The fact that Hades at least has a nomination for GOTY is good.

But damn, they're really trying to push for TLOU2 even though that game's relevance dropped off the face of the earth about a month after release. Let's hope the electorate is a little better and votes something deserving of the title.

TLOU2 is the favorite to win.

TLOU 2 is gonna win at least once considering "private" votes take priority and are worth more

Well, if that's the case, then they deserve the prize, right?

Definitive Edition came out in May. Final Fantasy and the Persona remakes were nominated so there's no precedent for why Xenoblade shouldn't be nominated also.

Also Among Us is nominated and it came out in 2018 (it just didn't gain mainstream attention until 2020).

Anyway I doubt TLOU2 will win GOTY. People assumed Death Stranding would win that category last year simply because of Geoff being friends with Kojima would mean rigged voting but no it didn't win there, so I doubt his friendships with anyone mean that much in the process. My best guess is it'll go to either Doom Eternal or Ghost of Tsushima.

Also Origami King should have at least gotten a nomination in best action/adventure.

I really don't see TLoU2 NOT winning most categories it's in. The easiest way to tell is by which game got the most coverage by gaming "journalists" (the more ass-kissing a game gets before the VGAs normally means it'll get just as much of it for the VGAs), and it easily has the advantage there.

Of course, my faith in the VGAs or any entertainment award is near nil, so I might be pleasantly surprised.

I hate it when people put "" around journalists.

They're really trying to push TLOU2 which is funny because:
-It stopped being relevant around a month after its release
-The most divisive game of the year
-A complete flop in Japan
-The only times it's brought back in a discussion is anything but the actual qualities of the game

It's the antithesis of a game of the year,in fact Game Awards started to be a joke since TLOU 1 won when Metal Gear Rising came out the same year.
The latter managed to be far more memorable and continued to get referenced for almost a decade and took a massive part on the mockery of TLOU2.

Meanwhile most hardcore fans of TLOU1 forgot about it until the sequel trailers came out.

Ehh, I want TLOU2 to win because of neckbeard salt.

I want to see Animal Crossing win over The Last of Us Part II just because I want a resurgence of those TLOUII edit memes and for the contrarian salt. Plus considering how much of an impact it made during the pandemic, I think it deserves the win

Except it won't.
Game Awards have been a joke for years,if any other game loses and cause it won't cause an outrage except for TLOU2 "fans".

It's always been an expensive ad event.

Maybe game critics will stop being "overhated" when they start actually having differing opinions instead of the same shared opinion all the damn time. Movie critics at least manage to have more diversity to their opinions more often than not.

Anyways, I am curious as to whether Chimera Squad or CK3 will win best sim/strategy game (kinda effed up that simulations and strategy games are placed in the same category, but again, not surprised, all things considered.)

Looks like Ghost of Tsushima will win the Player's Voice vote tonight. Also, why did you guys downvote me for like TLOU2?

Because you're rude to users with different opinions on The Last of Us Part II, just like you were rude to me, not to mention harassing me on private messages too.

Well, it's uncalled for to downvote someone for liking a thing. Sorry for the DM harassment, I learned my lesson.

It is the 27th anniversary of the original Doom today, so the reveal would be appropriate.

Personally I'd also like Shantae and Hat Kid.

Nintendo why you gotta be like this? Revealing shit at the last minute? Somewhat ticked off because I would not have bothered to watch the Game Awards otherwise.

Anyways, Reimu or Doomguy.

As for the actual Game Awards, I seriously do hope Ghost of Tsushima manages to upset The Last of Us.

It’d be funny if the reveal did a Bait-and-Switch where it set up a reveal for a Fire Emblem character only for it to be someone else instead

I just had this idea in my head for such a reveal.

DK, Diddy, Banjo, and Kazooie are sparring with each other only to be distracted by an axe flying by. They see a silhouette of another Fire Emblem character like Edelgard. The four look genuinely disappointed, annoyed, or even angry another Fire Emblem character was added before it’s revealed to be someone else like say, Crash Bandicoot.

The FE character that Crash pretended to be tries to attack Crash similar to what K. Rool and Banjo did to Dedede and Duck Hunt in their respective trailers only for Crash to dodge and spin them into a convenient pile of nitro crates.

Sephiroth is a legit surprise as I didn't think Square would do another FF rep. I know Maximillion's gonna be happy about that one since FF7 is one of the only JRPGs he loves, plus hey this acts as a way to finally get more FF music in Smash.

Also, PERFECT DARK IS BACK?!

EDIT: For those who don't know, Back 4 Blood is the latest game from the studio that did Left 4 Dead, it's basically Left 4 Dead 3 in all but name.

I guess that does more harms for Geno's chances, but if it means we'll get One-Winged Angel in Smash, I'm down.

Also, sounds like they brought back Coach and Zoey's voice actors.
