Original Mass Effect trilogy being remastered as "Mass Effect Legendary Edition," due out Spring 2021

As of right now the collection is confirmed for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and the games will receive updates to enhance them for PS5 and Xbox Series X. The main deal with this collection is it brings together the original Shepard trilogy of Mass Effect games and their DLC all in one package. Whether or not the visuals have received a noticeable update is hard to tell since the look at characters in the trailer could just be CG, but I did spot the Frostbite logo on the games official website so it's possible the games could have had all their assets ported from Unreal 3 to Frostbite (hopefully this doesn't introduce a whole slew of problems given it's well known by now that EA's insistence on using Frostbite for damn near everything is actually turning out to be more of a detriment than an advantage since Frostbite was really only optimized for first person games while third person titles using the engine tend to suffer from visual oddities).

Aren't they supposed to fix Anthem and then make new Dragon Age they announced earlier this year?

I assume this is being handled by a smaller b-team, I dunno. Anthem's basically a lost cause at this point, don't expect it to pull a Final Fantasy 14 or No Man's Sky without some kind of miracle. As for Dragon Age, I imagine they decided to move development over to the PS5 and Xbox Series X mid development and it's gonna take longer for it to come out (maybe we'll get a proper first look next year).

Right now I'm just hoping they don't somehow manage to screw up remastering the original trilogy.

The first Mass Effect came out in 2007, 13 years ago. It's very much old enough for a remaster.

God that makes me feel old… it seems like only yesterday I heard how I remember hearing about mass effect 3 and being excited…It was simpler times.

Id prefer a remake at least of mass effect one.

That game has a lot of shit that doesn't hold up

Funfact I replayed mass effect 1 a few months ago and the whole snow planet is fucked hard and required me to literally console command a fix… I remake/remaster whatever technicalities could be good.
