So as of right now the main thing we know about the upcoming presentation is a first look at proper gameplay for Resident Evil 8. However Capcom has also been making quite a few mentions of the fact 2021 is the 25th anniversary of the RE franchise, and people have noticed some slight oddities about the screenshots of past RE games Capcom has been using in their countdown to the presentation. Capcom also made mention that the presentation will have more than just RE8 related stuff as well.

One piece of speculation is Capcom might announce more spin-offs or side games at this presentation as well. One rumored project is they might announce "Revelations 3," a game rumored to be made mainly for the Switch. However some people are also speculating Capcom might re-release the PS1 versions of the classic games in some fashion, likely as digital releases on the eShop, PSN, Xbox Marketplace, and Steam.

Hopefully the other announcements will be something pretty neat.

Could be or couldn't it be, but probably for those other announcements, a trailer or a release date for their Netflix film, RE Infinite Darkness, is in the cards. Any other surprises are welcome.

Getting the lesser news out of the way first: the multiplayer mode in RE8 is a PvP mode called "RE:Verse" where the maps and character are just taken from the games using the RE Engine (so 7, 2 remake, 3 remake, and 8). Honestly doesn't look that interesting, and I'm just wondering why Capcom suddenly seems to no longer care about Mercenaries like they used to (or better yet just bring back Outbreak already!).

But now onto the good stuff. First here's the latest trailer:

And onto some details shared during the livestream:

-First off the game is cross-gen on console, coming to PS4 and 5, along with Xbox One and Xbox Series X, with people who buy the PS4 version getting a digital copy of the PS5 version for free and Xbox players will get the Series version via Microsoft's "Smart Delivery" system. (on PC the game will be on Steam so no surprises there)

-Game seems to take its ques more from RE4 as the game will start off in a village and move to a castle nearby

-Plot is Ethan has traveled to this area to rescue his daughter (trailer shows Chris has something to do with Ethan's daughter being abducted in the first place)

-Game sees a return of the attache case styled inventory system of RE4

-Crafting mechanics from the last couple of games will be present, possibly expanded upon

-Also like RE4, the game has a merchant character, a really fat fellow known as "The Duke"

-More enemy variety compared to RE7, with zombie-like enemies in a sewer/dungeon section that can carry swords, werewolf type enemies in the village, and a really large enemy wielding a hammer that might be a callback to the Executioner Majini from RE5

-Looks to have "pursuer" styled enemies similar to Mr. X, Nemesis, and Jack Baker in the form of the daughters of the Tall Lady

-Tall Lady looks to be one of the main antagonists

-PS5 owners have access to an exclusive demo called "Maiden" which is similar in style to the demo that was done for RE7 (as in it's an original scenario not in the final game). As of now it's only on PS5 but I expect as we near launch it'll come to other platforms (a similar thing happened with RE7, the "Beginning Hour" demo was PS4 exclusive for months until hitting PC and Xbox).

-Release date is May 7, 2021

Video isn't working. I think you used "https://youtu.be/xxxx" or "https://youtube.com/watch?q=xxxx" instead of "https://youtube.com/embed/xxxx"

It's working for me. Not sure what the issue could be. Hate to sound rude but if you're having trouble watching the embed then just go to YouTube and watch it there.

My own personal Pros and Cons for RE8 so far.

Pros

Inventory Tetris returns.

More variety in enemy encounters.

A gothic horror style that we haven't seen in yonks.

Possible hints of supernatural elements at the end.

Cons:

The main antagonists speak in a stereotypical English accent and don't screech "¡Un Forastero!" at you.
