

So, I've kinda ran into a bit of trouble. Unsurprisingly, it was caused by not leveling my characters well.

I'm on Chapter 25 (Ryoma) of Conquest, playing Normal-Casual. The issue is, I have not used the Avatar as much as I should have. Their attack with the Grim Yato does a grand total of 3 damage to Ryoma, with a 0% chance of critical and somewhere around 75% chance of hitting. He hits me, when I use the Grim Yato, for 10 damage (5 damage, twice, with a high chance of hitting). Now, this is quite a problem, since we both heal two points a turn. Adding in skills and healing, I can do on average, roughly 1 damage a turn.

In other words, there is no way to kill him before 25 turns is up, at all. I could do maybe 20 damage if I'm optimistic, by then.

I haven't yet tried the level many times yet, but it seems I'm going to have to turn the healing titles into Avo penalty tiles if I can get to it quickly. If I can't get to it quickly, I'll have to get inside to take on Ryoma with my other units.

Have any tips to help me with this? Should I sent my units up both sides or one side of the map? Any tips for helping MU survive and/or do as much damage as possible until reinforcements come?

Since you are playing Conquest on Normal, you'll have to take out either Saizo or Kagero in order to get to Ryoma with the rest of your units. Pick a side of the map that you believe you can manage and send all of your units there. Who are you using in this playthrough?

In terms of the contents of the two chests that appear on the map, the chest where Saizo is contains a Silence staff while the chest where Kagero is contains 10000 gold.

I consider the biggest threat in this map to be the master ninjas. They all have silver shurikens that will debuff you stats in addition to having the poison strike skill taking out 20% of your unit's HP unless you manage to kill them. Their high speed does allow for them hit twice unless you have the speed to make them only hit once or (depending on if you used them) if Benny and/or Effie have Wary Fighter. That level 5 General skill makes it so neither you or the enemy can double attack.

At least you're playing this on Normal. If you were playing this on Hard or Lunatic, both Saizo and Kagero would have to die. Plus on Lunatic, Ryoma would wait 20 turns before attacking instead of 25 turns.

Welp so I'm probably not gonna get this game anymore. Why Nintendo made it limited instead of just a special edition is beyond me.

You would think that Nintendo would have handled this better for Europe considering how hard it was to get the limited edition in the United States but no, they never learn especially with the amiibos.

I don't blame you for not wanting to get the game anymore, but I do know that if you get one of the games, you can get a discount for purchasing the other version digitally via in-game menu that takes you to the Eshop. Unfortunately, there is no discount for Revelations (at least that I'm not aware of), and I believe that was 20 USD. If you are a big fan of series then go for it, but I will say that Fates is superior to Awakening in many ways.

Yeah, buying it online it's dreadful. Cheapest I've found it was around $250, and with that I could easily buy the base game, the other 2 routes, and at least half the DLCs.

Well, I'm stuck again… this time on endgame Conquest. Googling this has led me to see that lots of other people have had the same problems.

My three strongest units seem to be Camilla, Xander, and Leo. The three strongest pairs seem to be Camilla+Niles, Xander+Avatar, and Leo+Odin. I'm trying to basically get all three of those pairs down to the boss with moderate health left over, or at least two with good health. The rest basically are positioned so as to protect the three main units, as I've noticed the AI would rather kill a weaker unit than weaken a stronger one. Since each of my other units seem to be able to be killed by a single attack, I try to strategically place them to distract the enemies.

It seems the maximum amount of time I have to win is 5 turns. Anything after that, I'm surrounded by several strong units. Maybe if I got all 3 down to the boss I could survive a few more turns, but thus far I've only been able to get Xander+Avatar there. This means that my best course of action seems to be:

  • Turn 1 getting everyone into place
  • Turn 2 getting rid of the first Maid
  • Turn 3 getting rid of the other
  • Turn 4 and 5 and maybe 6 attacking the boss

Maybe with Asura, I can kill the maid on Turn 1. That would benefit me greatly, as otherwise I have to position my 3 strongest pairs outside of her range, as it seems she always targets one of them, making them unable to move. I have a hard time seeing me reasonably winning if one of my three strongest pairs cannot move for an entire turn.

It seems like, even with full health, I cannot beat the boss with just Xander+Avatar, so I'll need two or maybe all three of my strongest pairs to win.

Help me please ;-;

EU people, visit my castle for peaches and pearls! There's not much else in it atm.

My Castle Address is 03314-35726-90587-96516. As for which castle you're actually going to get I have no idea. I'm working on getting all the Hot Springs reactions from when you walk in on the opposite gender. I'm cycling between my files as a result.

There's also just one slight problem with the castle sharing: It's region locked

No NA x EU unless you happen to own a 3DS and a copy of the game from the other region.

Finally got Revelations a few days ago. About to go into Chapter 16, but I'm just handling some things first like Challenges and Paralogues first.

My thoughts on Revelations so far is that I really like how I get to use both Nohrian and Hoshidan units. I love seeing these two sides unite against a common enemy. So far, I'm in the minority that is kinda liking the map designs. I'll admit I'm not a fan of the recycled maps like Port of Dia, Mokushu Forest, etc., but I do like the maps in Chapters 7 and 10. As for my S Supports, I married Nyx, Oboro married Takumi, Subaki married Severa Selena, and I'm about to have Sakura marry Hayato, Hinata marry Hana, and Silas marry Camilla.

I just realized I messed up in Chapter 14 of Revelations.
I killed Benny and Charlotte, but I didn't know until now that I had to get Elise to talk to them in order to recruit them. I'm on Chapter 21 now, so it's too late to go back for them…

Now that I've played all three versions of Fire Emblem Fates, here's how I view each version:
If I were Corrin, I'd probably choose the Birthright path. Yes, Hoshido has its faults, but considering what Garon was doing (which I'll get to later), it's understandable as to why they have the faults. I am glad this was adressed in Corrin and Azura's Revelation supports.
While I stand with Hoshido, Conquest is the best version of Fates, in my opinion, especially if you played Birthright first. Conquest is very engaging, from the story to the gameplay.
My favorite of the three versions has to be Revelation. First, it's definitely a combination of Birthright and Conquest regarding gameplay. I really like that I can grind levels and supports between characters and apply some unique strategies on the maps. A lot of people say that Revelation didn't have pretty good maps, but the Valla maps are great, especially the endgame map. In addition, I love how it ties everything together, explaining why both nations are in war (for example, why Garon started this war), and of course the union of Hoshido and Nohr.

As for all three versions, I think they all have great stories, loveable characters, and awesome music. Fire Emblem Fates was quite the experience for me, I think this maybe my GotY for 2016.

Kotor wrote:

My god Birthright plays completely different from Conquest. The ability to do skirmishes to your heart's content giving all your characters equal opportunity to be good is something in comparison to Conquest where you can't make everyone in a single run good.

There's also how many characters Birthright just throws at you. You start with six characters in Ch.6, the start of Ch.7 gives you two more, and the chapter ends with three more characters. Ch.8 gives you three characters at the start, and one more at the end. With all that plus Mozu, that's sixteen characters by the time you start Ch.9 of Birthright.

Conquest, on the other hand, reduces your party count to two in Ch.6, in Ch.7 you gradually get four more characters, and Ch.8 gives you two characters. With all that plus Mozu, that's only nine characters by the time you start Ch.9 of Conquest.

In terms of marriages, my Corrin is ultimately going with Kaze, and they are currently at A-rank. The only other A-rank pairing I have is Saizo and Mozu.

A quick update: I just got my Corrin married to Kaze. I can do Kana's paralogue right away, but they're not letting me do Midori's.

I browsed a bit through the thread again to read other posts about Birthright endgame, since I'm there atm, and noticed this one was never answered:

In Birthright, if you don't have at least A-support with Kaze by chapter 14 or so, he dies. It's unexpected, no warning, but you'll lose him forever. Probs because he becomes your retainer in your A-support with him.

Can't have a Midori when the semen farms are dry. So her paralogue doesn't unlock until Kaze survives.

Which is hardly as sad as chapter 17 ;_;

Birthright chapter 17. An emotional chapter. It should be emotional…. unless you're me and decided to turn it into a joke by giving Jakob a chef hat.

I knew beforehand Flora's fate before playing Birthright myself. It was all intentional.

What made it even funnier to me was that immediately clearing the chapter, I go to the Lottery shop and win a gold ball!

It was only appropriate that this theme should play for my actions.

I am now playing through Birthright a second time and I'm currently on Chapter 17 right now.

How are you guys running with the Hero and Dread Seals? Same on the Transformer classes, keeping them or changing them?

I'm currently still on my first playthrough so I just prefer to keep my kitsunes as such (outside of the skill-related switches), and haven't really used Dread Fighter yet.

Except Mozu, who I really didn't want to bother with as a Villager so made a Great Lord right away.

I've been changing some of my transformers, and some into transformers. I had Kaden as Shigure's dad in Revelation, so I made Shigure into a Nine-Tails and he's been a pretty darn good one. I changed Selkie into Dread Fighter and she's doing pretty well. I decided to see how Keaton is as a Berserker, and if he doesn't cut it I'll just have to switch him back again.

What I need is a good class for Laslow to make him less cripplingly average, and a better sword using MU class. Already tried out Swordmaster, want to see if there's a better option.

Just finished Birthright on Hard, planning to do Revelation on Lunatic in the end.

But now I'm starting Conquest. While harder and with more variety in the mission objectives, I'm really tempted to just make it a bullshit run on Normal with only Maids and Butlers (as Nohr allows for that), because I fear I won't have the time to do another bullshit run after Revelation (and I want to make Revelation my strongest party).

If you wanna pull something like that off on your Conquest run, you'll have to check on every unit available to you on Conquest to see which ones require some level of work to get them to Maid/Butler. I looked into this myself to assist you.

Corrin: Troubadour as Talent. Anyone you decide to marry can Partner seal to the Troubadour line.

Felicia, and Jakob are already in those classes by default. Elise just needs to use a Master seal

Characters that require a Heart Seal
Leo
Effie
Charlotte

Characters that require a Friendship Seal (A+ rank)
Azura – A+ rank Elise
Silas – A+ rank Jakob
Camilla – A+ rank Elise
Peri – A+ rank Felicia
Odin – A+ rank Leo

Characters that require a Partner Seal (S rank)
Azura – S rank Jakob
Silas – S rank Felicia or Elise
Kaze – S rank Felicia or Elise
Mozu – S rank Jakob
Xander – S rank Felicia
Camilla – S rank Jakob
Laslow – S rank Felicia or Elise
Peri – S rank Jakob
Selena – S rank Jakob
Beruka – S rank Jakob
Odin – S rank Felicia or Elise
Niles – S rank Felicia or Elise
Arthur – S rank Felicia or Elise or Charlotte
Nyx – S rank Leo or Jakob
Benny – S rank Felicia or Elise or Effie
Keaton – S rank Felicia or Elise or Charlotte

I could insert the second generation into this list but I don't know if you intend to use any of them in your Conquest playthrough. I'll save those for a separate post. I also left a few other units out because they could only obtain the class if you go Female Corrin and marry them.

The benefit to the A+ rank is that the feelings are not mutual. You can have Azura A+ rank Elise, and Elise can go on to A+ Camilla or Effie. You may not be able to grind for money or experience in My Castle battles but you're still able to support grind.

You should be able to get 16 units as maids and butlers since you'll need 16 units once you reach the last Conquest chapters.

Damn bro, thanks, that's gonna save me some time.

I decided to just fucking do it, but since I'm still jumping into Conquest (the hardest route) blind, I'm giving myself some tactic, but it's mainly revolved around marriage and skills:

- Class switching for the sake of skills is of course allowed, but only for skills; the moment the skills are there I switch back.
- For that reason, Corrin (male, as I used female for Birthright in case I decided to try out lesbo) gets Ninja as his talent, so he can grab Shurikenfaire from the Master Ninja line, and I'll make him a butler through Jakob or his Maid wife.
- I'll maximize Ninjas, a Hoshidan class, for that reason, so Corrin is almost forced to marry a maid for the sake of Kana.
- I'll marry Flora (was planning on that pre-butlermaid run already anyways); that way Flora, a Maid starter and much limited support unit, will maximize her usefulness through marriage and child support, and Kana will still get Maid through his mom (and Felicia and Elise remain up for distribution #pimpin).
- Giving Corrin a second child is unnecessary (in case of female Corrin or Azura) as those inherit Nohr Prince which is pointless in this bullshit run.
- Same reason to marry Azura and Kaze: Azura can A+ someone and Shigure already gets Butler by default, Midori needs to get married or a buddy though. Downside is that Kaze will be locked out of Butler that way (as he needs to marry Felicia or Elise), but I'll be sacrificing 1 ninja-butlermaid (Kaze) and get 2 in return (Azura and Shigure).

I at first challenged myself by starting this game on Hard mode right away in Birthright, so a bullshit run on the hardest route is a nice way to add both fun and a challenge as all my characters will end up being support classes.

As you can lower the difficulty but not higher it, I'll just start on Hard and see how far I can take it. Probs chapter 10 based on what I read lol. Will need to restart though as my current Corrin has Samurai as his talent (Swordmaster+Yato); luckily I was only 1 chapter after the branching and starting from the branch uses your most recent time there.

Wish me luck.

Enjoy your gimmick run of Conquest. I'll be doing one myself except this one involves heart sealing everyone into their second class. Not the best way for me to redeem myself in Conquest Hard Mode but I'm doing it to have fun.

Now, I'll just do the second generation anyway. Even you don't use all of them, I think it would a good reference point to know exactly who has to get paired up or simply needs the Friendship seal.

Naturally a Troubadour
Forrest
Dwyer

Characters that require a Heart Seal
Shigure
Kana (If Troubadour was chosen as Talent)

Characters that require a Friendship Seal (A+ rank)
Siegbert – Forrest
Ignatius – Forrest
Percy – Dwyer

Characters that require a Partner Seal (S rank)
Sophie – Dwyer or Forrest
Midori – Dwyer or Forrest
Velouria – Dwyer or Forrest
Ophelia – Dwyer or Forrest
Soleil – Dwyer or Forrest
Nina – Dwyer or Forrest

Characters that inherent class through Mother
Sophie – Felicia or Elise
Midori – Felicia or Elise
Siegbert – Felicia
Ignatius – Felicia or Elise or Effie or Charlotte
Velouria – Felicia or Elise or Charlotte
Percy – Felicia or Elise or Charlotte
Ophelia – Felicia or Elise
Soleil – Felicia or Elise
Nina – Felicia or Elise

Whenever Anna gets released in Europe she can Heart Seal into the Troubadour line.

Over both generations, you have 6 who start as Troubadour, and 4 that can Heart Seal into it. Add Corrin + Kana, and you're already at 12. There are 4 characters with exclusive mom/wife access, and even more outside.

Then you already hit 16 Butlers and Maids.

Underlings will rule the Battlefield.

Chapter 26 of Conquest sucked on Lunatic. The first room is full of Heroes. The ones closest to the door have Counter, and all of them have Wyrmslayers. Iago is also given a Hexing Rod – you'll be seeing his shit eating grin as he condemns your tanky units to half health. In addition, the maids in each room are given Staff Savant, so they can keep wearing you down before you can even reach them.

I hope you have some units with high resistance, because the room on the right side of the map is full of sorcerers and maids.

Oh, did you manage to get to the bottom of the map? Here comes a platoon of pissed off Berserkers and Generals with hammers and Beast Killers. Let's have a group of sorcerers and maids spawn right behind you to spice things up as well.

Well Bizarro Emblem has been an interesting experience so far in these early Conquest chapters. A lot of generic blue outfits those there are a few expections like Samurai Odin and Sky Knight Azura.

I'm aware that Midori has Kaze's green ninja outfit, Takumi sports a unique Swordmaster outfit, and Shiro inherits his father's armor.

One of the pairings I'm doing is Niles and Nyx and the two basically just swapped classes.

What's interesting with this pairing is that Nina gets the Diviner class as she already gets her default and dark mage class through her father. Another pairing I'm going through with is Arthur and Beruka because Percy gets Sky Knight through Beruka.

That's about it so far. Wish me luck for Chapter 10 everyone.

Just thought of a pretty cool DLC idea for Fates:

Maps where you fight the final bosses of prevoius Fire Emblem entries, but using the units from Fates. Kind of like a boss gauntlet. For example, one map is where you have to fight Grima from Fire Emblem Awakening using your Hoshidan/Nohrian units.

My Bizarro Emblem is going fairly well. I maximized my adult Maids/Butlers, and am now moving on to the children.

Funny thing there is skill inheritance, as males and females get a different Troubadour skill to work with the gender opposite of their own: Through inheritance, you can give them both skills.

This is especially funny with Forrest:

And becomes even funnier when you replace his pink baret by the maid headpiece while he's wearing the Butler outfit.

This fucker is gonna generate some very awkward boners on the field.

So, I'm waiting for the right opportunity to finish Revelations, and I've hit a bit of a mental roadblock. I don't know whether I want to get the full experience via amiibo/DLC or wait to see if there is a 3rd wave of DLC. In the meantime, the flaws of Fates are becoming clearer to me. Despite the refined system, I feel like the skill system is far too watered down on both ends. I feel the balance aspect has actually decreased the challenge slightly, compared to Awakening where the skills and stat spreads were so grossly OP that it hit a point where you could bum rush everything. I feel Fates goes too far the opposite direction. Deliberating every move, while interesting at first, just became a hassle due to how it feels like the combat in general was nerfed, not to mention how the weapons quickly become (pardon my use of a trope) Awesome, But Impractical, since there are so many drawbacks to using higher tier weapons that you're better off just forging weaker weapons. Not only that, but levelling up doesn't feel as triumphant as it does in other FE games. (In games like Radiant Dawn, Awakening, and Genealogy, levelling up felt really fulfilling and accomplishing. Not so much in fates.
That said, I think the plot is a vast improvement to Awakening, and personally, I think Fates has the best FE plot since Tellius, and maybe even Genealogy. Sadly, the gameplay suffers from a slightly less severe case of "Final Fantasy 13 Syndrome": Too much focus is placed on different aspects of the game that the gameplay suffers as a result. Don't get me wrong, I still love this game, but I feel like the gameplay, skill, and weapon system could've been much better.

Wow so much to catch up on, I just got a little too lazy to post is all. I've finished all 3 games after a huge pause in the middle of revelations. Finished Rev like a month ago about. I also decided to get all the DLC because fuck it this game keeps growing on me and I want to continue the characters.

My review of Revelations is kinda tough. I'll tell you straight up the gameplay to Revelations was kinda lame I was honestly just trying to end it. The plot was also a bit disappointing. Like it actually doesn't explain much and there's so much filler. They decided to spend 3 chapters on some kid and 3 on fighting the same person and the whole first part was literally just birthright and conquest recycled, even some of the maps are literally the same with the same goal.

However, I still liked Revelations a lot and it's my primary file where I go for completion. I love Fates' characters so much. I may have accidentally lost 2 of them but eh I still get most of the experience. I have every child paralogue unlocked and when I have some freetime with my 3ds I'm going to go through and do all of them.

One of my favorite supports has to be Felicia and Niles. I did this honestly because it was one of the last options for children I had, but oh was it worth it. It straight up made me kinda shiver from being uncomfortable and is probably a giant part of why the game is rated T but it ended up being kinda cute and gave me some insight on both Felicia and Niles and their motives. Was pretty funny too.

Along with doing paralogues and DLC I will be trying to build support for some conversations I'd really like to see, primarily between all the siblings. Leo and Takumi is something I've been saving myself to see for a while now. And even though it's kinda creepy and the hair looks kinda bad for some of them I decided to make the siblings of the closest age from across the kingdoms to pair up and I am not disappointed.

So my thoughts on the DLC? Fuckin impossible. I'll be doing this shit for a while. I bought heir of fates with the primary intention of hearing Matthew Mercer sing. I actually played the whole thing on the day when the last map was released. In that aspect, I was not disappointed but at the same time it was worth it in other ways. The character development for Heir of Fates was amazing some of the kids I actually hated in the base games had some really cool moments in these maps. The plot was also fantastic it's what I wish Fire Emblem plot was like all the time honestly. The gameplay, absolutely amazing. It strained me to my very limit but I beat it, some of the maps were very tight wins believe me. I even tried to get all the parent conversations on the last stage (but failed and only got like 2/3 of them)

Honestly I may be exaggerating but to me Heir of Fates was better than the actual games, albeit more condensed. I haven't tried much else of the dlc. I can't beat first map of hidden truths for the life of me I lost count of how many times I've tried it because holy shit I swear that map is pure luck even after I watched someone else play it online. I also did the beach brawl and won as Elise (because she's probably the easiest to win with) and will inevitably try with other royals.

I would have liked a horde mode DLC since the weapons no longer have durability. Enemy units would get stronger each wave and of course throw in some boss enemies after certain points. Of course you would eventually need a phase to temporally heal up or swap units.

This would be perfect for testing out builds or strategies (assuming that your units that fall in battle aren't permanently dead). We already have the Weapon Museum, Boo Camp and Ghostly Gold DLC, so why not test your strategy to its limit? It would add more to the game and think of the bragging rights!

Edit: Forgot to include the possibilities of using the Dragon Vein. Enemy units using it would definitely change up the battlefield quite a bit or get buffed up (if you didn't get it first).

So I was loading up the Nintendo Badge Arcade, when it gave me an error involving my SD Card. I reset my 3DS with the SD Card, and after multiple resets it's like my SD Card data got completely wiped.

I couldn't find the Badge Arcade, my badges, my 3DS Themes, and my Fire Emblem Fates DLC, which unfortunately included my entire runthrough of Revelation. I had no other choice but to format the SD Card.

Thankfully, I can redownload the themes and the DLC. Unfortunately, I couldn't do the same for Revelation. I redownloaded Revelation, but I don't have the save file--in other words, I gotta do Revelation all over again. I don't mind, I like replaying games from start to finish, but it's just a bummer that my first playthrough of it is gone…

Now I'm cautious about redownloading the Nintendo Badge Arcade because I'm afraid the same thing would happen again.
